Change the refresh/polling rate? Trying to fix Swype on the Note! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hey guys!
A little new to this arena, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Swype issue that plagues all of our Notes, and some other phones (like the HTC Rezound).
This is a thread on their bug report forums, describing the exact issue:
http://forum.swype.com/showthread.p...y-words-(thinks-i-lifted-my-finger-off-screen)
This makes Swype unusuable for people who are used to using it very quickly. I only use it because I can type insanely fast with it, but the Note forces me to slow down to the point where the other soft keyboards are faster again.
Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.
Thanks as always <3

OMG another "What ROM to choose?" Thread...

Ok, I hate being a newbie. God I hate being a newbie!
This is a rare problem on electronics forums... there is TOOO much information here!
I've never seen a forum like XDA before. I mean you guys are just freaking brilliant.
I've been into Pocket PCs and Phones for a while... but never into flashing ROMs.
Now with all the apps and tweaks out there, I'm just flooded with information.
I have a Sprint touch pro and after some weird mis-hap I had to hard-reset my phone.
So now I have a blank slate.
I've been doing ALOT of reading today. About 12 hours worth and I'm still left with a "DDDUUUUHHHHH" look on my face.
With SOO many ROMs out there I don't know what to choose.
I don't want a "light and fit" ROM. I LOVE features. I LOVE to show off all the "cool" stuff my phone can do to all the iPhone loving friends I have. I don't care so much about speed. I mean I want fast internet, and good video streaming. Other than that I've got no problem waiting an extra 500ms or whatever for a program to open. I just like having alot of STUFF.
Can any of you not so long ago newbs feel like telling what ROMs you chose and why?
Is there a better list of ROMs out there with a 3-5 sentence description all in one place? I've been to PPCGeeks looking at all the ROMs over there, but my god there's too many!
Thanks for the help guys.
-Jonathan
pm sent offering to chat it out on IM. seems like u have bunches of questions.
NFSFAN 110. Has WM6.5 and TF3D2. Has some apps installed, most ROMs come with the basics, you have to search the forums for everything else you want.

this kind off question is not welcome here
it always ends in fighting
only way to see whats best for you is to get flashing.

[MOD] HTC IME keyboard New Cyanogenmod KB!!!

ok i was just looking around and found this in the regular galaxy dev section and found that this works for our phones too wich makes me really happy and it also gives you plenty of extras along with it and i think i saw the droid x's keyboard on there somewhere too..
here you go guys works flawless for me!!! http://www.hallerud.se/htc_ime_jonasl_hires_27.zip
another mirror for this great app. http://www.mediafire.com/?8b2d08rxwmkaqgf
heres a really nice cyanogenmod themed keyboard just install like the other. http://www.mediafire.com/?9vlz87106kg2mzx
and for those that dont know how to install this here are your instructions!!
1) download files (of course...)
2) unzip files to where ever you want
3) place files on your phone or use adb install to install them.
4) once files are on the phone use a file manager of choice and just install them as you would anything else.
the clicker.apk is for the calibration of the keyboard, but i see no difference in doing it but you can do as you wish its your phone.
and there is no possible way to brick your phone from installing such a simple app but if you manage to do so its your fault, but i will help you out as best as i can to fix it!
i did not make this keyboard or the theme the theme was made by gimpsta and the keyboard itself was made by Jonasl i am looking to find a good samsung or vibrant image to use as a spacebar pic so any suggestions would be great
more info on this keyboard and a easy way to theme it to your liking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179
if you theme use 27 high NOT 27 HIGH FROYO it wont work.
Forget that KB! The best one is the ported Droid Multitouch keyboard with voice to text. It's better than Swype, Swiftkey, HTC IME, etc...
Superfast.

I love it, but sadly it doesn't work properly on this phone.Labels on the keys are tiny! Can't even see anything.
lets all chill
Its my first time posting here on XDA. I have been a Lurker for about 2 years and have become a mid level user. I have followed multiple forums (nexus, mytouch, hero, etc) my question is why is everyone becoming so negative and brash with each other. This used to be a place where people who were tech savvy and wanted to make their phones work better for themselves would come to ask questions and receive answers from people who may have known a bit more than them. Lets all just try and help each other out.
OK... all ranting aside I say this keyboard is great. BUT... we do need to figure out how to make the letters bigger but the overall performance of the keyboard is good.
Oh... and BTW I realize this is in the wrong section but it needed to be said and everyone harping on the beginners for posting in the wrong sections was starting to bug me. To all of those who are mature enough to politely answer them and let them know the correct sections for next time... thank you. So to reiterate my relavant question. Is there a way to make the letters on this keyboard bigger?
Yes, back on topic, sorta, I would love for someone to figure out a way to get the Droid X's keyboard working correctly. It's a great keyboard but its unusable right now on the Galaxy as the key labels are too small. Wonder if it's a font issue?

