So a couple of days ago I updated my phone.
I used Windows Phone 7 Connector for mac doing this.
This updated the device to the following:
OS version: 7.10.8107.79
Firmware version: 1600.2479.7740.11451 ?
The latest FW version is 1600.2483.8106.11500 and is not what I've got in FW.
Is this an error?
I rolled back to 7.10.7740.16 and updated from Zune in Windows 7 (64 bit) that gave the exact same result with latest OS version but still the old FW version.
Ahh just read through at the dev section. I can see I'm not the only one.
Just thought they would update the whole device when they now took the time to tell me an update was available, guess the update process is weird on WP7
OS and firmware roll out separately. The OS is universal across all devices while the firmware is device specific so you can understand why they are separate.
Now why Nokia and MS can't coordinate so both updates come at the same time is a different question. Although i think in this case the firmware came out after the OS update.
I am still stuck up with the os version 7.10.7740.16
I got stuck with 1600.2479...

If thats the case how come some users received both the OS and Firmware update in one update? and has anyone received the OS update and then a couple days later received the firmware update?
Well I wrote Nokia to get a clear answer on this matter.

They might be downloaded at the same time but it isn't a single file. If you look into it the software update is a bunch of smaller files. It downloads the main OS and all the installed languages separately (I.E. doesn't download italian if you don't need it).
I received a firmware update for my trophy a week after i updated to mango.
It may have 1000 files but its reported on Zune as one update which contains the OS and the firmware. If it where 2 separate updates, Zune would run the the update twice like we had with mango. If it were 2 separate updates, there would have been 2 separate backups done.
So has anyone or know anyone who has received the OS update and then a few days later received the firmware update?

I think it's an error. Because Zune only checks up on the OS version 8107.79 and says there is no updates. So I hope Nokia will write me back soon to get a clear answer on this matter.

I did. I got the latest OS update and then got a firmware update a week later.
Hello, has anyone on T-Mobile uk contract manage to get the OS update?
I've got the Nokia firmware update only.
Thanks

I think you're on the same boat as me, waiting, Orange network, since T-Mobile and Orange are one, I believe that they are taking the right p***, I've been waiting for two-three weeks, only one Orange user claimed to have forced it with the disconnect trick, but how he has done it, only God knows if he's lying, after an hour of trying, I gave up.

I couldn't get the disconnect trick to work either but I manage to update manually using the cab files & info. from mobiletechworld.com.
Everything seems ok at the moment, time will tell...

Mind pm'ing me the link, since you're a new user, it won't allow you to post links. Thanks.
Update 1: Never mind, found it, just charging my phone, then will try it out, looks pancakes.
Update 2: Successfully done with no problems, thanks bub.

I thought firmware updates can't be rolled back (only OS updates). If so, Zune wouldn't backup for a firmware update.

It's correct. Just got an answer from a Danish Nokia rep. The OS Version is handled by Microsoft and the firmware version is rolled out by Nokia. So it can indeed be two separate updates. He told that the firmware update should roll out to danish handsets next week.
Thread cleaned... any trolling please do report! Do not go into discussion, just leave that to the mods...!!!

Hi, I'd like to thank everyone for their patience. I'm coming from iOS and am trying to learn here. If I flash the Lumia 800 with a Country Variant firmware to "debrand" the phone, what happens when future updates arrive? Will Zune try and install the original branded firmware from the carrier? Or does it pull the unbranded version for any future updates?
---
I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?by1jjg
My lumia was tmobile de. But i flashed uk country variant and when the latest uptade rolled out, i used zune to update and its still uk variant
Thank you very much for the info
Anyone in 3 UK have a newer firmware than me? I'm on ..ALE8 and heard there's a newer one out.
I've checked via phone and in kies but nothing. Is this just 3 being slow with updates?

AFAIK it's only Vodafone that released the update. So you'll just have to be a bit more patient. Or visit sammobile and install it yourself.
(or check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610)
I got LF1 as an OTA update through Vodafone, but unbranded phones got another to LF2
mine lumia 800 cyan singapore set but i'm in malaysia..how to update to the latest version?
Carrier: SG SW variat ID381 v.01 (what is this means?)
OS Version: 7.10.7740.16
Firmware Revision Number: 1600.2479.7740.11451
sorry for the noob question..still new to Lumia 800
And the Zune Stated there mine is up to date..but it is not..anyone can help me? please.
sorry for my bad english.
The Malaysian updates seem to be out, but it seems like you will have to wait for the Singapore Country Variant to be approved:
http://www.nokia.com/global/support...lability-for-nokia-lumia-phones-in-singapore/
is it because the country variant is still in waiting approval list?
I assume so. I have the country variant and I am still waiting but my friend on Singtel has been able to update.
so i assume just wait for the update and try to update use Zune again.
As HalfManHalfMachine said, the update has not yet been released for most Singaporean phones (only Singtel branded phones have had it until now).
Using the link he provided, you need to check for your specific phone model. You will find the "product code" on the back of the SIM tray on your Nokia 800.
Once Nokia has released the update, it might still take some time until it become available to you, as Microsoft is "throttling" the updates - they will only allow a certain number of randomly chosen phones to update every day to avoid overloading the infrastructure and also to stop the deployment if something went wrong.
Apparently, the Zune client only checks for updates every 24 hours, so there could be another delay.
In summary, update could become available anytime from now until end of July.
There are a couple of ways of forcing the update now, but I would not recommend doing so as there have been quite a few reports of failures and issues.
Like you, I am waiting and not very happy about the process and the lack of control it gives us.
Hi payat7,
I've updated my Singapore Country Variant Lumia 800 using the cab sender method. It worked just fine. Do give it a try.

Hi, has anyone received the Portico update for unbranded CV_GB OTA for eu_euro1_276?
I flashed the pre portico EE rom and the update appeared straight away, but when I flashed back to CV_GB pre portico rom the update does not show up so I'm assuming that the update for that variant has not been released yet.
Can anyone say otherwise?
unlocked devices seem to have not got the update yet, hang in there and you'll get it soon

It seems that most manufacturers are now doing the same thing, waiting for carriers to check their settings etc then rolling all the settings up into the unbranded rom. I did have a galaxy s3 and it was the same with jelly bean rollout. The unbranded rom came almost last! I think it's because in the past phone manufacturers rolled out unbranded updates first but if the settings for carriers were wrong it was the carriers that got it in the neck from customers!
Oh well I'll keep waiting, I know I could flash from ncs but I think I'll wait for ota. Im fed up installing apps again from scratch because for me backup only ever restores my text messages and nothing else?
