are there any desktop docks that will work with the boxwave tpu style case? i would love a desktop dock, but dont want to keep taking the case on and off..
Not to my knowledge. There are only 3 docks to my knowledge and I dont think any of them work except with the thinnest of cases, and even that is tight squeeze from what I undertand. If you are a DIYer, there is alot of instructions online from the simple "ugly but it works" to rather complex ones. I'm working on instructions on making a custom car dock utilizing the dock parts from my samsung vibrant desk dock, perhaps if I ever get all my parts in the mail I'll finish it and you can modify that to work on a desk (something I'm already brainstorming on doing next)
I've got one that is working for me with the Momax Case (I think it's similar in size/shape to the boxwave)
We were talking about it in this thread

Ok so I took the plunge and ordered a "G" to replace my iPad... I know I'll be needing a SD card (obviously) and am wondering what brand and class the majority of you use. I'll be using mine for storing videos and music... possibly running a few apps off too. Anyone have any really cool cases they have found and would like to suggest? Any tips and or links would be greatly appreciated.
My list
A folding stand eBay link here
A nice case Amazon link here
Screen protector and rear skin Skinomi link here
Case with keyboard eBay link here
Game controller Link here
Dock and custom case Thread link here
previous post covers most accessories well. just want to add that you may want to tweak or flash a new rom your new g tab once you get it, full instructions even for a newb are here on xds for the process

These are all great. A few alternates:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004JF9N1O/ref=oss_product - Same case with keyboard listed above, for about the same price, but through amazon. Also ships incredibly quickly (I got mine in 2 days from the date of purchase).
http://www.gotshadeonline.com/products-page/tablets/viewsonic-g-tablet/ - A much cheaper version of the carbon fiber vinyl back covers from Skinomi...also, made by an XDA member!
I would recommend going to a craft store and getting a dish stand. I got a wooden one that folds and it workz great for holding the tablet. Plus it under 9 dollars
Great list, I appreciate it... have any of you used that keyboard case? How is it on the battery? I would think that it would really shorten its life, but then again I know bluetoon really hits the iPads and my current android phone too. So maybe this would be better. What are your thoughts?

I have everything on the list I provided except for the Malata case. This usb keyboard case does the job. When you get it you may have to move the left tab down or remove it completely as it may block access to the usb port on your gTab. Some users have said that if you tell the seller you need the one for the gTab they may send you a case that already has the left tab moved down.
With that said, these cases shouts "CHEAP". It is made of shiny plastic pleather. The keyboard is also not coated with silicone so it can rub against the screen of your gTab and damage it. Finally, the case doesn't feel secure. It feels like the tablet is moving around a lot. Some users have added velcro to their gTabs and the case to hold it more securely. It does come in handy when you need to type a lot. It doesn't seem to draw the battery much at all.
As for wireless keyboards, some users have had success with wireless bluetooth and usb keyboards especially the ones that use a dongle plugged into the usb port.

Seems like a great price. Not sure if it fits the GTablet exactly, but turns out this guy is based like 5min from my house, so I can always return it to him if its not good.
Anyone have any opinions on this?
you could always "ask a question" to get the dimensions. I'd be afraid that it will stick out the sides
Almost definitely not actual leather (I hate deceptive descriptions) and there doesn't seem to be any visible way to actually ATTACH the tablet to the thing. Horrible picture details, and it is highly unlikely a single case could hold (well) a 7/8/10 inch tablet PC like the seller says.
I would pass on that one. Just go to electroniccrap.com or look for listings here for the ones MADE for the G-tablet.

There seem to be 2 clips on the bottom and 1 on the top to hold it. Most cases come with 1 (or 2 ) more clips on the side. Without this there is a chance of the tablet sliding out through the sides. Although once you have side tabs you have to be careful that they dont block the usb port.
Also you *have* to check the dimensions

It is $ 24.99 but will take 2 weeks or more to get to you.
don't waste your money
I've had one of these before. They are really cheap looking and are not leather but a shiny slippery plastic. It is not recommended for use in a professional setting unless you enjoy people laughing at you. There is a thread in this accessories section that covers this case at length. Search for USB keyboard case.
Also, the tablet does not stay firmly in the case and will slip around a lot and may even fall out.
Avoid this case like a dirty diaper.

