[Q] Carrier unlock LG Doubleplay - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I am a noob per say. I am new here to XDA and semi new to the android world. I have plenty of experience with iPhone's and have been getting into the android world for the past few months. I have been on XDA a few times as a guest and found many answers to my questions in the past but in this case I can not seem to find an answer so I hope someone can help or at least point me in the right direction. So to my question. I have an LG doubleplay which i have successfully rooted but was wondering if there was any type of software i can use to carrier unlock it. I have rooted and unlocked the Galaxy S Vibrant using SGS Pro 1.3 and wondered if there is any such type of software out there that could do the same for the Doubleplay. I have searched XDA for answers on this matter but found none nor is there really a section for the doubleplay for me to properly ask this question so if I have posted this in the wrong section please let me know and I will repost in the right section or if possible could a Mod move this post to the right section if this indeed is posted wrongly. Please all help on this would be a god send. While I'm at it, not sure if there is a universal type of unlocker but i also have two other phones i need to also unlock which would be the Optimus T LG-P509 and a ZTE Z990. I did read a bit about the hex editing method to get an unlock code but was looking for a more user friendly way of unlocking. thanks

Im sorry
I am sorry that I cant answer your question!
what caught my Attention is that you have Rooted the Doubleplay! I am desperate! Please give any information you have on how you did it. I have been searching for months.

Hi - I just rooted mine with unlockroot dot com - I haven't found a ROM to load (yet) but it appears to have worked as Rom Manager and System Toolbox both report that they have root access. SU was installed, busybox was not (although a quick trip to the marketplace remedied that)
One odd thing. After rooting, I installed Rom Manager (premium) from the marketplace, it reported that clockwork was already installed, so I told it to reboot into recovery. It rebooted to the picture of the android standing next to the open software box with the scrolling status bar below, stayed there for a few moments (10-15 sec) and then rebooted again and went straight to the initial setup wizard. And... the phone had been wiped of all user data. This kind of matches up with the "android unpacking screen" mentioned in this T-Mobile support dock regarding performing a master reset of the phone: support.t-mobile dot com/docs/DOC-2980
Unfortunately, I haven't come across any ROMs for the DoublePlay, and the 'net in general seems to have washed it's collective modding/hacking/tweaking hands of it.

[Q] (Q) Phone stuck in recovery mode - help?

Apologies if this is a repeat/stupid question - I've looked and looked and can't find/understand a solution that fits my problem. I just acquired a Fascinate, and couldn't help myself - I wanted it rooted. I previously owned multiple Erises and rooted them all, so I figured it couldn't be that bad.
I followed the one-click instructions in the Android Central forums, as I had trouble finding instructions for a Mac user that I could comprehend anywhere else (sorry, I'm new enough that I can't post a full link): forums dot androidcentral dot com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/65924-guide-tools-information-mac-os-x-users-updated-04-07-a.html
Somewhere between steps 3 and 5, my phone got stuck in recovery mode and won't come out. Everything looked like installed successfully. But now it's a black background, blue text. Clicking "apply sdcard:update.zip" gets me an error message. Wiping seems to work. Rebooting just gets me back to the same screen. No option to choose a zip.
I googled around all last night, and can't find a solution. It looks like there are lots of options to use Odin in some way, but I have a Mac. In this case, there's TOO much information out there, and I can't decipher it. HELP!
I realize I'm totally at fault for jumping the gun on rooting, but here I am. The thread I used has been quiet for weeks and no one's answering. Can anyone help? How can I get my phone back on track?
Thank you!
Since you're using a mac you need heimdall to fix it...or find a friend who has a pc to use odin.your phone is recoverable so your not really screwed yet but I have little knowledge on how to use heimdall...do some searching on the site, dale v had an excellent walk through on how to use it but I just can't find the link right now...maybe someone else will see this and post a link for ya.

[Q] Removed TWLauncher now i cant boot my S2 HELP please

Hi there. I posted in another thread my question but i dont think its in the right section so sorry for reposting it here.
I was trying to delete a useless app with Titanium Backup (TWlauncher) but it turns out this was not the useless app i was looking for. Now i cant boot my phone. I'm just stuck at the Samsung Galaxy SII loading screen. I only got the phone yesterday and rooted it thanks to your guides on here. I've not got any restore options when i boot the phone into download mode. I have tried to just flash with a new ROM but i dont know what i'm doing wrong. Tried to look around the forums for old threads that might help but i couldnt find one. If anyone could link me to the needed information i would be very grateful. I'm a total n00b when it comes to android phones but have a little experience hacking various other items (Wii, iPhone and a little bit of Xbox)
Thanks in advance for any help and sorry if this isnt the right place to ask but i'm pretty worried! Only took the phone out the box yesterday, rooted it fine and stupidly deleted something i thought was useless.
Sorry to hear that. Have you attempted a manual factory reset? If you have then I would suggest you contact your mobile phone service provider or the company themselves and ask them what they suggest. If nothing has worked and you have tried all of this then your device is most likely bricked. Hope this helps!
After a lot of worry and many google searches I found out that i have got a backup, i just needed to hold the up volume instead of the down volume to get to the restore screen. I was just being a n00b basically. Sorry for wasting your time but maybe this might help someone else at some point (someone as stupid as me)

