[Q] Fastboot flash root 67 stuck at "waiting for device" - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys,
I've been trying to root my XPS for hours now.
Managed to succesfully unlock bootloader. Flashed the 67 rom, not trying to root it using fastboot,
file: sys_xps_root_67_1g.img
it's been stuck on <waiting for device> for a while now.
I read that i may need to fix the driver installation. How do i do this? (If it is the cause of the problem)
Tried to post this up on the development section but being a new member, i can't. (need 10 posts)
Thanks in advance for reading up to here.

If you have already flash the .67 with flash tool then all you have to do is to go to fastboot and flash the .img file you named up there.
Doomlord has some instruction how to get into fastboot which is simple.
+ Plug one end of wire to your PC
+ turn of the phone (no wire connected)
+ hold the volume up and plug the other end to you phone and when the notification light comes on as blue.
+ then you open cmd on your fastboot folder, and type "fastboot flash system filename.img"
If you don't really know how, read some informative posts in development section.
Good Luck

Yes that's what i've been doing. However it seems to be stuck at < waiting for device >
I've been trying to find out if it is a driver issue but i think i have no idea what i'm doing.

Try this way (i had to spent 1 night to found it myself):
Open device manager then connect usb to pc +press volume button, in device manager window, there is new device shows: s1 fastboot, right click on new device, choose update driver, browse to driver folder then install, your phone now should stay in fastboot mode.

Weird enough you were able to unlock your bootloader.

Turn it off.
When turning it on hold down volume.
It will be ok

Bootloader unlocked, now...confusion.

I'm having trouble getting this POS rooted. Got it unlocked with little problem, but now that it comes to rooting, it's extremely confusing to follow the tutorials. Is there any working one-click methods? I'm no stranger to Android OS, I had my Dinc2 rooted in about 5 minutes after unboxing. But this abomination is really working my nerves. Help please?
There is no "One-Click Root"
But rooting using the given instructions is not difficult at all.
Its as simple as downloading a few files, and typing a few codes.
what have you tried so far? and what firmware are you running?
Since you unlocked your bootloader, here is how you get Root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...m.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130639
download the .img ,put it in your fastboot folder
download the rootxperia.zip to your SD card
Turn phone off, plug into your PC/Laptop and hold search button ( might take some tries) ,you should get BLUE LED
SHIFT+RIGHTCLICK on fastboot folder and open in command window (assuming your usiing vista/win7) and type
fastboot boot recoveryPLAY.img
wait 2 minutes,it takes time.
Apply zip from SDcard and you are rooted

the wait for recovery to load is HORRIBLE!! lol. push the menu button once in a while if you are unsure. i did. it makes the wait (for me) less painful but installing the .zip and rebooting successfully with a rooted phone is AWESOME!!
Thanks for simplifying it for me Cat. I'm sitting here with my blue LED, my blank screen and my command window that now says "waiting for device" so that's what I'm doing. Waiting. Smoke break time.

Sony Ericsson sa0102 is installed, but I'm not seeing anything in my device manager about S1 Fastboot. Hmm...how would one go about installing it? I have the fastboot folder on my desktop. It has two subfolders, Fastboot and USB_drivers .

In this case if it's either still 'waiting for device' or trying to boot recoveryPLAY.img, then you're safe to try again since nothing is being flashed
When connected next time, in fastboot mode, before booting the .img, type this:
fastboot devices 'enter'
It will show a list of devices attached.
It might be that your missing some drivers so fastboot is not working correctly and won't detect your device. Have you pc companion installed? I don't remember if there came any drivers with the fastboot download but check that, there might be some drivers you didn't install.
Regards Dousan...
This is what happens. I just get another prompt. Here's a screenshot of that, along with the drivers folder.

That means no device is connected. Unlike ADB, fastboot does not return the usuall "list of attached devices" line. Have you installed fastboot drivers?

