Hi all,
Just moved to the S2 from a horrible Moto Razr experience, very glad and loving the community here
I'm on stock ICS and Chainfire Root and am unable to install APK's downloaded from outside the Market:
Launching the .apk file opens the permissions dialogue, but once I'm there clicking on the "Install" button just doesn't do anything. No errors, nothing.
Been looking everywhere for an answer, tried moving the apk out of the SD to internal storage, to different folder, ticked/unticked/ticket "unknown sources", unmounted/mounted again, redownloaded the APK and nothing.
Hi.. DId you try to reboot the phone? i was facing the same issue where any app i tried to install just didnt get installed. The install button was not greyed out however it acted as though it was.
I rebooted the phone and poof! the issue was gone! havent faced it again yet...
Try it and let me know!
Cheers!

Hi buddy and thanks. Tried that many times and still no go.
Might reflash ICS/Root, but would rather avoid having to do that if a simpler solution exists

May be you need to push in system/app and not install?

I had the same problem when i rooted my phone and didnt flash any custom ROM. I just installed MIUI, and poof, issue gone. You may want to flash a different ROM, or try just factory resetting your phone ?
turn off screen filter
if you're having screen filter, turn it off and see whether this helps
happened to me too, after turning it off everything worked fine

i went to check out what programs i have in there. i went to the remove programs section (settings>system>remove programs) and it shows nothing is installed there. i know i have some of the apps working cause my LED light isnt blink, my touchflo is still working.

If you have more than 50 programs installed it won't let you install any more. You can edit the registry to fix the remove programs entries. However, I had the same problem as you and I had to hard-reset.

I installed another ROM...dcd168...now I can't install anything off the device...it won't even execute the install program...
WOW ... I'm really hosed up now
Hi,
I've got an Archos 43 IT with dual boot UrukDroid 1.5 and the stock fw. I had the latest version of the market running there (+market fix, installed by arctools) and all worked just fine. But since a few days ago the market only shows very few apps (like 2-3 each section) in both (stock and ud). When I try to install apps over the official market-homepage, I get the message like this (translated): "This App isn't compatible to your Archos A43-Device."
What can I do here? Does anyone have the same problem?
A few days ago in another post I read about a pro here, who managed to replace the file which told the market, that it is an A43 by an other one (i think, it was a samsung galaxy), but I can't find the thread/post anymore. I guess this should solve my problem, but I don't know which file it was, anymore.
Does anyone know, which post this was (link)/which file?

You can change the setting at content filtering to show all app.
For market app, you may reinstall it from arctools.
Hi,
thanks for your reply.

EDIT:
I even tried applying the fix again but it didn't work
EDIT 2:
I now managed to find the post I mentioned in my first post. It was here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11113696&postcount=3
But when I tried modifying my /system/build.prop, I was very surprised to see, it already had the galaxy-footprint, the line containing Archos was only put as a comment (Does this come by UrukDroid as default?). So this doesn't seem to work either...
I am still having the same problem I've tried everything i can think of fix unfix un reinstall edit build.prop and i think posted on the other thread you mentioned. And I'm having the same problem on my stock installation too. Anyone else have any ideas.

I now managed to get the fingerprint of a Motorola somewhat... (ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.2/FRG01B/45394:user/release-keys)
Doesn't seem to do any change... Do I have to do anything to apply the changes in the build.prop? I tried reboot, clearing cache and data of the market and the google-services-framework. Anything else I have to do?
So, I got all the apps back . What I did was the following:
First I switched my fingerprint back to the Galaxy one. After that I rebooted my device and went to (the menu-points are translated by me, so it might not be the exact name) Settings -> Applications -> manage Applications -> Market -> Clear Cache, Clear Data, Force Stop.
Does this work for you as well, jared?

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini.
With a custom rom MiniCM7.
I have that rom for quite some time and liked it a lot.
Although today my apps that I installed are all gone.
Also the market place.
I tried to reinstall the market place but it doesnt appears.
When I look at my app list I see the app "com.android.vending" what is the market place if I am right.
Although I can't unstall it or open it (it also doesnt display the market icon).
How can I unstall or reinstall the market.
Please help, my phone is nothing without apps
Thanks for advance!
When I reboot my phone in recovery.
I can go to "backup and restore".
Then I click on "Advance Restore".
Then I press on the date when I installed my custom rom.
I have the following options:
Restore boot
Restore system
Restore data
Restore cache
Restore sd-ext
Will one of those restores help to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Is it possible that you switched SD card? Maybe all the apps were moved there automatically by Cyanogen?
Thanks for response both!

