Wireless Remote Control. Is there any such to Android? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I think I already knows the answer to my question but still hope that perhaps someone has found what I seek.
Using Prime as a music player connected to my stereo. It had been really convenient if there was a simple remote control where you could change the track/play/paus and raise and lower the volume.
Not looking for a BT headset with these features, but it should be a "normal" remote.
The nearest thing i found is SE Live View. I have ordered one to test and see how it works, but have a feeling that there is not the simple solution that I looking for. Live View are certainly require some tweaking and Tricks and have more features than its necessary.
As an example. I found what I seek but for Ipad

Sometimes you get a little jealous of all the accessories available for the Apple products.
Would have been so sick nice if we could get the same range for android.

If you have an android phone you can use an app called Tablet Remote and control play pause fwd. Need to install to both devices

There is no reason why that one won't work on Android - these things are usually pretty universal.
Motorola makes a "smart controller", but only offers the Android buttons and a mouse (as well as a headset).

"Trust" that sells the remote control also has other accessories that work with more brands than Apple, and write it also in the description. But on the remote they only mention Ipad
Would not surprise me if it is so that they have done something that makes it only works with Apple.
It is unfortunately a little too expensive for just to buy and test if it turns out that it does not work.

If you have a Wii remote, there is a free app in the Play Store that will allow you to use it as a media remote. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like a good idea.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.d3fc0n.apps.android.MusicWiiMote
This app requires a second free app:

Hope this helps.

Droidmote server on tablet ad Droidmote client on the phone. I plug into my hdtv and stream vids through the tablet wth plex using the phone as a remote.

Are there any similar apps that do not require you to root your tablet? I have been looking for an app to control netflix on my Prime from my Atrix.

Will take a look at this..
Do you or somebody else have any experience on how good the bluetooth is in these controllers?
do they have good transmission range so you don't have to be really close to the device to get connections?
And do it have to be a original Nintendo controller or do a noname work good,
The SE Liveview was not good. Really bad bluetooth range. And it disconnect often and was not stable. I more problems then help.

You could get an app like blueputdroid to act as a mouse and keyboard for your prime.

ordered a Original Wii remote. So will be fun and so how it work. Hopefully it works good and after the first pairing and setup the remote can auto connect or just need one tap to connect to the prime.
Asus Prime & Tapatalk

I tested it earlier today with an original Wiimote. I was able to walk around my house with the Wiimote and it stayed connected. Your mileage may vary, but it had pretty good range for me.
Unfortunately, it takes a few steps to get it connected and started up every time you want to play music, and a few steps to disconnect. It's not complicated, but you have to launch one app, connect the Wiimote to it, then launch the second app to start the music remote. But once you're connected it works nicely.

Ok.. Sounds good that the connection is fine. As long at it works in the same room or have clear view and that you can be 5 to 8 meters from Prime iam pleased. And it sounds that it works better then I expected. Thanks for testing.
Sounds not so good that I have to launch 2 apps to get it going. For me myself it doesn't matter. But this remote idé was for my mother so wanted something really simple that she can understand..
She connects here's Prime to the stereo with Bluetooth using the Logitech Bluetooth adapter connected to the stereo RCA.. Can highly recommend this product, works perfectly. All she does is to activate the Primes BT and the start som music and Prime automatically connect to the Logitech BT adapter.
Back to topic.
Should it be possible to use some Tasker, scheduler, So when she starts the Bluetooth on Prime this also starts the apps needed for the Wiimote in the background so all she does is to start bluetooth and turn on the Wiimote controller.?

Thank you. Been looking for something like this. Works great. Haven't figured out how to use game controller though. Doesn't seem to work. The mouse function is my favorite.