LOL, you and me have different priorities! I'm not buying this to wow people and I'm really not concerned about people laughing at me. I am concerned about the tablet not fitting tho. Either way, this case would only be for when I wanted a keyboard with me, which is not all the time (otherwise I'd stick to my netbook which is about the same size as the tab+keyboard case).
When I'm going on a trip, plane ride, camping, etc, and this will be the only thing I have access to when traveling light, I like the idea of a keyboard option. But that's another thing to carry, so I'd rather it be built into the case. But the rest of the time, a thinner classier case (like the Kindle DX ones) would be preferable to me, especially to sit and read in portrait orientation.

That's a really great find, and for $4 more than this ebay auction, you are vouching for the fit! Do you have any pictures of your G-tablet fitting into that case?

Dont have pics, but it fits (it is made for the gtablet),
Some info/pics are at

goodintentions had a video review for his, on that thread but the link does not seem to be working.
I need a keyboard rarely, when I am typing out a big email. It is functional for that purpose. Some minor cons as I see are
1. Even with tabs on 3 sides, it can slip out of the 4th side, so you have to hold it right. Am thinking of adding a Velcro strip on the 4th side.
2. The leather is suspect, and it stunk up my room for a few days after I opened it.
3. It adds quite some weight.
4. Have to reboot the gtablet after connecting the keyboard most times for it to work.
5. The keyboard connects to the big USB, the small USB is covered by the left tab. But I rarely use that when it is in the case.
But it is $25, the USB cable length is fine, and it does have a magnet for the USB cable !!!
I bought one of these cases off ebay, just waiting for it to arrive. I bought one "specifically" made for the gtablet, with the tabs not blocking the usb port. I know I could of had one for less, but would have had to mod the case to fully work with the gtablet. I was actually looking at the one OP posted to save a few bucks, but I didn't like the way the case was designed, with no tabs to hold the tablet in place on the sides.
Looking for recommendations for a case for my gtab with built in keyboard. I think I prefer USB over bluetooth cause I am not sure of the bluetooth capabilities of some of the custom ROMs. I am currently running clems beast ROM. Thoughts anyone?
Hi there. So this is the one I own, and it is GREAT! Matter of fact, me and 4 other people in my research group all use this case with our G-tablet for our lab computers. The case is great, the keyboard works great and its USB so you can easily plug and unplug whenever you wish. The case can even fold completely around to use as a basic tablet. And the kickstand sets up the tablet at a great angle for typing
The only negatives I can tell you if you want to hear them are as follows. I'm not sure if its still a problem, but back in the day when I got my case, one of the 4 metal tabs that held the tablet in place was accidentally placed over the USB port and you had to cut a hole in it to make sure it would fit in. It wasn't a big deal and took a minute to cut a hole out, but I heard it was an accident and why we got ours so cheap and its since been fixed. The only other negative is that the keyboard is like 90% the size of a normal keyboard so you just have to get used to the smaller size.
Overall the pros of this case significantly out weigh the negatives and I recommend this case highly. I actually just bought a G-Tablet for my mother for christmas so she can have a Honeycomb tablet as well, and bought this case for her to.
Here's the link, hope it works out for you: http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-G-Tablet-Case-Keyboard-Stand/dp/B004JF9N1O

