Hi,
Can anyone confirm if I9100 production is stopped by Samsung globally and now replaced by I9100G everywhere? Any US/UK guys can show proof that February 2012 or later manufactured I9100s are available?
This is very important information for me. Please help.

I9100 of any sort was never sold in the US - we got the I777, which is still on the market. (I777 is much closer to I9100 than I9100G is.)
And the I9100G was never sold in many countries. India seems to be one of the only countries to get the G, and I wouldn't be surprised if Sammy stopped shipping non-G units to India.
why are there even that many different versions?
what differs between them, hardware or software?
can it be, that i too got another one than the i9100 i ordered?
when i plug it to my computer it says i9100, so it has to be that one, right?
i'm confused...

Good question as in why so many different this that and the other . Generally its all to do with the market they sell into and often price points .

But which i9100 ??
Under the battery is what your phone is on the label .

To be 100% sure remove the battery and check the sticker on the phone. I think the box also has the model number at the bottom.

Unfortunately it has been reported by some consumers that their box stated model number "GT-I9100", but the handset contained within the box itself, was model GT-I9100G.
Which is straight fraudulent, in my opinion.

I gave it in chennai service center. I gave the complaint on 19 jan 2012 and they said they would replace my phone with in 10 days ..after that they dint respond to my mail or call back...i sent them 20+ mails !then finally sent them a message that i9100g has problems such as camera failed and bla bla ..they called me and said that they processed my complaint 2months ago and they asked me to come and collect i9100 from service center !i dont have any mails ..bcos everything was telephonic conversation !i got a new sealed box with new IMEI number !worst part is they dint change IMEI number in my bill !now i have to go back and ask them..
So you never submitted I9100G right? Can you post a pic of your Galaxy I9100 box with its manufacturing date/Import date? Its on the side. I would be very thankful.

Dear Friends,
Do you know when will be the release of SGS2 in the Arabic region?
If they release it can I take that ROM and install it on SGS2 which was bought in the UK? This is the case that I have.
Kind regards,
Sul
Any help??
Any updates on this?
Going by previous releases of htc and samsung phones here in the middle east i would say it will be the end of the year when it is released for the middle east and africa market...i may be wrong though.

Hi all,
I am from India and I am planning to buy a Samsung galaxy s2 model from Pune, India.
I have recently read on internet that in India, the Samsung galaxy s2 model available is the i9100G instead of i9100 [ which is the original and better one]. So I am confused, what to do? Should I go with the G variant or not?
What I have heard is that the G variant is not much supported and comparatively less in performance than the i9100 model. I may be wrong and that's why I am here asking for your help.
Please let me know what to do? Plus, if anyone on this forum is from Pune and knows where I can get the SGS2 i9100 model, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your answers...
Well I think the i9100G comes with NFC unlike the i9100.
But if you're more interested in software flashing or development you're better with i9100 since it has more support.

Where the heck do you get your info?
In another thread, you said LPQ was a later build than LP7. (which is not right)
As far as I know, I9100G does NOT have NFC out of the box. I9100G is similar to the I9100, but has different SoC/chipset. (I9100G has OMAP4430 CPU, and PowerVR SGX 540 GPU.... whereas I9100 has Exynos CPU, with Mali GPU. This is why firmwares are not compatible between the two)
I9100P has NFC added out of the box, but is otherwise the same as the I9100 in terms of CPU/GPU.

No its the P that has NFC. The G has a different GPU and chipset to the regular 9100, making all the standard i9100 roms incompatible.
Buy the IG9100... Will have better support and you can find more help here for any issues encountered..
Thanks a lot guys for your replies. Even I want to buy the i9100 model, but seems that in India that model is not available. And the pathetic things is that Samsung is selling i9100G models in the i9100 box. This case has happened with 2 of my friends and even there is no replacement guarantee at the moment for them.
Here is a website for that reference which shows the i9100 box and i9100G model inside: knowmydroid.com/blog/samsung-galaxy-s2-i9100-vs-i9100g-difference
I really need to check the piece thoroughly before buying it. Anyone know any store or place in Pune where I can buy the original version i9100 ?
Thanks in advance
Mate i m from india too
Don't listen to the fools who say i9100G is better
its total money waste(some games not working, camera problems,no ice cream sandwich,no development, not sgs2 really just a phone looking like sgs2 and i9100G is weaker)
Buy a second hand i9100 or new Galaxy Note(only 1k difference on ebay.in)
Thanks for the reply man. So is it like a brand new model of Samsung galaxy s2 i9100 is NOT AVAILABLE in India at the moment? Even in official Samsung stores?
That would be really bad if that's the case...

