Dear members,
I've just bought a MHL cable and a bt mouse. The idea was to use these two products to make my SGS II a sort of a mediaplayer.
The MHL cable is an official one from Samsung but it won't show any image on my tv. The right way to connect the phone to the tv is to use an hdmi cable and a power cable. I did that so that can't be the problem. The only thing i could think of is that my software doesn't support MHL. I'm running I9100XXLPQ Android 4.0.3 2012 March. This firmware isn't an official one in my country and it keeps showing me an icon of a software-update in my notification bar. Maybe this is the reason i can't get MHL working??? I might have to switch back to 2.3.6.??
secondly i bought a mouse (MS-Tech SM-310). The SGSII reconizes the mouse. The only thing is, only the left click and scrolling works (and off course the moving). I'd like to have the right mouse click to be the back button and if i click on the scroller it opens the settings. Is there a way to change this? Or is this different with every other mouse? If so, wich mouse does work properly?
Sorry for the bad english.
Mouse doesn't work for me on XXLPQ
Click the software notification and accept it and sign in using samsung account
subject
Not at all or just the same functions as i told about? cuz it works, but only the left-click, scrolling and offcourse moving the cursor.
And what about MHL?

and someone claims it works with only one receiver for both keyboard and mouse and that is awesome, but does anyone here with an S3 have a unifying setup on their pc and is able to try it with the S3? I don't own an otg cable yet, but if that works then I'm getting the allshare dongle cause it seems a lot more convenient. I can't understand why samsung cant have a separate micro hdmi output cause it would save us a lot of trouble.
Hi, I have a M510 mouse (5 buttons) with Unifying receiver and it's working very well, including the whell and his click, the right button is opening the menu and the thumb left-back button acts as Back button, the thumb left-upper button does nothing.
I don't have another Unifying device to test with the same receiver, but I assume that must work with it.
My phone is the unlocked German version, with last LE8 ROM.
Hey XDA
I bought myself the K400 keyboard (for use in lectures), and it works great via OTG on the S3.
My question is, as I'm in the UK, and got the UK keyboard layout K400, I was wondering if there is a setting I'm missing, in relation to having the £ € keys on SWYPE Beta.
I seem to be able to get the £ symbol with the stock samsung keyboard, but not with Swype beta (even though my languages are all set to ENGLISH UK).
Any help would be appreciated, oh and a video of the K400 will come soon !

hey bro!
That's the English UK Swype layout (which I am using too)
It is actually wrong, by swype that is, to put the $ sign in the numbers menu, rather than the £ symbol.
I might report that to Swype as an improvement lol

I know where those symbols are lol, but that doesn't help me.
As the keyboard doesn't pick up the £ sign on swype.
My video that's uploading, you'll see what i mean

I am looking to buy one of these for use with my Asus TF700 and Galaxy Note 2.
Here comes my stupid question (I'm new to android): I'm curious why you need the OTG adapter if the GS3 already has bluetooth connectivity built in. I was hoping to connect the Asus and the Note2 to my TV, then use this bluetooth keyboard while sitting on the couch. Is this possible?
Thanks for the video too

Because in this case, for me - the keyboard isn't a Bluetooth keyboard - well by that I mean, without the adaptor via OTG it won't work - be it on a laptop that has Bluetooth, or my phone.
If you have a Bluetooth speaker, keyboard or whatnot, then yes, it should work with your S3
As for your connection - I don't know if it will work or won't - google around, se what you find in relation to that, and your particular TV.

I guess I dont quite understand (sorry!). Isnt the keyboard a bluetooth device? Why cant it simply link through the internal bluetooth adapter that's built into the phone? My whole goal is to use the MHL port to connect to the TV, then use the bluetooth keyboard to control it from the couch.
From the video, it looks like you are plugging in the bluetooth transmitter into the MHL port, why is that?
Thanks for all the help!

Mine isn't - yours might be.
They keyboard only communicates to that little device, not via bluetooth.

Wow. That explains everything. I searched for "bluetooth keyboard" and just assumed all the results were bluetooth. So sorry I wasted your time, thanks for the help.

Haha no worries.
Yeah Bluetooth keyboards should work properly, although I can't attest to it.
I also have this keyboard, but with the german keyboard layout to use it with my tv (sammy es6900) and my s3, but when I plug in my keyboard over usb-otg the keyboard layout changes automatically to the standard sammy layout, wtff?

