[Q] Want To root My Htc evo 3d - HTC EVO 3D

I want to root my htc evo 3d with HBOOT 1.49.0009 and unlocked bootloader so pls help me to root my device

Head over to HTC dev and sign up after that read the instruction and then began the unlocking of your bootloader and after your done with that you need to install a custom recovery preferably revaluationary and once that is done you need to install the Su files this what you need to gain root better known as super user and once your done with that guess what your phone is rooted and then boot the phone into recovery and back it up incase something go's wrong once the back up is done reboot the Evo 3D and flash Lee's ROM and if every thing go's well now you began the down grading of your hboot from 1.49.009 to 1.49.008 or 1.49.007 it is a post in the development section that will have all the radio's and the ruu's files and look for files that has the hboot number's as stated above and this file should be placed in the root folder of your sd card and then boot into bootloader and let it find the file and oh buy the way make sure the file says PG86IMG.zip when it finds the file it will ask you would you like to update press vol up for yes and set back and let it do its thing when it is finished it will reboot and your done and you will have hboot 1.49.007 or 1.49.008 depending on which ruu file you downloaded and now your ready alpharevolutionary.io and this is where you go to s-off the Evo 3D please read very carefully before doing any of this oh and one other thing have a note pad be side you and write down every single step because you will be doing again sometime in the future and it will help someone els that may need it good luck

[Q] Evo 3D (GSM) rooting @ HBoot 1.49.0018

HeyHou,
I'm very new to this forum ( this is my 1st post ), but i had visited this forum many times before...
now i have a problem: last week i bought a evo 3d gsm from amazon...
i unlocked the bottloader with the htc unlock methid - everything fine...
then i tried to "root" it but it didnt work... ( i'm very new and i only know how to jailbreak iphones, lol) - i followed this two toturials, bot none worked:
Code:

==>I have no acces to mmcblk0p31.img
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316578
==> it simply doesn't work, lol
photo in attachment.
Can anyone help me..?
I have exactly the same problem dude...
I found a solution for my problem, maybe it can help you aswell?
My goal was to have a rooted EVO 3D with LeeDroid's Custom ROM on it.
1.) Use HTC Super Tool v3 to root your phone! (Just follow the on-screen steps)
2.) Download Rom Manager from the market and install CWM Recovery
3.) Now you can flash a custom ROM on your device
---------------------------------------------------------------
You still have have the same Hboot version and S-on (I tried to attempt S-Off with super tool, but i got an error message)
but your phone is rooted and you have CWM on it!
Guys guys download the ruu from the stickies in dev forum for your device run it will downgrade your bootloader to 1.49.007 then root with HTC supertool then allowing you to unlock bootloader with rev rather than htcdev so you can lock it again without the relock sign means if you want to go back to stock re run ruu takes out cwm then take the ota update back to stock locked bootloader not relocked did post a thread about this but as usual I just get ingnored

I downloaded this file "PG86IMG" than I put it on my sd-card and I tried to install it with hboot. No change at all, maybe I have to relock the bootloader?
Or is there another way to "install" the RUU?

[Q] Help! How do i root My HTC EVO 3D

I have Looked around, and i tried to follow n-God i think it was and it didnt work, i have searched and tried different tutorials or techniques, my problem is that i have to unlock my HTC EVO 3D which i have done using the official HTC unlock website, and now i have to downgrade, to hboot 1.49.0007/8 because i am on 1.49.0018, i know what to do after i downgrade ( use revolution ) but i just cant get it to downgrade, it is a uk phone so its GSM and EMEA i think, so can someone post a step by step with links or a video thanks
I don't have an idea but take a look at the stickies in the gsm section of the EVO 3D and then if nothing look in general. And most of all read everything.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Hi firstly I'm a complete noob too. I'm in exactly the same situation as you. A UK gsm with .018 hboot only reason I have not tried the downgrade yet is my phone is still away for repair. Anyway from what I understand from that guide is you bypass the first 3 steps as you and I don't need to change cid as we got European phones hence the correct cid. And it does day make sure you relock your bootloader if its unlocked. (step 3) and I think it has to say locked and not relocked. I hope this is of some help as I said I'm a complete novice and will be following the guide when my phone returns so let me know if it works and if someone points out anything I've said is wrong I apologise I'm just trying to help

