No, look at specs vs vibrant
http://g2.t-mobile.com/g2-specs
The big issue i have hear regarding the g2 is its major hinge problem. But thats just what i heave read and hear, not from personal experience. Do so more research, head to a T-mobile store and check one out for yourself.
I have it is good
Hmmm ....

I wouldn't do it personally. I hate physical keyboards. I'll take Swype and a smaller phone any day.
It comes down to what keyboard do you like and can you get 4G speeds. I can't where I am (they say we have H but i get the same speeds as all my friends with MyTouch 4's).
I think yea preferences
I will do it
For kb
Stock google
Stronger cpu
Love my vibrant but need a little junk in my trunk
Thanks guys especially tw and eugene and master

G2 doesn't have a [fully]stock android system
Who cares? If you want gaming and movies the vibrant wins hands down. Other than that g2 is better. Both are about equal but what i said above about games and movies

Also it comes down to preferences
Just like roms

As many have said. If you use your phone for games and music keep the vibrant. I have the g2 and the vibrant and imo the vibrant has its downsides as does the g2. The screen on the g2 looks fuzzy compared to the vibrant and the speaker sucks! What got me into getting the g2 was the keyboard the long lasting battery and the trackpad...If you have any questions ask me and ill answer them
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
the question is that do you want a keyboard??
so yeaaa if you need a keyboard then go with the g2 .there is no such reason trading your vibrant for a g2.
i had both, i say vibrant
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874754
I have a g2, my brother a vibrent, and I say g2. My brother has sent his vibrent back 3 times so far. He has had it for 2 months. He also has bricked it many times (his doing I'm sure). I have yet to brick my g2, and I have swap many roms and kernals. His GPS is crap, along with his 3g. My g2 has everything his vibrent has and more. My g2 has 4g speeds, wifi hotspot( I even play mw2 on ps3 with no lag), a qwerty keypad, swype, 2.2 froyo, faster cpu, and a more true form of a google phone. I have my phone OC to 1.8MHz and my battery last all day with the help of setcpu. The Z hinge is not much of a problem, only if you lay on your back and use the keypad, but the way you hold the phone stops that problem. The g2 is able to do every thing the vibrent can and more but in the end its all up to you. Its your time and money, go to the store and take a look for your self.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Your cpu is not faster. Its more efficient. And dont act like the g2 is that much better. In fact if my vibrant had 4g like the next one id suffice to say the vibrant was plain better.
I do like the feel of the g2. Solid and if your getting robbed it can defend your life. Keyboard is nice.
The 4"screen on the vibrant really is better to type with. Swype is better than the physical kep pad.
And last but best of all the screen on the vibrant smashes the g2. Your talking two diffrent generations of screens.
Roms cancel any os disputes.
After the vibrant gets 2.2 official it will be more efficient. And its still plenty efficient.
The gps in the vibrant is trash. Some work. Some dont.
The vibrant 4g will be a better phone.

I'm thinking about trading my Vibrant for a G2 today. Is there anything I should know before I do? Is it easy to flash? What good ROMS are available? Does T-Mobile charge extra for 4G?
Yikes! Just got my brand New Galaxy Tab last Tuesday and now I've been informed that there is a Note 10.1 around the corner.
The "only" difference I've seen so far is that it will pack a 1.4 processor, stock ICS, and external sd card slot.
Since I got this one in Costco is returnable. However, I think the Note will start @ $500 (maybe more...)
I dunno... You guys think is worth the wait?
It's just that I have a SGS2 and is sooo much faster than this Tab. Will flashing a custom ROM to this tab make a difference in speed?
Thank you for taking my question.

You missed the whole point huh, the pressure sensitive stylus?
Value is a subjective thing though, only you know what you need out of the device. Going with the note will surely mean a longer wait for development of custom ROMs. If the added features make up for that as well as the delay between launch and shipment then go for it.
Me personally i find the idea of the stylus intriguing but then the ram limitation (the 1gb of ram, not sure if this is an Android system restriction at this time but I'm guessing so) is cause for pause for me. We all look at lag critically and i always wonder how additional system ram would improve that. If increasing it on a standard PC improves performance to a degree then surely on a tablet it would as well. Of course that would add additional cost but I'm sure many would spring for premium models with more memory. I bring up this issue because of Samsung partnering with adobe on the inclusion of Photoshop touch with the note. Moving towards marketing tablets for graphic production using the stylus needs to come along with the ability to do it well without the lag and unresponsiveness shown in the demos. Surely there are driver optimizations that can help yes but anyone who uses Photoshop regularly to do production knows that ram is hugely important.
Baby steps though, the note is certainly a welcome addition to the tablet arena. If an LTE one comes out in the next year is certainly consider it.

