someone offered to trade me a white unlocked galaxy nexus i9250 + $150 for my black At&t Note......tempted....what to do , what to do.....
like the note...but want ics....and sometimes would like a smaller phone....but not sure....
I asked this in the galaxy nexus forum also...just trying to weigh my options..
Id say no but depends your needs. Ics wont change your life. Nice but not enough reason to lose sd expansion and a gorgeous screen. Ics is coming to note soon enough. Faster if you use a custom rom.

You'd give up LTE as well, right?
NO WAY in hell I'd take that trade. Just my opinion!

The galaxy nexus screen is impressive aswell...

My opinion the note blows the galaxy nexus away only thing the nexus has is ics which well see on the note soon so I would say hell no to that trade
Galaxy Note
Ics would be cool and all but this phone does everything I need without ICS. If I wanted ics that bad, I wouldn't have gotten this device, I would have gotten the nexus.

Coming from a Galaxy Nexus I say pass. I loved the Gnexus but the Note walks circles around it. I do however miss the on screen buttons and vanilla ICS but having stock ICS will come when we get the official release.

No external slot for memory in gnexus, so I will say 'No'

There are leaked ics builds already out for the note that work just fine. Not sure why you'd still be waiting for something official from Samsung when it'll look exactly like gingerbread visually (touchwiz).

Hell no....
no explanation needed ...... just hell no
The Galaxy Nexus is an awesome phone, I've owned every Nexus phone except that one and even though I love the note, I still miss vanilla.
Having said that, just flash the ICS leak, it makes it a lot better.

The three biggest advantages of nexus are
1. Software availability - they have full support of Google.
2. For me Google wallet is a big plus - that alone makes me consider a trade sometimes.
3. True penta band - if you are on T-mobile then this is a great thing too.
Hopefully over time all of the above will be available on Note (perhaps some alternative carrier backed payment system rather than the wallet and the modem from t-mobile Note) - but do you want to wait?
I love the note and don't want any of my friends to see this post but want to be objective here.
On the flip side, I've seen many Nexus users complain about lack of sd card, and the curved screen means you cannot get that cool glass on glass screen protector. Also no LTE for AT&T if you care about it. Tough call, sure
With alpha 2 ics ROM PLUS the tablet mod dagr8 just put out I would never consider it. I love the combination more then words could say

Because once Samsung officially releases ICS, they will be forced to release source code which means we will start seeing REAL ICS development for the Note like Cyanogen or other AOSP projects.
Im personally still completely stock and unrooted because every rom out there for the Note is basically just a themed rom with a few tweaks. I want freedom.
Now, once a complete AOSP version of Android is available, the Note will look just like the Nexus except it will get better support than what Google offers (my brother living next door to me has a Verizon Nexus and is still on 4.02), receiving updates probably at least once a week if not even possibly nightly.
Oh, and my understanding is that Google wallet is still not working on the Verizon Nexus. As far as Google wallet working on the Note, Im not sure if this is a carrier related thing or software related. I know the Note can do NFC, maybe Google prevents it based on what kind of device you have (similar to the Chrome beta).
Just get both.

im thinking about get the galaxy nexus also...$399....tempting..
Only thing that's hard for me to say do it is the camera, this 8MP is gorgeous. I don't know why Samsung put a 5 MP camera in the nexus when they have already had a great 8 out. This by no means it's a replacement to a dslr, but when I do use it, I'd like it to look good, already better than my old Evo's 8+5. I saw it for sale direct from Google for 400 and pumped the brakes when I saw that. They carefully word around it like 1080 and HD, but I don't want high definition blocks. Even this camera to an extent doesn't look GREAT on a 55".

Hey guys,
Don't get me wrong, I love my atrix, and if ics/jb comes soon ill probably stay with it for a long time. But has anyone considered getting the Samsung galaxy note 2? It looks amazing I love big devices like that and if it gets paranoid android it would be perfect. What do u guys think?
I'm not a fan of phablets.
Even if I was, I don't have large shovel hands...

Let's keep talk here about the actual device. Interested in the Note 2? Head over to the Note 2 forums! :silly:
I am ready for an upgrade on Verizon and can't quite make up my mind on what I want. I'm coming from a Motorola Droid 4 and debating between Galaxy S3, Galaxy Nexus, wating for Galaxy Note 2, or waiting for the next Nexus.
I know the Nexus is old news but I love my Nexus 7 and still want something that will have plenty of developer support. On the other hand the screen is a little on the small side and the lack of SD card might be a dealbreaker.
I could always wait for the next Nexus but who knows when that could be and if the LG rumors are true I may not be interested (not a fan).
The Galaxy note sounds great because it's big but is it too big? The extra screen room would always be welcome but I'm not sure if maybe this is too much.
Finally the S3 seems like a great phone and although I'm not a big fan of touchwiz I'm sure using a launcher or a custom rom will be enough to make up for this. I like that the screen isn't a measly 4 inches but at the same time it does feel weird in my hand, it's thin, maybe too thin.
Feel free to suggest any other phones I may be missing out on but they have to have NFC, at LEAST 4.0 in. screen (preferably upwards of 4.5), and if it won't get/doesn't have jellybean plenty of dev support so I can port it onto the device myself.
So... what phone should I get?
Galaxy S3 is good. but i am a htc fan, so it is all about how you use your phone.
Gs3 will have JB soon get that.

I just don't think I can do Sense. It's the only skin I dislike more than Touch Wiz. But if the phone was good enough I would consider living with it I suppose.

I'm looking into getting a tablet. The new nexus 7 intrigues me but is the size all that different to the note 2? What tablets do you guys have? Do you find yourself using it over your giant phone?

My wife has the galaxy tab 2 7.0 and I play with that one. I don't like the size compared to my note ii. But I do plan on getting the new nexus 10 when it comes out.
About her galaxy tab. It feels too small. Like its not a tablet but a phone. As ridiculous as it sounds. She likes it because she can easily store it in her purse whenever we go anywhere. That's always a plus, but she does also only have a 4.3" phone so its a big difference in screen size to her.

I'll second the notion posted above, that the 7" tablet is kind of pointless when you have the Note 2. For what it's worth, since moving to the Note 2 I no longer use either my Nexus 7 nor my full-size iPad. I seldom need anything but my Note 2 and my laptop, which spends most of its days docked in my home office.

Now that I have the Note2 I rarely use my touchpad running android. If/when it dies I will probably replace it with a Nexus 10. The weight difference between the 2 tablets will probably cause me to use a tablet more often.

I have a first gen nexus 7, and recently I bought a note 8. The note 8 is what I reach for the most. The nexus was too small and rarely used liked the other posters point out. But the Note 8 is the perfect balance of size for me. Note 8 development is not the best, but I like TW so im running stock rooted on it. The fact that it has a sd slot helps a lot too. The price is higher though. Something else to note (ha), I do use the spen a lot. If the spen is not a selling point for you on a tablet, it may not be worth the extra cost. Good luck tablet shopping!

I have had the Note 10.1 for about a month now and find that it goes well with my Note 2. I was on the fence about just rooting and flashing my Kindle Fire HD and using it, but I also thought what's the point of using a 7 inch along side the phone. I have been happy with it so far and running TW on both helps.