yup!
I've been getting that too now.
Hi,
I use an MHL adaptor to connect my Android device on a HDMI screen.
This is really great but it would be perfect if I could use my PC keyboard and PC mouse to control it.
I tried VNC servers and TeamViewer QuickSupport but the main problem is that I don't see the mouse pointer on my device so it's very difficult to use a mouse when you don't see the pointer ^^
Does anyone know if there is a way to remotely access an Android device from a computer and be able to see this mouse pointer on the device?
Thank you
I would also like to see how !!!
Unfortunately I don't think this is possible. At least I haven't found a way to do it myself.
On a PC it's possible with VNC so maybe it's also possible with an Android VNC server?
Also I know that an Android pointer (a circle) it's provided in Android because when I connect a mouse on my tablet I see it.
So there must be a way to use this Android pointer in a remote access way...
I use this device (MK808) daily devices, install a vnc server on android, then use vnc viewer from PC/Android/iPhone/iPad to control it. Attached are some screenshots.
you can also try using teamviewer quick support. It remotes into your android device and u get to see the full desktop on ur pc. You can initiate the connection before u connect it to HDMI.
Thank you for your ideas guys but this is not really what I want because in my case I use the HDMI output because it's really much more reactive than VNC or TeamViewer.
My only problem is that I don't see the mouse pointer so it's difficult to do anything when you don't know where your mouse is in the screen :/
I guess I'll have to buy a BT mouse and keyboard :/

Bluetooth is the best option. You can use a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, PlayStation 3 controller or the tv remote made for the PlayStation 3

I have a solution for you..
Try LANmote
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=lanmote
or use wireless USB KB/Mouse connected to your Android device.
mmm I do not think it possible, but research on the subject, hear interesting xD

This app is not a solution for me because I want to switch my screen on my Android device (with the MHL adapter) and if I use this app I need another screen for an HTML5 browser.

I can do that but my question was exactly to not have to do that.

What do you mean switch screen?
If you mean swiping the launcher or home screen, you can do it with LANmote by using multi-touch on the mobile browser or computer browser too with mouse.
If you mean switch on your MHL HDMI output, do you mean you can't do it via Android's own interface?
Do you just want to see the mouse pointer? Don't know if that will work, but in developer option (Android 4+) enable the option to see where you touch (don't remember the exact option name). By enabling it, when you touch (or use the mouse to act as a touch) it will show a little ball as a cursor.
I'd be interested in knowing if one Galaxy can control another connected via MHL in lieu of having a BT keyboard/mouse

Hi all,
I'm looking into buying a Tab S4, particularly because of its DeX function.
Can anyone confirm whether the Tab S4 works with the DeX pad, or just the USB-C to HDMI cable?
I'm wondering whether it would be possible to use it with the pad to connect a wireless mouse and keyboard receiver, rather than having to rely on Bluetooth direct to the tablet.
Thanks,
J
It i's working even without an external screen.
For DEX I use most of the time the screen miroring through wifi, easy.
Yes, there is an option to put it into dex mode without any external attachments. It only works in landscape mode though. I wish it worked in portrait mode too. I love dex and would use it exclusively.
It works flawlessly...
From what I've read it works with the DeX pad but you may encounter the error "Close cover to enable DeX Mode". If you don't have a Samsung cover the easiest way out is to go to Amazon and purchase a 7-1 or 8-1 hub. A search here should return you some links.
Just as a note, most HDMI to usb c adaptors include usb ports, and Logitech universal receivers work off them. I've used a Logitec K750 Keyboard + Anywhere MX mouse (synced to the same universal receiver). The caveat is that the logitech unifying software is not available on Android. You need to link the receiver, mouse and keyboard on a pc, and then they work on the tablet. If you want to change linked devices, you need to go back to the pc. I did notice one of the mice I tried was overly sensative, so some mice may work better than others.
Has anyone tried using Microsoft Remote Desktop Client app on this tablet? I want to know if the right click button works. Please tell me that it does I'll be really really happy. I really want to buy this tablet but I can't justify the cost unless I can use it for work instead of buying a laptop.
This really should be a new topic / new thread but...
Yes, I use MS Remote Desktop to access my work computer from home. Usually, I use the onscreen keyboard and touchscreen, which can be awkward.
But I just hooked up my USB keyboard and Bluetooth mouse, and both work fine with Remote Desktop. Right click works.
One disclaimer - I usually use MS Remote Desktop Beta, which is currently crashing every time I try to run it. I installed the released version of MS Remote Desktop and had no issues. So you might want to stay away from the RD Beta version.

Ty, just ordered it.
Just bought a used Samsung Tab S7 , factory reset it already
Was planning to use it to stream games,
Bought a HDMI Port with additional USB ports
And A Third Part Gaming Extender to Connect Mouse and Keyboard
The Third Party Gaming Extender worked fine on the USB port and communicated well with the application
The WASD movement was smooth, Mouse aims fine
When I plugged in hdmi (connected to Elgato60 a capture card that is connected to my pc)
Into my HDMI Port HowEver
The Third Party Gaming Extender still recognizes my mouse and keyboard
But the software had a hard time translating it into the game
WASD movement was butchered,
Mouse aim went reverse
Though HDMI signal is successful in displaying Tab S7 screen on my computer
My Question is what did the HDMI connection do to screw up this third party gaming software?
Is there anything I can turn off regarding HDMI side effects on other applications on my Samsung Tab S7?
Will buying a HDMI splitter fix this problem?
Thank you For reading this long post,
I really am desperate right now
i also got this and tried many thing but nth. HDMI will change tab s7 touch screen ratio and reverse. if you use nor mal mouse and keyboard no issue. but using game extender got this issue. you can't do anything on tab s7. Game extender may able to solve this issue.