Need to flash Pershoots latest kernel. His droid basement blog would probably be the easiest to find since I don't have a link to his thread here handy.
I'm using setcpu also and had the 1000 limit. Flashing his kernel gave me the1400 option with no other changes needed.

Return it and keep saving to get the galaxy note 10.1. I read a couple weeks back they were holding of release til june to switch out the dual core processor for a quad core processor. I think it would be worth returning any tablet to get the galaxy note 10.1 if this rumor is true.

If this rumor is true I will crap my pants
id wait if i was in your position.. really. return that **** and use your desktop or laptop till it comes out, i wish i would have.
It has been upgraded to quad core 1.2 ghz so return your tab and get the note 10.1

Google may also be releasing a Nexus tablet next month - in the lower price-point range as well. Hold off for now.
I'm starting to get more and more irritated with this phone. I sent my galaxy nexus back for this one and I am starting to regret it. Every time I browse facebook and swipe up or down sometimes it lags about a split second and then it will scroll. It also does it on web pages. I also play the drag racing game and I experience some lag in that game as well. Has anybody had problems like this?

The only time I experience any type of lag with this phone is occasionally on the home screen and that's probably due to having a ton of widgets on all 5 of my panels.

picky are we? lol
here is the thing brother..... you gotta keep this in mind, when these devices are designed/programmed(but this has mostly to do with the programming aspect) the developers try to find a healthy balance between performance and battery efficiency. every now and then you may see it sputter ever so slightly, but it is intentionally designed that way. your other option is to have your GPU in overdrive every time you even breathe on your screen and suck your battery every time you send a text.
don't be so picky. you have a 400mHz GPU with multi-point rendering capability.... it's not the hardware brother....
Sense 4.0 lags sometimes, it sucks but I don't think we can totally eliminate it. I notice it on different occasions, usually when I wake the phone up or open the app drawer.

you are basing "better" on blips in the user interface? lol come on maannn
and for the record... every nexus i have picked up was laggy as balls.... maybe that has something to do with the fact that it has the same GPU in it as the OG nexus
just sayin
i mean if it is TERRIBLY BAD then i would say it is the rom you are on, some misc tweak, maybe your 2d forced rendering isn't checked under the settings, who knows.... but i have had mine for a week now and have maybe seen it sputter like once. and i use it pretty heavily.
The EVO is better for some coming off different phones with completely different hardware. The evo 4g vs LTE is a no brainer. LTE wins. The nexus on the otherhand has similar specs as the EVO. (Dual core, ics, screen resolution?) Anyways you get the point. Get a phone based on personal preference. Not because its "the next big thing" the nexus is a great phone for some. Definetly not for me. Hence the reason why I got the LTE rather than the ole so stunning S3 or nexus..
hardware is beyond than extraordinary. Root the beast and unleash its full potential (when the proper Roms are fully functional). Or wait out official HTC updates.. my 2 cents

Maybe you're just having a buyer's remorse cause you didn't go with the GS3 and convincing yourself the Evo is not good enough.
Two top phones right now for sprint is Evo LTE and GS3, everything else falls short.
The only stuttering or lag I get is sometimes on my lockscreen. I am using the weather lockscreen and the weather will stutter it's way in instead of being fluid. I think it is just the phone coming out of sleep.

Lol thanks for all the feedback guys and for not completely criticizing me. I never wanted the S3 to begin with. But I will agree with some things that were said about sense being a little buggy and what not. And I didn't get this phone because it was the next big thing. I’ve actually noticed this as well and I agree that it’s a little annoying. When scrolling in pretty much any app, my finger will move about 0.2” before the screen reacts. Once it realizes that my finger is on there, there is no problem tracking.
I downloaded Touch Test from the market and confirmed that this is not a hardware issue. In that app, the moment my finger touches the display, it begins tracking. The lock ring also moves immediately on the lock screen, so it must be something in certain apps.
I have noticed lag in the browser when scrolling when I have flash enabled. I noticed on my Galaxy S2 that when I would scroll down a web page with flash content, any flash content that is active continues to to be active while scrolling and it was VERY smooth. On the EVO LTE however, anything active flash content will become inactive. The lag I have experienced seems to be when the Evo takes a split second to "pause" any active flash before it begins scrolling. The more flash on a page, the more lag I experience. I've simply turned off my flash player. It's annoying to have to do that, but I have come to terms with it.

