I recently picked up a 16gb nook tablet, loaded with 1.4.0 from B&N.
First thing I did was root it with the SDCard method from Albert. I played with it a little and installed some extra launchers to test out without assigning any of them as the default.
Before installing the new launchers, I thought I remember that the Home button in the quicknav bar would always go the B&N home even when the double tap 'n' button was programmed to the alternate launcher.
Now however, it is no longer doing that. I can program it to the B&N Home page, but then double tapping the 'n' button also goes to the B&N home page. I can program the double tapping 'n' button to my alternate launcher, but then the quicknav soft home button also goes to the alternate launcher.
Things I have tried:
Clearing defaults/cache from B&N 'Home' apk
Installing new launcher to reset the defaults
Uninstalling/Reinstalling Homecatcher
Uninstalling Home manager
8 Failed Boot + Restore Factory Image + Reroot
I should note that I only *noticed* this problem after I restored from backup after repartitioning my drive according to the process posted here. I don't believe that caused it, but that was when I noticed it.
So, am I remembering incorrectly? Are the quicknav home soft button and double tap always tied together? Or did something get mucked up somehow?
If mucked up, any suggestions on where I should look to try to fix it? I noticed that there is a quicknav reprogramming tool for the lower end Nook - has anybody worked on one for the Tablet yet?
Thanks for any help!!
And thanks so much to the developers for making the tools to turn the Nook into such a much more useful tablet!

First off I'm new to the Gtab. I'm currently running Vegan 5.1. Everytime I hit my hard home button it takes me to a switchboard with four buttons. In order to get go my actual home screen I have to select the home icon. This is becoming extremely annoying hitting two buttons every time to get home. Is this normal or am I missing a setting?
What launcher are you using? There is usually a tab in the settings menu for what tapping the home key does.
I'm currently using the VLT launcher just released, but it does the same thing for stock launcher and launcher pro. I scoured the settings and can't find the home button setting. Saw it in Launcher pro but it didn't change anything. Not sure what else to try at this point.
The screen it sends me to appears to be the screen you see when you would place your phone on the dock. It has the alarm clock button, music, home, and gallery button on the bottom with only the time showing.
Button savior works correctly. Unfortunately I'm not a button savior fan. This its the only bug on my tab and its driving me nuts.
Just wanted to update. I read a lot of other Vegan users having this same issue. I ended up freezing the Clock app using Titanium and that corrected the issue. Not sure what other adverse effects that will cause but it worked for me.
Anybody have any other ideas how to fix this? I'm using TNT Lite 4.4 with Launcher Pro. I've set the home button to "Do nothing" in Launcher Pro preferences, and also checked the option that says "Home key to default screen" but neither one of those seems to have had an effect. Thanks!
Help!!!!!. How do I get out of full screen zeam?
I found the flag and set and now I now longer have the battery and navigation screen on the bottom so I can no longer go back to preferences and turn full screen off. I have button savior turned on but zeam does not recognize the menu button so I am stuck. I am running on a NC version 1.1.0 with Autonooter 3.0. Please Help. I find it pretty stupid that you can't access a menu to turn off full screen.
I usually assign an up swipe to show/hide the notification bar. Can you long press on the desktop and get a preferences menu?
Nope, I assume by upswipe, you mean swiping from the bottom up but that didn't work. Tried swiping right to left and tried the long press. Nothing happens. I guess I may have to restore the data file from titanium but I was hoping to find another way to this.
Long pressing on one of your home screens should bring up a menu that has 3 options: "Add Item", "Set Wallpaper", and "Preferences". Selecting "Preferences" should bring you to the Zeam Preference menu.

Thank you. I tried the long press on the main home screen and nothing happened. I had to go to the third page and then do the long press. I guess because I have some apps and widgets running on the main screen. Anyway I got it back. Thank you for your help.
I liked Zeam Launcher as it had a quick and easy way to get to apps. Now that I switched my applauncher from 1.2 back to 1.1 I can now get them through the B&N apps button and I want to make Softkeys my home launcher. Soft keys has better access to the books I am reading, as the now reading button works.
I go into Home launcer, and it shows Zeam as my default launcher. I choose Softkeys, it show up above as default, but for some reason it doesen't become the default launcher. Am I missing something? Any suggestions?
open soft keys, go to settings, go to virtual home button, tap normal press button, select "home" instead of zeam. exit and push the nook N button and will load the BN home.

It worked one time, then went back to Zeam. When I opened up settings again, Home is still checked.
Try Home Switcher

Do you have soft keys set as your default launcher?
Update: Never mind, apparently all it needed was a little time to think. Mods, you can delete this. Sorry folks.
Long time (but sparse) reader, first time poster... So forgive me if this problem has been brought up before, I wasn't able to find it anywhere by searching.
I have a Viewsonic gtablet running CyanogenMod 7.0.3-Harmony with LauncherPro Plus v0.8.6.
I just rebooted my device and now my home button (the one on the side, not the one on the screen) is acting funny. It will show me my recent apps if I hold it down, but it won't take me back to my home screens if I'm in an app (or somewhere that's not a home screen). It also won't show the home screen previews if I'm on the home screen and I press it.
The home button on the screen (in the status bar) works perfectly fine. All of the other buttons (on the side, and in the status bar) work perfectly fine as well.
I have downloaded apps recently, but nothing too unusual. Certainly nothing that would mess with the home button settings.
Thanks so much for your help!
Edit: I have rebooted the device.
So I downloaded launcher hijack and nova launcher for a new Amazon fire hd 8 tablet because I thought the home menu was kinda confusing and I wanted a traditional Android home screen instead. All was fine in the beginning but then whenever I would hit the home button to get out of an app it show the home menu for a second but then would send me to the tabs menu instead, even though I didn't tell it to do that. Then once it's in the tabs menu no matter what buttons I push it just keeps sending me back to the tabs menu. One workaround that only works like 25% of the time is that once it sends me to the tabs menu if I click the tabs button to go to the last opened app and then hit the home button it will let me go to the home screen, but like I said, that rarely works. So I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this bug and if anybody could help me fix it as I'm not sure what I did wrong. Thank you for your time.