I don't know, I just installed what the guy told me to when he did the remote bootloader unlock. Fastboot IS in my device manager, however, it says there are no drivers installed. I've got the blasted things on my desktop with some DPInst.exe installer, but it says I need the 64-bit version, which I can't find. Microsoft tried to have me download some silly .ISO file but I really think there must be an easier way than to burn some DVD installation disk.

Ok these are the x32/x64 fastboot drivers.
http://www.multiupload.com/0XZV1LXRVA
Download them and unpack them. Connect your device in fastboot mode. Then navigate to device manager on windows, Find the S1 Fastboot thats not installed correctly. go to update driver and navigate to the driver package you just unpacked. Done

Also a special thanks to Alejandrissimo for unlocking the bootloader. Without you, this wouldn't have even been possible. Yay this blasted phone is finally rooted...

Installing ClockworkMod Recovery

Hi,
I'm on the process of installing ClockWorkMod Recovery, stupid of me i forgot to enable USB Debugging option on my phone. Now I'm stuck on Command Prompt saying...
C:\Fastboot>fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img
< waiting for device >
It has been sitting for more than 5 minutes as I am typing now. Should I disconnect the USB cord? Would this action brick my phone?
Sorry for my stupidity!

Hi soulhackereborn!
Sorry for the late reply! Sorry the forum prevented me from posting the URL as I am just a new user here.
"To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
Anyway the tutorial says (copy&paste):
Use the computer for downloading the CWM file from here.
Then, on the same computer download fastboot from here.
Extract fastboot on C:\ drive.
Then, copy the downloaded “ecovery-nozomi.img” file to the Fastboot folder from your computer.
Now you must connect the phone in fastboot mode with the computer.
In order to do so you must plug the USB cord to the PC, then on your phone press and hold the Volume Up button and while doing this connect the USB cable to your Xperia S.
Up next, on the PC click on “Start -> Accessories -> on Command prompt right click -> Run as administrator”.
The command prompt window will now be displayed.
Now, enter the following commands (press enter after each one): “cd c:\Fastboot” and “fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img”.
CWM will now be flashed.
In the end the “finished / OKAY” message should be displayed.
In command prompt enter “fastboot reboot”.
Your handset should now reboot into ClockworkMod recovery.
Remove the USB cord and disconnect the Xperia S from the computer.

everything seems to be good in the tutorial though..
But what is it a kernel, rom or an CWM image file ???
if still it says waiting for device then here's a couple things you should check :-
1) Fastboot ie; S1 Boot driver installed or no
2) Switch off phone and connect it to the PC via usb holding Volume + button (this is fastboot mode)
3) Check does your device remain in fastboot mode or no i mean purple led light glows stays on continuously or no until u execute the command, if not reinstall the driver and try again
4) If everything well till now try flashing with the given commands without the quotes ie; fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img

1. I dont know how to check, it should be installed as i unlock the bootloader yesterday. I actually manually updated it on Device Manager.
2. I understand this.
3. On my case, it's a blue LED lit steadily after doing step 2. I am using Sony Xperia S.
4. Yes, i flashed them without the quotes.

Try rebooting both your PC and phone... This is a small thing but always helps and one more thing after switching off the phone n before connecting it in fastboot mode let der be a gap of alteat a min or two

Usually <waiting for device> can show up when you don't have proper drivers installed. Double check them if you haven't done so.

Dude as far as I know there is no need to check/ tick USB debugging for fastboot... It's just for flashtool..
Try re -installing the drivers again manually or let windows search over internet...

Problem solved!
Just last one question, now that i have CWM recovery on my phone, is it already rooted? sorry i am beginner...

