After installing stock ics (i downloaded and installed the German stock ics) I have the same issue.
I have the note set to left handed, in s-pen settings, but after reboot it is back in right handed mode.
It still says left handed in the settings, but I have to select left handed again to actually activate left handed mode.
Does anybody know of a fix or workaround? is it possible to run a script or maybe there is an app that will set a specific settings at startup?
I'm new to Android and I've only had the note a few weeks, so I would appreciate any help thanks!

A nice little free non-root app that sits on the right hand side of the screen when in landscape so you can go the Home Screen, Go Back or look at the Notification dropdown quickly :good::laugh:

Great - thanks a lot!
The buttons located at the middle of the status bar were the topic that bothered me most on my new Z2 tab, as you always have to move your hand and let go the tablet's frame.
:good:
One of the main reasons I have already rooted my device (although the bootloader had to be unlocked).
So I can use "Expanded Desktop" from Xposed module "Gravity Box" (no navigation bar anymore, which additionally means more screen estate) and GMD Gesture control instead.
For instance, for "Back" I have set 2 gestures: Either diagonally (!) to the right and down with 3 fingers, or the same to the left and down.
Since "Back" is a very frequent command, this is the most comfortable direction for a swipe because the arm which is holding the tablet is anyway in that direction. I just have to pull the arm "back" instead of bringing it into a certain position first. And the two gestures ensure that I can make the Back gesture with either hand equally comfortably.
I had the device unrooted for two weeks, and it felt simply awkward to be forced again to hit little spots on the screen for basic commands. (My other devices are always also rooted.)
I've tried GMD gestures but wasn't able to get it work. Any idea why or did you do anything special to make it work? On my N7 it's been working like a charm for a long time. Thanks.
On the Z2 Tablet, you have to set (in "Advanced“) "Override touch events parser detection" to "HC_DEFAULT".
Sorry to be an idiot but this sounds very good and natural. However I can't picture the mvmt. Do u grab with the free hand and then swipe or what?

Revive!!!
I tried this but it's a little cumbersome and gets in the way.
And then I remembered PIE! Durr
sorry but piecontrol is far superior. Also no root, and can do a lot more.
I much prefer swiping in method, got used to it with old paranoidandroid builds waaaaay back in the ICS era

Try Button Saviour. Way better than pie.
Is there a guide to basic gestures on TS2?
I have a lot of troble going BACK - Is it right to left or some type of diagonal gesture? I figured out the bottom left to top right brings up the menu mostly. Anything else?
Also, how the heck do you change the VOLUME of the external speaker?

Swipe left from the bezel on the right straight across the display.

Thanks. That's what I have been doing but it works like 20% of the time. It seems like going from the right upper corner down to the lower left corner works better, not sure why.
So hw do I get quickly get back to the "Home" screen in the stock Launcher from other pages in the launcher?
Press the Home button, down under the camera ?
If you long press that button it brings up the task list.

I've figured out a swipe to the right from the left bezel activates the menu button if available.

Daniel made a manual which I wish I'd read before trying to figure everything out. You may have to log in to google to load the pdf

Hey now, that's handy to have!
I'd also recommend getting a third party gesture application. I use the paid version of gmd gesture control and have diagonal swipes configured for volume and a few other shortcuts. There is also a recommended free module for xposed framework called all in one gestures.
I've never posted here before so I have no idea if this is right or in the right place, but here it is.
I'm wondering if there is any way for me to get the navigation drawer that is used on so many apps to come from the right side instead of the left, I would like to have it on the right so I can use the left side of my screen without restricting the nav drawer. I'm left handed so it's easier to use the left side for things than the right.
I posted this on a different forum but should have checked over here first. Hopefully one of you guys with a Gear S can verify this for me.
When swiping down from the clock screen to get to the quick menu it seems I have to be in the top center when I swipe down. If I try to swipe down from the top near the edges it does not work. This also applies when swiping down from a widget to get back to the home screen. If I am in app or scrolling through the apps the top edges seem to work as normal.
Just trying to figure out if it is supposed to be this way or my Gear S is defective?
Thanks
Just tried the swipe down on my Gear S. Won't respond if I'm swiping near the corners. Only responds when I swipe near the middle.
On my Galaxy Note 4, I can swipe straight down from the middle to pull up the notification panel. I can also swipe diagonally down from the corners to activate multi-window pop-up mode.
So, maybe the Gear S will eventually incorporate some type of diagonal swipe down from the corners to activate or open an app or setting.
Thanks for the checking. I figured it was designed like that but I had nothing to compare it to.
Thanks again
Lucky though I am to suffer such trivial problems on my journey through life, I'd be very grateful if anyone has a solution to this particular Rich World problem.
On my Tab S3 I am in landscape and Split Screen Multi window mode. I want to change the app in the Left Hand pane. If I press the Recents button I am only ever given the option to change the apps in the Right Hand pane. It does not matter which pane, left or right, is in focus I can only change the app in the right hand pane.
The only way I can figure to change the app in the left hand pane is to 1. Swop the panes about so Left pane becomes Right pane. 2. Hit the Recents button and select the new app. 3. Swop the panes back. That's rubbish! Does anyone know if there is an easier way to change the Left hand app?
Why do I want this? I am right handed. I like to use the stylus with Samsung Notes in the right hand pane. I keep whatever app I am referring to or watching in the left hand pane and I like to change to different apps there fairly regularly. All this daft swopping is dementing me. I could just do my writing in the left hand pane but that is also rubbish as it feels awkward.
Really like the Tab but wondering if I should have got an iPad Pro for my notetaking.
Ok this is pretty trivial i know, hence plenty views but no replies! I'll leave it up in case someone else is puzzling about what multi window does and doesn't do.

It's not trivial. But it is how the multi-window is implemented by Google in Android Nougat. So there isn't a solution unless Google change their mind on the implementation.