Hope for IMEI

Hi everyone,
I've been an android user for a long time and I just bought a SGS3 on ATT, I was ready to start flashing until I saw this thread, and now I don't even want to root.
I've read all the threads I could find on this issue and they all said slightly different things, so I'm looking for a concrete answer to this question:
Are any devs working on this, and if so are they making progress toward a real solution in the future? (I ask this because I've read some people saying this may never be fixed)
I appreciate your responses, and I hope they do find a solution so I won't be stuck on stock forever.
Also: If I do lose my IMEI, does everything still work except 4G?
1. root
2. triangle away
3. if it messes up, return and say 'i dunno wtf happened, it just happened randomly'
4. ????
5. profit
6. YOLO

[SOLVED][Q][ICS] Need help with recovery install on YourPad P4

EDIT: Well I managed to get clockworkmod installed and everything; still having some issues with aspects of it, but in general I'm good. I'll probably make a dedicated thread to the device; if anyone wants to suggest a proper forum section, be my guest.
Ok, so I need some assistance on installing CWM or another recovery mode on my YourPad P4. I've already rooted and installed ROM Manager, but it could not find a compatible CWM version.
Now, first off I have also been unable to get an exact or better identification of this tablet other than it being sold as a "YourPad P4" and that it's model is MID; so I might also need help getting more details to better assist the finding of a compatible or working recovery.
Here is some information about it...
* Site purchased from/detail page:
http://www.yourstoreonline.net/yourpad_p4_new_android_40/id2040716/product.html
Don't worry, I got it for ~$100 (with the 1GB RAM upgrade), not the displayed price on the site!
* About tablet page info:
Model number: MID
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 3.0.8
[email protected] #2
Build number: 20120807-A721
Also, before I start messing with it I was going to make a nandroid backup to share for others...does nandroid backup firmware as well? I've never needed to restore a backup so I have no idea what goes into it and can't find a quick answer. I'd like to make a backup of a clean as possible system to share for anyone wanting it. Although I'm surprised that its not been mentioned on xda, I'd expect this tablet to have at least been asked about once considering it was mentioned on woot.
Thanks to anyone for any help, and I apologize if this should be in a different section. If so, could a mod please move it before any fuss is made.
And now, I'm off to bed (so I won't be responding/checking this for a few hours).
Not to sure about the rules for thread bumping, but I just wanna make sure this gets seen soon (as I'll be very busy and it will be hard to work on it next week and the the days that follow).
Also I thought it was worth mentioning now that only really mentions of this tablet I can find are in posts by me, ahahahahaha
EDIT: Oh, and I havn't verified I even have a recovery partition yet as I can't cat /proc/mtd
it's been about a week now and no response; I even posted it over here http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...cs-need-help-recovery-install-yourpad-p4.html
so bumping, if anyone at the very least knows some mystical other worldly site that somehow manages the chance of providing me an answer over the ever amazing xda; please post

