Hi,
I've tried several battery drain fixes on 5 ROMS, both stock and custom, root and unroot.
All had huge battery drain in idle mode (15-25% hour), so I figured the ROM couldn't be the problem.
After searching a bit more I found out that I can't mount my /sdcard/ with CMW or access the USB storage with my pc.
It results in the following errors:
Code:
Cannot mount /sdcard/.
and
Code:
E:Unable to write to ums lunfile(No such file or directory)
. Already formatted the /sdcard/ and removed the ext_sd. No changes.
After this I thought it was kernel related, first tried:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5
and later:
RedPillKernel_Rev1.3
Still no changes. Any suggestions?
Edit: Also tried a different battery, no changes.
You mean you formatted you sd card from settings? Best way to boot in recovery mount and storage, format you sd card, cache, data, reboot. If phone won`t boot, pull battery, put it back, boot in download mode, flash rom with odin

Does the problem sound like a kernel issue to you?

I am having problems with the recovery on my phone, it is currently Amon 1.6.2.
In recovery I cannot create nand backups or flash new roms. When trying to create a backup I get this error:
Error: run ‘nandroid-mobile.sh’ via adb!
When trying to flash new roms from SD card i get this:
E: Can’t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
Invalid argument
E: Can’t mount SDCARD:
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
thanks very much.
Make sure your battery is charged past 25% I believe. Its a saftey feature so you won't brick your phone...
battery is fully charged.
first thing i'd try is backing up all data on SDCard... then, boot into whatever ROM you are currently using. go to Menu > Settings > SD Card & Phone Storage.
Unmount SDCard and then format card. then copy a rom.zip to your SD and boot into recovery and try again. if that doesn't work, try formatting the card in recovery, then see if it will mount as USB, copy rom.zip again and try again.
you weren't by any chance trying to resize the partitions on your phone, were you?

Titanium Backup, My Backup Pro or Sprite Backup (pay, on market).
Or search for QtADB here on XDA (not Eris specific) for telling it to backup apps and/or app settings from a Windows GUI, and it's free. Good luck.
After using Odin, I have this problem
'E:Can't mount /Cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /Cache/recovery/log....'
Then I wipe it. It is success.
But when I choose zip from sdcard
It said E:can't mount /sdcard/
How can I solve it?
I can't boot my gs2 now!
Answer me please
Just try to reflash with odin most of the times this solves the problem.
if not try another firmware (rom)

Using CWM, you can mount /sdcard.
Check mounts and storage menu.
Also try "Mount Usb storage", connect to pc and check if comp detects your phone.

Try flashing one of the rooted kernels using Odin.

Currentlyhaving the same issue.
This is a kernel issue. It happened to one of the 2.x Siyahkernel beta versions. Simplest solution is to boot the phone and use CWM to flash a different kernel using the tar format (instead of the zip format good for use in recovery mode) (flash a kernel version that's known to be without this problem).
If you can't get past the boot screen, just use odin. But then if you can't get past the boot screen you probably need to flash a ROM over anyway.
I am having the same issue with my internal SDCARD
I cannot access my internal SDCARD. When I insert my external (/removeable) sdcard, recovery sees that as the SDCARD.
I have tried to mount/ dismount/ usmount the internal SDCARD - same error.
THIS is the TMOBILE T989 and we got it yesterday - brand new.
So, I did get it to work from the removeble SDCARD, but I am so use to using the internal SDCARD on my VIBRANT as the primary resource for ROMS, etc, and the external SDCARD as a backup - that it is kinda strange to work now with only one SDCARD (the ext).
It must be something in the recovery that does not see the primary SDCARD...
CAn anyone help, please?
Note that CWM 4 and CWM 5 behave differently with respect to internal and external sd cards (well CWM 4 simply doesn't do external sd card). It'd be your best interest to flash a kernel that comes with a CWM version 4.x.x and for sure internal sdcard will work.
In CWM4, internal sdcard is /sdcard. External card is /emmc. (you can only format external sdcard but not write to it nor mount it.
In CWM5, you can restore nandroid backup from internal sdcard (but you can flash updates from both) . And in the CWM app, default backup location is the external sdcard.
Those who are having problems with CWM 5, flash this version of CWM from your CWM!
http://www.mediafire.com/file/h1yia0gt1sbnbie/cwm-4.0.1.5.zip
You will have cwm 4.
I think I stupidly posted this in the General forum, so hopefully I'll have better luck here. Here's what I wrote before:
Hi, I'm trying to unbrick USB on my Atrix using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751265 but every time I try and use the fastboot command 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' I get 'FAILED error:00120000'.
I am really tearing my hair out! failing this, would flashing via fastboot fix this error? I tried reflashing using fastboot with the CM9 ROM I had handy but adb didn't like it (my installation is borked you see, I can get into recovery but can't reflash the ROM 'cause my sc cards can't be read...so I'm in a bit of a vicious circle here).
If anyone can help I would be so grateful.
Which recovery are you using atm?
Hey,
I'm using ROM Racers custom ROM, from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
Would that make a difference?
That's a recovery, not a ROM. derp
Just messing with ya. But if you have Romracer's recovery you should be able to mount your storage from within recovery. There should be a "mounts & storage" option in the menu. That should allow your computer to read the card and/or internal as usb storage. Or, if you have a card reader you can put the necessary files on your sd card that way.

