[Q] HTC Sensation Camera hack? Neo possible too? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

http://www.talkandroid.com/100777-i...s-true-1080p-recording-possible/#.T2nW31vSp8E
1080p Video Recording in 20mbps!
Increased Video Recording Quality
Rebuild Camera App with 0 Compression For Better Performance
0 Compression on JPG Images.
Increase size cap of Images.
Improved Quality of Images.
Added Experimental 1250 ISO mode (Thank to krogoth)
maybe this could be done in Neo with some things? Has same MP size but don't think it is the same camera though. Someone knows how to edit these files and compare some settings?

If that can be ported, it would be awesome to us neo /v users.

Sorry to say it but it can't be made:
1) 1080p recording (and playback) needs a dual core processor, so that excludes any Xperia from the 2011 line.
2) The image compression, quality, etc, is coded inside libmmjpeg.so (I think), those are camera libraries made by Sony and they haven't released their source code yet (most likely never will), so without source code it's almost impossible to tweak anything.
If you want to know more about Neo camera compression and why it can't be done read this thread.

Interesting :-o
I would like to do some more research on it ! And I think its possible!
Scratched from my Xperia Neo V !

If 1080p is a no go then atleast a better image quality of picture would be nice damn sony!

Well, the camera driver from ICS has no compression, so instead of porting it or researching something that might be really difficult I'd suggest switching to an ICS ROM or waiting about a month until Sony releases the official ROM.

[Q]Jpeg compression on X10

Hi Devs... do you know if there is a way to change the jpeg compression on Xperia X10 with android 2.1? is a little frustrating to have a 8mpx camera and be limited to 2mb photos...
8MP in a ~2MB jpeg is normal. My bro's pro Canon makes 3MB raw picture, but it's only 2MP
So what? Wait till the bootloader gets cracked. Did you see maxfron's latest post? He makes great progress on it
We don't have to wait.
Just use a different Camera-Application ( I use Camera 360 Pro, it compresses less)
Or decompile and rewrite the SE Camera-Application.
the problems is, the photos taken with the stock camera the quality of jpeg compression is very poor... i don't like vignette or camera 360, just don't feel good with the interface and in all that options there is no way to change the ISO value nor the shutter velocity, neither with the stock camera app but at least is "free".
Guys check this out
This SEMC camera mod by 28spawn works great for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922657
I don't think the raw format has been implemented yet in the android SDK. There are placeholders for raw functionality however. So perhaps eventually.
As for JPG compression I would think the stock sony cam app makes the most of the camera and sets quality to 100. JPG is a lossy format though so will not be perfect.
Try turning image stabilization off. It will result in a sharper image.

[Q] Camera App updates on ICS Xperia Series?

Hey, can any one post a video or Screenshot about the change in Camera app on Neo V?
I have a Neo and I am waiting for ICS. I wanna know if there any improvement on Neo camera or not.
Please kindly someone post some screenshot
Improvement?...Hmmm.
IMO, the ICS camera app is by far inferior to the GB one... Its choppy and less detailed...not to mention it takes forever for the preview image to cache.
So ice camera is better on neo?

Also jpeg compression is reduced, file size is 45-60% bigger than GB shots but more details captured means more quality
Video recording not as good as it was on GB
Screenshots attached
Screenshots from camcorder app
sony have done very good job about white balance! plus I think it takes images way faster than running on GB
So photo quality improved but video quality didn't improve at all?
Is there any tweak for fixing those problem?
Btw, Sony didn't add any Ics feature like timelap, live video effect, photo editor etc?
Has Camera Photo quality improved on the nEo V ICS updated?

Yes..actually
From 500kb size.. It was increased to 1mb-2mb.
Faster when taking picture without flash..
I suspect if we can later USE the camera app, lib and extended cap. from Xperia P(U) to our Neo(Neo V) which have ISO control =]
How can we know that Neo ics camera app is better or worse, if Neo ics final is not released yet?
Aren't we using a modded Neo V ics?
(with "any" Neo camera libraries)

i got pics that size on my neo (stock camera app)
would there be an update in camera quality on the wt19i or the mini pro ?

