I've seen a lot of post that say you'll brick if you flash gb with the ICS RUU and I haven't heard of a way to down grade you hboot or your mainversion yet so I wouldnt try it unless ya feel brave lol
sent from my rezound
Rom: BAMF ICS v1.1
kernel:sebastinFM
All though it's never a hard brick you can recover as long as you do it right but I don't think you can recover with the old firmware you still have to use the upgrade if you flashed the leak to use a ICS roms

I have reverted from clean ROM 4.0 to my nandroid GB back up with no problems.
What you do lose from going from ICS to GB is the internal sdcard mount.
I hear they use two different systems so you wont be able to view your sd card going back to GB.
There is a flash going around in the forums to get you back the sd card mount.
and FYI, as far as I know you can't fully downgrade the radio if you updated to the latest leaked radio.
no i dont have a brick i just need my phone to look like stock so i can trade it for another
and when i played gta 3 and went home this is wat i got:

there should be a stock GB rom floating around the forums.
you will need to get some recovery software like amonra.
Don't forget to update the kernel when you revert back.
ye i have a recovery, and i think i can find a gb rom, but i thought the kernel comes with the roms?
can i just wipe and flash this?

at least it comes with a kernel

I think it should come with the rom. You just need to flash it after the rom installs.
Flash one of the stock roms and kernels and then relock through fastboot, I doubt they will check the bootloader but just to be safe

if you want them to know it a custom rom, because all the bloat is removed, and the battery has the percent on it, and vz app tab in app drawer is gone
EDIT: Just saying
k then how about this: http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=55
i can flash that throught the recovery right?
or maybe the rooted one?:http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=38
i can only flash ruu thru fastboot right? so if i want to install thru the recovery i have to use the rooted version
Now its not ripping so much, freaking weird

First..regardless of what you do you have to hope the verizon rep is not smart enough to boot into bootloader before exchanging as it already says unlocked...and depending on what you have done...it could say tampered as well. At best when you reflash and relock it will say "re-locked" not locked.
But to pass most reps you need stock..
so yes you need to flash stock RUU...but if you have flashed a kernel or rom your your mainver has likely been reset.
So first you need this to reset your mainver...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526316
Then flash the RUU from here
http://www.filefactory.com/f/c2e320ee1d5c7886/
You are wasting your time.. rooting and romming does not prevent exchanges. Big post in general about it too.
They check for 3 things
1, Was the shipping box damaged?
2, Is the phone physically damaged (broken screen , etc)
3, does the phone power on.
That is all that is verified, the Customer serive rep on the phone is the person responsible for verifying you have a valid exchange reason. If they authorize a replacement.. then you have nothing to worry about.
I have returned 2 rezounds for screen problems , one had ics, and one was.rooted gb.
*edit*
Never take a phone to a store, just call 611 and talk to a CS rep. Stores have their own agenda, the reps on the phone are directed to, in most cases, send you a replacement (almost) no questions asked.

further, you cannot downgrade back to 2.01.605.11 if you have flashed the leak RUU.
you cannot downgrade the hboot and radio, period. you cannot flash a gingerbread rom with ICS firmware, period. it wont brick, but your sd card will disapear
if you ran the leaked RUU,best thing you can hope for is relocked after relocking and re-running that RUU. but as was mentioned,it may say tampered as well.
I was in the same boat. I got my replacement phone few days ago. Sent out the broken one (3G radio doesn't work) with the ICS leak on it.
You can not RUU back to previous versions. Don't waste your time. I reflashed the ICS PH98IMG so that it at least doesn't say "Security Warning" or "Tampered".

Whenever I try to flash a ROM I always get "main version older". I'm on the stock, rooted gingerbread ROM right now with an unlocked bootloader and if I try to flash any ROM whether it's a gingerbread or ICS ROM I always get the same message when the phone reboots to the bootloader to flash the kernel.
What can I do about this?
After I first unlocked my phone I tried to install an ICS rom then I installed a gingerbread rom after and I never saw that message once. Then I started seeing it so I went back to stock to see if that would fix my issue but it hasn't.