Yeah thanks but I know this...Ok, here is my problem: I can't mount the internal or external card in recovery, it comes up with ERROR: can't mount / emmc and Error: can't mount / sdcard . I can't mount either card on the PC either and as described in trying to fix the USB connectivity it comes up with the 0x120000 described above in fastboot. On top of that the installation of my ROM is borked (which was Jokersax's ICS beta but I have several others on file I could use)...so I can't reflash the handset. ALL I can do is get into recovery - and a fat lot of good that is doing me!
On top of all that, the reason I ended up like this seemed to be when I erased the internal memory card from my Mac...and this was out of pure frustration fro the mysterious random reboot issue, for which I'd tried almost everything else. But one step at a time eh?
So if anyone can help I'd be really glad right now...
Do you have a card reader? Have you tried formatting the sd card (either through recovery or through the computer using "mounts & storage")? Do you have another sd card that you can try?
Can you be more specific as well? When exactly are you getting the "error" and have you tried "mount usb storage" option in "mounts & storage"? Do you only have a Mac or do you have access to a Windows computer?

Ok, I cannot mount the sd card in any way, either through recovery or on the PC.* the SD card is fine as it the phone registered the card as empty (and read the empty card fine) until it started refusing to read anything at all.* Mount USB storage option definitely does not work (it was working and then it stopped)
*
The error comes from trying the USB unbrick solution (link in my original post at the top)...in fastboot I am trying 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' and then in red writing the ERROR 0x120000 (or whatever it was, it's above) appears on the screen of the Atrix and in the command line box on the PC (I am using my windows 7 laptop for all this btw, don't want to confuse you with my mentioning of the Mac above).
*
So...I either need a way to flash from Fastboot so I can get a working system again at least AND/OR I need to fix the USB connectivity (so I can mount the internal/external card on my PC) and fix the mounting in the Atrix itself.* If I can fix the mounting issue (both mounting within Recovery and mounting on the PC) I can then reflash (and use my SD cards again).
*
Any ideas?
I would think reflashing a newer recovery fron fastboot might help you with your problem if your current recovery is borked. (CWM 5.8.1.8 maybe?)
Ok, so I have installed the CMW touch recovery over fastboot...and I can now mount the external SD card. I have also managed to erase the external SD card using fastboot (fastboot erase sdcard) but the phone still can't see it. The internal memory is untouchable either through recovery or fastboot

Try a fastboot -w command and flash a new ROM from the external see if it works. It would be easier if we knew what caused you to have this problem...
Right, some good news...I have managed to partition my SD card from recovery (only to 4 gigs though but it's a start...), managed to put my and now I am rebooting as I type...although it's taking a long time to reboot...
Maybe I should do a fastboot -w first

Yeah it's still not booting, even though I installed the rom from recovery.
Thinking back my troubles started when a) I wiped both the internal and external to fat 32 from my Mac and then b) I converted all file systems to ext4 from the advanced menu. Yeah, that may be it...

