So, I installed the openOptimus rom on my phone (LG Optimus P500h), and I love it, looks great, awesome battery life, but I've noticed a couple of things aren't working that I would like to get working, but I can't seem to figure out how to fix the problems so I'm hoping you guys can help me.
First problem, appears alarms don't vibrate, I have one particular alarm set to vibrate as it is a daily reminder for medication and I can't always have it make noise. So, if anyone has a fix for getting alarms to vibrate awesome.
Second problem, tethering/wireless hotspot doesn't work right. I turn it on and get error (both USB and Wifi), laptop will still connect to the wireless network (I generally don't use USB because my laptop is incredibly picky and refuses to accept it to begin with) however there won't be internet access, and I can't figure out why. If I go back to the stock rom it worksfine but with this ROM it won't. I've even tried installing with a different kernel and still no go.
Third one was getting apps2sd to work but I found a second option for doing that so I'm going to give that a try and see if it works, if not I'll post a reply for that.
Thanks guys!
Edit: Apps2SD now working. So just alarm and tethering I'd like fixed
I use a different Rome that has the teetering bug. There is an appear in market that solves this problem (for WiFi) but it makes an ad hock connection so only one client can connect to the phone. Just do a search for teetering in the market

Hey guys first time poster long time reader. Before I begin I just wanted to thank you all for the help and support with the ins and outs of the android OS.
Now that that is out of the way, I had a question in regards to Veoh.com and some issues I am having with it. I have Kaos Froyo v39, and I use Dolphin browser mini. When I change my useragent to iPhone and I go on Veoh it works okay for a little bit, and then it either stops loading videos or gives me an error message saying 'this video cannot be played' is there a fix for this? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi! Welcome. Is this over 3G or Wifi, or have you tried both?
Either way, this is safe to try: Download "APN OnOff" from the market. Launch it and choose "Show APN list" in the middle of the screen. Press Menu and choose "Reset to default". You may or may not need to perform a reboot to see if this helps. Try it without first.
This used to help me with restoring tethering when it stopped working.
A longer method to possibly achieve the same thing, but may be worth a try if the first method doesn't work:
Perform a nandroid and flash a stock-like ROM such as xtrSENSE (what I would recommend). You only have to use it long enough to download "APN Backup & Restore" off the market. Run it and choose "Backup APNs", you can name it whatever makes sense to you such as "xtrSENSE stock APN.xml", otherwise it just uses the current date and time.
Nandroid back to KaosFroyo and install "APN Backup & Restore" again. This time choose "Restore APNs" and restore the one you backed up from xtrSENSE. Again try it without a reboot first but if it doesn't work try a reboot.
You can do this as often as you like to see if this helps with any data trouble. I'm not positive if it helps with WIFI at all; I know it helps with 3G Data.
Please let us know if any of this helps or not.
Thank you so much, its working now. Only issue now is that the bar in the program is stuck in the off position, and when I click on it to turn it back on it just goes into the settings. My connections are still fine as you can see, should I be worried?
On an unrelated note, which tethering Rom did you use? I would love to tether my phone, but the threads I have read make it seem like a daunting process to me.

Bar in which program? APN OnOff? As long as everything's working I wouldn't worry about it since I don't use that button; I think I've noticed that before. A reboot would probably restore it, in my experience.
I've tethered under every ROM but any GingerBread one, now. Started with xtrsense, found that it was marginally more reliable under Froyo so GB would probably be good too. What was better about 2.2+ tethering was how fast the tethering connection would be made, before it took a minute or two for the computer to recognize it; now down to less than 30 seconds.
I don't recommend the old wired or wireless tether for root under 2.2+, but I haven't tried them in a while. 2.2+ and CM6+ have their own native tethering. CM6.1's notification power widgets have a WIFI tether one which connects the fastest. Free Tethering Widget off the market will also give you a widget for that and/or USB tethering, which is built into 2.2+ itself but for some reason CM doesn't include a notification power widget for.
Wireless tethering eats your battery like crazy plus made the phone extra hot, but you have to understand that it was my only home internet until a month ago since last August. I kept the battery cover off and had a fan on it, but you don't have to do that for just occasional tethering. I also had it plugged in to charge constantly; I just liked how fast wireless connected.
Wired tethering also uses battery faster and makes it warmer, just not nearly as fast or warm as wireless.
Occasionally 3G would stop and I'd have to turn off tethering and do the steps in my other post to get it going again. Most of the time a reboot after doing APN OnOff made tethering last longer.
If you know how to install drivers with Device Manager (assuming you're on Windows), or you don't mind learning I would get the latest drivers from http://htc.developers.comhttp://developer.htc.com/ if I remember correctly.
I'm on my phone at the moment, I'll check later. The driver package is all the way at the bottom of the list, the last one.
Otherwise just install HTCSync for the Eris and that'll install older drivers.

