I got this new mhl adapter at:
http://www.amazon.com/Menotek-Adapt...ensation/dp/B005F9W6DU/ref=reg_hu-rd_add_1_dp
I can see the phone screen in the monitor with no problems, I can browse the net, I can move from screen to screen and application to appliation with no problems except when plyaing videos. Whatever I try to play a video on either web browser (stock/DolphinHD), the youtube app, Netflix or a video saved in my sd card I get the same problem, the video plays about 1 frame per every 2 or 3 seconds and no audio. Most of the times a power off/on gets it back but not all the time. Sometimes no matter what I do it wont play. This problem seems to show mostly when I used my work monitor going from hdmi to dvi-d. At the begining I thought it was just the hdmi/dvi conversion but it does works sometimes so it has to be a software glitch. I also noticed that when it works fine I can hear the audio coming off the phone. Not sure if that is a clue. I can also use the bluetooth to hear the audio but that on itself dont seem to have any effect on when will it work. I do have the "Disable USB debugging mode" selected. I have yet to have this problem on either of my home hdtv's but I seldom use those for that. I will mostly be using the one at work...
Anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?
Thanks, many thanks...
I disbanded little bit of checking and if use the audio jack the video plays fine. I test it while it was not playing and by inserting the headphones jack the movie will play fine and if I pulled the jack out it started freezing again. So I guess this is "solved" for now.

So recently I bought an LG Optimus M from this guy on Craiglist. He used the phone for about 2 months, for basic things like calling, texting, and light web browsing. But suddenly one day the sound stopped working. I bought the phone for $30 since I want to use it as a wifi only device for music, apps, games, internet, and videos. The phone was on the default ROM with no user downloaded apps.
So when I got the phone, whenever I would adjust the ringer volume, the earpiece would start to make this weird hissing/vacuum noise. This would go on until the phone was restarted.
The speaker and mic don't work. Music and videos simply don't play any sound. Google voice search says no sound was heard. Using earphones (apple earphones with mic and remote) didn't help either, but I noticed the phone recognized when earphones were removed, by auto-pausing videos.
I thought it might be a kernel problem, so I rooted it and installed Cyanogen 7.1 (CM7). This didn't fix the problem.
After sometime though, I went to record a video. I opened it on the computer and noticed the sound recorded too o_o ! I then tested out my earphones, and well what do you know, they worked! Well, the left side was fine but the right side had really low volume. (they worked fine on other devices though). So something is weird about this phone.
After an hour the problem came back again. And I noticed something, there is a headset icon on the status bar, indicating that a headset is plugged in, yet I have nothing plugged in and no bluetooth devices connected.
Help? D: For the most part I at least want earphones to work on it ...
Has anyone else experience the same problem where their music would not play smoothly anymore Neutrino v2.0 and v2.1(p)? My music played just fine on v1.4.
I'm using powerAMP and I've already tried increasing the audio buffer and the audio thread priority and neither is fixing the problem. This happens both from the speaker and through the headphone.
I saw a post about this in the main dev thread no one else seemed to have followed up on it =(.

I think it has something to do with the 'Media step' mod, which I deleted from V2.0 onwards so it shouldn't be a problem...
Can you describe in more detail what happens?
The phone runs very smooth in all other aspects, but the audio would hiccup...as if I was listening to CDs that were scratched.
I have had the same experience. I have tried different music programs so it's not app-specific. I've also flashed a different kernel to see if that could be the problem.
I have noticed I do not get the same bugs as on different cm7 ROMs where the speaker wouldn't work at all after unplugging from the car dock so the trade-off's been worth it.
I only experiance this when the phone switches from 3g to H. And the slipping becomes extremely bad when I lose service for a bit. If I go to networks and select 2g only, it seems to somewhat fix it. Until I drop service. Used several different radios with the same result
I'm going a hunch that the tweak to the windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec in the build.prop is somehow interfering - I've edited mine from 150 to 50 and I think it sounds smoother on the speaker but that could just be deceiving. I'll update after I've used it in the car dock on my way home.
-Update-
To I'm sure no one's surprise, this did not work. Music still pops. Maybe once or twice every thirty seconds.
I just tried playing music in airplane mode and the music doesn't skip either with Wi-fi on or off.
Is this problem only with PowerAmp? Does it work fine with other music players?

