So I've had my Droid Incredible since it came out and loved it. I was eligible for a new phone a few weeks ago but wasn't quite ready. Today I figured out my accelerometer died and it's annoying me to death. So I'm going to take the plunge. I'm currently with Verizon, so it'd have to be a Verizon phone. I don't want anything with a slide out keyboard. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions. My first thoughts were:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
LG Spectrum
Droid RAZR
Now, the other question I have is, should I stick it out for something coming next month like the Droid Incredible 4G, GSIII, or *prays* the ASUS Padfone?
I would wait for new wave of phones if I were you.maybe better performance dualcore phones with big battery and cool new screen tech.Iam sure Verizon will get some badboyz soon.
Ps;get something with icecream sandwich out of box.waiting is killing me

If you are into flashing ROMs and modding then you are going to want the Nexus since its a Nexus. The Razr is a nice phone hardware wise but it comes with Motorola's locked bootloader and delayed ICS.
I've had the first galaxy since it came out and its awesome! Its obviously a really old device so it doesnt handle somethings too well, but i still love it.
Im super stoked for the galaxy 3. I would suggest getting that phone!

Good point. Forgot about Motorola's locked bootloaders.
i have the spectrum and i love it... its fast no lagging... battery life for my dad which is about normal usage is about 16 hours...
it has been rooted.. and it has clockworkmod.. but if you plan on using custom roms this is not the phone to choose... we had 1 dev working on cm7 and today he posted that he was giving up because he cant get it to flash properly..
if you have the money for it i would choose the galaxy nexus.... the nexus devices have more dev support than any other phones
Well i would say that if you cant wait and have to make choice from Samsung Galaxy Nexus,LG Spectrum,Droid RAZR then choose Nexus....but if you can wait then go for S3 .....I am hoping the Galaxy S3 when it finally comes will bring the best of the Galaxy S range along with Android 4.0 ICS.

im trying to see if I should wait for the Galaxy S2, GX2, or htc Sensation too.
Sensation and Galaxy S2 both have more Ram the the LG, but the LG is out now...
All 3 use are different duel core processor.
I definitely dont think you should go for the mytouch 4 with the LG out now and others on the way.
trying to decide which of the 3 duel core phones to go for myself.
if you are looking for a phone now, its the LG hands down. If you are willing to wait, then you are in the same boat as me. not sure between the LG, HTC, or Sammy
Ya, the htc is supposed to be out in June or July. But my son's mytouch slide is having issues. So I'm considering upgrading and giving him my phone.

Switch from the vibrant I'm on the g2x nd lovin it by far the fastest phone I have ever owned. I've owned a lot I'm a phone whore... I'm still going to get the galaxy s 2 when it comes out phones are like pokemon gotta catch em all