Okay so let me get this straight... I have tethering on my Froyo 2.2 already and I just need to grab a widget in order to activate it? What is the driver for? I was under the assumption that my phone would become a "hotspot" so I could set it up to an Xbox PS3 etc. Do I need to download the driver in order to tether to the computer? If so, how would I be able to use a wired tether to something like a PS3? I am a pretty quick learner on the whole concept of rooting and flashing Roms, but I am a newb so I appreciate your time and patience.

If you're running a recent enough version of a ROM based on CM6.x (6.1 or 6.2?), then if you enable the tethering widget in the notification menu power buttons (the buttons at the top), then you'd don't need anything else to WIFI tether.
You can do USB tethering by going into the stock settings, but it's such a PITA to do it there it's easier to do it by using that widget I mentioned, which also handles Froyo's WIFI tethering as well. So if you're never going to do USB tethering, you don't need any other drivers (called RDNIS drivers) and you don't need that widget off the market.
If you do ever plan on wire tether, then you will need to install some RDNIS drivers (the link I gave you) unless you've already installed HTCSync, since that includes both the regular and the RDNIS drivers. I have no idea if you can wire tether to a PS3 since in Windows you need to install a driver, but you can try it and let us know, or search for other people who wanted to do the same thing. You should be able to WIFI tether, however.
No problem, I'm glad you pick things up quickly, makes it that much easier. And you're welcome!
So help me - what bar in the program were you talking about?
On APN on /off, when I reset the settings I saw a bar on the main screen highlighted on. I turned it off thinking I should rest it. I couldn't toggle it back on, bit data was still working and I did a reboot just in case. It was nothing major thankfully.

You were correct in your end assessment that it shouldn't be anything to worry about, that APN switch in the middle of the screen. I've had mixed results with it in my observations, so I don't even touch it although as you noticed it doesn't seem to hurt anything.
Thanks for verifying; that was the only thing I could imagine you might be talking about!
I've tried EVERYTHING under the sun to get this working.
Here's the deal, my current custom rom, Tesla coil GB is the only thing that lets me add a google account AND connect to Market. Actually, Vicious' MIUI rom works too, but that isn't useable for a phone.
I really want to use BAMF Forever or Cyanogen mod, but every custom rom I throw at my thunderbolt will not connect to the server.
I tried pulling the sim card out and using wifi to connect, I've tried turning on airplane mode and trying to connect, I've tried a factory reset... nothing works.
Getting an account added to the phone isn't the problem here, I can actually do that with the youtube workaround very easily, but even after I do that, every time I try and open the market app, I get an error that flashes up that says "server error" and nothing else, and then crashes when you hit "OK".
I've been sticking with my current rom for a long while because of this infuriating problem. I could really use any help possible. I'm starting to think my phone is defective.
So the problem only occurs with the market? Do other Google products work?
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt powered by KillaSense 3.0
Yup, only market. Everything else works just fine.
After a quick google, i'm seeing some people saying they didn't have background data enables and it worked once enabled. If it is enabled, disable it, then re-enable it. Others said that worked. Good luck.
I'll give it a shot, as it's nothing I've came across on google for this problem yet.

