downgrade from ics - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
I have tried new ics. As it nice is also terrible with battery....
Is there any way to downgrade it and then flash o2 firmware I have? I did try to flash it but setup wizard was crashing after reboot and I was stuck on that.
Any help will be appricated

Make a full wipe and install any stock gingerbread rom with ODIN.

After downgrading did you factory reset? That may fix the setup error.

After downgrading I'm stuck on setup wizard so I have no option for factory reset.
Need to downgrade as 10h-12h battery is a joke.

Sure you do. Reboot to recovery (power off, then hold Vol-Up + Home + Power), and wipe data.

thanks guys, it helped but.... kies is saying its not supported any more now. I know for fact firmware I uploaded should be ok, but maybe is cause of root I did with ics?

Kies will only show a firmware if all the codes match once you mess you change them .
Go to branded providers roms post in dev section download O2 rom .

I'm assuming the latest official ROM for your phone and network is Gingerbread.
Download and install Fus Downloader
Using Fus Downloader, get the gingerbread firmware for your exact phone (make sure product code, PDA, CSC and Phone match your phone)
Flash it with ODIN.
Once you phone has started, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset.
Once that's done and your phone has booted again, flash the same ROM again.
Kies should now recognise your phone.
I had the same problem and this worked for me. What phone do you have? (country and network)

i have samsung galaxy s2 i9100 Uk O2.
im gonna try fus downloader, never heard of it before. big thanks guy for all help

beggin You are the man. it worked, big thanks

Concerning the battery - i have stumbled upon this problem also.
Everything went away after few cycles discharging and charging. Now it is approx 20 % better than on GB.
Just be patient. Give it some time.

Does this work for unbranded phones? I have a Unbranded UK GT-I9100. What region would i choose since they all have a network preference listed next to them?

That's the wrong one. There's another one as shown in the picture above for Unbranded SGS2...it's not grouped with the other United Kingdom ones.

Strange that one is not on my fus downloader I get the europe GT-I9100LKAXEU
which gives the same details?? Fus 2.1??

If you do decide to go back to an ICS rom try Criskelo Servan Team ICS V5 works great. I get @ around 36hrs of battery using very often during the 36hr period having wifi & GPS on constantly. Using Facebook, YouTube alot.

Yes, you can brick your device. I said which one is proper for your phone to avoid any errors while flashing 16Gb model of i9300. But if you don't have a knowledge about pit's and you even don't know which one to use than better live repartition options to someone else or don't touch this at all for your own safety. But stop asking if you are not listening the answers.
You asking about .pit but I suppose you have no idea which type of Rom it should be flashed with if you are trying to resurrect your phone.
i9.0.1.3k galaxy imperator
I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_I9300XXLH1_HOME.tar.md5
This was the firmware grabbed directly from KIES during an update, so that would be same CSC, I9300OXABLG8.
And yesterday i reflashed the same firmware with the mentioned .pit.
I won't say that i'm sure it will work for you, since i'm not in a position to be sure, but it seems the only difference between us is the color of the phone.
Also i had messed up my partitions, but CWM was working for me partly. So slightly different situation.
Personally i would try to reflash CWM first. And if it doesn't boot in recovery still, then try to repartition and flash the original firmware.
By the way, just to correct myself, mine is also 'unbranded'. I meant it as in 'from uk' in the previous post
How about given ppl some info, like how and why u SEMI-bricked your phone.rom, kernel and what did u do to try to solve it..repartitioning is the last resort to turn to.
First try and flash a recovery(cwm) with odin(eg.with "toolkit v5") and flash a rom from that.
If that doesn't work, then flash the 3 files PDA,modem, csc from odin(when finished flashing, the phone will boot and this can take 10min to boot).
NOW if these attempts fail, then u can try repartitioning..
But why are u flashing your 600$ phone without reading on how to repair a soft-brick.it is very easy to repair after some reading.there is detailed info everywhere on xda.
Just Google: flash with odin,galaxy gs3 soft(semi)-bricked..
So the key to repair your phone is google...
Guys I already have tonnes of posts by me for the same purpose. I have tried every single thing that could resurrect this phone. I haven't flashed the PIT File yet. And yes i don't know much about it but I have been searching the XDA forums and I found no solid answer. Many people ended up in bricks and got there motherboards replaced by Samsung just by flashing the wrong PIT File. That is why I asked this because I don't wanna risk my phone. I have even tried replacing the NAND Memory (Consider my old posts). This too hasn't fixed it.
I'm not a noob that much but I do know somethings and don't know some too!
Thought I'd add to this rather than start a new thread...
Could do with a bit of advice...my phone battery died overnight and when I plugged it in to recharge and start it up again it wouldn't get past the Samsung start screen...
I managed to reflash it with the latest 9300 stock and then flashed again with Miui India...
Everything ok until it started restoring my messages when it decided to reboot and now it cant get into anything other than upload mode...
The PIT looks like it needs flashed...I've a UK i9300, 32GB and could do with a pointer or 2...sammobile.com is down at the minute (bad gateway), is there anywhere i can get the firmware to try and to fix it?

