[Q] Opera Mobile on CM 9?! - Motorola Photon 4G

I'm getting FCs every time I start this ap on jokers CM9 0.3.1 or later. Tried clearing data, restoring from backup, unistalling and installing new, etc. Opera mini seems to work fine. Anyone run across this?

It's a known phenomenon, you can use other browser instead, right now I'm using UC browser, works good.

Thanks. Mini not the same. Don't have an older version handy i don't think. 12.0 had some nice new features like more than 9 bookmarks on start page and ability to save urls to start page.

its an older version 11.x but actually works

Thanks man. I'll give it a shot. I already tried restoring 11.5.5 from an older TB backup but that does the same thing.

Worked like a charm! Appears to be 11.5.3. Thanks man.

CM7 - flash not working for me (broken?)

So i have never gotten flash to work on my NC. I am running phiremod 6.1, and have tried Miren browser, stock, and Opera. None of them will display flashing animation or work with many of the restaurant webpages (many use flash based menus).
Reinstalling, changing settings, etc has not changed anything that I can discern.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a remedy?
also, a basic website to test it would be helpful in determining if it is the webpage's fault, or something wrong with my NC.
Embarrassing when I give my GF my tablet, and it fails in front of all her friends
Thanks in advanced!!

A good test website to go test out, is www.cnn.com; have you tried using skyfire or dolphin HD? Skyfire is pretty quick when it loada flash based web pages.

Have you tried all the opera options? Opera Mobile has worked for me for awhile on the cm7 builds. If you have tried it, don't know what to say.
Would just like to update:
Got it working by uninstalling flash + all extra browsers.
Installed flash first, then opera but it still wouldn't work. Repeated the process with a cache/dalvik wipe but still no worky
Finally, I installed skyfire to test it and viola! Opera now has working flash!
No idea what it did but I have since uninstalled skyfire and used the NC quite a bit and it is still working flawlessly. Thanks for the help guys (and I hope this helps someone else out as well)!
Struggled with this for like a month now LOL

Just flashed to vegan 5.1.1 how do I know if I have android market?

I just flashed my gtab to vegan and that went well, then I did the adobe flash and market fix as in the tutorial.
I just dont know how to tell if its the android market or not.
It looks the same as when I first opened it. Should it look like the android market I can go to on pc?
I see netflix listed so is that a good sign?
Thats perfect. Vegan 5 is a great system. If you can find dolphin browser you have a golden market fix.
Cool, I just searched and found the dolphin broweser so yay.

Heck yes! You win at market fix magic ;-)
Do you have to do the market fix everytime you flash a Rom?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Yeah you do. Unless you have titanium backup and you use it to backup your markets apps data and restore it after the flash.
So all I have to do is titanium backup the market and I'll be good?

new swype beta on rooted the stock rom

has anyone tried removing swype from a rooted stock rom using 1 of the methods available for removing stock apps and replacing it with the new beta?
I'm anxious to try the new version with dragon.

I just did that few days ago. New beta SWYPE is probably a hundred times more accurate/pretty than the stock one that comes with the phone. Haven't tried too much of Dragon dictation but still definitely worth getting it.
I did it twice actually since I just flashed SHOstock ROM.
The first time i followed these directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20893638
The second time I just used titanium backup and it worked just as well with no issues.
Good luck.
I haven't had any problems with it. I don't use the dragon feature, but I did test it and it works.
I manually removed the APK the first time, but like the previous poster said, TB also works.
The .so file was versioned, so I left it on there (it won't be used by a newer version anyway, since that will have its own).
Just select Swype in TB and select "Uninstall".
Then install the Swype installer and go from there.
Just keep in mind you'll have to do that anytime you flash a stock ROM that has it included.
If you flash a ROM with integrated swype, without wiping data, swype will crash when you try to use it.
Just go back into TB, uninstall the system version (you'll see two in the list), then select the beta version and "Wipe Data" and that'll fix it.
Thanks for the help guys! In fact I'm writing this post with my new Swype!

Dragon
I used dragon dictation in my car on my way back from work and i was so happy with it. I sent 8 texts and only made 3 errors. Its on par with google's speech to text. It uses very little data too...i only have 200 mb so i have to be careful with stuff like that.
I'm loving the Swype Beta w/Dragon. I use Unnamed 2.2.1 and had no probs at all deleting the old skype with root explorer and downloading the installer. Dragon dictation works great and swype's accuracy seems much better. A+ all around!

opera mobile now has flash......BUT...

Just like the title says, but everytime I load a flash site, it crashes and goes right to my home screen. Can someone else try it out to verify its not just me??
Confirmed, same here.

Agreed, ics browser does work great, I guess I just got used to opera on cm7 and was looking forward to trying it again. I've noticed on some sites that opera does a better job of formatting the page. Guess I'll have wait til opera comes with another fix......

That's why I have Dolphin, Opera and ics browser + installed. I find that each one does something best.
What version are you on, they just put out an update to version 12 and one of the fixes in the changelog is "Added Flash support on Android 4.0.3", or are you already talking about version 12?
Yes, already talking about V12.
But it seems not to be a Touchpad specific issue. I just tested on my HTC Desire and had the same behavior there. When activating the Flash video, Opera immediately crashes.

Same here
Tried it and was able to see a flash applet but then it crashed.

Same here.. Back to 11.5.3... Even though flash does not work, it is way faster than 12 (or any other browser I've used).
The new Dolphin HD is a lot faster than the stock browser and closer to Opera Mobile 11.5.3, but Flash won't go full screen for me (it just shows a white screen) but otherwise Flash seems to work.
That's weird. I've been using Opera on my Touchpad (CM7 & CM9), my old Droid Incredible (Froyo & GB), my Transformer (HC & ICS), and my fiance's Triumph. Never had a single issue with flash.

Really??!?! Are you using a modified version of flash??? Can you post a screenshot of it running YouTube?

I stand corrected. I hadn't tried it since I last flashed. Works fine on both my Transformer and Rezound (both on ICS). Touchpad resulted in instant closure of the browser. Odd. It's clearly not an ICS issue, it must be either a CM9 issue or a Touchpad driver issue.
Out of curiosity, what ROM/Kernel is everyone running? This was on CherryKang with Bricked Kernel (not the new version, my Frankenstein version lol)

That's the mobile YouTube site on opera in the first screenshot, and the youtube app on the other 2 screenshots. The mobile version doesn't use the adobe flash plugin, which appears t be the issue. Can you change your UA agent in opera settings to desktop and see if the desktop version of YouTube works? I'm sure it'll crash like the rest of us.....

Adobe flash and JB rom's

I just wanted to confirm this. I was told that flash doesn't work on JB and that adobe did not plan to have a working version? Is this correct? I have been wanting to try one of the jb roms from our great developers but I need flash. I use dolphin to stream video from amazon and it requires you to have flash to do this.

Flash works on the JB Roms I've tried. The market won't let you download it, so you'll have to install manually.
Adobe will no longer support flash for new versions of Android. Most websites are offering alternatives anyway, welcome to HTML5

What version of dolphin should we use? I have 8.7 and 8.6.1
Adobe Flash 11.X works fine the stock browser for me. Especially on my tablets.
Just wish it would work on Chrome :/

If you have it installed already uninstall, find apk online and reinstall than reboot that worked for me.

For me version 8.6x and 8.7 won't let you enable flash. Version 7.6 crashes when you enable flash.