Just a little update and that we can say "case closed."
Have now tested the setup with the Wii remote . And it works really well. Are some steps to get it connected but they are easy and fast to do. After the Wiimote is connected it works great. The connection is fine and I can be pretty faraway from the Prime and still be able to change track and volume.
So I think this is as good at it can get.. But still hopes we will get a real, dedicated Remote control for music, video that can connect automatically when you start BT ON Prime & without the need for 3rd parts programs that now is needed.
I used the original Nintendo controller because I wanted to be sure to get a well function controller with good bluetooth. Not sure how good the no name controllers are.. The Wii remote can be bought in 4 different colors and the controller is quite small so it almost look like a real remote. And the best part is that it has really good BT.
What you need.
Wii Remote
Music Wiimote App
Wiimote Controller App
And the its just straight forward.
1. Start Music Wiimote and push activate
2. You get a popup asking about permission to use BT and if you want to connect Wii Remote.. Push YES. Wiimote Controller starts automatically.
3. Push Init and Connect and directly after you press 1+2 the same time on the controller and 4 lights start flashing.. when the flashing stops and there is only 1 light showing the controller is connected.
4. Hit back or home and you are now good to go.
And when you are done using it you just turn of BT and the apps stops and the Wii remote turns off.
Thanks again @jkvato for the tips

I use tablet remote to control my video player (MX Player). I've never tried it with my music player (Stock). It's free and you don't have to be rooted.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tournesol.tabletremote&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS50b3VybmVzb2wudGFibGV0cmVtb3RlIl0.

I use tablet remote, but I have called for motorola smart controller. It's expensive. Shall try to update if it's worth it though my main purpose is video controlling.

To use bluetooth profiles such as
Advanced audio distribution profile (a2dp)
Sends music in great quality from your device to another device. For example, you walk in your house, your tablet pairs up with your PC. You sit and relax in the living room, pull out the tablet and hit play on your favorite music. The music gets sent to your Desktop or laptop which is hooked up to a large scale audio system.
Audio video remote control (AVRCP)
You are at home, you have a projector and you are sitting in the living room. Desk is in a corner. You are watching My Little Pony on VLC or Media player classic. You want to press pause or skip, but you dont want to have to get up and go to the pc and fumble around with the mouse. Instead, you can grab your phone or tablet that has an app that will act as a remote control and press pause or skip.
Personal area network (PAN)
send stuff to print. (BPP)
Send / Receive files Object push profile (OPP)
Serial port profile (SPP)
and more...

And because it has the capability, but its just missing the drivers. An incomplete product? booo!

I see, but many of these tasks can be done with wifi. for example:
(a2dp) - google music: syncs up all music from tablet and desktop
(AVRCP) - Splashtop remote desktop
(PAN) / transfer files - use LAN ?

There are a ton of apps out there and it depends greatly on what you need them for.
Since you mentioned school and I'm a big techy Droid lover in my junior year at uni I'll give you my list of awesome apps for school that I use.
First thing every student needs is a note taking app...
Evernote (has so many uses for school)
StudyBlue (paired with Evernote gives a great way to be ready for any test)
School Assistant (Great to keep track of classes, HW due date, test dates and more)
Moon+ (eBook reader that is great for reading the pirated ebooks to save book money)
Google Docs (writing papers)
Lazy Shopper (keeping track of grocery lists and prices)
Minus (if you need to share any file)
MxVideo (watching videos)
CamScanner (digitize handouts or whiteboard and add notes, it's amazing)
Hackers Keyboard (I like having a full keyboard if I only have a device)
Thumb Keyboard (awesome for typing, really is)
If you need a calculator there are so many to choose from on the market.
Extra (just extra apps to relax and kick back):
Google Currents (great place for articles from great places)
Video Game emulator of psx or other game system is fun
Destinia RPG game that's fun.
Sixaxis Controller (connect PS3 controller via BT or via USB with Transformer Dock.)
Skifta (paired with TVersity on my comp is amazing for watching all my movies and shows stored on the comp)
Ice Stream (stream shows and movies right to your device for boredom)
Don't forget Google Voice for free texting and voicemail on any device.
I'm sure there's more I missed but I was just trying to suggest student to student. Hope you like the good side of technology.

A quick check of Amazon.com releaves that Sony seems to be the only one making DLNA speakers. Several Home Audio Amps and BluRay players are coming with that feature, as well as Smart HDTVs. I have a few of both, and am truly enjoying throwing music from my tablet to my home theater via a Sharp Smart TV. Can't help you with a speaker choice though. Maybe a few more brands will show up with DLNA speakers this year.