Sometimes its just different search terms. Thats where i found a ton of them for this. Good luck.
Hi guys,
First of all, I am quite new with Rooting, and putting roms on my phone. But I really like it, so I'm doing a lot of research to it atm
Two days ago, I decided to put CM7.1 on my Desire HD, together with the LorDModUE V8.1 kernel. Everything works just perfect, I really like it.
However, I do have one pretty big problem, and that has to do with wifi.
When I am upstairs, where my router is, my wifi works fine. But when I go downstairs, my wifi becomes ''unstable''. It still has connection with my router, but with a lower signal. Well, that isn't a problem really, but the problem is, is that my wifi signal becomes white after a while.
This still doesn't have to be a big problem, but for me it is, because my internet isn't working anymore, when I am having a white wifi signal! When I try to load a website on my phone, it just won't load. it is like it freezes, because it does not say I have no wifi signal.
So, I am still connected to my wifi, but it doesn't load any websites, or any other programs that require internet acces.
Then, when I reboot, it works fine again! but only for some time, it is really random.
This is only when I am downstairs. as I said, upstairs, at my router, it works perfectly.
What I already tried:
- Set my wifi options to static IP
- Downloaded wifi fixer
- reboot
- airplane mode
I really don't know where to find the solution. I could try to reinstall cm7.1, without that kernel, but I really like that kernel, so I prefer not to reinstall anything. But if that is really necessary, so be it
I would like to hear from you!
Niels
I think your problem is screen off and on, signal become white right?
If so, I think you forgotten to switch "WiFi sleep policy" to never in WiFi setting

Thanks for your quick reply, but that also does not help. I already tried that aswell, but I forgot to mention it.. it is already set to 'never'.. :/
HTC has better WiFi chips than Samsung.
Check with your kernels developers whether it has WiFi "N" router setting included. The "N" (larger WiFi range router support"
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Hmm, It doesn´t seem to have that..
I guess I will have to reinstall cyanogen, and install a different/stok cm7 kernel then?
I made a screenshot on how it looks like, now it has a green connection, but the internet load bar sort of ''freezes''
* Oh, can't enter any link before I reached the 8th post >.<*
My sense wildfire has WiFi "N" rounter support in custom kernel

Hi!
I've read through different posts, but I haven't got the answer to my question, which is:
I connect through CM7.1s WiFi tethering and I get internet access on my computer, but just a couple of minutes later it stops working (i.e the computer no longer connects, doesn't find hotspot), though the phone still tells me tethering is active. Disabling doesn't work, phone darkens the option all together, though still says it's active. Only reboot makes it idle again.
Known issue? Have I done something wrong? No problems at all with USB-teethering.
Thanks!
PS.
Running CM7.1 Stable
Same here
Has someone got an answer? Has it been fixed in CM 7.2 or later?
It's irritating.. sometimes it works for 2mins other times for 30mins. When it stops you have to restart the phone because it cannot disable. The Checkbox is just disabled and when I disconnect while it's working, it is disabled almost immediately. I've even left it over night to "disable" just to see what happens. Nothing... It's a pity. Such a great mod with such a great drawback... I hope it gets fixed!
Any help, advice, tips, etc appreciated! :good:

Have you tried the latest CM7.2 to see if it's been fixed?

I have WiFi issues too for example, my phones connected to WiFi then stop using my phone, when I wake it up after a while it won't connect and it won't even see my router any more, only a reboot will fix it.

Hi, I'm using resurrection remix ics rom, the newest one. It's a brilliant rom so thanks for the effort you spent making it! I do have a couple of issues though, I've found skype doesn't not login or just force quits itself, tethering doesn't allow for more than one connection, nor does it allow skype to pass through tethering. It would be really nice if someone could help me with this / recommend a rom where these features + lock screen work. I've posted here as I'm new I can't post in dev.
Thanks!

well, first of all, are u sure that ur carrier has opens the skype ports??? thats essential, some carriers block those ports, and causes that issue that ur having...
i'm using rootbox and i don't have any problem with skype...dunno about RR...but i don't think that it is a rom problem
Hi, thanks for your reply.
My skype ports are all open as I've flashed the stock rom and skype logged in today. Granted, it works intermittently, but it works I know T-mobile UK keep it all open too. Seems that it might be just due to the siyah kernel, although I've had had skype log in once on that kernel using a non resurrection rom. Even though skype has logged in today, I seem to have no power down options e.g. restart, silent mode etc and, more annoyingly, I have no lock screen again.
Thanks

Here's an odd problem - wondering if you have seen it?
I can use Skype on my PC for about 20 minutes before it suddenly cuts out, and in fact my entire mobile data connection shuts down. If I reset the phone, internet (and Skype) comes back, but now only for a few minutes before it is shut down again.
If I don't use Skype, I can use the internet all day long with no disconnects... suspicious
