wondering if there is any app that has secure lock screen like with pattern or code unlock, but also has access to camera app straight from lock screen without unlocking the phone... though there would be another security needs to be applied that if the phone is used by someone else, they can use it to take pictures or videos but cannot go into gallery or review other data if the camera is activated by straight from unlock screen....
and then, if one needs to access the gallery from there.. they need to draw secured pattern or key in the unlock code....
any idea if there is any app for this?
just like in iphone os, there is camera button, and code unlock, and once camera is initiated, only pictures taken with activation of camera without unlocking phone can be reviewed ....
wish I knew how to program in Android, I would have done it !!!

Like iPhone? that would be great
http://tasker.wikidot.com/bypass-pattern-from-lockscreen-with-camera
I found this but can't set it up. i have tasker, widget locker and secure settings with helper.
from widget locker the option to add task cut isn't given and tbh i don't really have a clue what i doing from within tasker?
if anyone can figure this out and perhaps give a step by step or even better still if someone could manage to make an apk with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.appfactory
that would be awsome!

Anyone ever get this working?
I noticed other day that HTC One X has similar function....
from home screen, any guest can access camera and take photos... but can only see photos taken by the guest... the phone is still locked and needs pattern/passcode to unlock it.
wish that could be implemented in samsung galaxy s3 lockscreen ...
any ideas/leads how this could be done?
well... noticed this in Windows phone also ... if the phone is locked one can access camera by pressing camera button (in nokia's) and then can take pictures/videos and look at only just taken pictures & videos ..... arrrrhhh why it is so hard to implement in samsung android device ???
wish i was developer, i could totally write an app for this, which would fire camera from locked screen shortcut, and would take pictures and videos in one temp location only...
This was introduced in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean using the lockscreen widgets. :good:

I do not understand .... can you please explain how can i have a lockscreen widget installed which will fire camera and will let me take pictures/videos without unlocking the phone, PLUS it also does not allow to view all my other pictures from gallery, just only the pictures/videos shot using that lockscreen widget....
If you're running an Android 4.2 ROM, just swipe left on the lock screen. The widget to the right of the lock screen is the camera widget and takes you into camera. Works exactly the way you're asking for.

HTC One X isn't 4.2 ... i think it is the HTC one X launcher which has in-built lockscreen which does the trick - allow usage of camera on locked phone, and also allows only to see just taken pictures, and videos, not the others already in phone.

if you are not rooted, most probably you will see two lockscreens.
anyway, lockscreen alternatives are; widgetlocker, lockbot, lockit etc......
Does anyone know how to replace the standard lockscreen on a rooted stock 2.2?
I have Widget Locker but now and again the original screen pops up and it can be a bit of a pain sometimes.
Thanks.

in my opinion, the reason you see 2 lockscreens is because of android system 5 second rule. any lockscreen other than stock one, will have to wait 5 to initialize. however, in widget locker you can bypass this rule. turn on home helper option in behaviour, and make sure 5 sec bypass is checked. if it is unchecked, check it.
hope it will help.

This is an issue with htc sense roms. on aosp roms like cm6 or cm7, the original lock never shows up with the 5 second root bypass rule activated.
Try Lockbot Pro..it has a variety of Lock screens to choose from like Eclair style, iPhone, Froyo etc....it shows up only one lock screen though..and you ve an option to unlock the screen using any hardware button not just power button, nifty feature
For not visualizer 2 lockscreen you must use no lock
I've recently downloaded camera Zoom FX which is a fantastic alternative for the stock camera. I've set the app as my default camera app and added it to my dock. However, I couldn't find any settings to make the camera app located on the lockscreen (by swyping the lockscreen to the right) substituted by camera zoom FX.
Any suggestion on how to do that?
Thanks in advance!
download Widget Locker
Thanks. So there is no way to define this in the stock screenlock?
Brilliant question. This was the first thing I wanted to know when I saw the camera shortcut on the lock screen...i may just add to the question..is there a way we can add any other shortcut to it? Like message, mail, call log etc...?
Widget Locker allows this but I can't find a way to do it stock.
why would you want to replace it? camera zoom fx doesnt offer video recording right, so the stock camera is handier ir am i missing something here?

