Since a week or 4 i got my TP i'm using APEX launcher for now.
And thought i could remove the stock launcher.
i think APEX is good but i wanna go back to Stock.
But there doesn't seem to be a way to install the stock launcher.
i somehow totally forgot to back it up.
I downloaded the stock launcher from a site and tried moving it to the system/app Chmod it rebooted and stil it doesn't work.
Tried it wit adb also no success.
Can someone help me?
Did you try installing the .apk? As far as I know that should work....
if you have the default file manager that goes with the prime, go to the root directory (when in sdcard, tap on the folder with an arrow next to it.) Then press the options button (the button on the very top right corner of the screen) and uncheck hide system files. Then you can see a folder called system. Open it, then app. Then find Launcher2.apk and install it.

Have you tried moving the launcher apk to /system/app directory then fix permissions ? You don't have to have cwm recovery installed , just rom manager . Install rom manager then select fix permissions and reboot , worked for me when I installed apex as system app should also work for installing any other launcher or least I assume.

Thanx for the advice i tried it but it didn't fix my problem.
Maybe someone could upload the launcher2.apk and the .odex from the .15 ww version.
Maybe the one 1 downloaded isn't the right one.
Thanks in advanced.
If i do a factory reset will it put all apps including stock launcher back?
Thanx in advance.
I fixed it.
I was pretty desperate but i fixed it.
For everyone who is as stupid as i was:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518462
Download the file of above link.
Extract it >> go to system/app in the extracted folder
Copy Launcher2.apk and the Launcher2.odex
Paste them in the system/app/ of your prime.
Then use ROM manager to fix permissions. Like shreddintyres said.
Reboot and then it should work. It did for me.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Ok this might be a stupid question but is there anyway to make this work on the mytouch 4g ? I moved from the vibrant to the 4g and I really dont want to use a normal task killer . I really liked how this worked . Thanks in advance !
Will this work on axura 2.2.5.7?
Update: I tried to install this but it didn't work. :-(

I downloaded and installed it right from this thread....didn't use root explorer. What is the correct way to install this, if mine was wrong.
*** Sent from my Samsing Vibrant (Axura 2.2.5.7) using xda app
Root Explorer or adb push to /system/app. Don't try to install like a normal app.
I just installed root explorer. Is this [LINK] a good tutorial on how to use RootExplorer... I couldn't find a step by step tutorial on xda.
root explorer is easy to use.
its just like using the stock files, but you can see other things that require root.
if your installing a app, and it won't let you install by just clicking it, then you go to the file, menu, copy/move, then go to system/app/ then paste/move it there, and then get out of that app, and in your app drawer, the app should be installed.
I'm running Cyanogen Mod on my Vibrant, and trying to get this APK installed. Using Root Explorer, I copied/pasted the APK to the system/app directory, but this didn't do anything.
Other things I tried:
- Opening all permissions to the APK that is in the system/app directory
- Rebooting
- Verifying that "allow non-market apps" is checked
- Using Root Explorer to browse to app, selecting it and choosing "install"
Nothing is working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this an incompatibility between the Task Manager "JobManager.apk" and Cyanogen?
Thanks in advance for anyone's advice.

More than likely, its an incompatibility issue between I'm assuming a 2.2 ROM and a CM7 which is 2.3.

I just downloaded Bionix v5 and at the bottom of the original post it says "add-ons" I would really like to have the Swype app since I do not like the one I currently have but Im not sure how I download those add-ons to my phone. Can someone just give me a quick explanation on how to download them?
Thanks!
Swype comes with bionix.

he means the newer one.
theres plenty of links on these forums, and you must go to system/app/ and delete anything with swype
then system/lib/
and delete swypecore.so or lib something like that.
then reboot.
then install the new swype.apk you found.
then use the swype installer to generate a licesnse and then validate it, and get the language packs.

You don't run the .apk. Just move them to the right folder. /system/app/ I think that's it. Then you can open it from the app drawer.

that + you'll probably need to change the permissions on avatar.apk (I had to do this very recently).
AFAIK, you can't use astro to change permissions (or I at least gave up trying to figure that out). Instead I had to get Root Explorer (~$4.00 or so) so I could change the permissions on the things that needed to go in system/apps.
IIRC, for avatar, you'll need to set the permissions to rw-r-r then reboot before it'll show up in the app drawer on your phone.
I just flashed the zips and they installed.

I even click on it and pressed 'install' but showing 'application not installed'. any other way to do it?

Rather then moving and setting permissions, why not just try to install like a normal app?
Tried just now and still no luck, I guess i'll have to stick w/ launcher pro then.

If both doesn't work, then you have final choice is to flash using SEUS. Make sure you backup your stuff before proceeding.

Are you shure that permissions were set right? Also, maybe SE home was "installed" but just not showing in home switcher (as I understood it is a third paty aplication?).
Maybe try to delete the default settings for launcher pro and then press home button. The dialog to chose home screen should appear.
the original app is called home.apk perhaps it needs to be called that?

I have installed several versions of CM7 and my only problem is the gallery. it really takes time to load. I have tried Forced Stop, Restart, and Did the Go Back procedure, same problem.
Wonder how I can fix it.
Did i miss anything?
you might need some script things as i am on custom stock using turboBoost by GadgetCheck+Sladimod3 and galley open faster than quickpic[reported as faster by users here]

1) Use root explorer (or any same kind of app)
2) go to data/app
3) Copy quickpic's apk file (Hint- take a look at the icons of the apk's, you'll easily understand which one is quickpic's file)
4) Paste it to system/app
5) Set permissions to
RW-
R--
R--
6) Exit from root explorer
7) Go to settings-> apps -> manage apps -> QUICKPIC -> uninstall
8) Reboot and enjoy

Hi Guys, This is my first thread here. I'm new to Android and flashing custom ROM's. I've recently bought Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 (International version). I used Siyah kernel for Dual-Booting FoxHound along with Stock ROM. I really liked FoxHound because of improved performance, beats audio etc. I've decided to flash FoxHound as only ROM on my device but I fear that it will also remove the stock samsung apps which I really find useful.

S Planner
Is there any way to get these apps on FoxHound? Sorry I couldn't find any similar post here that's why I'm asking
You could use root explorer, copy them to your sdcard and install on your new rom. Should work fine if they don't have any other dependancies.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
you need to copy them to /system/app
as long as it's a Sammy ROM, it should work
I tried that but when I copy SMemo files to system/apps using root explorer it says that the files are copied successfully but they don't... Any solution for this I guess it has something to do with the permissions

Still Not Working...
The SMemo.apk's permissions are (rw-rw-r) and to move it to system/apps the permissions should be (rw-r-r). When I change the permissions they still look unchanged...
Are you sure you've given root access to root explorer...try changing the permissions with chmod command.

I've edited their permission to rw--r--r (0644) but the apps says 'Changing Permissions was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes.'
Update: Thank you guys, I've figured it out and now its working. Can you please tell me After moving S Memo files to System/apps should i install them manually?

I was saying that launching the apk manually won't install it.
Try clearing its data and make sure it's from the same firmware version

I downloaded S Memo apk for 4.1.2 JellyBean from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969991 and that worked like charm. Thanks
I'm also looking for Stock Music Player, I downloaded apk from same link but it is not working. Again it gives a pop up saying 'Unfortunately Music player has stopped'. I tried clearing data several times but no luck. Any solution?
