Usually they'll have a "settings" button somewhere on the main screen. It looks like a group of sliders. (Or click your menu button?)

Hi.
I have been searching around the forums, and found only mod that allow this on HTC devices. I want to turn/wake my phone up by pressing volume button. is that possible?
I have tried nolock app, but it's not consistently working.
ps. I am on stock rom (rooted).
Thank you very much.
Use miui.. I think it has that kind of mod..

yeah. thank you.
but could i put it in stock firmware or some custom firmware by myself?
is it very complicated to do so?
thank you.
Just for future reference, questions go in the Q&A section, not general.
If you get widgetlocker, it can enable any button wake.

To get Fast Capture feature from Xperia NXT,you have to do one simple thing:
Using Root Explorer (first set Mount R/W),go to System->usr->keylayout->pm8058-keypad.kl,select "Open in Text Editor",and add "WAKE_DROPPED" after "key 212 CAMERA",and after "key 528 FOCUS" That's it,now from standby mode, your phone will be ready to make a capture in 1 second.
This isn't exactly fast capture right?

Agreed, put in Q&A.
YEAH, it's Q&A, not DEV
lol not everything is kernel related..
Edit /system/usr/keylayout/clearpad.kl. Add # before each h/w button you want to disable, to disable all:
# key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
# key 102 HOME VIRTUAL
# key 158 BACK VIRTUAL

Save file and reboot. Remember to take a backup of clerpad.kl.
I dont get how this is not a question related to dev but im sorry anyways..

This isn't the Q&A section. It is reserved for developers to post developments and current projects (hence the section name)
You aren't a developer, you aren't posting a development or firmware or anything. You are asking a question...soooo...it should go in the Q&A section. Get it now?

Do you know the key for settings or other keys ?
You can set a key for search button, simply replace one value to SEARCH. It is also possible to remap a button to recent apps function, but that requires changes to source code I believe..

No,of course not.But you can't ask"Which is the best Kernel/ROM?" or " Which ROM do you recommend".It's against the rules.
Some of you may or may not know, but Google released their own keyboard app for Android users to download:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin
Think it'll be something we'll start seeing in AOSP ROMs instead of the other keyboard that's comes with AOSP ROMs? Since this is an official release from Google and stuff.

Looks and feel like the AOSP keyboard except for the fact that this is officially supported by Google, which means updates by them and possibly new features down the line.
I prefer AOSP for things like the keyboard. Using it right now and I really like it so far, my accuracy seems very good and everything just flows. Plus I look forwards to the updates and support!
I really like that they added the long press duration option so desperately needed on keyboards like swype, but I wish they would give us the option of having symbols over the keys which would make the long press option more effective. Still, is pretty good!

Could you elaborate a little? Because I think what you're referring to is available, just long press the period and you'll have a list of symbols. And for letter symbols like á just long press the letter a.
I love aosp ROM's but Samsung is the only one that has swipe on their one handed keyboard.

I think I understand what you're saying... kind of like the swiftkey style keyboard? I reall like that option. Another option I would like to see would be resizable keys as you see in swiftkey.

I mean having the symbols displayed on the letter keys such that when you long press a letter, it's secondary function is to input the symbol displayed as the keys superscript. For example on Swype and SwiftKey you have 'a' and its superscript is the '@' symbol. When you press a, it inputs a and when you long press a, it inputs @.

It can get confusing and it'll get confusing once I dive into why it's confusing. Plus this wouldn't go in general anyways It would go into Version Samsung Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps section or just delete it. Or we can ask a moderator for assistance with the issue.

If you like the look and feel of a stock android keyboard, then yes.
Is there a way to have the keyboard not showing that ugly blank writing box when on landscape mode?
This keyboard is superb, if it wasn't for that minor gripe.
