I have run a search and surprisingly did not find my particular question..
How do I make a backup (image?) of my phone as it stands now...
I flashed a rom, everything is working to my liking and have backed up all my apps and settings via TB.
Is it possible to have a backup sitting on my PC that I can just flash with Odin or CWM that will restore my phone to how it is right now? Similar to a PC image?
Thanks in advance!

Just make a nandroid backup using cwm and copy those backup files located in "clockworkmod " folder in SD card to your PC. Whenever you need to restore it back just copy back the files to.the same location and restore it via cwm.

Yes, if he's using AmonRA
If he's using Clockworkmod the recovery is in /clockworkmod/creation date
I think it's best to restore the nand backup with the recovery that it was backed up with..

Stop trying to restore backups made with CWM via AmonRA and vice versa and you will not have any issues. Moving the files will not do any good, simply flash the recovery you have used for backup you want to restore.
Yeah I knw I used clockworkmod for backup nd I'm also using the same for restore.. actually I moved my backup image to my PC to Save space on SD card now I moved it back to restore but it wasn't working.. now I knw wht i did wrong . I put them inside nandroid folder.. but I should have used clockworkmod. Thanks for everybody's Help I will try again later with my backup.

File must be in there :sdcard/clockworkmod (something like that) /date of creation. It as to be same folder as clockworkmod made when you did your backup. Happended to me at my first restore. copy my date of creation file in a clockworkmod folder on the root of sdcard and it works fine
i am new to all this but managed to flash kh3 and root it.
i paid for the pro version of titanium and backed up everything on my galaxy s2 but it backs up to SD. isnt this the internal sd storage and thus would wipe when flashed with another firmware?? i looked into the CWM that came with the firmware but this is just a recovery console isnt it?
i guess i need some guidance of how to properly backup but maybe i want too much. i really was thinking along the lines of a ghost image of everything even things like APN settings etc.
any help appreciated guys.
The sd card isn't wiped when you install any other firmware.
The recovery console has a backup/restore feature, it makes an image of the firmware and software that's installed on the phone.
when i clicked the backup part of cwm it took me to the recovery console where it had factory reset, wipe partition ( or whatever it said) etc etc, i didnt then see it do a backup?
cheers mate

Sounds like you only have Recovery console & not CWM. If you had CWM, you would see tons of options.
I always have a backup of my current ROM in CWM it's absolutely essential in case things go wrong which they have on occasions, i also back up my apps weekly witt Titanium Backup and delete the previous backup.

Which kernel are you using?
kh3 from intratech's thread.
i downloaded rom manger and did the top option to get the latest cwm i think but when i tried to backup it errored and i had to press home to restart??
I just use titanium, backup all my apps to external sd card.
Format phone or install a new rom, and just restore all apps with 1-click via titanium.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but what the heck.
I have Titanium backup and it backs up to Dropbox. Now if I Flash a new ROM, how do I go about restoring the backup?
In WinMo I have a backup program that created a zipped up file of backups and a small exe file that unpacked and restored the files (complete restore, ROM upgrade restore, etc).
Should use both!

Batch restore.
Left button at the bottom of your phone > batch
Restore all from there.
If you set your folder location to an external sd card, you can format or install a new rom and your apps wont be touched. You can do a batch restore of all your apps from within titanium.

Well that's your problem, your using a stock kernel, use cf-roots kernel that has cwm already built in.
cheers guys
Combine titanium media sync with titanium backup and you are sorted.
I have set automatic backup once a week, all is then synced via dropbox when i connect my phone on charger. This way I also backup all the pics and videos I take.
One thing I was wondering is there anyway to have titanium and premiere key backed up initself....in the sense that whenever I restore I always have to go to market get the key and the titanium app then started restoring...maybe I could go to my storage install them from there then reinstall instead off faffing with the market?
apologies if this is a silly question
I have the key on my external sd card .

What's the difference between doing a NANDROID backup and having a copy of the stock rom on your PC to flash via ODIN? I went from stock to CM7 without making a backup and instead got a copy of the stock on my pc.
i'am a n00b here......
but i think nandroid backup is save EVERYTHING on the internal memory......
including installed apps, contact, message......

I think the same too.
NANDROID backup backups everything on your internal memory, you apps, settings, data, your rom, everything.By telling having a copy of the rom on your PC,I think you mean that you have a copy of the firmware on your PC.Its not the same at all, where is the data and all your apps?NANDROID can do that
Or you could take individual copies of all of your apps and setting using titanium backup.

Thanked for the info. And yeah, I have a copy of the firmware on the PC and all my apps and settings backed up by Titanium. So I'm guessing I should make a back up as soon as I get back to my stock rom just in case, right? And what if I decide to make a copy of the CM7 I'm using now instead of the stock rom? Does it work the same?

Hey can I use dragonzkiller's bootstrap to restore a nandroid backup I did before flashing CM7? There is an app with data in it I need to get to. I tried backing it up, but now in CM7 it won't find the backup file to restore even if I put it in the folder with it. The nandroid is for rooted 2.3.4 stock.

First off, everything that is nandroided goes in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup (depending on whether you stored it on the external sdcard).
If you put it on the internal, then it would be in /emmc/clockworkmod/backup
If you just want the one app, you can use Titanium Backup to extract it from the nandroid backup. I think you have to have the pro version though.
There are some free programs that will extract from a nandroid backup. App Extractor is a free app that will do this as well. You can get it at the Android Market at https://market.android.com/details?...wxLDEsImNvbS5oYW5keWFuZHkuYXBwZXh0cmFjdG9yIl0.

You can use titanium pro (paid version) to restore an app with data. I did this successfully but did have one problem. After restoring, the app would not run. I moved it from sd card to internal and back to sdcard and it's worked perfectly.

Glad it worked for you. I didn't want to see you have to nandroid it all back to get it for just one app.
AppExtractor and TiBu have saved me more than once.
Sup guys,
I got a little problem here, I want to have my old back up back cause my agenda/calendar is there. I need it badly before this friday so I thought i'll restore the back up with CWM. At the end of the restore progress I get an error.
Error restoring /data. So I tried the next:
- Deleted dalvic-cache of the backup.
- Installed 4.1.2 back again and tried restoring
- Used same CWM version with back up and restore.
Would you guys help me outta here, I really need that google agenda (all things were saved on the phone, not online. )
Thx
Did you update to 4.3 then restore a nandroid from 4.1? If so then then the internal sd card mounting may be your issue, try formatting the internal sd before restore.
Or use titanium backup/philz recovery to restore just the files you need from the backup, instead of the whole thing. If you you had used Google agenda then it would all be saved in your account.
Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. And yes, I tried also to restore the backup from 4.3 but it didn't work. So I went back to 4.1.2 and neither that worked.
About the philz recovery. With which one can I restore just the files I need? THat would be great.

ANd yes I didn't save it online, but saved on my phone. With the thought aahh I already made a back up of everything so no problem.
alternative:
you could try the app "nandroid manager". it is able to browse through your nandroid backups and to restore single apps together with their data.