Well how will I be able to get root explorer without the market on my mobile?
I downloaded the market .apk file.
When I open it my phone is going to reboot (happens at the moment he tries to install it).
Also for the root explorer you need to pay, is there also some free one?
Or is it also able to do it from my PC (while my mobile is connected with USB)?

I haven't switched from SD card since I using the custom rom.
When I look at the application list and search for "com.android.vending" i see it with a dark gray android icon (not the market icon).
Within that icon also at the bottom right a smaller icon with standing "SD" on.
The application takes 204kB.
With a Cache of 4.99Mb that I cant clear.
I already tried to put my SD card out and in again.
Although my SD card seems to work fine, I can find all my pictures, music, etc on it.
EDIT:
I seem to still have version: MiniCM7-2.1.1
While there is already a version: MiniCM7-2.1.4
Would it solve the problem if I update the version by using the recovery?
So also again a "wipe data/factory reset".
Then "apply update from sdcard".
And after that Flash gapps.
Will this maybe solve the poblem?
Alright I solved it.
I updated the kernel from nAa-3 to nAa-6.
I also updated the ROM from CM7-2.1.1 to CM7-2.1.4 into recovery (so also "wipe data/factory reset").
And then it all was solved.
I want to thank you two guys for your time, and yes I pressed the thanks button at both of u
Greetings,

I had exactly the same problem, apparently CM moved all my apps to SD with me asking. It does so automatically.. See my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361073
I just can find anything that will work for me, tried everything, but it appears that GingerDX 12 is the most stable and fastest for me.
With all due respect to the developers, sometimes it seems that with every new release about the same amount of bugs are introduced as fixed..
Glad you got eyerything running...
Anyways Here's the direct link for root explorer and its free :

Hello every one,
This is my first post here but I was trying to search Google in general and especially xda-developers but didn't find answer.
Ok, so I have new Galaxy S 3 from Polish provider Plus GSM. I rooted it and changed ROM at the beginning. I started with ENERGY HD 2.0 because it looks nice - and it's actually very good ROM imo, well done DakiX.
But one thing - why I can't find radio in it? I know, this might sound strange, but there is no radio. Yesterday I tried to change ROM, this time to MIUI Rayglobe. As you may probably know it has plenty of options before installation and there is one to install radio. I did it and it was working as charm so there is no problem with my device (as I hard some phones in US doesn't have this function at all).
Is it just my, I'm doing something wrong?
Thank you for any help and understanding.
Regards from Poland and best in 2013!,
Bartosz.

That "lol" is because it was obvious and I should know it?
Everything is working great, thank you very much!
So, apparently not everything is OK
Like you said, I directly copied FmRadio.apk to system/app using root explorer. And Radio FM icon appeared in application screen.
I turn turn it on easily - no prob. Please check the attachments.
But after turning it on with a button - after couple of sec it's closing and I got notification "Radio FM application was stopped":
Strange fact - I can still hear noise in headphones, even after this error!
So I tried to reopen radio, but all I get is black screen and same notify after 5 sec.
I know this is weird, but maybe there is "another" RadioFM app? I really don't know what is going on here and why it doesn't want to work.
I'm the only one with such strange issue?

Hi there,
I'm running cyanogenmod 11 on my s3 and I'm having difficulty updating/installing whatsapp. I had whatsapp installed and was told I needed to update the app otherwise it'd stop working. I didn't update in time and sure enough it stopped working. I tried to update the app to continue using it but it said I had insufficient storage available. I've got plenty of storage space on both my SD (internal) and external cards and I've checked every partition and there's lots of space. The issue does not seem to relate to lack of space.
Since then I've tried everything to get it working, first uninstalling the app and reinstalling, deleting everything manually through root explorer, then wiping the cache and davik cache, odexing all my apps and then removing all the odex files through lucky patcher. Nothings worked. Unfortunately it doesn't let me use lucky patcher troubleshoot which I've heard works. Everytime I press on troubleshoot in lucky patcher it says I need to update busybox and install supersu, which I've done plenty of times to no avail.
Please can anyone help out. I'm fearing that I'm going to have to restore everything. If anyone knows how to get the troubleshoot in lucky patcher working or just fix my whatsapp issue all together that'd be great. Thanks!
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks.

Not yet. I'm trying to avoid that if possible because I'm currently abroad and away from my computer. A hard reset would put me back onto stock wouldn't it? Is there any other solution out there?