Just curious what everyone thinks about their galaxy note 2? Anything you really like about it, really don't like about it? I just got it && i love it! Touchwiz isnt that bad to me. May try aosp but i dont know yet.
I'll never go aosp on this phone due to the superior features of touchwiz. Multi Window alone is worth keeping touchwiz for.
Sent from my Note II using Tapatalk 2
I agree with Mac. There are too many features in touch wiz that I wouldn't want to loss by going to AOSP. multiwindow and s note are things I have integrated into my normal day.
That said, I still think this phone on touch wiz is better than my old galaxy S3 on AOSP. The battery life alone was worth the upgrade.

I absolutely love this phone. I came from the droid x2 so any current phone would be a large upgrade but to come to this phone is mind blowing. It's like I went from a dumb phone to a smart phone. The only thing that I found that's an issue is the heat sometimes.
I came from the Droid Charge...the difference is almost indescribable. I have pretty much stopped looking at battery life. I get a day and a half regardless of how much I use it. In a word..fantastic.

I love *almost* everything about it, I just wish it was LCD. I hate AMOLED, and that fact alone almost made me get a DNA. I'm glad I got this one instead, and the screen tuning in Perseus makes the screen look much better, but I admit that I still have some concerns over the longevity of RGB-stripe AMOLED. We'll see in time. I don't usually keep a phone more than a year anyway, so I'll probably have a new phone before any long term problems crop up.
I'm happy with the note 2 (with cleanrom); I woudln't mind it being a bit narrower and thinner and having an external sd slot (like the razr) and hdmi out (I know it has mhl) but otherwise it is fine and dandy. I would not have purchased it if the bootloader had not been broken as I really dislike verizon 'enhancements' to the device (if you call breaking things an enhancement).

Kind of wish the blue one was available when I made the purchase but otherwise white is fine and dandy.

I just got mine yesterday, came from a Galaxy Nexus. I absolutely love it. The bigger screen is awesome. And the battery life is SO SO SO much better. The GNex would drop 70% in my pocket while at school, and I could never get more than 2 hours of screen on time. Whereas with this, on one charge, I'm at 4 hours of screen on time, I've flashed 3 ROMs, and did an hour and a half of driving with bluetooth audio playing music, and my phone just hit 5%. Plus, the GNex was starting to feel slow and choppy, and this is the exact opposite.
Only thing it is missing is the blacked out screen and on screen buttons from the galaxy nexus. Great phone!

THIS!
Just wondering what other's benchmark scores were on Antutu? Do you have your phone OC'ed? Mine was always around 8200 however after trying out a new kernel to fix my call audio issue the benchmark fell to 7800.. Is that a big difference? It seems that all of the devices scoring over 9k are all on 4.1.2, is there really anything to that? Just kind of wanted to get a discussion going since I do not see any other threads about it on the Q&A section.
Edit- Well I just moved my apps back to the sd after doing all of the flashing and now it's back up to 8228!
Good info. Did you run the stability tests also and were they the same at the higher speeds. Also are you using the paid version or free? Thanks
Edit: Mine were only 7377. And I see there is no paid version. Seems I have work to do to speed things up..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Of course no comparison between users is possible because speeds depend more on the cellular/data traffic at the tower you are connected to than the ROM/modem you are trying to measure.
These measurements can be slightly useful for a user to compare ROMs/modems in the area they typically use their service.
Your difference of 400 is the size of a text message, so no, not significant. But it feels better, I'm sure.
It's checking the speed of the CPU, ram, video and SD card read/ write right? What difference would modem and such have?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The OP mentioned call audio issues, and benchmarks, so I thought he was measuring network speed. If I assumed incorrectly, please forgive me.
Yeah maybe your right now that I re-read it. And I just loaded the program so really don't know what all it measures..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I was more or less just wondering if the stats were changed based on what kernel or ROM you may be running or if there was something else that could change the performance. After seeing the sgs4 benchmarks I feel like that phone must be the smoothest thing ever because it is head and shoulders better scores than the note.