If you can wait ............wait for the S2 the hardware is something to wait for. Over the next 10-15 months all the phones will go through a huge change. All the new phones hardware will have the capacity to run windows 7 (not that they will) but think about it ....the phone I have now has the same power as my windows 2000 computer 7 years ago............ amazing time.........
The vibrant has too much going for it to pay for an upgrade now. Especially in my mind the uncertainty of the AT&T takeover, or as i call it, when we all get screwed.
The g2x is amazing. I want one. But I also know my phone is dang good and only better phones are going to roll out... More GHz and more dual cores.
The next phone with a perfect 4"screen, 1.3+ GHz dual core on a good/cheap network may change my opinion... In the future.
S2 for sure. There is nothing to discuss, and nothing to think about. That is just the way to do it. Period.
S2 has a answered my prayers. I have been waiting for a freakin 4.3 SAMOLED phone to come out. Sammy only had the 4" galaxy S - Vibrant last year with talks of "dual core."
I'm glad that they didn't rush it either- because that would have been a huge liability waiting to happen.
Instead, they listened to our gripes.
1. 32gb memory- on bigger model
2. FFC - badass
3. FLASH!!!!
4. 8mp camera
5. 4.3" Capacitive Touch
6. Super Amoled!!!!!!!!
7. Gorilla glass?
8. External SD support up to 32gb
9. 4g !!!!!
10. GingerBread official.
11. Mod edit: to much info mate...keep it to yourself.
Seriously, it blows anything out of the water that is out there and will be out there in the near future.
Plus, Tmobile is getting is.
I'm going to buy 10 of these just in case zombies attack, then I'll just sit back and relax.
Anyway, /shameless Plug.
you get the picture.
GL with your decision.
A better way to go about this is, do you plan on rooting your new phone and installing custom ROMs? If you you do intend to do that, then i think Samsung has proven they could careless about you or the dev community so long as you buy there product.
We all know HTC shares there source code and there is a herd of diehard HTC fans who will mod the crap out of the Sensation.
I just picked up the G2x yesterday after i seen that LG has already released source code for not only the OS but kernel source code as well, and with cyanogen himself doing the CM7 port to the G2x, it will and should be community supported greatly as well
A thing that sold me on the G2x is that it supports AT&T 3G bands, so if its still my main phone if the merger goes down, it'll be a fully compatible device and i wont need to buy a new one to take advantage of AT&Ts extended coverage
So in the end it really just boils down to:
How long can you wait?
Do you intend to mod your phone?
Galaxy S2 hands down.
It will have a lot of ROMS for it since it has an unlocked Bootloader just like the Vibrant. The HTC Sensation does NOT. It also has lots of memory internal, and a 4.3 Super Amoled PLUS. Everything else you can compare to the HTC Sensation of G2X as all 3 have relatively similar "rest of the phone".
I'm on a g2x lets hope that the galaxy 2 does not have the normal sammy problems like on the vibrant I have a bitter taste for them now

as you can see from the second post in this thread, I too am trying to decide between gx2, gs2, sensation...
i see tons of people saying the samsung gs2 will be the best thing ever. So yes, Sammy does have awesome hardware (look at our vibrants). But, will it be cheap plastic? and who cares how great the hardware is if the Software sucks balls? (like our vibrants). Yes, our developers are awesome, but they are having to run circles around Sammy's terrible software writing...
I am not saying this is the case with the gs2, as im thinking about it too, just wondering these things...?
Thank you guys so much for your responses. It was exactly what I was looking for, different opinions. I needed to get a phone because two of the phones on my plan were injured. My son chose the "sidekick" not a bad phone, but I tried to talk him out of it. But whatever, it was cheaper.(good for me). I chose the G2x. And I gotta say, WOW! And for those wondering, the screen is just as good. Colors even seem a bit deeper. Quadrants (whatever) but 2200 out the box. The 4g is way better than my 3g. You tube on HD without a stutter. Couldnt pull that off before.
1080 vid recording (I was told) not tested yet.
Fast fast fast processor.
FFC (untested yet)
8mp camera with flash.
Feels much more solid and better made than Vibrant.
Stock against stock. Hands down its better. Guess I will have to wait on dev community for customization results. Maybe I will try to figure out how and root it tonight to remove some bloat.
I will miss my Vibrant (but my sis in law will be happy).
Oh! And I heard today the merge with ATT may not happen. Yay!

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with choosing a phone. I actually bought the Galaxy s2 lte (skyrocket)but then i returned because I didn't love it and I felt like there was something better and the plan then was to wait for the galaxy nexus. But after that, I read that the galaxy nexus would be left in the dust once phones like the s2 and the newer htc phones get ics. Is this true? Also, If I want a galaxy nexus I have to wait until it's comes to rogers since only bell and virgin have it where I live. I also read that the normal s2 is pretty good too and will be getting ics pretty soon so that was another phone I wanted but rogers didn't have it, they only had the lte version of it. I've also looked at the htc evo 3d and lg optimus 3d but the phones suck and the only really good feature is 3d and and hdmi port in the optimus. The motorola razr also seemed like a nice phone but then i read some bad stuff about it's battery life and display and I heard about an upcoming droid razrmax which is rumored to be a new razr with better specifications and battery life. Help me decide which phone to buy please.
go to some store, take a look at the phones you mentioned and you`ll find the answer.
I have Lg optimus 2x and i`m very pleased with it. It has very nice features, it`s fast and will be getting ICS.
or where have you gone?
I just got mine yesterday. Its awesome.
Got mine.. love it but it feels like a freaking tablet compared to the Eris