I wonder if they will work with video from netflix or mx video player coming on the screen still but sound out of the dlna or is it bad idea or impossible?
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk
DLNA support is still a mixed bag as far as my experience shows. I haven't seen any device or app that can split up the audio and video to output to different devices. Anything I can throw video at gets the audio as well. At best you can keep a now playing screen up for audio on the tablet when sending the actual music output to a speaker or amp or TV. Yet if the audio or video is web based, wifi is occupied and I haven't yet found a way to also use DLNA to forward either the audio or video part of it to another device. Not to say it won't be possible in the future, but DLNA is a relatively new technology. I suspect we'll eventually see two wifi channels/chips in these devices, mainly to support wifi in and DLNA out simultaneously.
so what you suggest, should I buy one or wait??!!!??
its actually quite expensive as well..
I have both the tablet s n sans300 dlna speakers n it all works fine for me. Haven't been able to play a movie on the tablet with the sound via the speakers with dlna but the speaker has an audio in port where u can just plug a 3.5mm audio jack in to play as a regular speaker...
Btw, the sans300 is amazing n has great audio quality wherever u r in the room...I just wish that it also ran on batteries so it can just "float" in the middle of the room...

The same splitting problem will still be present as it is not possible for a DLNA Renderer of any kind to play media it is not able to play (i.e. speakers cannot play movies). DLNA just doesn't work like that.
It's also worth noting that DLNA support for me has been far from a "mixed bag" when using the stock Sony apps, so they're definitely a better bet.
When these speakers will be available in Singapore..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
why use DNLA ....
..... use bluetooth, logic make a BT connetor that you can use on any speakers I've got one set up that uses all my mobile devices including laptops galaxy note Tablet s etc.
Be wary that using Bluetooth does invoke a certain loss in audio quality, but does enable you to connect without WiFi. They are quite different technologies after all.
As for the DLNA's availability, you might be best asking the Sony Central (or Style) in Singapore about that.
Yes, thats true there is a loss (or so they tell me), but if like me, you cant tell the difference, meh.
The sound comes out of the speakers and the vid plays on the tab, and the logic is only about 30 quid so if you've already got speakers no need to buy new ones.

[Q] Is the Prime right for me? Questions inside.

Hey guys I've been reading through these forums since before the Prime's release and have been patiently awaiting it but obviously I have been disappointed by some of the problems that have arisen. I was hoping to get the Prime for specific applications and figured I'd ask you guys if the Prime will meet my expectations. I wanted to be sure of these things before I bought so any answers would be very helpful. Here is what I'm looking for in the prime:
1) Regarding Wi-Fi: My router is upstairs and I’d like to be able to use the Tablet to stream video from youtube or Netflix one and two floors down from the router. Will I see any problems with a non-faulty prime? Is it highly dependent on the router and internet provider? I live in a single house and when I search for my internet connection I usually see three or four others with very low signal strength, not sure if that’s an issue.
2) I plan to stream Netflix, how is this on the prime? I also would like to connect my tablet to the tv via HDMI and stream video or games.
3) I would like to download emulators for genesis, snes, psx, n64 (I own all the systems but I want something portable + hate hooking them up) and play them throughout the house, anyone know if there is lag or how well these emulators play on the prime? Can I use a wireless xbox360 controller without the dock? If not what if the prime’s rooted?
4) Remote desktop is fairly important for me. I like to play older PC games like Baldur’s Gate, Diablo, Fallout, Civilization etc. on my tablet via remote desktop. Anyone tried this? How is the range? Is there an app that allows me to wake my computer from sleep because that’s what I put my PC in when I’m not using it to save power.
5) I know GPS doesn’t work but can I use wi-fi to download maps and look at them when I’m away from wi-fi?
6) I’d like to use a Bluetooth headset to listen to music on the bus when my prime is in my bag. I have a Bluetooth mouse that I wouldn’t mind using sometimes as well. I assume both of those work fine but I read that the Bluetooth and wi-fi won’t work together so I’m guessing no youtube + Bluetooth headphones or mouse? Not a huge deal for me If they work fine without wi-fi.
7) I’d like to read fairly large textbooks on my prime and was hoping it was relatively lag free.
1. wifi for me works fine for me with decent range, well enough to where i don't notice any reall difference from my phone. i can be downstairs, in the garage, a handful of rooms over and it's fine.
2. netflix also works fine for me, i haven't connected the tablet to a tv to stream netflix, but i've played locally stored videos from the tablet via hdmi just fine.
3. i haven't used any emulators but afaik, you can't use the wireless xbox controller with the prime, but ps3 controller via bluetooth is possible with root access and the sixaxis (sp) app.
4. remote desktop works well, but for any game that needs very little lag for input, it's not going to be an ideal situation, but for something like civ, it should really be fine.
5. you can cache maps with the labs feature in google maps, it should be able to pull up map data w/o a connection, but you won't be able to search or get directions w/o a connection.
7. i haven't had any problems reading anything i've thrown on the prime yet.