This is how i s-offed mine, i put together a quick guide for a different forum:
- it is for GSM european phones with the required CID already.
You can check your cid with : fastboot getvar cid
1. Follow this guide from point 4 as our CID is already as required. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316578
2. Use this tool to s-off and install clockwork mod. http://revolutionary.io/
3. Then roms can be installed via clockwork mod and/or the stock rom can be rooted. see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680

Hello well lets see ok good you have completed step one now step two you need to install a custom recovery i like cwmr_Revolutionary_4.0.1.4.img custom recovery is a good one and it has the least problem's and step three you will need to flash the su -2.3.6.3-efgh-signed this is what give's you root access you will have to flash this using you pc via comand promts and after this you now have a rooted devise i would sugest flashing lee droid rom for starter's and next when your ready to down grade the Hboot you will have go to the threads and you will see file's that say ruu this is what you need to down grade and you will also want the one that say's Hboot 1.49.007 or 1.49.008 download any of the two and after you have downloaded copy and past it in root folder of sd card and may have to rename it you can do this part on the evo using es file explore make sure it says PG86IMG.zip even if says PG86IMG.zip i want you to rename it anyway why because windows hide's the file ext so it will read like this PG86IMG.zip.zip if you see this all you have do is delete that second .zip at the end now thats done your ready for the down grade copy and past the PG86IMG.zip file in the root folder of your sd card ok now battery pull now put battery back in press volume down power and dont let go until it boot's in to bootloader now let find the zip then it will say start update you press volume up for yes now sit back and let it do the update and when its done it will reboot and now you have Hboot 1.49.007 now your ready to s off head on over to alpharevolutionary.io

was super difficult to read, and you probably need to add punctuations
EDIT : Reason : Punctuations ?
You need to flash older Stock ROM in signed PG86IMG.zip, which includes HBOOT 1.49.0007. Then you are able to root your phone using revolutionary. But i recommend you to get either CWM4 or 4EXT recovery, which don't have charge bugs.
You dont need to use HTC's method since you are on .018
Get a PG86IMG.zip and use that to downgrade Hboot to .07/.08
After which use revolutionary to s-off and flash a recovery.
Make a nand backup
and get flashing
Im trying to look for the tutorial i used where all the links are, ill edit once i find it sorry
Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316578 ; use this to downgrade Hboot, and because its a European phone, you dont need to change CID so basically start from step 4

