Cheap charging cable: $6 for 1; $8 for 2 - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

Amazon has cheap charging cables from 3rd party sellers:
Sorry I can't post a link. Here is the description
KHOMO Super Long 6ft (SIX Feet!) USB Data Charging Cable for Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF101 TF201 (High Quality Rubberized Cable, not cheap Plastic)
$6 for 1 and $8 for 2

Actually they are in a two pack for $5.15+shipping
StevieJ

Just ordered the 2 pack and the 2 dollar case for 10 bucks, hope all works well!
Sent from my Tranny

Purchased.
Buy em’ before the seller knows how sought after these are. lol

8.14!!! Hell yeah, it's hella cheap for 2 packs.

Woo! Prime eligible!

The only ones I can find on Amazon are now $23 for two cables or $12 for one.

Damnit, they raised the freaking prices already! Wish I could have known about this sooner!

didn't take long, mine on the way.

I'm impressed!
I ordered on Tuesday and they arrived in today's (Thursday) mail.
The cables are almost twice as long as the stock Asus cable and are slightly stiffer.
The one I tested works fine for both data transfer and battery charging.
The TF connector looks identical to one on the ASUS cable and fits snugly.
Pretty good deal for a little over $8.00 delivered. It's a shame that they tripled the price, but it's still an OK deal.

Could someone PM me the link? Or is the deal over? I only see them for 10$ now...

I too received mine today as well. Pretty good as far as I can tell. I also ordered the 2 dollar case and must say the case looks every bit worth the 2 bucks and not a dime more. Oh well, good charger cables though.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium

Received mine today as well (5 minutes ago)
Cannot get the cable to charge, or detect the device when connected to my 'puter.
Have only tried one, so far....
only out $5 bucks, though.....

got mine as well, charges good, but my laptop can't see it.. oh well..

Ordered 2-pack on Tuesday. Just got them. Both are good, charging or connecting to PCs.

Is yours stock, or ROM'd?
I am running ARHD 3.1.0, and mistakenly ran the 3G enabler script to use a 3G modem, not knowing it won't work right now.
Apparently, one of the side effects is it kills the USB connection to the tablet. I re-flashed ARHD 3.1.0 right over top, and it cleared right up.
Hope that helps

Just got mine. Running stock updated ICS.
USB recognized on computer.
Cable charges fine (not through usb of course).
Good pickup.

My stock cable dos fine, this one dos not. I'm not worried about it, as long as it charges, I'm good.

Got mine on Friday. Charging and data transfer with no problems. Best $8.14 I have ever spent. Love the length too.
Steviej

So if I just use a USB male to female cord to extend the stock cable, wont that work ?

Short cable!

Being the type of person who doesn't like to put charge cycles on a battery if I don't need to, I like keeping things plugged in when I use them. PLEASE ASUS, sell me a cable that is longer then two feet. i can barely put my tablet on my side table because it pulls the cord. Now, my "hidden" needs to be way out in the open for things to reach... I will pay good money for a LONG cable

I've tried several USB extension cables with no luck. Anyone find any type of solution to get a longer reach from the charger?

Doesnt specify which usb type that cable is in the listing. Just says 30inches long. So I would say that was USB 2.0 as well. Theyre usually blue tipped if they are usb 3 btw and theyre new so theyre not cheap.

Did you preorder the dock yet?
I went the other way round... instead of getting a USB extension cable, I assembled a power cord extension cable
I had all the spare parts lying around, so it cost me exactly $0, and maybe 5 minutes of my time...
Has anyone confirmed the 3.0 extension cable works? I I just tried and tested transformer doesn't charge through it. What is worse though is that I breaks the normal charger. I had to unplug everything for 20 minutes to get it to charge again.

Yes, from visions. Amazon had my first order, but I cancelled after seeing visions price on the dock. I think everyone will be gerting the dock in at the same time, so I went on price instead of shipping speed.

I purchased a USB 3 Cable that has the correct amount of pins needed to be used as an extension cable (Male to Female) with the Asus charger, so with a 2 meter cable i can now sit on the sofa with it plugged into the charger to get full charge whilst using the transformer.
Saves having to put it down close to a power point to charge it with the silly short cable that it came with.

From this post HERE.
I'm sure it will charge fine, but pretty sure you won't be able to use it as a data cable to your pc. I've seen a lot of people confusing usb 2.0 with usb 3.0 cables. Be careful as they are very different.