It mostly mean your htc rezound is on a newer main version of software you going to need to downgrade by changing the number here a link to help you do this and take out the older message that come up http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467099
So, theoretically, if I take it all the way back down to 1.00.000.0 I could be able to flash anything because whatever I flash will always be greater than the main version.

Well it works. Anyone have any idea how I keep getting stuck at the HTC screen when I flash some roms (ICS ones mostly). I've never made it past the HTC screen with CleanRom and now I'm on the new Bamf ICS 0.5 rom and I'm sitting here stuck again. The kernel flashed successfully in the bootloader so I'm not sure why I keep getting stuck.

...Gingerbread roms aren't working either. I have flashed 1 ICS rom and 2 Gingerbread roms in the past but for some reason now, I can't flash anything.
I'm wondering if flashing the stock RUU and relocking, then unlocking again and reflashing Amon Ra would fix the issue. After I originally unlocked was the only time I could ever successfully flash anything.
Don't see how locking and re-unlocking would make a difference.

Just a question.. if something is wrong with the phone , just return it ? What actually happens when you RUU. What version did you download off Android police ? Prerooted had lots of issues. Try another mirror and download possibly ? As you have probably read 100 times it needs to run twice to fully install the new firmware and software.

Ya I have read 100 times. I used the actual non-prerooted ruu and flashed twice. Repeated over and over and it wouldnt work correctly. As I can't return to stock properly because of new hboot, radio, and the big "tampered" on my bootloader, I am in no hurry to get a 600$ Bill for trying to return the device. I'm out of ideas except for letting the ota brick my phone and then returning it

You had to re-lock boot loader, then flash one of the stock ICS leaks (not the pre rooted version), then do all of the hboot updating and stuff. After that you should have stock with a relocked boot loader. Now, re-unlock boot loader, and flash Amon Ra. Then you can flash the pre rooted version or a ROM.

Ok so I want to talk my phone back to Verizon to have them swap the batter out. Im rooted, S-off and running a ROM, I think its Neomax.
What I need to know is whats the easiest and fastest way to get my phone back to a state that appears stock just so if they poke around a little they wont know. Don't need to relock or s back on
Couple questions....first if I RUU I lose the custom recovery correct?
I can RUU with s-off and it wont give me any problems right?
Is there a stock ROM that I can flash that will just flash over neomax, with a wipe obviously, that wont take my stock recovery away?
Like I said all I want is a new battery.....
Yes, if you ruu you lose your custom recovery. Just reinstall your recovery after you show it to verizon
If you are s off make a nand backup then run RUU and then flash one of the hex edited hboots there is one that will make it appear that you are locked s on, but you will still be s off.
Since you will still be s off you can simply flash a custom recovery and restore nand back to your custom Rom.
I would recommend Hanson's all in 1 rezound tool, it's in the sticky thread.

ive done this three times try talking them into giving you an extended battery i just brought the battery in without the phone, they already know that theirs bugs in these batteries they should swith it out for ya with out so much as a thought.. and theirs very few verizon csr's that would know your rooted unless they looked at your hboot, or software settings. even then they cant accuse you of "rooting" unless theyve recieved your phone and started checking its tamperprotection..

It may be taking a little chance but Im banking on the fact that they're not going to check the hboot especially for a battery, So I don't really want to flash a different one if I dont have to.

I really don't expect them too all I want is to make sure if they look at the phone it appears stock, if they check the software version in about phone it appears to be htc and there is no superuser int he apps.
I didn't think of just taking in the battery, I could try that. I don't want an extended battery though I actually have one and I don't use it.....I hate it. Basically turns the phone into a brick
S-ON your phone and run a signed RUU. Problem solved. It shouldn't even say Unlocked or Tampered in HBOOT.
Or, flash the hex edited HBOOT that says S-ON then run a stock RUU...