Yes ur rooted!!
Thanks!
I'm currently downloading Cyanogenmod ver 9.1. Hopefully it works! Thank you so much buddy! You have been very helpful! If I get problems on flashing CM9.1, i'll contact you , hehe
One of the reminders on isntalling CM9 is:
Make sure that your Xperia S is already running a rooted firmware, and that it has the ClockworkMod Recovery properly installed.
How do I know I have a rooted firmware? Do I still need to flash FTF file?
By the way, I am getting a boot loop from CWM recovery, I cant go to the homescreen, no option to turn off! It only reboots the CWM.
(Still downloading CM9 as of the moment)

[solved] Difficulties with unlocking the Bootloader

Hi,
the last days, I read a lot about flashing custom ROMs and wanted to do so with my HTC Legend. I'm not really new to flashing ROMs in general.I already flashed several other devices, but I'm stuck with unlocking the bootloader. My problem is, that the CMD is either reacting with "CommandError" or "waiting for device". I'm not able to get the token for unlocking the bootloader. Another problem is, that the SDK Manager won't start for me. So I just grabbed the 3 files out of the filesystem and tried it with them. Using HTCs recommended fastboot.exe doesn't change anything. I hope you can help me with a few details:
1. Do I have to install something else than HTC Sync? (I think, it already installed the driver, too)
2. Which connection mode should i choose, when connecting the legend? (recharging/hdd/htc sync/tethering)
3. Which version of the SDK should I use? Is it possible, that someone just gives me a zip with those 3 files?
I'm looking forward to your answers!
Regards
OdlG
SOLUTION:
The solution was a too old version. My phone had version 3.15.405.3.
First I updated to version 3.15.405.6 (found via google here at xda-dev).
Then I patched the new ROM I downloaded from htc-dev (step 0 at unlocking; must connect phone for that hint!) 3.30.0.0.
Then I could receive the token via CMD at a Windows 7 PC (Win8 PC still said "waiting for device", obviously because the driver wasn't installed correctly so the phone wasn't recognised in fastboot mode).
I followed the last steps rom htc-dev and now unlocked the bootloader

You should use charging mode and you have to activate usb debugging in settings
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the reply!
I already enbled USB Debugging, and now tried it in charging mode. I created a BAT-File with the following command:
cd C:\Android\
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
But it still says "waiting for device" Any suggestions?
Did you follow these instructions? especcially selecting "fastboot"?
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions
if yes and it still didn't work i've no idea at the moment
I tried it once more:
I connected the phone, "fastboot usb" is written there. the cmd still writes "waiting for device". after a few seconds, the pc reports, that the usb device could not be recognised. then there is written "fastboot" instead of "fastboot usb", though the cable is still connected.
a few hours ago i also got a guide at htc dev, that i should install da RUU (what does it mean btw?). i downloaded the german vodafone version and tried to install it. I will try that once more, hopefully the unlock will be successful afterwards!
thanks for your advice!
EDIT:I'm using the following software btw.
Android SDK (adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130219)
Java RE 7 Update 17
HTC Sync (3.3.X or something like that)
The RUU installer is starting the setup without problems. It's rebooting the phone o install version 3.30 (hboot1.02). But when the Phone starts in the bootloader mode and displays "RUU", the PC is unable to detect the USB device and the setup fails caused by missing usb connection
Can I somehow influence the detection of the phone in fastboot/bootloader mode?
Normally it should be enough to install the HTC USB Drivers...
You can grab the newest for example from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191279
The second what you need is an actual adb.exe, fastboot.exe, AdbWinApi.dll & AdbWinUsbApi.dll... grab it for example from here: http://d-h.st/RvD (Thanx to torxx (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3828647))
After u've installed the drivers and extracted the adb file do the folowing
Turn off your phone completly
Push Vol down & Power ...device will start
Navigate with vol+- to fastboot press power
connect with usb-cable (possible that windows will install drivers...wait till its complete)
now "fastboot usb" should be read in the display of your phone
open a shell (cmd)
navigate to your fastboot.exe
type: "fastboot oem get_identifier_token"
it seems, that my htc firmware is far too old (3.15.405.3). i installed all the stuff on my win7 laptop instead of win8 desktop pc and could install the RUU... at least untill the notification, that i needed to update the firmware first, and update hboot1.02 (3.30.0.0) afterwards. the big update is also 150MB, the small one only 5MB. i'll give it a try and report back here, if i am able to manage all the stuff^^
btw autoupdating via options doesn't work ("phone is up to date"). do i have to sign in via google to get a better result?
I managed to unlock the bootloader!