Some people don't take video that much. I hardly do. Mostly still photos.
Also, there are other camera apps that do allow for video, so being able to change from the stock camera is a helpful mod.

Here's another great reason to change the default camera button on the lockscreen The ICS camera on the Droid Razr!!!!!!

Anybody figure this out yet on how to change the default camera on the lockscreen without Widget Locker?
Well, FWIW, it is possible. I don't know how but CM7 allows for 4 different shortcuts of your choice on the lock screen. If you can do it on CM7, I imagine it's possible with any rom.
Can this be done on the note. I really don't like the one that comes with it. I am using widget locker but I want to lock the phone and I don't like the stock one.
had the same question.
Only way I found was go into Gallery and pick image and set-as then you'll get a lock screen option.
I'm using MIUI locker, the resolution is a little off making the text and objects a little small.
But, i love the ICS style screen with the for unlock options.
Go Locker is good too.
I will def fix that issue .. if I can ever put my hand on the note
Widget locker costs a few bucks but is really customizable as well.

Thanks, this worked just fine.
So I have a question about lock screens. I recently installed SOS M Rom and I love it. However I really dislike the lock screen. I have to unlock the phone to answer the phone and I don't see my messages / emails from the lock screen. Now I'm not blaming the ROM in any shape or form. I am just wondering about a few things.
1.) If I run an app such as Widget Locker does this tend to slow down the phone or use a ton of memory?
2.) IS there an App that I can install that works similar to the MIUI lock screen? I tried running the MIUI launcher but it doesn't really offer a password lock and I really would like a password locked phone.
Thank you for any input you can provide

Does this show who is calling without unlocking the phone or show your text messages?
I've been using agile lock and I enjoy it
Magic locker was doing good for me till I got on nonsense from.
THISIS50.COM IF ITS HOT ITS HERE
What is nonsense from?
Ics Nonsense 4.0 gsm rom,
I do apologize.
THISIS50.COM IF ITS HOT ITS HERE
Its ok, nothing to apologize for. I was just not sure. I spent most of my Android life on Cyanogen on an Evo (the first one) and pretty much never changed. I'm basically having to relearn everything over from scratch on this phone. The SOS Rom I'm on is SOS M No-Sense, so I don't have the Sense UI, which to be honest with you suites me fine. The only thing I am missing is the friend stream and the ability to lock my phone and still answer it.
I actually did try the MIUI lock screen that comes built in with the MIUI launch and fell in love with it, but for some reason even when I put in a PIN, Pattern, Lock, Face Lock, etc it just won't lock, which is bad because sometimes I do have to leave my phone off my person and really hate the idea of just leaving a running phone laying in a locker somewhere.
If you're looking for security, I don't know what to tell you, but I love the Sense lock screen.
You've said that you don't like sense, but Sense 4.0/4.1 are pretty legit. Some of the features and methodology was lost on me at first, but it's actually grown pretty heavily on me. Especially with some useful tweaks.
The Sense lock screen has it all for me though. It displays text messages, has short cuts, can display weather and social network updates. It's actually pretty customizeable, as far as stock ROMs go.
Hi,
It is more app development question, but as I mostly reader and don't post a lot - I have no access to dev forums yet.
I have my own wallpaper app (Awesome Nature Wallpapers) and noticed that it can't set wallpaper for lock screen when it runs on SGS3. When I test it on different phones (my old SGS1, GT7.7, Motorola Defy+, some Huawei phone and emulator) it is working fine - lock screen is transparent and wallpaper is visible, but not on SGS3.
Does anybody now how to change SGS3 lock screen background programmatically (I mean not from settings)?
Thanks in advance!

Need to use the stock gallery. QuickPic can do it as well but you still need to crop the photo using the Gallery's editor otherwise it won't work. Another option is to download a really old app called Wallpaper Set & Save. Works really well.

Sorry, I probably didn't explain properly - I'm not looking for another app to do it. I'm looking for a way to do it from my own app which I'm developing. Standard Android methods of changing wallpaper don't work for S3 lock screen background...
