Hello Everyone!
I took frysee & Krisprolls work and updated a few details and dates and reworked the last part (Android logo).
Now the bootanimation consists of three parts: The BIOS animation, the Android logo fade in and the Android logo lighting (this one loops for 10 times*)
This is what it looks like now (slowed down a little bit from the real thing):

Installation instructions:
Download bootanimation_BIOS_Defy-signed-SLOW7.zip (slower version) or bootanimation_BIOS_Defy-signed-FAST12.zip (faster version) [/B] and place it somewhere on the SD Card.
Boot into Recovery Mode and select [Latest Recovery]
Select Install zip from SD Card and select the downloaded zip from the SD Card
Confirm, go back to the previous menu and reboot (no wipe cache/dalvik needed)
If you want to increase/decrease the speed of the animation:
Unzip the package and navigate to "system/media" (optional: delete the zip)
Unzip bootanimation.zip (optional: delete the zip)
Open with any text editor (like Notepad) the file desc.txt
Edit the last number of the first line. A bigger number will make the animation go faster and a smaller number will make it go slower
Re-zip all the files as bootanimation.zip (DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE ZIP FILE)
Go back to folders (you should have META-INF & system)
Re-zip these two folders with any name you want
Follow "Installation Instructions" above
I'm also attaching the source PSD (Photoshop CS 5.5) files so you can modify it to your own liking! It uses the Fixedsys font which should be included in every Windows version, but just in case, you can get it from here (its a free font).
If you wish to create your own version I suggest you downloading the following programs:
Boot Animation Creator by despotovski01
Boot Animation Previewer by despotovski01
Obviously, an image editing software (I used Photoshop)
These are the values I used for Boot Animation Creator:
480x800, 12fps
folder part0, 1 loop, 75ms delay
folder part1, 1 loop, 50ms delay
folder part3, 10 loops, 50ms delay
EDIT: The slower version was updated to install properly in CWM.
Hope you enjoy it!
Wow..that looks grt.. thanks..
Ohh it is too fast man.. make it slow. Ofcourse if possible.

The good thing is that I included the full sources so you can adjust it to your settings! The even better thing is that I made a slower version as well (original post updated)
Can you please create a version for CM9 that includes 4.0.3?
I would create it, but I currently don't have any time
Updated the first post with a guide on how slow down or speed up the animation to suit your needs. Also updated the slow version to work properly via CWM.
Nice, thanks...
EDIT: it detects phone language as well

I have it running in a CMDefy 7.1. Maybe something changed in 7.2 RC1?
It doesn't work on GGL ROM and CM7.2
I tested only on these two, only black screen.
Not working on many roms?
I've seen that the animation is not working on many ROMS. Have anyone tried to install it via ADB? Have anyone tried to decompress the animation and compile it again?
As I said before I'm using CyanogenMod-7.1.0-11-Defy (Gingerbread GWK74 - CyanogenDefy 11-11-11) on a Bayer Defy.
Nice bootanimation. Can anyone port it into miui .mtz file?

flashable, that's what the [CWM] means.
edit: added installation instructions.
thanks. I was looking at some instructions on the various ways to change your animation, I guess flashing is the easiest. When the instructions say to replace your old bootanimation.zip, you'll find it in System/customize/resource (HTC) or System/media, but I have the Ginger_Alev3 ROM and my gingerbread animation is in System/bin. Think this will work OK on the gingerbread ROM?

Doesn't work with gingerbread. I think the bootanimation being in system/bin is the problem.

NOTE: This boot animation requires that your Dell Streak be rooted. It is specifically set up for the default landscape orientation of the Dell Streak. It is not intended for use with portrait devices, since the special effects were by default in widescreen orientation in the film. However, should the end user desire to use the animation in portrait mode, desc.txt within the zip file will need to be edited.
Remember that anything you do here is at your own risk. Don't come to me if you happen to be that one person in the universe who manages to brick their Streak. You have been warned.
I was inspired to make this after seeing the various Doctor Who animations, especially the 11th, which is available for the Streak. I am a Doctor Who fan, but having the TARDIS floating through the time vortex I found to be a bit bothersome aesthetically. Fortunately, as a fan of science-fiction, I knew where I could find another vortex: Stargate.
I went and created this without bothering to search to see if someone else had come up with the same thing. Unfortunately for me, some guys on the Evo 4G forum came up with one (thread here). However, theirs is different from mine in that they don't include the full wormhole special effect from the film, and incorporate the wormhole special effects from Stargate SG-1. They chose to go with text at the end of the animation, Android of course.
I chose not to go that route. There's no text, just a never-ending wormhole (that the .GIF above does not properly show). Anything else would be a distraction in my opinion.
But...let me know what you guys think.
To install, download the file here. Then, using whichever method you feel most comfortable using, copy the Stargate boot animation to \system\media on the Dell Streak's internal storage. Make sure the permissions are properly set (should be rw-r--r--). Reboot the phone and enjoy.
UPDATE: For some inexplicable reason, updates to the DSC ROM include the default bootanimation.zip, despite there being no updates to that file that would make its inclusion necessary. After being forced three times to replace my boot animation due to the weekly incremental updates to the ROM, I created a zip file that can be flashed through StreakMod Recovery to take care of this annoyance. Two versions of the flashable zip are available. The first installs to /System/Media and will overwrite any existing boot animation. The second installs to /Data/Local. The /Data/Local file has not been tested on my Streak and thus I cannot guarantee it will work. Should the file not work, download the original zip file linked above and copy it to /Data/Local.
Flashable Stargate Boot Animation - /System/Media
Flashable Stargate Boot Animation - /Data/Local (untested)
loving it! im on simple streak, i put it in data/local
stick it in /data/local/ it doesnt need root access or permissions setting.
and is chosen instead of anything in the system/media folder
Honestly, I didn't know about using \data\local. I mentioned \system\media because that's where the original bootanimation.zip is located.
Beautiful... Thank you!

Hey guys,
I've liked the various BIOS POST boot animations available, but all of the ones I'd seen to date either refer to a hacked/over clocked device, or show the Android version at some point during it - so I wanted to make one that kept it generic and close to stock. Plus I wanted to have a crack at it for myself, and put some of my own touches on it.
I’m still working on some of the timings for this, so I welcome any feedback.

ICavalera, read the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14383699 regarding the Boot Animation Installer. You can easily install any boot animation with that.
Thanks, but i want boot animation for legend to use with that software.

Ahh gotcha. Boot animations aren't phone specific. Hell, my BIOS one will work on any HVGA device, it's just the hardware information I wrote on the screen matches that inside the Legend.
You will need to make sure that any boot animation you load is the right resolution though (HVGA for the Legend), otherwise it'll look crap.
You'll find two types of boot animations floating round the forums
- ones that are the bootanimation.zip archive only (containing the png images and script)
- flashable files (containing the bootanimation.zip archive) which you install using CWM/Recovery.
Easiest way to check is if you download a boot animation zip and open it in WinRAR/7-zip. If it contains "Part0" and "Part1" folders, it'll work with Bootanimation Installer v3.3.

at the bottom he provided one made by him .....
I dont understand but that version works perfectly in my phone so it is possible...
The Deal....
It works cuz
Its just time consuming!!!
here is the deal.
Windows Instructions:
Find your favorite boot animations.
Copy the Bootanimation.Zip file to your desktop...
Extract this file to your desk top:
You now should have an unzipped bootanimation file folder.
It probally contains two folders with part0, part1 (or something similar)
PS
always save the original bootsamgung.qmg until you get the modified one working***
just use rom toolbox or other root enabled file manager to move the original out and put the modified one in.....
PEACE