Is this what your looking for. As usual we here at The Root are not to be held responsible for what you do to your phone or should something go horribly wrong and you turn your pretty 3D into a paperweight. Make sure you read and understand everything below before you start the process.
Unfortunately, many of us that purchased an Evo 3D phone recently (after Sep 2011) got the preloaded HTC Hboot 1.50 version. Sadly, if you have this version the preferred method of attaining full root with S-Off doesn’t work. According to the developers of the preferred rooting tool Revolutionary (http://revolutionary.io/), HTC patched the previous S-off exploit with this new Hboot version. Therefore, they are working hard on finding another way for full root with 1.50 but they have stated that it will probably be awhile before release.
You can however still unlock the bootloader using HTC’s method and flash any custom ROM/kernels just like those with S-off on their 3Ds. It just requires some additional steps.
I compiled a guide from various sources but changed it to include the new superuser version and the TWRP recovery rather than CWM. This also includes steps on getting my favorite ROM VaelPak up and running after you achieve S-on root. Hopefully this will save you all hours of searching and headaches.
Again, I didn’t create the rooting process or steps, I simply compiled various instructions and links into a one stop location here. I jump back and fourth between my below guide and zedomax’s guides so I hope its not confusing.
Here we go… the following is my experience and the steps I performed the first day I got the 3D:
ROOTING (Unlocking the 3D via HTC’s method)
1. Unbox and turn on the phone. Play around with it to make sure it is working well. Go into settings, power, and UN-CHECK fastboot. 2. Shut down the phone and then pulled the battery for good measure. 3. Hold the volume down and power button for 10 seconds. This should get you into a white menu that shows your the Hboot version. If you have anything pre-Hboot 1.50 than you are lucky and are able to perform a FULL S-off root with this tool: http://revolutionary.io/ Follow their steps exactly as they list them. If your Hboot version is 1.50, then continue on… 4. Vaelek sent me the following link that includes zedomax’s guide with video which I watched and followed word for word. Open this link then come back here to perform steps 5 through 9 before starting zedomax’s process. http://htcevohacks.c…-unlock-method/5. First thing you want to do from this link is download the rootevo3dnew.zip located in step 1 of the instructions. Here is the direct link if you can’t find it: http://downloadandro…ootevo3dnew.zip 6. Next, create a folder on your desktop (I assume you are on windows) and call it the same as the zip file, rootevo3dnew 7. Extract the zip file to the new folder you created on the desktop. The video shows this but you can go ahead and do this now before you get started. 8. Before starting the video and steps, if you want TWRP instead of CWM then download the modified TWRP recovery img file located in this post: http://forum.xda-dev… 3&postcount=223 . Put that downloaded .img file in the same folder on your desktop that you extracted the rootevo3dnew.zip in. The folder you created called rootevo3dnew. 9. Next, the superuser zip file that came with the rootevo3dnew.zip and is used in zedomax’s step 21 is an older version (2.3.6.3). Download the newer 3.0 version. You’ll use it later in steps 21 and 22 of zedomax’s guide. The zip file can be found here: http://downloads.and…efgh-signed.zip Again, once you download it, put the .zip file (do not extract it) into the rootevo3dnew folder. 10. Start the video and follow the steps that zedomax walks you through until you reach step 18 of his guide. 11. Modified step 18: a. To use TWRP recovery rather than CWM, type this instead of what is shown on zedomax’s instructions: fastboot flash recovery twrp-1.0.3-modified.img b. This is the file you downloaded above. Remember, this has to be in the rootevo3dnew folder to work. 12. Continue on to step 21 of zedomax’s guide. 13. Modified step 21 & 22: a. To install the latest Superuser version, use the .zip file you downloaded earlier rather than the one that came in zedomax’s rootevo3dnew.zip. b. The file you will move to your SD and flash in zedomax’s step 22 is called su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip 14. Finish up with step 23! Once you reboot, download Titanium Backup and open it to confirm you have root access. You might also want to verify that the superuser app is now available in your app drawer. If it is, open it and then navigate to preferences and check for updates. Lastly, if this achieved root for you then please go back to zedomax’s guide and thank him!
FLASHING ROMS & KERNELS
If you want to flash VaelPak or other custom ROMs, you must boot into recovery through fastboot. Apparently fastbooting into recovery allows you write access to certain partitions contained in the phone. S-off roots (Hboot 1.40 or lower) don’t have to worry about this. Hopefully the unrevoked team can find a new exploit with Hboot 1.50 in the near future so we don’t have to be next to a computer to flash roms and kernels. I’ve read that some user can wipe and flash roms without going through fastboot. However, if you are near your computer and want to good flash, I highly recommend booting recovery through fastboot.

My phone was as the OP's when i got it (ASDA few weeks a go)
I just used this tut to get it to s-off..
basically install evo drivers to pc, put PG86IMG.zip file on sd card, let the phone downgrade automatically in the h-boot, the use the revolution programme to s-off and install a CMW.
I think this method works if your cid is 001 (use cid getter from market to check), no need for htc-unlock or anything