to be honest... no clue. I really never thought of messing with the partitions like that.
I've been playing with custom ROM and whatnot. I put the stock ROM on internal SD but somehow it got wiped off so I don't see it there. I was using Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit - rooting ALLINONE, and something happened so I cannot boot the phone now. I can access CWM mode, but I do not see any ROMs in internal SD, so there is nothing I can re-flash to see if the phone will boot normally. So basically I am stuck in a situation when I can access CWM but I cannot flash a ROM since I have no ROM on internal SD. So my question is, is there a way I can mount the phone as a USB device so that I can copy the ROM zip from my PC into internal SD so I can re-flash a ROM and fix the issue?
Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks, since the phone gets stuck at root I cannot use Odin to flash a ROM onto it - I simply cannot get to the point I can see the phone in the PC. This is my gripe precisely - how to make the phone to be seen by the PC (as a USB device or otherwise) so I can copy a ROM onto it and then flash using CWM.

AFAIK it is not possible to mount USB storage from CWM..it is the way samsung had created mount point sin this phone...you have 2 options
1. take your extcard use a card reader or another phone, copy the ROM and then use it
2.Find your original firmware, boot in download mode and flash via Odin

1. I thought so. I have a small micro-sd from my old BB and so checked and I can mount it, so that'd be a solution, only I'd have to go out and buy a new one. I have no plans/intentions to buy a new sd card so that was sup-optimal.
2. Awesome suggestion! Thanks for redcore2k as well - I did not figure from his response that I needed to go into Download mode.
All back to normal now, will be re-rooting shortly. You guys are awesome!
Ok, I have been searching for my exact issue for the greater part of today trying to solve my issue and I haven't come across anything so far.
I am on running gingerbread 2.3.4 with the UnOriginal 1.4.6 minimalist edition rom.
Basically, whenever I reboot my phone, it reverts back to its state on Sept. 27. For instance If I send a text, upload some music from my computer to the phone, and take a picture, all of that data will be missing when I reboot. All of the texts I sent, pictures I took, numbers I've added, etc. are gone. I can't put files on my phone anymore because as soon as I take it out of USB storage mode, the files are gone.
Things I have tried:
1. A factory reset / wipe data from the phone's settings menu and from CWM
2. formatting /system, /data, and /cache in the "mounts and storage" menu in CWM
3. formatting the phone from my computer
4. flashing a stock rom and PIT file from Odin
5. flashing a rom from CWM
No matter what I do, it always boots up the same as always with the same boot animation, the same text convos, same address book, pictures, etc.
I can't mount anything in CWM's "mount and storage" menu. It just gives an error: "unable to write to ums lunfile"
Does anybody have any ideas? I'm completely stumped at this point.

I mounted the phone to my computer via the in phone prompt instead of CWM and deleted everything off of the internal sd card. As soon as I disconnected the phone from usb storage mode, I used the file browser on the phone and all of the files were still there. Wiping and formatting everything and flashing a new rom in CWM yielded no results as well.
This is really strange behavior to me. Any other suggestions?
You're Making this waaaaaaay to complicated. Just flash another rom. Unless you used rom manager to get into recovery. In which case you didn't read enough. But if not yeah just flash a rom.

Ok, well that explains why I can't mount USB storage as I don't have an external sd card, only the internal one.
I tried to reformat the internal sd card from my computer to fat32 (it was already fat32), but it didn't actually wipe anything. I'l try unchecking "quick format".
I tried wiping and flashing a few more roms, but still nothing changes.
Thanks for all the help so far guys, but I still can't figure out what's going on and why I can't seem to modify data on the sdcard long-term.

I do not remember this issue ever being solved. This may be the only person that has posted with an issue like this, as far as I can remember, until you posted.
What are your symptoms exactly; What firmware is on the phone; What can you do with the phone; What have you tried? Give as much information about your phone as you can think of.
For instance, have you tried flashing the full stock distribution with Odin?
How do you perform this step? mounting the device on your pc. I've tried to do this via terminal on the device itself but it can't get to mount the partitions i need to wipe.