[Q] Gingerbread camera for ICS?

Hi,
As many of you know, especially those who use the Arc camera a lot, the ICS update did help with the compression issues on the camera, but for some reason also has INSANE ISO settings.
Even in great lighting the camera has an obsession with high ISO images, making many shots look ugly and noisy.
I was just wondering, how difficult would it be, and does anyone know how to, port the Gingerbread camera (perhaps one of the versions with lower compression mods) to ICS?
Many thanks

[Q] Reduce video recording compression?

Hey guys,
I've got an xperia mini on ICS and, although it's not my main phone I still carry it around for it's pure small-factor-size. Just seems to fit anywhere.
The only thing I'm not impressed with is the video recording. It's S**T. Camera capture is pretty decent but the video recording is so blocky and jpegy it looks like its been compressed to play on a calculator. (and yes it is set to high quality in settings)
Now I don't believe this is the best the camera module can do. Is there no kind of app that can capture raw data from the camera and not compress it quite so much?
Am I asking too much?

camera tweaks

Hey everyone!
First and Foremost, DO A NANDROID BACKUP!!!!! I am not responsible for any mistakes that you make or if anything happens to your phone.
for thoes who want to test non compression settings and are rooted :
you can flash in magisk and that allows to set jpeg 100%
It's only work with stock camera . It's has no effect in gcam or ....
Changelog:
V1-
-set JPEG quality to 100%
-Increase 1080 and 4k bit rate
-Set audio to channel 2 (stereo)
-Increase audio bit rate
-Increase photos details
V2-
-Some changes for better vibrance and saturation
V3-
-Increase video quality
-Increase audio quality
-Increase photos details
V4-

- Larger colour information flow from colour sensor in blend matrix
- Better overall handling of ISO exposure settings
- Better low light performance
- Less noise in low ISO
- More aggressive handling of high ISO aliasing
- Extra frame of bracketing for HDR modes
Enjoy
What does it contain?
Yes, some explanation and info would be welcome haha.
EDIT : guys, don't flash until we have more info.
look at the README:
Changelog:
Code:
v1 - Initial Release
v2 - Fixed the earpiece not working throughout the system
v3 - Fixed Earpiece not switching from multimedia to calls
v4 - Fixed bluetooth audio issue
v5 - Fixed right channel not playing through main speaker
v6 - Fixed latency issue between earpiece and main speaker
The rest seems legit, so it doesn't seem to be a scam, however, it would be good to know exactly what it does. Also, since you used as a model the stereo speaker mod from @acervenky , it would be nice to give him some credit.

Gcam - stock camera - camera tweak
More sharp and WB super accurate
Works as a module and easy to uninstall?
Just delete from magisk model

Apart from JPEG quality, which was set to 100% by you, these files have no impact on photos, processing or whitebalance.
They control video.
Also, OnePlus' stock camera and for example GCam are already using 95% JPEG quality.
There is no noticeable difference between 95 and 100%. All this does is needlessly increasing filesize.
Providing downsized samples through the forum is also not saying anything.
The "difference" which can be seen in your samples is not caused by the change you did to the files.
You just took a bad photo from what I can see (bad focus / handshake?!).
Also keep in mind that stock camera sometimes does not apply postprocessing when using it right after GCam.
Clear recents first if you compare them.
If I missed something, please provide thorough information to what you've actually changed.
No disrespect, but in terms of photo-quality this is a placebo-tweak.

Image 1 and 3 are screenshots ?
Photo seems actually nice on camera tweaked but your presentation and samples look weird... what's your mod actually modifying to improve quality??
Looking at the files I agree with the earlier comment, looks like your touching video encoding/decoding... don't see anything related to picture in there...

In V3 I make changed in Media profile to change jpeg quality and increase audio quality and force it to record stereo and increase video quality by changing bit rate
In part 2 I add some tweak
I belief with this mod you can get better results than stock
Camera or gcam
V3 increase gcam quality too
I'm so busy now and couldn't test or send good samples
If you have any ideas to increase quality just say it
