[Q] Clockwork Recovery Mod for galaxy ace - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Actually I wanted to ask how does the clockwork recovery mod work. When we try to install some ROM's using the stock recovery, then it fails but using cwm it magically works and installs it. Can anyone actually explain its working????

just guessing. root access and root script supported on the recovery?

Clockwork is not the recommended process for this, goto the dev forums and checkout the sticky regarding clockwork. I would recommend using Amons recovery with the one click root method.

I've been using ROM Manager and Clockwork Mod for many months without a hitch.
From Amon RA, flash update.zip which is already on your SD card. ROM Manager puts that there, and it takes you into Clockwork Mod Recovery. This update.zip is always temporary, it doesn't permanently overwrite anything , but it's a good thing because now you have the best of both worlds. Amon RA and Clockwork Mod.
Any questions?

There's your problem, rom manager can't install a recovery on a stock kernel, personally i wouldn't use rom manager at all. Just flash a cf-root kernel for your firmware and boot into recovery manually.
Thanks, i've done that and it works perfectly.
but then using cwm i've installed villain rom 3.0.
it's a good rom etc
but it seems like i havent got root after installing it.
none of the apps from market using root permission work.
for example chainfire 3D says i dont have root.
Any explanation for that?
Install Superuser from Market does say this in thread.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace not booting as trying to re-install custom rom

Hi Users,
I installed the custom rom ******JELLY BLAST successfully on my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i but after few days I noticed some performance issues. For this, I tried re-installing another custom rom on my phone but as I used the recovery manager during boot to load the custom rom from SD card, none of the custom roms are getting installed.
Now my phone is *only* booting in the recovery mode but it is not installing any rom which I select through SD card. (Looks like some permission issues to the /system folder in android.
If someone can please suggest me any recovery steps, it would be great. I dont want my phone to be sitting with the service center folks for no reason but I want to recover it on my own.
Is there any way I can use any custom rom or a *.exe which I can use to install it from SD card which will overcome the permission issue and then install the custom rom without any issue. Note: The phone is only booting to the default Andoid Recovery mode but not to the ClockWorkMOD recovery.
Thanks in advance!
Taz~
are you able to flash cwm through default recovery in order to get to apply new rom through cwm?

All you have to do is reflash the stock rom back using odin, root your device first and then install CWM. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares and drivers (check the "Preparations" section),
Flash stock rom on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 using odin
Once installed, go to recoverymod and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,

What CWM version do you flash? Always make sure the zip you flash is for galaxy ace or the code name cooper
CWM manager need root. But, CWM recovery doesn't need root.

[Q] Cannot access CWM Recovery options on Galaxy S4

I installed CWM using Rom Manager, and every time I reboot into recovery mode, I am presented with the stock recovery options. How do I access the CWM recovery options so I can fully backup my phone? BTW I plan to eventually install Cyanogen Mod after I do this, is there any risk installing it through ROM Toolbox Lite?
