Best android phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm planning to buy/upgrade to a new android phone but I don't know what phone to choose. I'm wondering what's the best android phone out right now for Sprint?

I think Samsung I9100 is The best choice

Yup.. Galaxy S 2 all day!

You should wait for the HTC One X at least.. it'll be out soon

What is your budget
Well what are you looking for in a phone, the latest?, the biggest? etc
If you're on a thight budget maybe a older Samsung Galaxy S1 will fill your needs escpecially with a 4.0.3 rom from this forum on it.

I'd go with the samsung galaxy s2 personnally.
Definitely the better well-rounded high-end phone, imho.

I think HTC ONE X is best android phone

Sony xperia S

The HTC one X, only annoyance is the lcd screen.

Has to be HTC one X, Samsung Nexus or Galaxy S2 (or S3 when its out).
Or if you dont mind the size, how about the Samung Galaxy Note??
All good phones, plenty of happy users here and plenty of support as well!!!

Galaxy S2

what about samsung galaxy nexus?

I've owned the HTC Inspire, the Motorola Atrix, the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Note, and now the Galaxy Nexus, all of which I've rooted and used for extended periods of time, and I've gotta say that of all the phones I've owned, the Galaxy Nexus is my favorite. Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich is deliciously smooth D) and, though I absolutely loved my Galaxy Note's huge screen and S Pen, the 4.65" screen is still plenty big and offers a great media experience, and it's nice that you can customize the three on-screen softkeys and even add more if the new layout's not your thing. The camera's not quite up to par with the S II and the Note, but it still produces good-looking video and stills. I honestly can't make the Nexus lag no matter how hard I try, which says a lot for a six-month-old phone when compared to the brand new HTC One X that still lags and stutters despite its quad-core processor and all-around superior specs (though that's at the fault of the always increasingly bloated Sense UI, not the hardware). I'm sure that can be remedied on the One X with custom ROMs and better optimization, but if you're looking for flawless performance out of the box, the Nexus is what I'd recommend. Couple that with Sprint's new LTE network and you'll have yourself quite the badass phone. Honestly though, between the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Nexus, and the EVO 4G LTE (One X), you really can't go wrong. None of them are by any means bad phones, so just go to a Sprint store, spend 5 or 10 minutes with each of them, and take your pick, and revel in the fact that if you're not happy with your choice in 30 days it's not too late to swap it out!

I made some suggestions to another fellow who had a similar question

Go for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3

[Q:] Upgrading to Samsung Galaxy S II

I still own a HTC Hero and want to upgrade to a newer Android Phone
So after reading lotsa pages and pages, i came to the conclusion that this is the betetr phone to get.
I had the HTC EVO3D / HTC Sensation / LG Optimus 2X / LG Optimus 3D and Samsung Galaxy S II in mind, i'm not out of it complete, but as far as custom roms and future proof (i know that's a bit odd, cause it's going to fast in smartphoneland) i think the Samsung GSII is well worth the buy, 3D was more of a gimmick i wanted, but it's not really needed
So should i go for the Galaxy II, or should i take the HTC Sensation or LG 2X in consideration?
You've done the reading, you know the answer.... welcome aboard
I moved from a Desire to the Galaxy S2 a few days ago, and am loving it. For me, it was between the Sensation and Galaxy S2, but from all the reviews, the Galaxy S2 seemed to constantly edge it - plus, although I was a fan of the Sense interface on HTC phones, the latest versions felt more heavyweight, especially compared the relatively lightweight TouchWiz interface, which I thought would impact performance in the future.
Either way, they're all great phones, you'll love whatever you do go for, but I feel I made the right decision.
Well it's only 2 posts, but i'll order the Galaxy S II, seems i can't be wrong with it , at least, it's always better then my wife her iPhone 4

Good Android phone for rooting?

Well, my grandparents bought my parents, my sisters and I a Nook Tablet for Christmas, I've got the kindle app and GO! Launcher on it, and some other stuff. One of my sisters uses it non-stop, and I sold my android phone two months ago. I'm saving for an Android phone or tablet that I can root, if I get a tablet I'm most likely getting a Xoom, but I don't know what Android phones have dualcore processors, can be easily rooted and have ICS roms. My max price is $500, I think I can save up that much.
Thanks,
Mephikun
My answer would either be either the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, or the Samsung Galaxy SII. The nexus because it is from the "nexus" line which is mostly for developing and customizing. I would also say the Nexus S but the only problem are the specs, which is a single core and not nearly as powerful as the two I have mentioned. The SII because it is still superior to the Galaxy Nexus in specs, but only that it does NOT have stock Ice Cream Sandwich. But with XDA's forums, custom roms have already been seen and experimented with. The Galaxy Nexus may be a bit over 500$ new but i believe that the SII is around 500$ or less.
Thank you. I will def. consider the SII (don't have a job sice I'm not old enough), but I can' tafford the nexus I'll leave this open
I agree with Dataslycer. The Galaxy Sll and Galaxy Nexus are among the greatest android phones out right now. Although I'd recommended Galaxy Nexus over the Sll, simpily because of the Nexus line it comes from. Upgrades first and whatnot is always nice. If those two phones are a chunkload too much hit up the Nexus S. I'm using it on ICS amd even though it's about a year old it is still brilliant AND a Nexus phone

htc evo 3d is also good.....
Motorola Defy
Is a very good phone for rooting and has a lot of options for Custom ROMs here in XDA..
Only drawback would be a 4" display compared to competition.
Else Defy rocks
look to the right side of the main page of this website (xda-developers.com).
you will see a small square that says POPULAR DEVICES, the galaxy s 2, galaxy nexus and the galaxy s 1 are almost ALWAYS at the top 3 positions.
shows how massive development is for these three devices.
and rooting any of those three is super easy because of samsung's great attitude towards devs. (they even gifted galaxy s 2's to cyanogenmod's devs)
The Samsung Galaxy S2 will be a very good choice!
I would suggest an EVO4G , I know some people will tell you it's old new. But it's still one of the Best and most versatile devices out there. With a ton of development still going on. Also, fairly cheap to pick up price wise.
Having access to both the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, I would say you can't go wrong with either option.
Sure, the Galaxy Nexus is dual core and has that wonderful 720p screen, but it is also a lot of phone to hold in your hand and 4G eats battery like no tomorrow. I still love it, though.
If I had to find something cheaper today I would track down a Nexus S. It runs Android 4.0 just fine and is much easier to find ROMs and mods for (right now). It also runs on any US wireless carrier except Verizon, while only Verizon has the Galaxy Nexus (today).
I have the Galaxy SII. It's a great phone and it's so easy to root and install roms.
I had an EVO 4g, but the GSII is a much better and faster device.
I have a Droid X and i rooted it two days ago, so easy, even though the Droid X is like a phone of the past already i still think its a great phone.
Galaxy S II. Or GNexus for Verizon/non-Tmobile AWS carrier. Get a Samsung.

I agree galaxy nexus is a great phone. But 35% of consumer dont like 4.3 to 4.6 inches devices. So , nexus s is great phone to get if you like 4 inches. Personally, single core vs dual cores is ridiculous only root mod will care. And, fyi android 4.0 os run fine with single core, not to many apps runs dual core. Their more exclusive apps to xperia play and tegra 2 then dual core. Unless game developers play favorite i wont single core dying anytime soon.

Help me soon

MOTOROLA ATRIX 4G , MOTOROLA DROID RAZR , SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE , GALAXY S2 , GOOGLE NEXUS S 4G AND GOOGLE NEXUS S , which one should i buy , made more than 5-6 hours of comparison, review , still confused
Start by eliminating everything Motorola as it is junk. Galaxy s 2 or galaxy nexus.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
I would say Galaxy Note, but that depends on you liking a
5 inch mammoth of a phone. Outside of that, Galaxy
Nexus or SII would be my next choices.
Thanks for the reply ...
fine dude , if i opt for samsung which one should i go for it ? i can go upto $650 not more than that . r8 now am using motorola defy and am very much pleased with that , will take your comments as my buying option .
Motorola makes decent phones hardware wise, but they lock the bootloaders, install tons of bloatware and make your phone model obsolete in a few months.
Samsung galaxy S 2, why ? Cause i have him! Best phone.

Moving to Q&A
I think the Galaxy SII is the better android phone now. If you want to want to hack him, there is a lot of ROM availables. Some of my friends have it, the screen is very good, and the battery life seems to be pretty decent too. It's a powerful, and beautiful. Take it
Thanks for the reply ...
guess i made this post in Q and A only !
and above now the options are S2 or nexus or note ?
Just as a note (no phone pun intended) if you go with the S2 I'd personally recommend trying to get one that's more standard GSM, international version for example avoid the Samsung Epic 4G Touch if possible, it has a bigger screen, but it's not as compatible as the other variants are... the GSM versions seem to have more ROM options, I guess maybe it's due to the CDMA modem in the E4GT, but there isn't even a full-compatible release of Cyanogenmod for the E4GT and the official ICS isn't out for it either. I have the E4GT and I really like it, but I bought it thinking Cyanogenmod was already out for it, but it was only available for the other SG2 models. The same might be true for Skyrocket? Just something to think about.
I surely would buy Sgs II.
I own a Galaxy S. My bro has a Sgs II and i felt in love with his phone. ABSOLUTELY GREAT.
Galaxy Nexus is awesome too but i didnt saw it in person
no choice
hi, i got samsung galaxy 2 (sgs2) for almost half a year - couldnt be happier!!!! my friends with nexus and motorolla are sorry they didnt get my phone. I suggest to get either sgs2 or samsung note depending on the size you are comfortable with as they are practically identical aprt from the screen size.
Also, dont forget that sgs3 will be out in few month and 3d phones are about to start their crusaide.
Go to gsmarena.com and do a comparison (under the photo of the phone on th eleft click on COMPARE) with any of the phones and by spec sg2 will will - by user experience as well @gsmarena.com/[email protected]
hope it helps...

