What wifi problem? Mine works flawlessly.
I would try to exchange it. I think I've had 3 primes total and 2nd one had weak wifi but the 1st was good and my last one is probably the better out of all of them. Based my testing off wifi anylizer and speedtest.net app.
WiFi
You might want to check wifi analysis on your tab and change the default channel on your router.... out of 11 channels some are used more then others.... AND if your using netspeed to test try a different server... some suck others give great results.....I'm able to hit +30,000 kbps on some of them.

Should probably go in development but as a noob I can't post their yet.
Since updating to CM7 A3.5 I started having wireless issues. Would lose IP connectivity but connection up. Other wireless devices no issues and previous CM7 versions had been okay.
Updated to Xron 2.91 on here which seemed to make things worse.
Ran a wifi signal app and noticed neighbours AP on the same channel. Reconfigured mine and have had no touchpad issues since.
As all other devices were fine I didn't think of checking the frequency. Obviously the touchpad is a bit sensitive.
Hope someone else benefits from this. Thanks to those who released the Xrom and CM7 roms. Makes the touchpad a wicked cheap tablet.
Matt.
This has been talked about before and is considered one way of fixing wifi problems. If you still can't connect you could make the touchpad forget the network from settings and reconnect again. Using an app like regpon wifi keep alive helps a lot and finally a reboot helps if everything else fails

Also: Make sure your date/time is correct and a reboot into webOS often fixes it.
Yeah the wifi issues seem to be a hit or miss. Sometimes changing the channel works for people. Other times it's just the router. I would need to always "forget" the connection before turning my TP off then reconnect after at my house. But it works perfectly at my friends house. Thanks for the post though. It might help others with this issue.
i was just going to actually post in the thread, but like you, i am a newb with insufficient rights =)
ive done 4 touchpads, 3 different routers, cm7 3.0/3.5 and xronified 2.1 and to 2.9:
-asus rt12n w/tomato 1.28 in WDS mode with WPA1 AES on channel 11:
runs flawlessly on every revision and touchpad ive done so far.
-airlink ar670w w/ddwrt sp1 with WPA2 AES on channel 11:
initially connects but when TP goes to sleep, it will not reconnect on wakeup and strobe on and off and lock up wifi settings. cm7 3.0/3.5 and xronified 2.7/8/9
-linksys wrt54g w/hyper thibor with WPA2 AES on channel 11:
same results the airlink with ddwrt
after searching and experimenting, ive gotten both the linksys and airlink to play nice by doing the following:
1) changed encryption from WPA2 to WPA1
2) changed channels to 6 or 1 (personally i just picked whatever seemed less crowded)
3) disabled wifi sleep and scanning on TP.
4) rebooted TP into webos then back into android and rebooted router.
hope one or some of these solutions helped.
Even if your other devices weren't having issues being on the same wifi channel can cause packet loss due to interference making your Internet feel slower.
I also read that people had succes using the FXR Wifi Fix app to fix some of their wifi issues. If anyone is still having issues, you might want to try that out as well.

Download the apk and install manually from computer. just connect the touchpad to the computer and copy the file over.
The fxr app does restore my wifi connection, but does not permanently fix my disconnect issues. I am trying out the regpon app now, so hopefully this will help maintain my connections!
As far as messing with routers, this is not an option for me as I use my school's wifi network when I'm working in my lab.
I have only dropped once at home and after forgetting the network and reconnecting I never had trouble again.
First post here... Just want to say that this is an amazing community. So many cool heads willing to spend time to help. It's awesome. With guidance from many of you(I have done EXTENSIVE reading around here for days), I just did my first CM install on my TP and I am in heaven.
The solution I'very found is to tap the icon next to the back icon and then the wireless icon. Don't even know what the icons called, butit has buttons to turn. on/off wifi, Bluetooth, suond and what I'm assuming is the camera.
Hey guys,
sorry if this is a stupid question or its been asked before, but how can I test the wifi connection speed on my Prime? There must be a way to do it as all of the reviews have results..
Thanks for any info.
Search market for speed test speedtest.net have a nice app for that

thanks for the reply but i've tried that, it just tests my internet connection speed. I want to test my local wifi network speed
That is what a wifi test is doing is checking your internet speed.
Now if you want to check your signal strength, then look in the market for apps called wifi analyzer.
Speedtest is serverside so the max speed is going to be dependant on my internet connection.. all i'm interested in is my local speed.
Thanks for the replies.
I don't think there is an android app out, but you could go the other way around.
You could download a lan speed test for your PC and then connect to the IP address of your tablet/connected device and test the speed?
Maybe that will work for you?

Ah now that's thinking outside the box!
Cheers, i'll give it a go.
You need to have some sort of server and an app to download files from that server.
I tested download speed from my nasserver to my Galaxy S2 to compare Wifi G vs Wifi N.
Went from 2.26MB/s on G to 3.66 MB/s on N wifi.
"Filesize / seconds"
My laptop is 10mb/s on same N wifi netowrk.. could be faster but is only 100mbit lan netowork..
Transferring a (large) file from a server to your tablet would measure not only local WiFi speed, but Prime's internal capability of processing and storing data. I just did a quick test downloading a file from my work's Samba server and got speeds of about 0.6 and 2.5 kbytes/s for the Prime and my laptop, respectively. This is in line with kunddizzle, who got laptop speeds about four times faster that from the Prime.
This is interesting. Clearly, WiFi speed is not everything. Prime doesn't seem to be dealing very well with incoming data. Don't know whether it is due to its WiFi receiver, processor, memory, storage or something else. But, at least in two cases reported here, it is slower than a laptop on the same network.