[Q] Not a Noob but could use some help with pg86img on hboot 1.50 S-on

I've been doing this **** for well over 2 yrs now and im either having a serious brain fart of perhaps this hasn't been entirely, exactly discussed yet .... I have googled til the cows come home and can't find an answer.
Im on hboot 1.50 with S-on bootloader is unlocked through HTC Dev
I want to flash the new i.c.s. PG86IMG.zip that Freeza (the one without the new 1.57 hboot) just put out to go along with the ICS ruu that Virtuous has put out however I know that I cannot just put the pg86img on my sd card and flash it by holding down the - volume button and power through bootloader....
MUST i relock my bootloader, ruu it back to stock and then go about it doing that way OR is there a way that I can use commands to flash the PG86IMG.zip file?????
Help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I just relocked my bootloader, RUU'd it back so now I have a relocked bootloader, with hboot 1.50 S-on and when I take my battery out, put it back in- hold down vol down while pressing power....then it scans and finds the pg86img.zip but it does not offer me a chance to install the pg86img I'd REALLY appreciate some input here. Thanks.
I was too lazy/tired to downgrade so I just wiped and flashed just to see what would happen and it worked. After it booted, it was stuck on the HTC setup so I pulled the battery and rebooted it. I'm on Hboot 1.50 with S-ON.
I cannot for the life of me get the PG86IMG.zip file flashed.... i've PM'd a few different dev's but heard nothing back yet.
Man you should have atleast unlocked your bootloader first see if you can boot in to boatloader and fastboot USB if so then you can correct the problem
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
And no you don't need to relock to install a ruu if your unlocked when you run the ruu it will relock it for you

Did you check the sticky and find football thread and you will need to download the the original ruu or close to it and you may get lucky and find one that will give you hboot 1.4 if this is what your after

did you flash in hboot or through recovery?
did it re-lock your phone?
Question is your boatloader locked

You will have to unlock your boatloader again through HTC dev if you still have the unlock token then you don't have to redownload it just use the one you have see if that works

This is such an annoying issue. I can run an ruu.exe such as RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00.1216_NV_NV_spcs_1.42_release_233304_signed_2.exe and go back to stock without any problems, I can unlock my bootloader, I can "root" the phone, even though I am on hboot 1.50 with S-ON the problem is no matter how many ways I try to flash
PG86IMG_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.13.652.1_Radio_1.06.00.0426_NV_1.53_144_release_259069_signed.zip that Football sent me, I cannot get it install it after it scans and finds it -renamed to PG86IMG (.zip) it always goes back to hboot and says:
CID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot.
If it was me I would just root
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
Depending upon which DEV i've spoken to, i've been told to try this that and the other and lol nothing works. I dont get it. I've been told to go back entirely to stock unrooted; that didn't work. Been told to root it, that didn't work.
I never had any problems flashing roms using htc dumlock but the problem is, the file I am trying to flash is not one that can be flashed through CWM/TWRP, only by being renamed PG86IMG and being started through hboot.
any other suggestions? hell i'll try em all!
I would go back to stock and start from scratch
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
LOL im back to stock started from scratch and nada.
i'll end up most likely having to wait, like everyone else for the .exe file to be released
cid incorrect
oh and you need to change your cid number to HTC__001 and it will work
With HTC unlock, you cant flash radios (freeza's zip) & splash screens that are part of those custom PG86IMG zips. The only way to flash an Ruu is to have stock recovery/relocked and to flash the same or newer fw version (2.08, 2.17, etc).
I'm not 100% sure but the ics leak version is 1.13 which may not pass the version check.
I've read some posts that indicate an hboot 1.4 downgrade for S-off is required as things sit right now. Definitely changing daily though.

To further reiterate, S-ON means you do not have permissions to certain partition of the phone to flash radios, or flash kernels/roms without the 1.5 fastboot workarounds. The firmware freeza has, requires access to that certain partition. So without s-off (1.4) you cannot flash the firmware/radio for ICS.

Update just my bootloader...

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I first rooted my evo 3d with revolutionary.
I currently have:
HBOOT 1.40.1000
I am trying to install the new CM 10.1 and need to update my bootloader to match, as the author states he hasn't made a version for this bootloader.
For the life of me I don't even know where to stat to just update my bootloader, and I don't want to take it to 1.58... what route should I travel here?
The hboot file should be in one of the rooting threads or maybe in Leslie Ann's guide to turning your EVO 4G into a 3D. If I remember correctly its just a .zip file you put in the root of your sdcard, boot I to the boot loader and it installs the specific boot loader version.

I guess cm10.1 should work on that hboot .
EDIT : I see you edited it yourself.
