[Q] HTC Self portrait app? - HTC EVO 3D

I used to own a Desire Z, which I assume, due to it not having a forward facing camera, had a very useful and good, self portrait app built in. This used the face recognition and made a noise when a face was recognised which made the noise more frequently as you moved the camera more towards your face. I know that I can use the screen to line up the camera but this is only using the 1.3mp camera and doesn't do 3d. I have tried a few of the app a from the market place by they are all lacking compared with what came with the desire z. Does any one know if it possible to get the HTC app?

Try ripping it from a desire z Rom and trying it.

[Request] Port Amaze 4G camera apk?

The Amaze has a VERY nice camera app, beats our stock app in a few ways. I searched and found it had been ported to the Evo 3D, the graphics were a little screwy, and it FC'S when you take a pic.
Anyone willing and able to port this, fix the graphics and fonts and get it to work?
What's different or better?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
More bells and whistles mostly, a LOT more scenes to choose from, a higher ISO setting, also, the Evo 3D guys are claiming much improved pic quality. Plus, options are good I THINK its the same sensor in ours and the Amaze?
you could just improve the stock camera app give me a couple of minutes and ill make a commit to my svn with a better camera app
So far I'm not a fan of the stock camera app.... no metering option, ISO only to 800, most of the scenes seem worthless. The picture adjustments change too severely. But mostly, it ruins pics by defaulting to way too high ISO, and too much saturation.
I've been using Vignette and getting MUCH better results.
You can pull the APK from any of their roms and try to install it, you might have to wait until we have root access and push it though.
def agree the camera has room for improvement
the worst thing with the stock app has to be the utterly ridiculous white balance.... NONE of the options give a result that is anywhere near correct in artificial lighting.
I heard in all the reviews the sensor was improved, but i dont see how over my thunderbolt or incredible2. Cant wait til this whole country is covered in 4g so i dont need a new sim card everytime i use a non 4g phone, utterly wasteful
The sensor DOES seem to be much improved. I took a video last night in very low light that my Dinc NEVER would have been able to get. It would have been a blurry mess. I've gotten some good low light pics too. But I've been using Vignette which blows the stock camera app away in both picture quality and number of options. It was my kids birthday yesterday, we took her to Chuck E Cheese, forgot to bring our point and shoot, but the Rez made a more than adequate substitute....
for anyone not impressed with this camera please do yourself a favor and try some alternate software....
This thread is in the wrong forum.
if you were to take a 13mp camera for example from the droid razr hd in china, and pop it in the rezound, would it work? or would you need programming for it?

nope.....needs kernel support...the libraries need to support it as well
*bump*
Still holding out hope for a ported Amaze camera app or an improved stock app...
EDIT: for what its worth, the camera hardware is pretty decent. I've been using Vignette as my primary camera app and consistently get better results than the stock app. It also has many more options and adjustments available.
The downside is it is slow, clunky, and not well integrated like the stock app. I find I have to constantly babysit the settings to get the really good results, and getting to the gallery or sending messages requires leaving the app as the built in "shortcuts" don't work correctly.
The evo 3d apk works but takes really screwed up pictures
I rooted and pushed the amaze one and it wouldn't show up in Apps. I tried installing it from apk, and it fails after like 1 second of trying to install

weird.... I got one that was ported from the Amaze FOR the 3D, it installs from apk, launches and works but FC's when trying to save a picture.
*bump* since it was moved and because I KNOW some one out there could easily do this...

Slightly n00by question re GSM Evo 3D

I've taken the plunge for the Asda deal and it arrives on Monday with any luck
I'm no stranger to flashing roms (as you can see I've been here on and off since 2006 and the XDA Mini S/Wizard) and the first thing I plan to do is root/s-off - just wanted to ask everyone which is the best rom for a GSM Evo 3D that fulfills the following criteria?:
1) Highest res smooth 3d recording
2) Speed/smoothness
3) Flexibility
I like experimenting with different kernels but as I'm upgrading from the good ol' HD2 which runs pretty much anything you throw at it and has some heavy dev behind it, I'm trying to get a feel for which roms will give me epic performance BUT also allow me tot ake full advantage of the 3d cameras.
Any pointers or recommendations heartily appreciated.
Monx's ROMeOS3D iceslated is pretty good very stable I've not had a problem with it also regular updates

Sense 3.0 roms are fully feature complete, sense 3.5 roms are 99% feature complete and 3D games won't work.
I would say the best rom for a daily is LeeDroid
Leedroid is your best bet for all the features. If you want a _much_ smoother Rom with the only problem being no 3d games, then I would thoroughly recommend mik runny.

just a clarification - for 3d games you mean games which uses the custom 3d screen api from htc or 3d graphics in general?
Not at all bothered with 3d games but want the highest resolution possible for my video recording and photos. I heard leedroid had lag on 3d video recording. Am thinking Mikrunny might be best atm.

I will warn you mikrunny has what appears to be on screen lag when snapping 3d images, but the final picture looks fine.
EDIT: This is only because of the "Amaze" camera .apk it uses, if you delete the current .apk and .odex file from /system/app then replace it with the standard HTCCamera.apk, it removes the lag and you're good to go! You can also if you wish use Titanium Backup to re-odex the HTCCamera.apk after.