Thanks alot for this, I'll definitely read it over a few times before attempting. Hopefully this will work out. Thread is still open for any other input, so anyone else coming here that can provide any additional help go ahead and post.
Well I still have been unable to get a recovery option going. I tried the link mentioned by AJ88 and it didn't work for me. Essentially the link boiled down to 2 simple adb commands and a custom recovery.img. First step was to "adb push recovery.img /data/", but I ran into a permission denied issue and could not figure out a way around it (didn't want to mess with chmod, but I did run the "fix permissions" script in the clockworkmod rom manager. So instead I just pushed the recovery.img to my sdcard. Next step was "adb shell "cat /data/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg; sync""; so instead I went "adb shell" then su to make sure I didn't get any more issues, then just "cat /sdcard/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg; sync". Rebooted and tried all combinations of key pressings to access recovery with no luck (even tried via adb). So any ideas on my next course of action?
youtPad P4 issues
Dear EarthBoundX5,
Please do not feel alone in what I might be perceiving as "buyer's remorse" as I also own this device and have begun to have issues with it functionality. Initially I was attracted to this device for what seemed a myriad of available functions and abilities, however I'm really starting to believe the old saying, "you get what you pay for".
My main issue at this point is when using the free Kindle app, after selecting my book, the screen goes completely blank and does NOT come back with the reading material I've selected. If I touch the back button, I get a brief flash of the screen showing the page that I'm on in the book, but after that nothing. I've tried rebooting the machine, currently trying a fresh install of the Kindle app, we'll see how that goes TODAY.
I also have another off-brand tablet, iBridge, which was purchased during the frustration period of waiting for YourStore . com to get their act together and send me the YourPad. Funniest part about it though is that the iBridge comes with a booklet thats 4x the size of the poorly written "booklet" that the YourPad people put out.
I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for your problem as I'm a complete newb with the tablet world, but wanted to at least touch base with you to let you know "you are not alone. I am here with you...." LOL
Found you with a google search for online help regarding YourPad, and it brought me to you, and this seems like the most helpful place I might have found in reference to oddball tablet issues. Take care, have a good day. and I'll check back in to notify regarding Kindle reinstall.
Well I've been waiting for a reply to either of my threads with no luck, so today I figured I'd just try again the method of manually setting up a recovery, and this time I just decided to try and hold every button I could while powering and and BAM RECOVERY MODE *****ES!!!!!! So guess either I must've just screwed up last time or something. Anyways, I'll edit the OP to reflect all this later...maybe start a dedicated thread with any quirks I figure out down the line using this tablet; and of course post my nandroid backup. When I setup my 2nd YourPad, I'll make sure to make backups of any files I may have had to change (ie, nandg, etc). The question is, what section would such a thread belong?

I don't feel any buyer's remorse...yet at least, haha. If I end up having the same issues as you, maybe I'll change my mind; but I really don't see much wrong yet with this tablet. I mean, obviously its cheap and all, but for the poor man its fantastic. But ya, I HATE the YourStore, they took FOREVER to ship out the tablets. Anyways, for people like you, it really makes me thing I should take point on this tablet and start a dedicated thread.

[Q] HELP NEEDED!! Rooted my phone Acer Liquid E2

Hi I am needing quite a bit of help and information, I know that the help and information I need is quite a fair bit to me, but to a lot of you might actually just be basic stuff, I must confess i am new to the rooting world, and android, But i have been Researching rooting my phone for a few months now and finally plucked up the courage to do it at the weekend, anyway first things first, i have a Acer liquid e2 v370 with jelly bean 4.2.2, kernel version 3.4.5, I rooted my phone with Impactor through my pc and, when it was downloading it stopped and a message appeared saying payloader stopped or stopped working, so i thought it never worked but i then tried it on my tablet and it rooted it, so i downloaded root checker onto my phone and it said i had root access which i was over the moon with, Did payloader stop because that's how it goes onto the phone and stopped because the download was finished? ok now this might seem a daft question, but i will ask anyway, ok ive done loads of research but come across all different answers and different preferred ways, so now i am rooted what do i do? what apps are a must have? do i have the correct things installed? the apps i have are " super su " Titanium Back up " Busy Box " T-W-R-P " Root uninstaller " Root Checker " and that's it, in one of the apps i cant remember what one exactly but it asked to turn off boot loader, but i read that rooting your phone does that, am i on the right path? i will also tell you the main reasons i wanted root access, i wanted to uninstall preloaded apps that i don't want or use i did try this with the root uninstaller but failed to delete the apps as there still on my phone, i also wanted my phone to run a bit quicker and longer battery life change themes, and make my music louderand get some game cheats and that's about it other than having the options to do what i wish with the phone, i am hoping to get a custom rom but i haven't backed anything up yet as all i have done is browsed through the apps and not changed anything, anyway i will apologise in advance if i have placed this thread in the wrong place, i did think it was more suitable to genral than any other place, i also would like to thank you in advance as this is a big ask, but now i have root i just need a point in the right direction to get me started, thanks again for your time barry[/I]
help needed
There must be one of you geniuses out there that can help me get started with my newly rooted phone ,"acer liquid e 2 v370" I managed to root it with the help of alot of posts on this forum, but now its rooted I dont know what to do, I have looked every were and cant find what I am looking for, I would highly appreciate any help what so ever, it does not need to be all the things at once but if anyone has any information on what I do now with the things ive downloaded onto my phone, and like I mean just downloaded straight from google play, I havent flashed anything or backed anything up, i would greatly appreciate it, I would even like some help on how to back up my phone, so I can at least mess around with it my self and see what I can do, so any help from anyone will be much appreciated thanks again guys bazzaboy1:good:
