need guide for my new s2 i9100 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so day after tommorrow i am geting my new galaxy s2.i need guide abt charging battery of it on first opening..like charge to full and need of trickle charging..is dere any need of trickle charging.??and any other things dat i have to keep in mind on first go.....

Charge it like you would any other electronic device when you first get it (chances are the battery could be anything up to 60-70% charged), I.E charge it as per instructions or simply charge it fully if there aren't specific instructions. It's not exactly rocket surgery. I remember mine was 62% charged when I got it, I simply charged it to 100% while it was switched on & started using it.
So far as stuff you need to know goes, Stickies are a good place to start.

is i9100L is better han i9100???

Nope .

Yes but posters on here say they bought i9100 labelled on the box only to find its a G model . A thread on getting it swapped if its a G and you bought a i9100 .

The thing is that Samsung does there ****ty business here!
They started selling i9100g's in i9100 boxes....So by looking at the box you cant tell that if its the g version or the other one.
Fortunately when i was buying my S2 i knew of this issue...So i got the salesman to open it first and checked it out in the about phone menu.
Thankfully it was the i9100
Dude the only way to make out is if you get to open it before you buy it.
Then go into the settings about phone menu and check phone model.
God save you if its the G variant!
Best Of luck

If the jig doesnt work then you might need a JTag
http://www.jtagbox.com/riff-jtag-bo...-bricked-phone-riff-box-owners-list/#comments
there might be one close to where you live if there isnt one the list.I got one done from this list for 35 bucks.

Hi guys,
I'm also facing the same problem. Tried using the usb jig but unable to get into download mode as well. Charging the phone seems to be of no use. Screen doesn't show anything.
Any help?
Theres a jig for SGSII on eBay for £1.99. Heres the link: http://is.gd/sgs2jig
Dont forget to charge the battery before using

What happened? What did you do? I think you did something wrong as it shouldnt just randomly brick itself. And the jig should work, try buying a new one

The SGS2 is almost brick proof in my experience. The only problem you could face is if you have non official stuff and and your bin counter is not at zero they could,if they can get into it,send the back unfixed.Ive had an SGS1 fixed by a JTag as I said before and the SGS2 also can be done.So if they send it back its an option to look at.My SGS1 was my own screw up but it cost 35 euros + postage so worth it.The link is on page 1 although you might google up a place closer to home as its an old link.

[Q] Chinese phone, what model do I have?

Got a Galaxy 3, in Chongqing China. In the middle of the haggling proses (700USD) I discovered that the IMEI on the box and the phone wasn’t matching (every possible thing have to be inspected in china). The seller didn’t seem bothered by my questions about the IMEI, and told me something about Hong Kong, UK and smuggling, I didn’t really get it! After some more negotiation I got the phone down to about 500USD, and where told 700USD if I wanted same IMEI on the box and the phone.
Anyway now I want stock rom on my phone and are unsure what rom to install? This is the info I have.
Connected to Kies:
Device name: SGH-I747M PDA:LEM / PHONE:LEM /CSC:LEM (TLS)
Printed on phone (under battery):
GT-I9300
Setting- About device:
Baseband:T999UVLEM
Bulid number: romup dott com
Thanks,
Wrong IMEI probably a stolen / cloned / fake phone .
Details are not reading as a Samsung I9300 phone .
99.99% sure this is a fake or possibly a stolen USA network phone that has been customized .
jje
The model number doesn't look great, it should say i9300 not just "Samsung Galaxy S III" there's like 4 different models.
The i9300 can't receive 4G. I'm not sure why that phone has the 4G symbol because mine doesn't show that.
I checked that romup.com website and despite the look of the website I couldn't find anything saying the phone was a replica or anything like that
Hopefully you haven't bought a replica, I've seen some of the fakes that are being produced right now and oh wow.. they're 1:1 alright. They don't even suffer in terms of hardware, I've seen some models have a quad-core processor and a 8mp camera etc

I do not think it's fake, normally all fake Chinese phones fairly easy to detect. Have compared it with other s3 without finding differences. But guess its a gray market phone. Anyway do you think its possible to get a stock rom on it?

1) The box will have no IMEI
2) The screen size will not be the same (it will be big but slightly off)
3) The back of the phone/case
4) On some of the models the "Samsung" title is raised
5) It will be slightly thicker then the original S3
6) won't report correct model number
7) will not have samsung features, by this I mean the camera will not be samsung, the gallery etc etc.
There's many different models some are better then others so these ways to detect a fake are not universal, the best way is "about phone" and yours is showing signs of a fake.

Not sure about 6) and 7) you know. I have studied the rest, and every thing else leads me believe it is an original. Sim card slot is on the same spot, the screws are on the same spots..... And yes the phone is working great, but I really want the latest rom.
Just called a friend of my working for Telenor Mobil (my operator) he told me from what he could read on the network side my phone show up as Samsung SGH-T999, and the IMEI is not blocked.
What are the risk trying to install stock rom or anything else on this phone?

well i don't know what the difference between the two are but if the screen is different between the two versions, it could possibly be the kernel doesn't have the "driver" for your screen?

RAM Question

Just got my S3 last night. Rooted it, and ran TiBU successfully. My question is this. If this has 1gb RAM, why, when I go into Manage Apps and look at the running Apps, I see 712MB used, 882MB free? That adds to nearly 1.6gb. Am I seeing that right?
Coming from an Infuse, which never showed more than the 512MB max.

I can flash CF-root with Odin and its working fine. Roms from sammobile working also
It can be still a fake? Its important, pls help me!