Doesn't the Amaze camera allow the 1080P recording though?
Thanks everyone for your input btw. Waiting patiently for it to arrive today.
I hadn't noticed any issues with the amaze camera and 3d recording

3D video recording is fine I never said it wasn't, so is 3D picture taking. However with the Amaze camera on Mikrunny it does have a screen view lag before snapping photos.
It has arrived and I went with Mikrunny 1.13 Can only ge the amaze camera to do 720p but never mind.
Loving this phone, don't see why it isn't more popular.
Hi, are there some solutions for laggy Amaze camera when using 3D photo mode? (no video) ... Pictures are fine but before taking picture its slowed when moving to sides... I know about possibility of replacing it by original Evo 3D camera, but I don't want do it this way, becouse I hadn't this bug before, after ROM and Kernel installation and returning apps from Titanium backup everything was OK, I didn't installed any other apps but bug appeared few days after, like from nothing... I had amaze camera also on previous LeeDroid version and everything was OK all time, I also didn't change anything about CPU frequency before bug appeared.... Is there anything what can fix it without replacing camera apk?
Sorry for my bad english, thx for reply
(using newest LeeDroid rom and kernel)

It doesn't do any higher no matter that rom, both 2D and 3D are limited to 720p.

There is no other way to fix amaze camera lag without replacing it by original camera? (set cpu to max frequency and performance mode help little bit but its still not ok). Or any idea why its laggy now? amaze in previous Leedroid version was without lags at all for me... And if only possible fix is flashing original camera or older rom(I would like to avoid this becouse I like amaze features in 2D mode), where I can find original Evo 3D camera zip file? I am trying to find it now but without succes...

Fisheye Camera

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a decent fisheye camera available for my Wildfire. I've spent a lot of time browsing the market and all the ones I've found haven't satisfied me..
What would be ideal (but I don't even know if it's possible) would be to modify the standard CM 7.2 camera that I currently use to include a fisheye option.
I could be asking for the impossible, but if you could help that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Francis.

Do these work?
Thanks for your input, but these were the two I was most unimpressed by..

How about this and this then?
The latter has a range of effects, fisheye is one of them I think.
But these are only effects, to have a real fish-eye type camera I think you'd have to have a special type of lens which allows for this type of photography.

Paranoid android, cyanogenmod, ect camera for htc one

Is the camera quality in htc one (with cyanogenmod, paranoid android and other aosp roms) comparable to htc one without custom rom?
There's a thread somewhere in the international forum of a comparison. The Sense software just processes photos slightly better. Not a huge difference. Definitely have to try for yourself.

and the front facing speakers?
Are the front facing speakers good quality?
Just wait until the Google edition comes out and use that Rom. HTC is supposes to add beats and completely utilize the camera.

AOSP based still have a considerable amount of lag. I was trying to use CM at Lagoon yesterday and I was unable to take an decent pictures because of how slow it reacted. very common around the entire OS. Keypad, keyboard, lock/unlock, proximity sensor, etc... it's all very slow to react. Once you get some apps running, the entire OS gets jittery.
I would wait for Google Edition firmwares to drop and stick with Sense until then if you are worried about the camera in any way.

Repurposing the Evo 3D as a dedicated camera

I love taking 3D pictures and videos with my girlfriend's Sprint Evo 3D. We are ditching Sprint for T-Mobile, so she will have to get a new phone. We will keep the Evo 3D and make it our dedicated 3D camera/camcorder. Here are some of my ideas:
ROM: CoolSense v17 by coolexe . My GF prefers Sense, and this ROM has been working well for her for over a year.
Kernel: Coolz Kernel 5.7 by coolexe & cjoliver Been using an older version for the last year, pretty rock solid. I think it makes Sense (pun intended) to use a kernel from the same dev as the ROM.
Cam Mods: Cool Cam Mod v6 by coolexe. We used v5 for over a year, its pretty sweet. Took some awesome New Years photos in 3D, and they came out great!
Other Stuff: Rom Toolbox Pro, to remove bloat and unneeded apps. A couple of offline maps for navigating outside the grid. GPS Status to fine tune location, and Dropbox to auto-sync the pictures over wifi.
Did I forget anything? Got any suggestions? Let me know!

Do you have a phereo.com account. Want to see some 3d samples from the cool mods camera app!
I was thinking the same.
#1 most important thing, I think, would be to gut the telephony-relevant parts for improved battery life (currently running mine in airplane mode).
#2, would be some way to make the shutter button wake the phone and/or switch to the camera automatically
(1-click quick-shot, with screen off would be a dream)
Are the above possible, with this phone?
I'd also suggest picking up the biggest battery pack you can find. If all you want is a camera, you can definitely sacrifice some portability in favour of more battery life
go into the 3v0 cdma section of the site and look up negalite blurom. when you install it there is an option for tablet mode which ditches the phone parts and it acts just like a tablet which is what i will be doing once the new htc phone comes out in september.
enjoy