My 4 reason for getting a Rezound over the Nexus.
1. Better screen
2. Better camera
3. Build Quality (Nexus feels like a toy compared to the Rezound to me)
4. I actually like Sense.
I got my SGN on the 15th. It is soooo much better than the Eris. Of course it is also 2 years newer.
I really love ICS, it is quite a step up from Gingerbread. After using it the manufacturers are going to have to step up their game to compete. I see no reason to use an after market launcher with ICS.
Droid 3. I had a Bionic first, but had many problems with data with it. It's a common problem with all of the LTE phones at the moment, so I decided to get the best 3G phone that I could get (plus I wanted a world phone), so it was between the D3, the DInc2, and the iPhone 4S.
Love my new Galaxy Nexus!
Too many superlatives to list...now I've got an HTC, two Motorolas, and a Samsung device .
What will I get next year, LOL?
Cheers!
I moved to a fascinate bit had problems now I have a incredible 2 .my wife just became an i-tard so I am playing around with her x2.

Got my Galaxy Nexus on launch day, Dec 15th, 3 days before my birthday.
Love, love, love it. Couldn't be happier. Little quirks here and there that could use fixing and a few things I miss from custom ROMs/launchers, but overall absolutely the best phone I have ever had.
Still keeping my Eris around as a music player/alarm clock though. Can't part with it!
Thinking about getting it, but I'm on the fence based on the various reviews.
By the time my thinking is done the next great phone will be announced and then what?
I went with the Galaxy Nexus. Huge step up for me from the Eris. I like how some of the above posters felt the need to justify their purchase over the Galaxy. Thats fine. Fact is they are all pretty great phones when your stepping up from something like an Eris. I loved my Eris but that hardware was seriously tired.
ICS was the main reason why I splurged. I hated to spend the money but ...Ice Cream Sandwich. Thats all I got to say about that.

Exactly. Trying to keep up with these new phones is like trying to keep up with video games or computers. As soon as you buy the top model, within a month there's a new hotness. I figure by the time my upgrade is available at the end of March there will be another 5-6 new Verizon phones, and so maybe the Nexus, Razr or Rezound upgrade prices will have dropped more by then.

Right. That said, though, there will not be another Nexus device until the next version of Android (whatever "J" will be.) Here's hoping that Verizon continues to sell them in the future.
I upgraded to Rezound, love this phone!
Well I've been on my thunderbolt and I must say I love this phone to death!<3 but the thing is... my original two year contract is up when I got the OG Droid. My question is
Is it worth purchasing the galaxy nexus?
Stick with nexus so you won't loss support for your smartphone as we saw from SE & Samsung for old phones
you can see youtube comparison
but If I were you I will wait s3
I am sure it will be the best phone ever made
at the end its up to you
I'm also eligible for an upgrade, but have held off on the GN. It should be a great device going forward, but it didn't seem that compelling to me yet to use my upgrade on it. I'm really interested in the Droid 4 (keyboard envy here), but I'm not sure.
After messing with the Rezound I am IMPRESSED to say the least.
My upgrade comes in March and the Rezound sounds perfect for what I want. I could careless about beats audio but everything else is top notch. When I messed with the Nexus it didn't nearly impress me as the Rezound did.
Galaxy Nexus. Tons of developer backing, awesome hardware, awesome build over all and ROMs galore at the moment. Can't put mine down
Galaxy Nexus. Better display and a lot of activity going on in that forum. Also newest updates from google.
Everything about the galexy nexus is better. But the new HTC resound is better than all of them ( with the exception of no AMOLED display). The MOTO Droid 4 is a good choice if you like the Droid 3 keyboard (I hate the Droid 3 keyboard, the Droid 2 one is much better) and or MOTO blur (MOTO blur is my lease favorite version of android). If it were up to me I would get the rezound becuase it has HTC sense 3.5. And there as a lot of develpment for that phone.
I have a Droid incredible 2. I would pay the 650 for the rezound but it will be outdated in a few months sooo.....
I will save my money until my next upgrade (2014)