The only think that i can do is to reboot in cwm by artas by holding volume down when the lights flashing but i cannot install cm 10.1 because my bl is still locked. adb reboot oem-unlock is not working correct. When i push it, sometimes reboot with lg logo sometimg shutdown and if i want to power on again i have to hold power button 10 sec and press it again

i am not so newbie mate, i learn a loto of things in this forum....
Follow this thread (link below) to get fastboot working. Then you can get to the next step. I just posted some instructions from that thread below for FYI.
Batch file command is "start_fastboot.bat" not "start-fastboot.bat"
Also,'when the tool says "Wait 5 seconds" don't wait but put the battery in immediately.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119090
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you need:
omap4boot, get it from original thread.
Extract omap4boot archive somewhere like C:\omap4boot (I will use this path in the tutorial).
Power off your phone and remove the battery.
Connect your phone (still without the battery) to the PC.
You will hear the sound of a new driver, then the sound of a driver when it disconnects continiusly.
Start -> Right click on "Computer" -> "Manage".
On the left column, click on "Device manager".
You will see a device that appear and disappear under "Other/Unknown Devices".
You must right click on the unknown device before it disappear, once clicked select "Driver Update".
Click on the second button (manually install driver) and insert the "usb_drv_windows" path (C:\omap4boot\usb_drv_windows) and install the driver.
Disconnect the phone from the PC and power it off.
Open a command prompt (Win+R, type cmd and press Enter).
Type the following command in the command prompt:
Code:
cd C:\omap4boot
start-fastboot.bat
Now input 3 (Prada 3.0 P940) and press enter.
Plug the phone without battery to the PC, when the tool says "Wait 5 seconds" put the battery in your phone.
(The first time that you do this, you have to install the drivers again. Repeat step 9)
At the other prompts answer always "N", this could be important.
Now you can use fastboot on L9 Next times you can start from step 12.

Now you can use fastboot on L9 Next times you can start from step 12.

thank you for your responce. Actually the bootloader is still locked. Do you thinkis there any tip or cheat that it is not listed in the steps?
Butentering in fastbootmode will not unlock the bootloader. If you followed the steps in general thread and still cant unlock it, we are with the same problem my friend and.. unfortunatelly, still no solution for me

if you can fastboot then follow this link below and it should work afaik
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221102
You can ignore the part about installing fastboot drivers since you should have it installed already if you are able to fastboot
And I guess you already have LG driver installed.

Thank you guys,
First of all i NEVER saw this black fastboot screenin my phone that says "press volume up form unlock bl"
Second, i cannot find EUROPE open 20b...every link is not working
Don't you already have V20B installed per your first post. Otherwise you will have to flash it with the offline method....
if you are able to fastboot you should be able to get to that screen i believe.

If your model p760 you should see a fastboot screen (everything black with dome letters on top). But you can confirm if you are in fastboot mode when you run the start fastboot.bat, open a cmd in the folder that contains fastboot, adb, etc and type fastboot devices
You should see a coupçe of numbers and letters, like in adb devices
If dont appear nothing, your phone doesnt entered in fastboot. Then try flashing ics xloader and uboot and try fastboot again. If your device is seen, you should be able to unlock the bootloader following the tutorial in general thread, always remembering waiting 30 min or more to try
Here you will find v20b europe open:
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=18
The download will not work if you have shttps enabled and hosts file still have the lg related lines. You must remove the 2 lines, save it, close shttps and try download again, now will work

You can follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44325657&postcount=4
Probably will help you a lot in this fastboot thing, i put a link to Lelus's fastboot thread. Downloading the file from there you'll be able to install your phone's xloader and uboot files

