Most likely not, as your own GPS device uses a different system than Google Maps. I could be wrong, but as far as I know, it's not possible.

what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Can't mean Google maps because that's synced from Google themselves

Navigation System in google Maps not available for my country?

Hi All,
Google Maps already installed on my SGS2 as you know but when I want to navigate, it says navigation not available for my country>>>saudi arabia...
What can I do to have navigation for my country? I searched this forum but didn't get anything or for some other smartphones.
I shall be thankful for help.

Just download and install the apk, you don't need root...
This doesn't unlock your original Maps but installs a different modified one that supports world wide navigation, so if you've got root you might wanna freeze the original Maps along with Navigation, Latitude and Places and install the apk with the modified ones.

Thanks a million hank00k for your reply.
I tried that apk but failed to install over the previous version. There is no method I found in that thread on how to install in un rooted devices?
Well I don't exactly remember which post I downloaded mine from but I guess there's a different version for non root users.
Here's the apk I use, give it a try

does anyone know why navigation is not available in most countries?
I mean, I used the method posted here, and it works great in my country, why is that I can't do it 'officially' and have to resort to a hack to do it?
do you know the reason?

that setting is Google now.....
Unfortunately, you don't have it
I dunno why

Maybe you are usung google apps for business?
If so, you have to activate google now in your apps for business administration settings.
Hope that helps,

Region Dependent maybe?
I'm not sure though but Google Now may be region dependent? I have the same problem with the recent 4.1.2 update here in the Philippines. I will try to install a UK firmware and well see how it goes.

Google now is location dependent thus, it wont work on some network/country/region... just like google wallet. It was working when I was in the US but not here in the Philippines.

PS: Seems Offline feature has been removed! Was Google high
Typing OK maps in search bar will just save the current screen, not how it supposed to work!

Off line is my favorite feature. Looks like we need the older apk to revert back. LOL
It's not only a favorite feature, it's a most important feature. I didn't update, and I won't, doesn't matter how good the UI is or gonna be.

As of now, the current version I am using is 6.14.4 and don't think that the new update has been released in India.
Latitude service also retiring from 9th august. And it will be no more part of map.

Nb:i have installed your file directly overwriting the old file but i can,t see any difference with the old version and it,s no any offline save maps yet.

I had 2 files on system/app and data/app because I only the new had installed over the Installer. Now I deleted you and installed the 7.0.1 with the Installer and have only one file in data/app.
The new 7.0.1 has no offline maps.

What we want it to activate the navigation option. Every device with maps loaded also have the navigation icon however in some countries, when you click the navigation it says "your country is not supported but you still can check the maps". The "maps" find places, show them, calculates routes but it does not follow you, voice guide or re-calculate the route if you go out of it. It just shows you the ways like it was made with a pencil an a paper map.
Anyway, I have found an interesting solution, I have installed PA ROM and probably it can not tell which country I am in right now so updates every Google app to the latest version regardless (On Turkish Sammy ROM it did not see the update yet). And the navigation is activated vithout voice guide. But still it shows me the turns, follows me and changes the route if I go out.

Navigation App

Somehow I accidentally deleted the Navigation (blue arrow) app that came with the phone.
I tried to find that very same app at the Play Store. No luck.
I go back to the Verizon Store and asked a rep how I can get that same app back on my phone.
He said I have to do a reset of the phone.
Can anyone tell me that I am overlooking something re: getting that app back without doing a reset?
Thanks
Dan
The Navigation APP comes with google maps. Try to download Maps from the store again.
If you cant let me know that I try to get the apk file and upload it to you

Interesting how long term Verizon employees do not know stuff like this.

Actually it turns out that the recent update to Goggle Maps will eliminate the Navigation app altogether.
If you (like I did) want that (blue arrow) app back you will need to uninstall the new version of Goggle Maps.
Then it returns to the old format.

can any one get me the blue arrow that was the old nav apk that came with google maps i like the new maps but still want the old navi thing i had it in a backup on my hd but it failed and lost it

It does have a compass. But you need a "compass" app to use it. Or GPS app or some similar software that needs it.
Like the FM radio. You need an app with GUI to access the radio.
Go to the Google Play store and choose any compass app you wish and it will work. They're many. Search "compass". Or click this link.
