[Q] Android Market Crashes - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an LG GT540 since September, but recently I tried to root it and had success
But now, when I'm trying to open Android Market it crash and i can't download any app from ther market
What I have to do to fix that?

Try replacing the current Google Play Store with the latest version!
You can Download from here!

I canĀ“t install it... maybe it is because my android version is 2.1
Do you know any other way to fixa that problem?

Yes, Google Play requires Froyo 2.2 or higher. I'm not sure what the last version for 2.1 is, but you could try clearing Market data and possibly uninstalling updates. This should force it to download the latest version.

But I have already made a hard reset and the problem continues :S

Can you tell what version of market is installed on your device?

[Q] Market has uninstalled itself?

Just went to look for an app and my Market seems to have stopped working. The icon has changed and when I try to open it I get an error saying "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone".
I was using the 2.2 Market (from Modaco) and have just tried to install it again but upon trying I get an error saying "Application Not Installed".
The only thing I've done to the phone since last night when it was woking properly was try the BFS version of Flykernal-11c (I was running the non BFS version).
I also use AppBrain but I can't see how that would have broken it.
Maybe Google have somehow stopped 2.2 Market from running on run on 2.1 ROMs?
Anyway, does anyone how can I get the old Market back without restoring from a Nandroid back-up or flashing the ROM again? Is there a 2.1 Market apk available?
Thanks,
Lee

Yeah, I'll see if I can find an earlier version somewhere.
I can figure out most problems myself but I must admit, this one has me stumped!
Not having much luck so I'm restoring from Nandroid.
Hopefully there's only a few things I'll have to reinstall... but AppBrain will help there
I'll report back about the Market issue.
All working now. Only have 4 apps to re-install and 3 phone numbers to change. No biggie, but pity there wasn't an easier way to fix it.

Market can't download????

Guys! Anyone having issues with downloading of apps in the market? I can't seem to download or update my apps in the market! I'm on CM7 beta 6.2.
Try to uninstall market updates and let the market update again. But give it some time to finish the update properly.
If this did not work I recommend doing a factory reset, and then open the wifi and the market. Do not download anything for few minutes. Let the market get updated approperiately. Then close it an open it again and try to download stuff.
I think your issue is with the market update. It happened to me once when I flashed a new KDZ Rom.

Oh yeah! Problem solved! Flashed the gapps again and let the market rest for a good 6++ hours and now everything is ok!

Updating Non Market Apps

Downloaded an apk pack from the interweb and installed a few apps.
Loaded it up via pc and then clicked on file and it installed. When I go into the market its saying I don't have this app installed? I also installed a game and under settings this appears but not the app?
Is there a way of updating this app as cannot update it via market ? Tried the non paid version of Titanium back up but no use. From searching read Trackdog app. maybe able to do this. Anyone confirm
Is there a way or is the market such it wont let it update?
I was gonna ask same question
I don't think there's any solution for what you are asking. But you can try this: install AppBrain App Market from the market. This app will show all your installed apps, no matter if you installed them straight from the market or other sources. There's an option to sync the apps with AppBrain and if a newer version of your installed apps comes out on the market it will prompt you to update. Obviously, you won't be able to update the apps straight from the market (if they were installed from other sources), but at least you will know there's a new version of the app in the market and then you can try to get the new version from alternate sources. I use this app for Google Plus and some other apps from the market which are not available for my country. This isn't a solution, merely an intermediate step to find out if your apps need to be updated I think Trackdog does exactly the same thing as AppBrain.

Updating to New Market 3.4.4

I'm currently running Froyo with fission 2.5.7. Everytime android releases a new market update and I go to update, it always fails. I've tried clearing cache and data on the market app, restarting the phone, downloading the .apk from a different mirror but none of that seems to work. Any ideas?

[Q] x10 mini (not rooted) with Android 2.1 will not update market or any apps

I'm using a Sony Ericsson X10 mini (not rooted) that still suffices quite ok. However, after a while it tends to become slow. What I periodically do to make the device again a bit faster is reinstall the original firmware using Sony PC Companion. This re-installs the latest available firmware for the X10 mini, being 2.1-update1 (kernel version 2.1.1.A.0.6).
The last time I reinstalled the firmware I ran into an issue. After the installation I got to work installing a few apps. I noticed that all the apps that I install keep showing up in the market as "Installing", even though they are already installed and working properly. Switching the device off and on doesn't help. Also clearing the cache of Android Market did not resolve this. All these apps remain showing as "installing" in the market app.
I also noticed that the version of Android Market that I currently have is not the version of Android Market that I had before reinstalling the firmware. As far as I know, Google Play is not available on Android 2.1, but I definitely remember that I had a newer version of Android Market installed on Android 2.1 than the one that is installed now. From previous re-installations I remember that the device at some point would mention that Android Market needs to be updated. The same goes for some of the pre-installed apps such as Facebook and Google Maps. However, this time it does not give such a message at all. Opening Android Market also does not trigger any update at all. Also going into the settings and looking for updates does not trigger any update. Is there any way to force android to update the market and the pre-installed apps?
When I open Android Market and look in the "Downloads" section, it shows a list of all the apps that I had installed on the device previously. When I check play.google.com on my PC, it lists the same apps, but they show as "installed" on my phone. Even though I have not installed them yet. And I cannot find any way to remove these apps from the "My Apps" section on play.google.com. Could this be interfering with the android market app on my phone?
Is there any way to trigger Android to update the Android market and the other pre-installed apps? I'm very hesitant to go and root the device, that still appears to me as a lot of work. Especially since I know that it used to work correctly previously.
A small update in case somebody in the future encounters the same problem:
To find out whether it really is my Google account that interferes, I have opened a completely new Gmail account, and used that when setting up the phone after the firmware re-installation. And lo and behold: within a few minutes after the initial setup of the phone, the market application was suddenly replaced with version 2.3.6. No notification whatsoever, it was just suddenly there. I don't know the version number of the old Market app that I had. Somehow, the version numbering that is used in the application manager is different than the "2.3.6" formatting. The version number that is shown in settings>application manager went from 2002009. to 2002306.
Having the updated Market app, I wanted to relink the phone with my normal Gmail account. However, I found that apparently, you can only sync with a different Gmail account by resetting the entire phone, so that I have the original problem again. But at least the fact that the Market app updated itself allowed me to copy the updated market .apk file so that I could manually update the market after reinstalling the firmware. And having installed the new Market app, it also recognized the pre-installed aps such as Google Maps.
It should have been possible to delete your new gmail account in th settings app and add your old one. Failing that, doing a factory reset would have deleted all the user-data but still have kept the updated market-app.
