not able to flash custom kernels in mini pro - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I am not able to flash custom kernels to my mini pro, bootloader unlocked, .62 firmware. bootloader was unlocked through testpoint method. when I try to flash kernel through fastboot method, it shows "3 bad blocks". then when I restart the phone, it gets stuck in the black screen.
I read somewhere in this forum that bad block problem has no solution. is it so? as far as I know, the whole point of unlocking the bootloader is to flash custom kernels and then custom ROMs through CWM. I desperately wanted to try out some custom ROMs. wont I ever be able to flash custom ROMs to my phone because of this "bad blocks" problem?
Isn't there any other method to flash custom kernel. like may be instead of using boot.img, custom kernel.sin could be integrated in the firmware file(ftf) and flashed using flashtool?[like this http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/142493#142493 ]
I'm a noob and i'm sorry if some of my questions were too silly. plz help me by providing a solution regarding the custom kernel flashing problem.

I have installed the required drivers. itseems bad block is a hardware problem. and there seems to be no other method to flash custom kernels. so I void my warranty by unlocking my bootloader for nothing :-(

You should check in the test point method forum.. Is anyone having this problem that you are having.. Or you can ask forum creator of test point method..

yes. I have read in this and other forums about people having 1, 2 bad sectors and so on. all of them have got the same reply. Its a hardware problem, so they have been suggested not to try installing custom kernel again :-( I was hoping of may be another method of flashing custom kernel.

Hello, I know about other method, from Wotanserver.com. You have to register, and then you can flash anyone of the firmwares you need, only select and they have the work.
The only thing is that I had tried and trying and trying I´ve resolve the customs installation with kernel change.
To use Wotanserver you need to buy some credits, but the firmware is the official and you can update via ota. You have to downgrade your device to 0.58, and perhaps your problem will resolve.
Sorry my english, I am spanish

You can always back to your stock ROM by updating phone via Sony Ericsson Update Service.
This may bring back your warranty, but i heard that it isn't for sure.

If SE can't figure out you've messed with their firmware then the warranty is still there.

when you brick phone just flash with Sony Ericsson PC Companion and you will get sock original rom
okeey thanks. can i root my phone? because i have a newer firmware.

I've seen here on xda, a report which says it is still possible. Try to use FlasherTool. It is the best and easiest for rooting and installing xRecovery, just 2 clicks. But I am not sure about the compability of the custom roms. They are made for the previous firmware. Maybe you'll be the first tester. ;-)

Hey,
'm curious to know, how many X10i are bricked, cause of any reason, just add your specific location, so we might help each other..
Here let's start with me:
Xperia Model:X10i
Bricked on: 5 March 2012
Location: Mumbai, India
Description: I had installed a custom rom and then I tried to install few apps, this was my 3rd custom rom and it crashed, didn't start ever after that..

I had the same problem as you recently.
Lost xrecovery, phone not booting, flashtool not seeing phone...
The only thing that fixed it was the flasher at wotanserver.com - someone mentioned it in a post here on XDA.
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/
Its free but you have to sign up...but it is well worth the 2 minutes.
Its all automatic, select your phone and thats it.
It flashes back to GB2.3.
Then you can use flashtool to go where you want from there.

If you say youve tried all possible methods-then the phones knackered. If it was me I would have
Try a different battery
Hardwire a battery
Try using a different pc
Try every version of flashtool
Try x10 flasher
Leave battery out for a while
Then after trying several times some of the above, and still nothing,It would go for repair or on eBay

You must first have your bootloader unlocked. Search the forum for ways on how to, there are (2) current methods being used to. When your bootloader is unlocked, download either expeacer's extended kernel or krsh v 3.0( check my sig ) and install it via fastboot mode. By following this you accomplish the ff: root your phone, install cwm and busybox. Btw, someguyfromhell has made a tut for this. Check it out.

Yes the different device ftf may cause touchscreen fault due to driver mismatching/wrong kernel, but i was using Sola's ftf so that is ruled out.Although you are right that something different is corrupting the screen 'cause Xperia Mini had the same problem that was related to some rom flashing.
Or may be,the flashtool doesn't format all the partitions of the phone and there are some hardware files still lurking somewhere in the one of the partition thats causing the problem, but its just my guess.
I thought that only wrong kernel can cause hardware failure, didn't knew that a simple rom flash can do this,so lesson learnt:silly:

If it is related to some physical damage, the solution won't work and you have to send it to service center.

You gotta find your stock recovery yourself by googling or request approriate one on the forum.
And see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163974 to make a flashable zip.
Or try this flashing recovery.img directly using Mobile uncle tools (I am not sure this would work. 50% to work)
See my thread here to try latter way.

Follow the steps 2, 3 and 5.
Good luck, bro.