Thinking of selling my S II for a Galaxy Nexus

Opinions? What I'll miss from S II, is the Super Amoled Plus. :S But Galaxy Nexus has an HD, wich I adore. I watch movies/anime etc. Also, can anyone explain me what pentile is?
ask yourself if 16GB storage will be enough for your movies etc, comparing to 16GB+64GB for the S2
Pentile: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PenTile_matrix_family

to be honest, at a sie by side comparison between my sII and the galaxy nexus, i prefer my sII, it feels more sharp and up to date somehow, and it is more powerful that the Galaxy Nexus, not saying the Nexus isnt nice, its very nice, just doesnt feel or look quite as nice as my sII... the screen is cool, but im not exactly squinting to see on mine, superAMOLED plus on the sII is something to behold, it is the best by far, i would wait and see what the sIII brings to the game if anything, everything the galaxy nexus can do bar NFC (on most models) the sII can do, i wouldnt sell it for anything
EDIT: will add i am running ICS LPB on my SII, and it is fantastic, smooth as butter
i've made the switch to the Nexus. much better screen. feels better too in hand. the development is also at lightning speed on the nexus, youre always getting the purest and latest. i would say that you try it out yourself, do some side by side comparisons, then you can make the decision.
ive never looked back
if you think 16gb isnt enough, you could also consider the 32GB GSM version: http://www.expansys.com/google-galaxy-nexus-32gb-black-224348/
Hitching for a new device? Waite for the GSIII!
IF your ORD is that bad, then go get a nexus. Shoo! *wave*
I´d never switch my SG2 for nexus...
Waiting for SGIII!!!
I actually got a nexus, and after one week sold it and went back to my
galaxy s2.
The things that I liked on the nexus, were the screen, audio quality, call quality, mic quality, overall smoothness of the ui, the feel of the device, and how all drivers are open for all the hardware on the device.
But, the s2 is just faster (even with ics), the blacks are blacker, camera is much better, and live wallpapers don't lag the device. Also, I didn't realize how useful some of the touchwiz features are until I didn't have them. I like having so many options for roms.
After much deliberation, I ended up deciding to keep my s2 and wait for the s3, but you may have different opinion.

You're not going to find many people here who will suggest you switch to a Galaxy Nexus; most people who wanted a Nexus have already jumped ship. For videos, the extra resolution isn't even that big a deal--it's much more relevant for small text. Compared to my brother's CDMA Nexus, I prefer the color reproduction of the GS2 screen, though I do think the Nexus feels nicer in hand with its curved shape.
wait for sgs3, it will have amoled HD + screen and also buttonless design, so more screen space to enjoy movies
wait for the sgs3
its just around the corner
Although it is a matter of personal preference, I would stay stay with your SGS2 for now. There is a difference between the Galaxy Nexus and SGS2, but its not that different and its slightly difficult to say that the Nexus if better than the SGS2 all around. With a lot of new phones announced and new one coming (MWC 2012), best to stick with the SGS2. Within a few months, plenty of phones will have ICS and there will be phones that are much better than the SGS2 and Galaxy Nexus.
Skip Nexus and get the Galaxy Note instead. You'll never look back.
nexus or gs2? easy decision...gs2. as for the note...lol is all i will say ..
The dude abides....
Do some research and you'll find out most people who switched to Nexus say it feels slower than SGS2.
I'm not planning on replacing my s2 yet (pretty happy with it, especially with ics lpb ) but if i would loose it today i will probably buy a galaxy note to replace it. The galaxy nexus is a nice device but IMO both the sgs2 as the note are better
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
If it's a better screen you're looking for, I'd say it's better to take a look at the Galaxy Note rather than the Galaxy Nexus.. I'm going to sell my wifes Nexus S and buy a Galaxy Note while she will take over my Galaxy S2..

What Android To Get?

Originally, I had the original Galaxy S, and I loved it. But, it broke, and I decided to go to the iPhone 4S. I loved the android processing system so much, and I favor it much more than iOS. I'd like opinions on what android phone to get now, I'm looking at the Galaxy Nexus, and a little of the Galaxy S II, but I'm open to suggestions.
If it matters, I have Sprint service.
Hello,
I really dont know what device to buy too.
I would like S3 or Nexus, but they are so expensive. Explainning, S3 is really new, got a hardware of dreams, but not for me, my money yet. For people who likes test rooms, will be have to wait a long time, yet.
Nexus, is dual core, worst camera and no expansion slot sd card. Looking for price, is lowest than S3 so much. The only advantage is software update.
I think that S2 is better for price and have a good hardware. Run Cyanogen so good, like a pure google. But my question is, is this the most device for develop yet? How long does developers will focus on that? Is it a good system?
I would wait for the Galaxy s III
Utube meizu mx. There's a 21 min review. Its great n better specs then the above vote.