Trying to be as mature as possible- this would do much better as a new thread, requesting someone develop it... I wish I knew enough in the coding world to help...
Essentially, can we get some new keyboards for this phone??? That and CM5/6 seem to be the front runner requests
On a Vibrant, using this app-thingy
its working guys enjoy

It has to do with the rom that's on our phone, on nexus one letters are bigger and look great.
Do I need to root my phone to install this? How do you install it? Copy to sd and run it from there? Once installed, can I uninstall it if I dont like it? Thanks!
Never mind found it
Danr like I was saying... He looked and found exactly what he was looking for... A simple search goes a long way...

Thanks skater4690.
I was using the 1.6 but it was buggy.
Can anybody tell me the difference between this keyboard and SwYpe other than it's supposidly faster and better?
I just rode on the bus and train this morning using my thumb and swype. Had a great time using Swype. Does this keyboard have a feature-set similar to this?
If not, i'm not that interested.
And on a side note, I think the ****-swinging here also has to stop.
We're all here in it to crush Apple and their Steve Jobs ****-sucking audience.
Peace.

[Q] bluetooth pairing issue

Anyone out explain the issue with the bluetooth pairing on this thing. I've tried to pair a couple different phones but no cigar. I looked all over this forum to see if there was a fix but haven't seen a solution only other complaints. When I flash to a new ROM will that fix the poblem? If not how? What did you guys do?
Are you trying to use stock rom? Most people here have no idea how stock rom performs with most functions.
You might want to visit my page gtab for dummies.
Awesome website!
I checked out your web site earlier today from the reply you gave me last night on some other stuff. I can't tell you enough how appreciated this site is. I read every last word of each section and have a much better understanding. I would like to have a better understanding of each ROM. Like what would make me choose one over another? They have to be reasons to pick one over another. What does one do that the others don't? On your web site a brief description of each one could help us dummies know which one would serve our needs better. It's just an idea that could cut down on future questions. I love the site and will be visiting often. Thanks for all of that effort GoodIntentions!
Good idea.
Pros and cons
I thought about this a bit more. Maybe a list of the pros and cons for each ROM could help. If I knew the down side for each ROM it would definitely push me in one direction or another.
I agree with the Pros and Cons idea, I'm in the process of trying to work one up, but alas its seems my knowledge has become slightly outdated don't you hate that? Running CM7, I've got lots of cons but compared to what I had before I stuck with it. Switching to VeganTab I'll let you know how that goes but I'm thinking it may be a permanent switch.
I've never had any trouble pairing with my phone with the roms I tried. Make sure your gtab is visible.

Words with Friends

Okay...I may be really bad at using the search function or the answer to my question isnt here.
I have a tablet that is running froyo. It isnt upgradable. I am looking for some help with the WWF app as the letters on the bottom of the screen cover up the bottom of the game board. Is there any way to fix this, or any version that will work on a froyo tablet?
I'll also add that I would even settle for a version where the gameboard is much smaller.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!!
Ok... Am I posting this thread in the right place?
This issue is really bothering me and I can't figure it out. I just installed the same apk an my wife's tablet (7 in widescreen Kyros) and it looks great. Mine is a LePan with 4:3 screen. Is there nothing I can do to get this to look right on my tablet?
Is there a better forum for me to start this thread where it will get more views?

Speech output stops in middle of the sentence

I wanted to show some cool features to my friends, but when I make a google voice search, the speech output interrupts after 2 or 3 seconds. This is very annoying, any idea how to fix this?
I've noticed this but it oddly is not all things... if you do the voice search "what is iphone" it reads loads out quite happily... where if you say "call dominos" it just stops half way through lol.....
The problem with the speech output is another flaw, one of many, in the TrueSmart firmware and cannot be corrected without changes to the firmware source and a recompile. Since no one but MTK has the secret to compiling a bootable firmware for the x201 devices, only they and Umeox can fix this. Since they recognize no incentive to them to fix it, they probably won't. Maybe it will work in the upcoming TrueSmart2 devices...or maybe not. Buy one when they eventually come out ! Throw more money at MTK and Umeox in hopes for a different outcome ?

lol who the hell is even going to buy a TS2 after all of this...
The single biggest feature I wish Omate had put in would have been OLED screen simply because then you could have very simple but always on Clock... would have been awesome
Old iPod Nano screens were cheaper.

No fix? What a pity.
Come on, guys from MTK. Make a FW fix.
This is the only issue that bothers me.
Make the fix and and least I am a happy customer!
Still not good with the new firmware...
Please Omate guys, fix this issue!

This isn't omate here - if you have nothing to say, please keep the noise down, it makes it easier to see if any real work is happening...
Sorry for that, but I was redirected from official Omate homepage to here. And I can't imagine that the Omate guys will ignore this forum. I just wanted to mention that my desired features or bugfixes aren't implemented in the new firmware. But ok, i won't mention it again when next FW release is out
Was anybody able to find a fix for this?
It has been quite a while, but maybe someone found a solution in the meanwhile? It would still be great to habe google search working on Omate!

Not in 4.2, but supposedly fixed in 4.4:

The KK ROM (after a lot of flashing!) works great for me, but I do not use Google Search.