Have a try www.electroniccrap.com there are many accessories for GTAB
I actually ordered this case, but it sounds like it is a little different than the one you got. None of my ports is blocked. The case and keyboard are sufficient. The tabs do not really keep the tablet in place securely. I was able to get around that by putting velcro on the back of the tab and the the case. Also the usb cord really has no place to go, when not in use. Again i fixed that with some simple velcro. All in all this is a good case for $30.
I saw this case for the TFP from minisuit and was wondering if anyone was using it. It says it allows for the keyboard to be attached while the tablet is still in the case.
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Transfor...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329771405&sr=1-4
seems interesting
$14 bucks, seems decent to try
i ordered one
will report when i get it
curious how well it fits and protects the dock. Appears to be a slim option. Unfortunate it comes from minisuit as they take very very long to ship. Over 10 days in both of my instances
Anybody actually using this one? I noticed that they changed their advertising for it recently. It no longer lists the cutout for the keyboard...
The Google cache version of the site can be brought up to show the old wording. (Can't post links yet)
this case doesn't protect the dock, it just allows dock use since the bottom clips can be detached, which allows you to slide it into the dock. I don't own this, but I own a case that is exactly the same.
This is the exact same case as the Moko/poetic/vipertek versions:
http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Slim-Fit-Multi-Angle-Transformer-10-1-Inch/dp/B0063Q3G3I/
http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Stand-Leather-Angle-Adjustable/dp/B006PWGESY/
http://www.amazon.com/VIPERTEK-Premium-Leather-Transformer-10-1-Inch/dp/B006OZTNIK/
These are made by some factory in China and Moko/Minisuit/Vipertek/Poetic/etc just buy a big lot of them, brand them with their logo and sell them as their own. Good price on it though and a more established brand name than some of the other no-names rebranding this case, so it seems like a win/win.
With regard to the keyboard being used with the case on, many have reported that the keyboard can be used with the case on. The dock rests on the top of the leather lip and it makes it a tiny bit more top heavy than it already is but if you have your hands on the dock typing it doesn't really matter. You can fold the case backwards to prevent it from resting on the lip but you need a fair amount of desk space for that to be an option.
Just ordered mine...should be here in a few days!
with complete frsutration in no keyboard case looking to ever be made for my purchase of the top tablet at the time the Galaxy Pro i have ended my search and somewhat happy.
my first purchase after exhausting months of hoping and searching led me purchase the M-Edge Stealth which upon setting up was the most impressive 3rd party universal i had ever seen. i see no reason to go into all the details that had me loving this case because very quickly i discovered it had 1 flaw that completely killed it. one of the greatest features was t he magnet safe strap and the base was magnet as well and sadly this caused the Pro to go to sleep every time i would touch it. if you push it up in the holsters it was fine but touching it or moving it and it would slide down just a hair and that hair caused the magnets to put it to sleep. i spent some time since it was such a great case trying to make it work but with much sadness i had to return it.
my next purchase and what i am staying with is the Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 and at this pricxe i can live with the few things i would change.
quick review:
- keyboard types nice and almost all the keys for Home , Settings, Volume, Web, Music, work and go to the app i desired. it also seems to autoconnect after casing it up and opening it back up again so functionaly it is very nice
- case sadly is not a nice leather feel like the M-Edge and although not bad it feels kinda like it might carck eventually like cheap fake leather can do but only time will tell
- it is in no way as thin as the M-Edge and much bulkier than he 11" laptop i would carry but not ridiculous to me
- it has large and small corners with velcro to allow to place it wherever on the back plate that holds it which is different put nice and allows some positioning to what you like. i will say though that i was going with the small angles anyway but the large were on it and one ripped as i tried to take it off and so i know now how to handle them.
- the Logitech or Zagg of my dreams would not have allowed me to take the keyboard out and place it where i like and i see the value in this now as well
- there is no camera hole on the back put it does state that you can cut it out and they thought of this but since i dont use the back camera for anything i dont mind
anyway hope this helps out another 10.1 like me that has been frustrated with no top of the line model available.

yeah i looked at one of those but what i dont like about it:
- the kickstand - this limits position placement where the Kensington allows from straight up with keyboard in case to almost flat and stays in any position between them
- the full edge holster - i like to see the tablet with minimum corners or preferably which only comes with ones made specifically for the tablet that it snaps into place with almost no edge
- the keyboard is large with the big palm area and it does not have all the Android specific keys to launch everything which allows me to rarely touch my screen
i am not saying it isnt nice but it wasnt what i was looking for and i doubt there is an option out there i didnt research. thanks for the info though and maybe its something others might like
Samsung has neglected the Tab Pro 10.1
Its these disappointing products that brought me to just buy a stand alone keyboard option. After almost a year of traveling around the country with my Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, throwing it in my backpack between classes, and carrying it around to camping trips and etc. I've decided that its a little too late to purchase a case or keyboard folio at this point.
Samsung really did their customers wrong by not producing a suitable keyboard/case for the galaxy tab pro 10.1. At the very list they could have worked with 3rd parties to produce these options.