I had the same thing. Phone was charging - next minute it was stuck on boot screen. Tried everything to restore but nothing worked. Like you would only boot into d/l menu but Odin wouldnt do anything. I took it to Sammy service centre who diagnosed dead battery. Completely dead - no cells working!. They said they would replace battery and reflash but today now saying they cant do this and phone is getting sent to samsung now. No doubt in my mind that this is all caused by catastrophic battery failure but I bet its screwed the mobo also. My phone was rooted but running stock os. Fingers crossed they repair or replace.

For anyone reading this unhelpful post, DO NOT TRY FLASHING A PIT, it will brick your phone.
For some reason Odin doesn't work well if you use PIT with one-part rom. I had a similar problem, my friend flashed rom for totally other phone but luckily he had an /efs backup and working download mode (flashing normal rom failed with anything else than bootloader, probably changed partition table).
Pit and 1-part rom didn't work as well, so I went back to 4.0.X and flashed 3-part rom with a pit file... and guess what. It worked, it literally bringed back whole the system, only /efs content was missing so I restored his efs backup and revived his phone.
Luckily one of my polish folks prepared such 3-part rom.

If everything else fails you can try (on your own risk!) to flash above 3-part rom with a pit included and re-partition ticked. It flashes very old XXALEF (4.0.X) without sudden death fix and should be only used when you really need to repartition your phone. If you pass such flashing immediately flash something newer, f.e. XXEMG4.

If it is a one Part Firmware like this one, no you can't. AFAIK you would need a 3 Part Firmware which consists of a Code, modem and csc part. There isn't a 3 part Firmware available right now.
What you could do is flash you current modem (your Providers Modem) seperately after flashing the Firmware.

Yes, you can use Mobile Odin Pro to install and root without increasing the counter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35057300#post35057300
Download the file from the OP and unzip it to your internal or extenal SD.
Launch Mobile Odin Pro, tap "Open file" and select the unzipped .tar.md5 file.
Now tick "Enable EverRoot", "Inject Superuser (SuperSU)", and "Inject Mobile Odin".
If you want a completely clean installation, also tick "Wipe data and cache" and "Wipe Dalvik Cache" (Warning: this erases all installed apps and settings).
Then tap on "Flash firmware" to start the installation process.
Thanks, but before the mobile odin can be used the phone must be rooted, the question is: which is the best method for root the phone by the first time, without increase the counter and apear the yellow triangle? . I think that one option is flashing CF-root (with PC odin) and after use triangle away.
Thanks one more time.
This is what I did. Flashed the phone /w PC Odin and used triangle away afterwards. Worked flawlessly.

If you go to System settings > About device > Status, does "Device status" say "Normal" or "Modified"?
I also rooted it with PC odin using this tutorial (stock recovery method) initially:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2
Unfortunately, Triangle Away was not able to reset the counter successfully (it was still showing "1"), and "Device status: Modified".
Anyway, as I was already rooted I then went the Mobile Odin Pro way selecting all the wipes. This brought back the counter to zero and "Device status: Normal" and gave me root access at the same time.

I initially installed this full image incl the modem on my EE N7105 (am using with Three UK) and the speeds were all over the place.
So I then reflashed the original image and then this image minus the modem and I can say that the speeds have improved drastically...
Strangely I am also getting a signal albiet 1bar in in some places where I had zero signal before.
Don't know what this build contains to improve on the signal strength...
Also battery life has not depleted and seems to be better than the previous build.
I'm somehow getting horrible Battery Life when i flash the included (SA) Modem. It's about 4-6% per Hour while before i had 2-3% guess i have to flash again the Provider Firmware and then the new one excluding the Modem. I'm on Vodafone Germany

You put phone into download mode and flash through Odin. There are many guides on here for directions
Here's one guide. Read the full first page

yeah i know, many guides i have done, walked through, but nothing helps. odin flashes without problem. phone restarts and still no recovery with bootloop... flashed this and that.. and still same issues.
Flash JB leak firmware via odin (comes as 3 parts - Pda, phone and csc). Then see if it boots. If it doesn't, try to enter recovery and factort reset.
Report back what happens.