Ah! so with this only i can unlick my BL? no 30 minutes waiting?
No, im sorry, didnt explained to much. Follow that to flash xloader and uboot and then install V20B europe open with the tutorial i said to you. After that, hard reset the phone (turn it off, turn it on and let pressed vol down and home button). After hard reset the phone will restart. Let phone connected to wifi and make sure your sim card is inserted and you have the network signal, enable usb debugging and connect your phone to pc via usb cable in lg software mode. Then wait 30 minutes (best is to wait at least 1 hour). Open a cmd where adb is (if you downloaded fastboot.zip from the link i gave you, its inside the fastboot/bin folder you extracted) and type the following command:
adb reboot oem-unlock
Your phone should restart and show you a black screen asking if you do want to unlock the bootloader. Press vol up to unlock the bootloader. And thats it, hope it work for you

Soory i just saw this message mate. Ok i will do exactly that (according my english your messages sounds more familiar to me)
i will choose order "6" in fastboot that says "x & U for p760 jb (not "2" for ics)
Ok i did this guide
BL is still locked but when i run command adb reboot oem-unlock i saw somethignthat i never saw before
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
but the phone shuted down...no restart and to power on again i kept 10 sec power buton and after it powered on.
Question, when i run oem-unlock the fastboot goes immmediatelly or after some time?

[Q] can someone provide me a guide how to unlock bootloader. i got some problem here

i tried to do it my self. follow an instruction from a official website and other
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/
https://www.getdroidtips.com/how-to...-plus-i3213-i4213-i4293-i3223/#Pre-Requisites
which i got stuck at, when i boot into bootloader mode . the phone seem to restart and appear only black screen with blue indicator.
then i tried to check if it still connect to adb or not, with {adb devices} its not listed there
PS.
-the drivers work fine
-my Xperia 10 plus model is I4293
The LED is all you get. The screen stays black for fastboot and flash modes. Not sure why adb devices isn't working.

one thing weird
i using a Xperia Tool (Xperia Companion) and it display the text that my phone need to unlock the screen or allow to use data tranfer
which i already check a USB debugging to be on, and every time i connect it to my PC, it still ask me a permission to be allow or not
maybe this is a problem here ?
It cant be listed in ADB if the android isnt running.
Blue LED means fastboot mode. So to check if the device is in that mode you do "fastboot devices".
Once the LED is blue you can unlock the bootloader with the command "fastboot oem unlock 0x<insert your unlock code>".

When I pressed to volume up button and plug the cable in, led turned red>blue>off. I tried releasing the button at a different colour, but my phone still did not go into fastboot mode. Did I do something wrong?

I guess you are using windows. This is issue on windows when you don't install adb drivers. There should be tutorial on Sony site how to install them.

Yes, I am using Windows 10, but let me clarify my understanding first.
From what you said, I need to manually install the ADB driver by Device Manager > Portable Devices > Xperia 10 Plus > Browse my com... And that driver, I should get it from Sony site, but I only see Xperia 1, 5 and 8, not 10 nor 10 Plus.
However, I could see my phone by using command adb devices through minimal ADB and Fastboot. Does this imply that the driver is installed already?

Adb and fastboot are not the same thing so you have to get fastboot driver.
I have no clue where this driver is as I use Linux only which includes the driver by default.

I see. There is a fastboot driver on Sony site, but it was uploaded since 2014. I successfully installed it, but still nothing seems to work. I will try on Ubuntu later. Thanks for your help.

I was using windows 10. From what I can remember, my problem is that I didn't install driver correctly (I'm not sure which one). I am not really sure if this fastboot driver the one I used. I saw my device in Device Manager, but I got waiting on device... just like you. So what I have done was locate my device in Device Manager and install the sony driver over that device. If sony's driver was not the correct one, then it was another driver that I can't remember, but the instruction still the same. Sorry for an unclear message, but I can barely remember anything now.

Go in Windows Device Manager and check the device . If needed install drivers manually