[Q] Good Micro USB Cable?

Does anyone know where I can find a micro USB cable replacement that is compatible with Samsung's drivers?
My original cable crapped out, so I bought a Gigaware to replace it; phone charges fine.
However, know matter which drivers I try (or cpu), I can no longer get a cpu to recognize my phone.
And I of course need this functionality in order to use Odin (yay!).
T-mobile does not sell the original cable.
Any ideas or advice?
Thanks!
Idk but I do know LG does not work I've tried 3 different ones so far. No joy. So avoid those. Its not much but I hope it helped.

I have tried most USB cables out there and I'd recommend ORIGINAL cable since its nice and long and perfectly thin for a microusb yet high quality

only $1 here with waaaay much better reviews than the one you posted.
I'd personally think that the RIM brand is better quality build, though I could be wrong, and as far as reviews go, the cable I bought was nice and sturdy and can take quite a beating and works just fine :-/ To each his own!
Went with the cable from monoprice because shipping was MUCH cheaper.
Will post results on receipt.
On a recent stopover in Hong Kong, I bought several cheapie cables. These ended up being neither cheap, nor functional. They cost $2-3 each. And were only good for providing power to the phone.
At home, I have several cables from various devices (e.g. Logitech Harmony remotes, Blackberry, Motorola ...). All of these cables work just fine.
So the moral of the story is to stay away from cheapie no-name brand cables.

These cheap no brand cables are rare and useful. Try charging with them. Many of them charge 2X as fast as a normal cable, as the device recognizes the charging as 'AC' instead of 'USB'

I picked up a 3ft and 6ft lengths in black and "splurged" the extra few cents to get ferrite cores and the thicker gage power wiring (28/24 vs. 28/28 as they list it).
In comparison to the Samsung OEM cable, they have "chunkier" heads with harder and thicker plastic. They don't interfere with the phone housings in any way and are much more cat-proof. My cat made swiss cheese out of the ends of one of my Samsung cables.
The thicker gage wiring option is nice if you anticipate cable abuse (stepping on it, pinching the cable in doorways, etc) - great for vehicles and small kids. The thicker wiring does however results in a notably stiffer cable, so I can't easily wrap one tightly around my palm, for example.
For the prices they charge you could easily get many for the "price of one" in a brick and mortar store, so if you're one to deliberate to excess you could just order a few different options knowing you'll get something to your liking .
FYI - the best cable for Samsung phones and drivers are the blackberry ones IMHO there chunky on the tip and the wire is thicker than SAMMY's good luck everyone

Well, I'm thinking about just buying a micro usb to usb B cable converter.
Then, just go to any thrift store and buy a USB B cable that would come with a printer. Those things are everywhere and cheap. Unfortunately I've only seen the converter online, and it sells for 7USD.

I just got mine from my local best buy. I looked all over the store and couldn't find it. They had them where they normally store their new phones at. Love the sleek design but not worth 50 bucks IMO.
Does it come with an MHL adapter? Or do you have to buy that over and above the $50 cost?
And I have been checking my local Best Buy stores, but they never have had them in stock. Out of frustration, I went into my local Sprint store to see if maybe they had them first. Nope. But the guy checked on it for me, and he found there was like 150 of them just sitting in a warehouse, with no ETA on when they will be shipped!!! And they had been just sitting in that warehouse for weeks!!!
Weird. My Sprint store had this in stock on day 1. Maybe it was a Evo 4G one.
In either case, does this work with the MHL adapter?
Saw the dock at Best Buy and was allowed to open up the box to check out the dock. It does NOT come bundled with a MHL adapter. The only items in the box were the dock, a wall usb adapter, and a micro usb cable to charge it. IMO it is definitely NOT worth $49.99

It does work with my tmobile MHL adapter, there is a video button that needs to be push to activate the hdmi output.
I got mine today as well. I am having problems with it though.
I will be playing a game, or an emulator and every 15-45 seconds the screen will flicker off then back on, and the sound will flicker back to the phone, then back to the TV once the screen comes back.
It does not seem to have this issue on the "main" phone screens or when I am in lesser video/sound intensive apps like mail clients etc.
If I disconnect the video dock and directly use the MHL Adaptor I have zero issues so I doubt the MHL adaptor is at fault.
Anyone else experiencing this who owns one? or did I get a dud?