I've seen a couple of these cases happening lately, my bet is on the bootloader, eventhough I don't encourage people to try flashing it. Or, as always, OP is holding something back.
Neo, I'm not familiar with the ROM being downloaded from a non-stable internet connection and I know you get them from an internet cafe. Now, is it possible that Odin would allow (flash) a corrupted ROM?

I literally did this yesterday. After you flash stock you have to boot into 3e (stock recovery) and wipe data. This will stop the bootloop and you can carry on with rooting if that's what you want.
It's better to wipe dalvik, you need CWM for that, that's why it's always suggested to flash a custom ROM when on a bootloop.

ok now its official. phone memory is problem, i went to service today and they told me that when i flash with odin the values that i flash dont stay in the memory, on the next boot
those values get clear, memory bug of some kind, he said that he can manual and direct approach to the motherboard and write recovery directly but he cant say if it will always
work like it is suppose to.
Hum....I think you're getting conned, as the matter of fact, he must be reading this right now.

Now,when i-m starting KIES,it says "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies"
and as product code, it says : (ALB) instead of (COA).
tryed with Odin [sammobile firmware] and also tryed with Kies restore.. with my PhoneModel and S/N.
nothing changed, still (ALB) instead of (COA).
what should i do? the only way to change my countrycode, is to root phone, and i don't want to.
thanks!
What do you want Samsung updates only via Kies and don't use XDA ??
What exactly are you trying to achieve ??

Kies shows what is on the phone .
So you want official Samsung firmware updates only via Kies and do not want to use XDA .
I see you do not want to root either .
Kies Tools Firmware Upgrade and Initialization .
outside of that i know nothing about Kies and suggest if that does not work you find a Kies forum or take the phone to a service centre .

i wanna send my phone to warranty, and i don't know if there-s anything to worry about that (ALB).
i flashed with Odin, COA version, and it still shows (ALB). that's why i-m asking.
Check the phone's actual CSC code by typing *#1234# into your phone dialer.
If that also gives you ALB then try a factory reset from inside phone settings then download and flash the COA rom again. Make sure you've completely uninstalled Kies before installing odin on your pc and you get a success message after flashing.
Alternatively, install philz recovery and use it to flash the correct CSC file (there's a sticky for this) then triangle away and flash just the stock recovery to be ready for warranty return.

ALB is Albania
Have you done what JJE said in post 4 Kies Tools Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
When you downgrade you should boot into recovery, clear the Cache, clear the Dalvik Cache and do a Factory Reset, you could try flashing the firmware again and doing this after flashing

i tried with Kies Tools Firmware Upgrade and Initialization, and it downgraded to android 4.1.2 la fleur.
in soft description, was (COA), but when it was installed on the phone, and i plugged it to PC, kies still shows (ALB).
I did not clear cache / factory resetted after installing software with kies. This could solve?

Please help, i9300 possibly bricked

Hi,
I flashes ArchiDroid last night, the rom worked fine and everything was going alright. When I woke up during the middle of the night I noticed the phone was on the samsung logo but didn't think anything of it. This morning the battery was dead and it was still stuck on the samsung logo, it won't boot to recovery but does boot to download mode.
I've just tried flashing i9300 Vodafone OFW (not my carrier, but would it make a difference?) via Odin and get the following error message:

The file I'm trying to flash in Odin is the stock i9300 Vodafone UK OFW so yeah, only difference is my phone is not on Vodafone, it's unlocked to all networks but I can't find OFW for that.

Your nand maybe corrupt try all options if they fail then try rescue firmware here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6 << only use as a last resort and read instructions carefully.

what other options would you suggest until I declare that as a last resort?
edit: is there anyway I can save my pictures before I continue with this?
also, how do i open the other options in odin?

If stock roms are failing to flash with nand error then their is not much more options to try other than emergency firmware you could try flashing a recovery like PhilZ recovery with odin and see if it will boot into that then try to make a backup. (but I don't hold out much luck with that).
If that fails try rescue firmware in the link I provided but if that fails than it is a service repair.

If you are having problems with odin then try a different version some work better than others. >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539 << 1.85 seems to work well for me.
