[Q] Please help... I ruined my mum's Samsung... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm an iPhone user who borrowed her mum's Samsung Galaxy Ace and within 4 hours managed to ruin it
Please help me.
The screen is basically now only half there (the other half is just black) because everything is squeezed together. This is because I foolishly replaced the entire build.prop with a Nexus 4G's build.prop, trying to get a certain game to work. Noobity noob noob huh?
I've installed SDK and ADB but to be honest I don't really know what I'm doing. Every time I enter the 'adb shell' command it just says that the device is offline. I know how to 'flash' a .zip file from recovery mode, if that helps.
I factory wiped the phone, thinking this would also revert the build.prop back to its original state, but to no avail.
I didn't back up the build.prop, no... does that mean I'm doomed?
Thank you for any information you can share... really appreciate it.

Did you try building a USB jig and restoring from it?

I think you may have changed lcd_density, if you can find the build.prop from other people with Galaxy Ace, you can replace it. The other way you can do is reload stock ROM, Google search on "Galaxy Ace Stock ROM" got: http://www.samsdroid.com/2011/11/samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830-stock-rom.html
Good luck!

[Q] how can I reboot my Vibrant, after trying almost everything?

So I want to to root my Vibrant but I can't...Every way I tried it needed to reboot my vibrant to recovery didn't work...
I tried GS Tweaker, ONeSuperClick, rom manager, terminal emulator.....
I got my update.zip file into my SD card but Im stuck with the rebooting thing
I tried all the ways of rebooting: the manual rebooting, Android SDK application... everything thing, I spent the whole day finding ways, watching videos and reading from vibrant wiki..
So what I reached to yesterday is:
while I was talking to one of the pro of android in one of the chat room somewhere, he said maybe because my phone needs "hardware updating" that the buttons can't reboot something like that (since I'm not in the states and I cant get OTA updates from T-mobile)... so I need to download ODIN and find Samsung drivers...
can anyone help me in this please?
try http://www.akaskriller.com/free/flashing.php
there are some files that you may need to ODIN. good luck, hope it works out.

ok....thats weird
first try pulling out your battery.....then put it back in...then hold both volume buttons while you turn it back on w/ the power button....when the black samsung screen pops up let them go...the phone should go into the stock 2e recovery...
if you still want the drivers then here you go ....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Odin and a nice guide on how to use it can be found here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
or

[Solved] Can't get adb to work when in recovery???

Finally found the answer in the Nexus forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875
--------------------------
Please tell me I'm not missing the obvious. Here's the deal.
When the phone is booted and running normally, adb works fine. No problems looking around/pulling/pushing/changing permissions/etc...
But when I boot into recovery, it says it has found a new device (Android Samsung SPH-L710 or something like that) and wants to install drivers for it. I have searched thoughly using just about every combination of "adb" "Samsung" "recovery" "Galaxy S3" etc, etc, etc I could think of. They all point to the drivers I already have !!!
I like to make custom icons for things like the title bar, you know, just add a little color to the signal strength, data in/out arrows, things like that. My usual routine with my old EVO was to hook up to the computer, use the batch files I have written to pull framework/SystemUI or whatever, drop in the png I changed, then reboot the phone to recovery and push them back. I don't like using root explorer to put them back while the phone is running normally, but that's what I've had to do so far.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Am I missing the obviuos (wouldn't be the first time ) ?
Nobody? Is adb working for you in recovery?

Verizon Ellipsis 7 Unbricking?

I am assuming no one has bricked this device yet but I believe I just did I am rooted and stuck at a welcome screen if anybody has a solution please help! if not I'm going to the store Saturday and telling them a silly lie
Yeah I just did too :/ I installed chainfire 3D and now it stays at the Verizon loading screen. It doesn't shut off, only reboots to this screen. Safe mode doesn't work. I'm hoping there is a way to fastboot, factory restore, etc. via USB. But I think I'm SOL
I just went up to the Verizon store and play dumb I was able to get mine replaced

I figured as much. I talked to someone over the phone and they said to bring it in for a replacement. So I'm going in tomorrow for a new one. Lesson learned haha

Really hoping someone has came out with a unbrick/really BootLoop of Doom...
So I know a little about android and learn quick and there is very little information on the verizon ellipsis 7. Just so happens I bought one from a side shop and figured out Framaroot will easily root this device. Well you can guess what happen from there. All was going well until i rebooted with rom toolbox pro to change the font format for the second time. Now ever since it hasn't made it past the verizon screen and i cant take it back. Is there any possible way at all of somehow getting a custom recovery on this thing? Or even better a unbrick/bootloop? Oh and I CAN get it to go into stock recovery. Tried the Clear eMMC and Safe Mode but no luck.
Im in the same situation, I'm not able to boot into safe mode and clearing the emmc (formatting /data) doesn't seem to help either. I believe /data is just the user saved data, system data remains the same and is still corrupted. I had rooted, installed xposed framework and a few modules, rebooted fine the first time, but when I went to go change a setting within Ultimate Dynamic Navbar to make the stock navbar hide or not to hide, the script it used killed the tablet and now my wife's valentines day present is stuck in a bootloop. I'm going to try and take it back to verizon tomorrow after work, hopefully I can get yet another free tablet from big red... rvajuggalo said he was able to get it replaced right away even though it was rooted, anyone think I'll be fine taking it back as well? Or should I just wait til someone comes out with a fix for this issue?

