I have searched and read through some threads and did not come across an answer to my question....
Do I need a ROM like SAUROM to get the overclocking app to allow me to overclock my Note?
I am rooted and CWM installed. I am okay with the stock ROM, but would like to have it running a bit faster.
Thanks for your time.

You just need root

What is the best application to get to accomplish overclocking?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
I would suggest getting the oc kernel from here made by da g.
But app wise set CPU or system tuner pro are good.
But make sure you create a backup before you tweak any settings because if it becomes unstable you can just restore

Most people are stable with DaG OC at 1.83ghz

Will I need to just flash the kernel? I can do that with out flashing the SAUROM rom?

Correct

Backup first tho

Stock rom rooted w/ Entropy's Daily driver kernel at 1.6ghz
Not too shabby!
Quadrants are useless. There are ways to cheat it and get you're scores above 8k.
Swyped on my Galaxy SII
They are useless. That being said...
Overclocked to 1.6

Worthless or not, I am still impressed.
I really wish quadrant didn't exist to prevent threads like these.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
no, THIS is impressive
but i agree, quadrant is pointless
Quadrant isnt totally useless as it can show benefits of overclocking. But for the most part it seems linpack is the way to go.

Would it be possible to bring some of the Mods from the Motorola Xoom over to the photon? As far as i can see they have the same hardware so why could we not bring the overclock kernels over?
I'm a bit of a noob so don't kill me if it sounds stupid.

Haven't really looked at the mods the xoom has but there are a couple OC kernals. Im on one put put by joker, goes to 1.3

The xoom has s kernel to OC at 1.7, and my xoom runs 1.5 no problem

While they are both tegra 2, its not the same chip. The zoom's tegra is bigger to handle heat better because the gpu is overclocked in the zoom. If we had the same chip then yes but sadly no

Theres a 1.4

We should be able to port some of the apps back and forth, such as the task manager we have and some other apps, right?

Those of you that are on a different kernel, what is your setup? Im currently running mine at conservative. Im coming from an atrix 4g and our kernel options were very limited and we could only use interactive and powersave. Our sgs2 has so many options, I would like to see what and how everyone else's setup is working for them. Thanks guys!

Ok ill be upfront i didnt try that much, but for the sake of lulz lets see how long it takes for people to beat my score.

the current high score is held by myself at 27.0 (had 27.1 but scores refused to submit)
please keep in mind that im doing this with stock 198_7. the rom itself has a few tweaks done by myself. kernel is stock (yea i really beat out someone running at 1.3ghz)

Hey guys...
I'm running Gingeritis 3D v1.2 with Ziggy's kernel.
What's the best settings to get better and longer battery life?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Use imos kernel, 1024 max ,smartass governorv2 and undervolt -75 all across the board if possible.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Should it work fine with Gingeritis 3D?
I've actually never flashed a kernel... so if I do flash this kernel, will it remain there even after I change to another ROM?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
If you change roms you'll change kernels unless you are using a Rom that has the same kernel. It's not like radios. It's easy to flash just wipe caches and flash the kernel in recovery.

My current ROM, Gingeritis 3D v1.2, is a sense based ROM that came with Ziggys kernel. So because my ROM is sense based, I must find the most recent kernel by Imoseyon that is a GB/Sense kernel... correct?
Can you help me verify that this is the correct and most recent kernel available that is compatible with Gingeritis 3D v1.2?

Thanks a lot for you help man.
You always seem to help me.
Try version 6.1. It's based off of 605.9 so it should work just fine.

Okay, thanks man. Flashing it shortly.

Flashed and phone runs nicely so far.
I'll get back at a later date to report battery life.
Thanks so much man!

You're welcome. Glad its working out so far.

Very noticeable battery life difference.
So far I am running your recommended 1024000MHz max and 245760MHz min on the smartassv2 governor.
Across the board right now I am actually -125 and it still runs perfectly. May keep dropping it as long as it can handle without freezing, or is this bad?

It isn't bad just remember not to check apply at boot so that if you get a reboot it doesn't get stuck at that voltage.