Yes and believe me note is much better than i9100G

Big problem with G is very little development for it compared to i9100 .

I think the reason for this is that G is sold in India only or few parts of the world while the international versions are already in around 20-M units...

Exactly! And that's the reason why the people in India are finding it much more difficult to buy the original version of S2 which is i9100.
The shop/mall owners in India are saying that the Samsung has stopped the production of i9100 piece and that's the reason why we are selling i9100G nowadays.
Is it the truth that Samsung has stopped production of i9100 model? Or is it only for Indian market and in the rest of the places there are still new i9100 models available?
dude buy a i9100 model, you can find more support and devs here on xda.

no samsung didnt stoped production, its just that samsung india is allowed or whatever reason is selling 9100G officially.
you have to buy used or one that is imported. im sure one of the stores must have newimported international i9100. you might not get the warrenty though.
Yeah, I am planning for that only. One more thing is that I visited a local mobile store yesterday. And amazingly, they have the i9100 model available, at least the box says so and I have seen the product code as well and it ends with AINU instead of GINU [for i9100G model].
But the thing I found a bit weird is that the manufacturer was said to be from China? That's new for me. I have heard that SGS2 has been manufactured majorly in Korea or Vietnam, but not sure about china? Is is fine to buy the Galaxy S2 manufactured in china?
Please advice...!!!

Yeah buddy. At least the box says that it's i9100 manufactured and imported by China. The manufactured date is also of August 2011. So may be there is a possibility that this one is from the old stock and not the new production. But that shouldn't be any problem, Isn't it?
Any idea, which Android version I will be getting if its manufactured and imported in August 2011? Just curios...

But is it fine to install the ICS right away after buying it? Or should I spend some time playing with the device as I am not pretty much used to android devices as such.
What would you suggest? Should I go for the ICS update right away? Or I should wait for sometime and then get to it slowly and steadily?

Hey guys,
I live in New Zealand and recently bought a black s3 several weeks ago from a parallel importer as the shops here only sell pebble blue and white.
As it is imported how can i find out which country code software I should be using.
I received several device manuals and one was in Croatian, but there are other language manuals in the box too.
In kies my firmware version has a "(SEE)" at the end of it. eg. ends with "CSC:LK4 (SEE)"
Please help somebody

Awesome cheers for that!
Do note however, this only shows what firmware is on your phone right now. It is not necessarily the original. Give me your phone for a minute and I can make it say various different places, including NZ.
It makes no difference what country your phone is originally from mate.
Just go to Sam Mobile and download the latest Official NZ firmware and flash with Odin. Then it'll be exactly the same as any phone you buy over the counter from Vodafone/Telecom NZ.

Hi,
Maybe this can be of use for you if you don't want to send your phone back but are sleeping with a popcorn bag on your phone at night.
This is official from Samsung and it is to check if your phone falls in the faulty category, or if you can sleep in peace at night.
IMEI check for Note 7
Would be interesting to see how many of you come back with a faulty and not faulty device. Post your results in the thread and vote!
THIS CHECK MIGHT NOT BE ACCURATE AS IT MIGHT ONLY BE HK PHONES - TEST TO SEE IF YOU GET A FAULTY DEVICE
Mine's from Vietnam and says is not in the affected range.
How accurate is this for anyone outside of the areas listed?

I think it is international. But only replacements can happen in the mentioned areas. I see some German site also talking about it.
But i think we should see if it is valid only for HK, if someone that tests it here has a faulty device, that would mean it works internationally. I saw somewhere that the issue effects 1 out of 42'000 phones sold.

This is only valid for phones bought in Hong Kong.
You can put your IMEI in but it will say it's not affected even if it might be as the check is only done on HK models sold within HK itself.

If that's the case, they should have said "invalid imei" or "imei not found"?
Tried mine and it just say to visit the service center.
So I expect my Note 7 to burn anytime soon?

My guess is that in HK you can buy phones manufactured in China as well as Vietnam and Korea. If you happen to have a Chinese phone, your IMEI is listed as safe, otherwise it suggests to bring the phone in for an exchange. Again, it's only a guess...
this tools for international to i thing, thats why this tools come from samsung website, not only for china, you cant test your emei for faulty or not, great tools, they trace your device only put in emei, you all cant try

If it was as easy as this then Samsung would be advertising it. I don't trust this at all. Fact is, Samsung have already said they can't trace the phones.
I still hope the replacement Note 7 comes with Gorilla Glass 4 Not 5 and they are recalling it in fact because of how easily it scratches.
Mine says "Not Affected".
But i will return my phone tomorrow.
Don't trust this test it's not true. At least for international devices
Try to put false imei and you'll see the same results.
Of course try logical number.