Google Android phone with Google support for at least 3 or more years > any other android phone.
In the long run, fresh software updates from the OEM will trump anything else (even better hardware).
Most of the Nexus Kernels havent done much to improve the kernel Google has put out for the Nexus so far just as an FYI.
Also, you won't see this for any non-nexus phone:
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
You just flash them in fastboot and you have instant updates from Google.
Neither... Id wait a few more months before you make a decision. Galaxy nexus will not be the only phone with Ics in a few months. Give about a month or two before the thunderbolt has data working on the ics ports and an even beastlier phone will be out and you wont be mad about jumping the gun. Happened to me twice I learned my lesson. I'm gonna be a very patient verizon customer and wait for the Samsung galaxy journal or the htc edge to drop (if it comes to verizon). In the meantime, ill enjoy my grandfathered unlimited 4g while it lasts.

What about the Razr Maxx?
Luke
Owned the TB and now the GNexus. Seriously like night and day this phone has everything a rooter would want. Google updates for a couple years, very devoted hacking community, dual core. This phone is the only phone on Verizon worth getting a 2 year contract with.
I just want to pitch in as a T-Bolt owner for 9 months. I am strongly considering a Galaxy Nexus (if not, a close second would be the Droid 4). My reason has been the vanilla-android appeal (as a former Nexus One owner, I can attest to really disliking Sense UI after a while), and the hardware (save for the camera, but I don't use it much anyway).
Any thoughts on ppl transitioning from T-Bolt to GN?
Considering the Thunderbolt is a outdated device and the Galaxy Nexus is pretty much the newest device out.. You can't really compare them..It's obvious I'd get the Nexus..and at this point I'd buy a Nexus S
hi every one

If you're really impatient, the one x has a better processor and camera but doesnt look as cool as the galaxy nexus.
If not, just wait for the galaxy 3.
I am waiting for the next Nexus phone... it should be out this year... In the mean time I have a OneX as I hate Samsung Galaxy ( except the Nexus line)
i personally suggest HTC EVO 3D
get a nexus or wait for the next one. if the s3 comes out with gingerbread looking touchwizzz it would be a joke. if it has unadulterated ICS on it and samsung leaves it in peace so you can update on a regular basis and even hope for jellybean, then its an option. still i would get nothing but nexus because its open and friendly to the dev community and you'll get the best out of your phone always and without hassle.
galaxy nexus or s3, though the tegra version of the one x looks pretty sweet
If you don't like to wait, choose Nexus.
But I think it's better to waiting for S3
Wait for the Galaxy SIII Before doing a decision, I'm on the same boat!
If I were you I would have went straight for the One X but if your curious then waiting for the S3 is Also a viable suggestion.

Nexus for the best software (update) support.
But as of now, i would choose for the One X. Beautiful screen, beautiful hardware and ICS. Best Android phone on the market atm. That is until the GS3 will be released. Details are still unknown and might not be that much better than the One X. Who can tell?
One X would be the choice. Or you can wait till the GS3 gets announced to make a comparison.

yeah but thats what i mean. why would they do that. ICS is already ICS so why abusing it and fragmenting android further. why not just slapping bada on the s3 and everythings fine? if they again hack the framework to force hellish touchwizz on it the device will be crippled: no updates (because samsung would have to hack each and every iteration that google hands out), no support, lacking rom culture, no drivers and pale prospects for android-next. i have just made it through all this with my s2, not gonna do it again.
