[Q] cant unlock bootloader or flash stock rom htc legend help - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI hope someone can help me with this, i have tried without success to unlock my bootloader, i have updated to hboot 1.02 but when i try to do the fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin it sits at 0percent and doesn't move and no errors, i've tried this with my goldcard in and out of the phone and with cyanogen and b08 roms, also for some reason i can't flash the stock rom so i can get the required update from htc(thinking that's y the unlock code won't go), i've tried getting numerous ruu's and i was getting signature verification fails every time, i tried with windows the exe and also exracted the rom.zip and still no luck, i prefer using linux and adb though and tried numerous ways to get this to work with no success, i've also tried signing a rom.zip and the phone just says no signature, also tried renaming to LEGEIMG.zip and update.zip and just can't flash stock rom, also made a new goldcard thinking the other was bad and did the htcdev for the unlock code with a goldcard and without, also tried the ruu.exe in windows with new said goldcard and i think the other was bad because i get a different error now for reason it can't update my rom(was using the rom i originally rooted with which has sense). it says wrong bootloader version when i try and update, anyone know what i can do, i'm running outta ideas, thanks in advance

I Unlocked my bootloader with HTCdev. You said you tried. What went wrong?
If you have updated your phone to one of the ruus HTC gives you ( execute the exe ), there shouldn't be any problem : the HTC guide is clear and easy. If you have successuffly unlocked the bootloader, now you have to flash the clockwork recovery.

when i go to fastboot it stays on copying at 0 percent with the unlock_code.bin....My phone has root access before i ran the hboot update and still does but i can't flash the new ruu, it won't allow me to, i tried running the htc ruu and it fails with can't update, bootloader version incorrect, i tried with the b-08 rom, i can't get back to stock

Have you tried flashing this? ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497357
If you don't install one of the updates given by HTC, bootloader unlock won't work. If you have the same problems that I had ( my Legend also wasn't rooted ) the RUUs won't install, right? I flashed first this one and then one of the HTC RUUs and after this everything worked perfectly.

nope, i didn't try that one yet, but the thing is my legend was rooted before i tried flashing these htc ruus, i just want my bootloader unlocked, i had cyanogen on it then flashed a rooted one with sense (b08) thinking that would let me update but it didn't, so i'm downloading that one you pointed me to now, i'll try and flash it and let you know how it goes.

When i flash that rom i get a main version is older error when i rename it to LEGEIMG and flash it via fastboot, what can i do now?

I followed Blayo's guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22613990&postcount=62 with my already rooted Legend. Try to follow exactly. You said using a gold card - don't think this is even necessary. At least I did not use one, and it is working perfectly.
After flashing the new bootloader, did you really unlock?
(last step of guide above: follow the instructions on HTCdev from Step 8 to unlock)

Wait, all the RUUs you have to flash before unlocking are HTC's executable files ( .exe ). You have updated your phone executing them, haven't you? After that I just rebooted my phone to fastboot and connected it. I found the unlock code, sent it to HTCdev, received an e-mail with the file to complete unlock and then unlocked. I never used anything like UPDATE.zip or LEGEIMG. I tried following the BlaYo's instructions but they didn't work for me. I just did what HTC said ( easyer and safer ).

hmmmmm

keyboard error?!

i solved my problem, i sold the phone and bought another legend. LOL, no seriously though, i did sell it and got another but i tried everything and couldn't unlock bootloader, i tried the exe files from htc, tried extracting the zip files, tried fastboot and renaming to LEGEIMG, just couldn't get it unlocked, so i flashed the latest cyanogen 7.2 and sold the darn thing, now i got another and made 50$ in the process as i bought the new one 50$ cheaper and i'm going to go through the htc channels to unlock the bootloader but does anyone know if i'll be able to flash cm7 after i do that?

bootloader

What do you mean with 'rooting again'? Once you have unlocked bootloader, you are able to flash a recovery, and then CM, which is rooted. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24102979 for latest Recovery and latest CM7.2 builds

Ok just to update i flashed the HTC dev bin file again and had restore cm7 backup and bootloader is unlocked once again.

got her goin good now, unlocked bootloader with htcdev, fastboot flashed cwm, then i was able to flash cm7.2 and gapps no problem at all, now if we could only s-off the legend???