Every music player. Stock, double twist, poweramp etc. I have tried them all.
Confirmed for me with every music player, not just with powerAMP.
TTT Any fix yet?
I've been looking into this over the weekend. It happens on all media players I've tested:
DoubleTwist
WinAmp
PowerAMP
Stock
Sometimes it is so subtle that you wouldn't noticed if you didn't literally have every nuance of a song memorized. I took logcat logs and marked every "skip" I heard, while playing video games with my headphones on for a few hours this weekend, but nothing stuck out of the logs.
This issue is not in 1.4S, but was in 2.0, 2.1, and still in 2.1P. Sorry I don't have any other useful info.
DK
Will yours skip if in airplane mode? Mine doesn't.
mine actually skips in airplane mode aswell, but rarely...
See if it skips in V2.2...
Bad news...the audio still skips. I'm seeing that it happens often especially when there are changes in reception, like when it's switching between h+ and 3g...
I can happily confirm that setting SeCPU profiles to sleep at max and min @ 456mhz fixes the skipping.
Hmmm, I thought that would hinder the battery saving effects of clocking down. I've been clocking the CPU down to around 216-312 Mhz when my phone is idled.
Usually I'm playing audio on the phone when I'm driving and I have the phone plugged in to the car charger, I'll try to increase the min clock for when the phone is charging and report back.
I don't know if it's worth mentioning again, but with the same setting I have now in V1.4, the audio doesn't skip at all. I'll also test if this is happening with weekly #6 as well.
I realize this is a bit off topic, but seeing as how my issue is audio related I figured I'd give it a shot.
In short, my internal speaker is going in and out. There's no specific instances I'm seeing, but I can say I notice it most when it goes out during a phone call. A couple of times I've noticed a bit of a raspy sound, kind of like a loose speaker wire or skipping cd would make (which leads me to think it's the speaker itself).
That being said, if anyone else is having this issue I'd like to help out as best I can.
I'm on 2.2, btw. Currently running 100% EE, with the CM7 provided Google Apps.
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the intrusion.
While messing around I found a fix for hdmi and sound, this is not permanent.
First things first
Micro Hdmi to hdmi required, also 3.5mm aux cable(for use with tv, sound system, ect) or headphones
Instructions,
1: install mx player
Then install ist add on ARMV 7 NEON CODEC ONLY!
THE PURPOSE OF MXPLAYER IS TO FIX SCREEN SHIFT UNTIL NEXT REBOOT OR UNTIL YOU TRY TESTING EVERY OPENGL APP OUT THERE AND MAKE TABLET REBOOT, I DID, if so just start mxplayer again, skip all other steps
2 install Sound about, sittings should be as so,
Wired headset detecion (check)
Wired headset microphone (leave unchecked)
Notification to speaker (check)
Media audio
[Let app decide]
ALL AUDIO WORKS THE 3.5MM JACK, JUST PLAY WITH SOUNDABOUT SETTINGS, IF YOU WISH TO WATCH VIDEOS IN MXPLAYER(ONLY PLAYER IN WHICH AUDIO WILL WORK) TURN VOLUME SLIDER WHITHIN APP TO 0 THEN TURN VOLUME BACK UP AS DESIRED.
Ok after above steps open mx player, play any video and switch decoder to S/W
Let video play about 5sec then tap sceen, player menus should show along with jb menu bar, just hit home and this fixes screen shift, I say again, its temporary, until you break it, real racing 3 is safe to play
Last step is audio (music only) plug. Aux/headphones into jack, music should auto start, if not, unplug, plug until it opens poweramp notification and music starts.
And your all set for my half a$$ hdmi experience
Thanx to the devs for these wounderful apps, all can be found in playstore, this is not a mod nor am I taking any credit, I'm just using tools developers made to make our lives easier the way they intended
This is my first thread in developers section, sorry if I'm unclear and misdirectional, if my post sucks just let me now, so I can improve
Ok, so I wnet to bed last night with mxplayer playing videos all night on loop, I forgot my mediapad was plugged into hdmi and I accendentally yanked it out, well idk what caused this but my hdmi is perma fixed… I rebooted, plugged and unplugged… no glitches at all, I have no eexplanation for this cause I have no idea how this happened lol, ill post a video for you guys.

Yeah, to bad its a hardware problem, the fix uses the software decoder of mxplayer
Using latest Cuoco's. Shortly after the screen turns off, audio stops playing using pocket casts. It doesn't stop when streaming radio with TuneIn. Any idea why and how to stop this happening?
Update: Sorry, never mind. Seems allowing auto start has fixed it.
Nope, fixed for a while, but now it has started turning off again soon after the screen goes off. Very frustrating.
does locking the app work? pull down window in recents screen, you'll see a lock appear.

No, it didn't. But after I last posted it started working again. Possibly was a problem with Pocket Casts or the downloaded podcast files I was listening to. Will post here again if it occurs again.
I use 'viral' for off screen playing on other phones, haven't tried it on this one though. It's kind of useless for its primary function of youtube now because of its age and YouTube blocking, but for playing downloaded video/audio files with the screen off or while using a different app, i find its still great
set it to open in a window in the settings and make sure you get a choice of apps when opening video or audio files
It's odd. Sometimes keeps playing fine, then all of a sudden something causes it to stop working with screen off. Removing and reinserting the USB C adapter seems to fix it, so maybe a problem with audio through usb.
Hi people, today i tried to install an aux cable in my brothers car, which is a Renault with a "Cabasse" central sort of media/radio
Long story short, the cable was attached to the Output instead of Input, which we never checked " cause the guy from the shop said it was the right cable"
Now, my S9+ has had many problems, the volume shoots up and down, and ALL media, be it youtube or my music player, even voicemessages in whatsapp stop playing after a second or so.
Ive tested ...a lot, and ive come to the conclusion that media WILL play back when i have my headphones plugged in (just NO sound whatsoever)
When i pull out the headset, media stops (as usual) but then it just wont play anymore.
All apps which play media, music or movie have the problem which is gone when i plug in headphones.
My question is this; since its a 12v circuit in a car, its possible my audiojack in my phone got a surge of 12v
How can i be sure that this is the problem? is there a way to test my hardware?
Before posting i of course wiped cache, factory reset and done all those things, ive been trying a 100 things before posting here but im all out of ideas.
Any help whatsoever would be very much appreciated!
Additional info; movies on facebook mobile DO play without stopping, but still the volume jumps up and down randomly
This was the reason i did a factory reset (which made it all worse now) and this is still happening too
Also happens in Safe Mode
Oh and what a nice surprise i also seem to have lost all contacts on my simcard. Can make calls but what a treat