Finally found one yesterday at another local BB than the one I normally go to. If you are in the Irving, Texas area, the South Irving BB, by the 183 (Airport Freeway) has about 3, and Lewisville BB has maybe 1 left, as I bought the other. I also bought that T-Mobile MHL adapter for their HTC Sensation. Using the 50% off coupon, link in the MHL post, I got it for only $10!
As I had a number of spare HDMI cables laying around, but not long enough individually, I also bought 2 Rocketfish HDMI couplers for about $29 each.
Sooooo, put it all together, pressed the button to enable docking mode and,.... and, .... NOTHING! The TV screen was blank! You would think that the HDMI out would work in dock mode, right? WRONG! I then tested the MHL direct into the phone, and I did get picture and sound on the TV. So was the dock defective in some way???!!!
Turned out, after near 30 minutes of futzing around and pulling hairs out, that by accident I found out it only worked in non-dock mode. Duh! How counter intuitive can you be?! So now it works, and fairly decently too.
Now those of you who might think the dock not worth the extra buckaroos, I personally love it! And those worried that the adapter in the dock might screw up your port on the phone? DON'T WORRY. It is an extremely smooth insert. Require zero pressure to put it in. You can darn near just lay the phone on the dock, and if positioned properly, gravity does the rest.
Now of course, my Platinum case won't fit on the dock. But it only takes a few seconds to remove or place it back on. So no biggy for me, unless you are someone THAT anal about things???
We just got some in at the Radioshack I work at and I definitely will never spend $50 on this. It's cool if you want your phone at an angle connected to a computer... big deal... and you still have to get the MHL adapter and an HDMI cable to get it on a tv. So, $50 for the dock, $30 for the adapter, $20 for the HDMI cable. $100!!!! Wasted!!!
Whatever you can do my E3D can do better!

Wow! Good eye. If you have time, I would love to test some USB devices on that. namely, I wanted to see if standard USB controllers would work with it. If you have an Xbox controller, try that. If not, you can pick up a USB controller from Radio Shack just to test, and then return it for a full refund.
I know it's asking a lot, but it's one of the things holding me back from buying this.

Yes I did - Still Waiting
Yes, I contacted them via email on their website and called the phone number. I got a recording of some dude talking about he is busy. The website ask to wait forty eight hours for a representative. If I don't here back from them I'm going to charge the sale back.
The name on the envelope saids MyTechSolution. But his voice mail saids something else. Thats three different names so far.
Hopefully this is a mistake they can straighten out. All seems rather un-professional at this point. I have seen this before. They have about thousand items, which is enough for people to get their item and then spread the word via forum. They soon take in orders for 10,000 and run off with the money. In this case the wall charger creates a tracking number and buys more time.
I ordered both the hd dock and the car dock on 2/1 and received them both on 2/7. No problems. Genuine Motorola. Both work as expected. I do prefer the car dock over the hd dock and i think the remote is a joke

But if you use this you will need to keep the stock ac adapter as it is 12 volts and remember not to use that to charge up your phone wired.
Great charger and the sweet sport for the DNA on it is huge.

Got any photos or links on how to do this?
I'd love to replace my bulkie Nokia adapter with a USB brick.
Ditto. My cat chewed my Nokia cable which is pretty much impossible to replace on it's own (I've tried contacting Nokia a few times and they've been unhelpful) so my charger is useless. If only this thing used a USB cable...
Basicly you just order the female ends online. Check the pin out. Pin 1 is power. Pin 4 is ground. Just desolder the stock jack solder the new micro USB in. Epoxy it down to hold it the trim the case to fit the new plug. I'll get some pics and part numbers and make a guide and post it when I get a chance.

I've got a couple of these, one for work and one for home. I don't think they look that great and the wall wart is huge, but they're well made and they do the job.
Cool

last time this happened, i went via the employee discount page from work, and it took another 50% off (12.50 total).
It works great, even w/ the diztronic case.
Went ahead and ordered from AT&T. It'll be nice to not have to deal with the plug!
I love mine and got it from at&t I wish they had more colors but for the price it can't be beat. Been using mine for a month no problems so far * knock on wood*.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Mine came the very next day. So far I'm very pleased with it. Very convenient... The only possible issue I see with it is the charging light never goes out even though the phone is fully charged.