If anyone has a clean copy of the system or firmware directories can you please share with me? --- Also if anyone knows how to get into the stock recovery without android debugging please explain? On a final note if anyone has a custom recovery that they could share that would be amazing as well. I'm in a bootloop and have been stuck in it for a couple weeks. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

If you're willing to open the back plate. (Back plate just pulls off. I'd suggest opening the sim/sd card slot and using that to pull it off. You need to disconnect the battery wait a few seconds, reconnect and then boot into recovery.
1. Black plate removal
2. Disconnect battery
3. Wait a few seconds
4. Reconnect battery
5. Press and hold Power and Down volume button until you see "Powered by Android"
6. Release the power button continue to hold down volume
7. Once in Factory recovery mode choose your best option
(I just factory reset it)

A new development, possibly.

After making edits in system files I broke my QMV7B. Hangs on powered by android logo. In a panic, I wiped emmc from factory more (Chinese).. This reset ADB keys, and complicated matters further. After some digging I may have caught a break... I have figured out a way to stop and suspend the tablet in it's pre boot, or preloader, state. While suspended, it maintains COM3 connection with SPFT, and does not power cycle on and off. It also successfully installs it's onboard Preloader driver without error. Problem is that I need help attempting flash (for best chances)...
needing stock 4.4.4 fit the qmv7, or possibly advice on stock recover if possible.. I have successfully flased devices with Odin before, and have rooted almost every I have had.. I just want the best chance for success, and not to full brick the tab.. this could also be a solution for newer devices as well, but would like to for a good developer to speak with me before I post my findings. I will also post if I get the stock room compatible for flashing with SP Flash tool.. thanks guys..
Help
Please post specifics on how you achieved suspending in Preloader mode. That would help me alot.
I really need the un-rooted qmv7a stock rom, if any one could provide, that would be fan-freaking-tabulous lol...
no, for real i need the stock rom. I'd really appreciate it.
BTW
if you wanna get clean root on this device, i suggest this- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2748169
(has nothing to do with my need for a clean start, that was my own carelessness...)

Hey man it's been 5years & I just wanna say thank you for posting this as I just managed to get into factory mode thanks to your comment xD. factory mode didn't help me a bit but maybe when I get to a PC I can use mtk tools to get a shell or something from there. Thanks again and if anybody has anything more than what's on here about this tablet please contact me as I feel like the last human on Earth with one ????
Yeh
I have one??
And Reading all topics about rooting this tablet...i'm afraid to do that?

[Q] Can someone PLEASE help?!

I think I've bricked my device.
I have a Samsung Tab 3...GT P5210. Long story short, in an abusive relationship I had files on my Tab which I needed for the court process. My ex deleted these files. I turned to my old friend Google and tried to Root my device. Stupid move but I was in a panic to recover these files. Now my Tablet only shows Samsung GALAXY Tab3 upon startup. Just the white words on a black screen. I'm assuming it's bricked.
I will be the first to admit, I shouldn't have tried. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS STUFF. I should have left it to the experts. But again, I was in a panic. Please, please, PLEASE tell me my files aren't gone and that I can undo what I've done?? I used a rooting app called Kingo.
The Tablet shows the title, as mentioned and when I connect to my computer, nothing happens. The battery doesn't show...just still the words are displayed on the screen.
As if I wasn't panicking before...
Can someone please help??? I know I sound like a moron, but I'm desperate. If I was just an idiot trying to screw with my device for no reason...but I really do need these files. I can't let him get away with what he's done to my son and I.
Thank you to anyone that can help

Chainfire 3d bricked my padfone 2 and maybe I f*cked up by factory reset. Please help

So this is my problem.
My friend told me that chainfire 3d probably would prevent lag on my phone when watching HD videos and I installed it without further research. As for many other people that I've read about afterwords my phone got stuck at Asus loop and then went strait to recovery startup screen and I can't seem to get anywere from there. I've tried sooo many different guides and tutorials by now so I finally decided to seek out help here by posting this. In one of my weakest points I desperately tired to do a factory reset but that turned out to wipe my whole phone so all that exists now is an empty folder named "asus_log" in my "/data/media" dir.
This is what I tried so far as I can remember from the top of my head.
Tried getting it going via fastboot but that function doesn't even work at all. (No fastboot available )
Used all adb commands I can find in other guides. I see my device through "adb devices" but when I use the shell command it just give me an error. The same with the "su" command.
Tried to use the "push" command with a stock rom but it just get stuck and doesn't proceed.
Tried using ODIN but that's just for Samsung.
Used android sdk and installed all kind of **** some tutorial proposed.
As I live in Sweden and we don't got any asus stores it would be a pretty expensive thing for me to go to a computer store that is an asus retailer cause they have to ship it to some other country for repair probably.
So I would be sooo happy and grateful if anyone here knows the solution for my problem and would be able to help me, please!!