So just grab any ruu and just do the rom again.
will that work since i have S-on still or since its unlocked.
Well, you have the 2.11.605.9 radios.
You'll need the 2.11.605.9 RUU, which I can't find it after numerous searches.
Try flashing this.
This is the full RUU for 2.11.605.19
http://goo.im/devs/trter10/PG05IMG.zip
***Credit to Trter10 for this full RUU***
You may have to root again and get s-off, flash the 2.11.605.19 radios, and then try flashing this RUU.
The 2.11.605.19 radios can be found here:

I'm not sure if you'll have to do the instructions above or if flashing this RUU will put the radios on there. I'm 99.9% sure this RUU contains the radios as well.

Try flashing a stock ruu and an older radio if you're using the leaked radios. The tool can't unroot the ics leak with the leaked radios. I would just download the stock ruu and fast boot flash it. Then try unrooting.

Can't he just do a factory reset and then boot to one of the custom recoveries and re-flash the latest OTA?
cheers,
john
No op's links have broken software...I have the needed files on my dropbox and media fire account...and no all factory reset does is wipe all data and setting for ROM...and may cause custom ROMs to not boot...ota is only achievable if on stock ROM and there is an update...however I have all those proper files too

Got it.
One last question, though, since I'm not that savvy...

...I didn't upgrade to the latest OTA from a previous OTA---I was on the Global Leak---and I installed the ROM found here with absolutely no problems after manually upgrading the firmware to the latest, which is what the OP is on. Fwiw, that ROM still appears to be available via the link in Post 1 of that thread.

that isnt a pure stock ota bud...thats a rom made with includes from it and rooted
This might sound stupid, but your objective here really is to get stockish, correct? With your HBoot you could use this ROM:

Just make sure to flash boot.img afterwards via fastboot. This is as close to pure stock (only root added) as you can get without S-Off or other trickery. It should suffice for the requirements of the OP.

I've been trying to deal with this problem over in the liquidsmooth thread, but it's clear now that my problems are not related specifically to the rom and that thread isn't really the place for it.
I've lost all cell connectivity. Calls, texts, data, everything. The liquid rom had been working for me for over a week. I've reverted to previous roms both with new flashes and using restore files. I've tried a different recovery. Every time, it acts like I don't have a sim card.
I was suspecting that my sim might be bad, but back on the liquidsmooth thread, it was suggested that I need to RUU back to stock and start over. I'd be willing to do that except the only way suggested was really complicated. I'm S-on and it included ubuntu and the wire trick to get s-off, which I'm hesitant to do. I searched and found another thread with instructions to run an RUU while still s-on, and it seems like it would have worked except that my hboot is newer than the RUU used, and I've been unable to find a newer one.
I tried flashing the stock rom above and flashing the stock recovery that I had from when I first rooted several months ago. It still thinks I don't have a sim card, but otherwise it booted fine until I re-locked to bootloader. Then it wouldn't boot anymore. I guess it still knows that those versions of hboot, the recovery, and the rom don't quite go together.
Is there an RUU that will work with hboot 2.28 to "un-root" my phone without downloading a second operating system and performing surgery on my phone? Are the correct stock rom and recovery out there that I can flash and re-lock? Is there a way to know if that is actually the problem if if it is just my sim card? Are there any other ideas to get my phone functioning again?
Please help!

There is no RUU for your hboot, need to s-off...
If your SIM is bad, get a new one from Verizon.
Also, is the battery cover on?

On that note... Are using a stock battery cover? Some aftermarket ones are questionable at best. Also, try another SIM, Verizon will replace it free.

I tried using a friend's good sim card and it didn't work. Yes, I'm using the stock battery cover. I guess I'll have to do s-off so I can RUU back to stock.
Ugh . . . This has become so much more than I ever intended to get myself into

You didn't answer my question, is it on the phone while you're testing your connection. Dumb question I know, antenna's are in it though and I've caught people leaving it off and not getting a signal then wondering why...

Sorry, I missed that part of the question. We did it pretty quick, but I think I did put the battery cover. Also, it's not just getting no signal, there is an icon in the notification bar and a big message on the lock screen says I have no sim card at all. That has never happened before, even with the battery cover off. As I look back I realize I failed to mention that important detail. I guess it still couldn't hurt to try a brand new sim card before taking the plunge into s-off. Even if that isn't the problem, at least I'll know for sure, and as you pointed out, its easy and free.