5 Very Useful Apps For Android TV

5 Very Useful Apps For Android TV
Android TV is pretty great when you're using it with YouTube, Netflix, Hulu or if you're casting stuff from your phone. However you might have noticed that it's lacking a lot of interesting apps in its watered down version of the Play store. You'll skim through it really quick, realize there is nothing good and then you'll back out. Before you stick a fork in an electrical outlet due to disappointment, how about I show you some of these useful Android TV apps that don't get a whole lot of attention.
Sideload Launcher - Android TV
Most of us probably find ourselves sideloading a lot of apps onto Android TV to makeup for the lack of ones available on the Play store. Since the Android TV launcher only displays apps downloaded from the Play store, you can only access sideloaded apps through your settings. That's garbage. Fear not, Sideload Launcher takes care of that problem by replacing the stock launcher so you can see all of your apps.

[Root] TV Boot
I don't know why Android TV does not have a restart option. I always find myself in a situation where I need to restart my nexus player, so I have to get up and travel across my seemingly endless living room to unplug it. I had both my legs replaced with some really flimsy hollow plastic ones that collapse under my own weight whenever I try to use them. I should stop volunteering for those medical trials. Anyways the point is that the TV Boot app will let you restart or shutdown Android TV from your phone. That's really all there is to it. This will work on rooted devices only.

Mirror Beta
Ever head of ClockworkMod? Of course you have. You've probably used their custom recovery at some point while modifying your phone. You've probably never heard of their Mirror app. This app lets you cast your Android screen to Fire TV, Chromecast or Apple TV. It also works as a screen recorder which comes in handy. It's one of the best apps for screen casting, especially if you have to use both an Apple TV and A Chromecast regularly.

Notifications for Android TV
Notifications on your Android TV is a great way to broadcast to a room full of people that you're fighting with your girlfriend. This app will let you push any notifications that you'd receive on your phone right to your TV. You can scroll through every notified message on the Android TV in fullscreen mode. You can even change the settings individually for each application.

Santi: Instagram on Android TV
One of the big social media apps that is missing entirely on Android TV in instagram. With Santi, you'll be able to login with your account and browse the photos from the people you follow. The only feature this is missing the is ability to like posts or follow/unfollow users. Aside from that it's got everything you need!

I think what you'll need for that is an app that streams live TV. These apps do exists but they'll only work through your TV provider. So if I have Comcast TV, I can download the Comcast app and get live TV that I can stream to my Nexus player. Check to see if your TV provider has an Android compatible app that lets you live stream TV.

Yah, this would be great. Then cable TV becomes a second-class citizen in your streaming environment, which is how it should be.

Steam Link (New Android TV App)
I have a great experience to use Android TV with YouTube. I would like to share another new Android TV app here:
Steam Link:
It is one of the top additions at Google Play Store in May 2018, through which user can stream from the Desktop or PC to Android device. It means, users can stream games directly from TV up to 4K Resolutions at 60 fps.
Tnx for the info