Hi,
I known it's an old thread, but I had the same problem and was not able not find any local wifi speed test application after read a tons of forum. So I've just written an android application that can do that test. Maybe it will be useful for you too.
Just find "wifi speed test" (pzolee) on Google Play.
I am not a big expert in android programming but I tried to do my best
is there a way to boost the wifi receiver to get better signal?
I don't know of any, but you could try an app like Wifi analyzer to see what channel would be best suited and also make sure your router isn't set to a lower dB.
ok ill try that. thanks
Hi everybody,
I'm having problems with my Tablet S when connecting to an OpenWRT wireless router (D-Link DIR-825). Half of all pings are getting lost (it's working for 10 seconds then for 10 seconds no pings are getting answered).
When using browser, i often have to reload page, because it is not allways loading at the first time.
Now I tried to temporarily connect my old Fritz!Box wireless router (on the same network). This is running flawlessly
So my question: Is somebody else running his/her Tablet with an OpenWRT device (with or without problems)? Any suggestions what could be going wrong here?
It's not openwrt, but I'm using a linksys wrt54g with ddwrt (v24-sp2 micro) and only having disconnect issues when large playing videos trought SMB sharing. Everything else is working fine. It's seems to have issues with high loads.
In others routers I didn't get this problem.
I'm also using DD-WRT and no problems at all, even with ICS , if anything I have slightly better reception now
I'm not running OpenWRT, but my custom *nix router is working flawlessly.
Check that you don't have any QoS rules or weird firewall rules set and see if that fixes your problems.
Hey guys I've recently checked that there's a new version 15 of openwrt........so I want some things to be cleared..
1.) Is there any size increment with this version..
2.) Will it be updated over Stone age version(3.8)
Lol...
My router is iBall-baton iB WRA 150 N adsl2+ single band router (best most selling and 30$)...
Ok it is nothing but a clone/rebranded version of TP-Link TP-WR741 and some guy at wrt forums posted mod file but the user is inactive and his links too..... i just wanna know if i am good to go... im over stock firmware.......and main concern is that WILL THAT ROUTER HAVE ENOUGH INTERNAL MEMORY TO FACE AND STORE LATEST WRT VERSION 15.**** ......IM Impatient to try out but is covered with dark cloud of fear of bricking......and if i did such thing, dad will kick me out of the house...seriously..thats why consultancy was the best option i was with....im on stock firmware version 3.0.0 and thats barely 2mb....and the version on site and the factory default version is same.... I'm not sure that is it full or a patch.. but i hope you can answer this question..

Same problem whit Android devices in wifi. I tried Gargoyle, LEDE, Open WRT and DD-WRT
I have TP-Link Archer C7
Any solution?
Hello Enzo, I don't have that router anymore. With new routers the wi-fi problems have gone away...
My Internet speed is roughly 50 down and 5 up. I use a Netgear modem/router (this was the router that worked correctly with all of my demands). I have an iMac that will get the full 50 download speed via wifi. My iPad gets around 30 (not the full 50 but satisfactory)... but my Note 3 is around 1Mbps. Maybe sometimes it'll spike up in speed for a few moments... But it's so inconsistent. I tried using different channels on the router.... No improvement. (the upload speed is fine though. It'll usually be the full 5mbps)
Any ideas on what's going on? Any settings on the router I can try to help improve this? (stock note 3).
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Digital Trends has an article that has some tips on this issue:
Glitch: Wi-Fi issues
Some Note 3 owners are having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi networks, finding that the Wi-Fi is very slow, or that the device keeps dropping the connection. There are a ton of potential reasons for this and consequently there are a ton of potential fixes. Here’s what you can try:
Workaround:
Some people with stability issues have been able to get solid Wi-Fi connections simply by making sure that mobile data is switched off. Just drag down the notification shade and toggle Mobile data off.
Potential solutions:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap Menu > Advanced and then uncheck Auto network switch. That seems to have helped some people.
Try turning off the Note 3 and your router for a few minutes and then turn them both back on again.
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and long press on the problem connection, then tell the device to forget it and set the connection up again from scratch.
Try out the free Wi-fi Analyzer app and see if crowded channels could be the issue. If so then change the channel on your router.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date and check settings like MAC filtering.
If you’re having stability issues then you might try disabling the apps Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Direct Share via Settings > Applications manager on the All tab.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately nothing seemed to of helped.
I do not know how to tell which type of router I have. I can tell you it took many routers to find the right one (NetGear C3700). I went through a bunch of Time Warner crap and several from Best Buy......even Motorola's flagship modem/router. It needed to do the following:
Provide open NAT type for Xbox live
Allow my Android device to recognize the Xbox One as a device on my network (pics, vids & music through the console)
Allow Android Youtube app to communicate with the Xbox One Youtube app.
Allow proper connection to my iMac via Wifi (One of Time Warner routers would not work with my iMac)
My BT and Wifi havent worked the same since the KitKat update - Thanks again

Man that sucks, I had serious issues with 4.3. since KK I've been rocks solid with WiFi,
You might try to old factory reset (which sucks I know) just backup first so if there is no change you can restore easy enough.
What ROM are you running? Stock?
Set your wireless channel away from everyone elses. There is a setting where you can just set it to just 802.11N save it. Try setting your wifi port to static for your device. Check your wifi settings on your device. Make sure your using the same channel on your device as for the router.
Sent from my SM-G900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've already tried a factory reset since the KK update (for Bluetooth issues). No help.
The phone is stock.
I've tried changing around the channels a little bit with no success so far. How can I change the channel on the device? How do I set the port to static for my device?
Thanks