For what reason? It's quite similar

Because it's still not totally unlocked

After unlocking boot loader:
1. Use htcsupertoolv3 to root
2. Install rom manager and titanium backup
3. Run titanium backup. It will ask you to update su. accept (i'm not sure if this step is required, but this is how i done it)
4. Copy recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-legend to your Android folder created during bootloader unlock
5. With your phone on fastboot mode open terminal in your PC android folder and type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-legend.img
Your phone will go to recovery mode.
6. Reboot your phone in normal mode
7. From now on, each time you want to go into recovery, use rom manager
Done

So for what I have understood from HTCdev, you can do everything similar to S-OFF, with one exception: you cannot unlock a SIM lock.

True, you can't. I'm not sure if flashing a custom rom will unlock it, as my phone sim card was unlocked from very beginning. Probably not?

unclock bootloader using HTCDEV

Hello,
I was successful in unlocking HTC sensation using HTCDEV's tools but for my HTC Flyer i got the error:
INFO[ERR] Command error
when i did fastboot oem get_identifier_token
its BestBuy's HTC Flyer which i believe Flyer (WWE Wi-Fi) isn't it ?
I got the same behavier on my XP/ Windows 7 machine as well,
Could it be the problem that I'm in S-Off stage so that the upgrade failed ?
Happy on the HC roms ? are all the features works on 3.2 leak RUU ?
Thanks for looking at my post.

Motherboard Replacement - CODE Cracked

Hay all
I been trying the way out of how to install custom rom , after getting my motherboard is replaced.
Because as all know its not been possible to install custom rom, unlock bootloader etc.
But hopefully it worked for me
1ST Thing is to downgrade HBOOT mine was, 1.49.0009
So the steps are same as written at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246
1. What we have to do here is, first download all the file as written on the url given here
2. Then in that guide says that we have to unlock bootloader, but we cant so we skip that, and we move to next step.
3. What i did here was, i temp root. my phone with HTC Super Tool V3
and direcly typed the command
As given on that guide... and then I had edited that mmcblk0p31.img
and replaced that with the edited mmcblk0p31.img,
as given in the guide.
After that i have put PG86IMG.zip to root SD card. and update that.
and thats all, it actually worked. i actually got the 1.49.0007
and then i used the Revolutionary method and gained S-OFF AND ALSO GOT PERM. ROOT WITH HTC SUPER TOOL. , because after doing that all, i was still unable to unlock bootloader.
But i have installed 4XT Recovery.

My phone is still at the repair shop. They will change my phone's motherboard. How is it after it was changed?Does it feel the same like when it was new?Was it assembled correctly?Does it work like when it was new? What were the components that remained from the old phone?
THANKS!
Hay you dont need to worry, the replacement hardware works perfect,
And you will not find that your phone was in repair shop, they do that very good.
Hello!
I'm in the same situation, after my mother board was changed, but my hboot is 1.53.0007.
This method works for hboot 1.53.0007?
Sorry for my bad english.
Has anybody made it work for HBoot 1.53.0007
I am facing the same problem and tried so many things, but nothing worked. Is there a way to check if the temp root was successful?
Did you use zergRush or Tacoroot?
Are there any other ideas of what can be done after this stupid motherboard replacement?
Thanks for any help!

[Q] help wih stock backup pre-root

I've had a lot of trouble upgrading to KitKat. After attempting to flash different image files for stock recovery/boot/system, I found it impossible to completely unroot the phone using the instructions posted because the phone kept re-rooting itself. Finally, I S-offed, wrote superCID, used the Telus RUU, applied the OTA downloaded to the phone, changed the CID back to GLOBA001 (my carrier is WindMobile). And finally! I know I relocked and unlocked the bootloader somewhere in the process, but I can't quite remember when.
Now, before I even think of re-rooting the phone or installing a custom recovery, I'd like to create a backup of the stock boot, recovery, and system. I tried running
Code:
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-zaracl.img
using the special KitKat TWRP. There's a message about boot.img being downloaded successfully but the phone reboots to a black screen.
I know that TWRP 2.7.1.0 downloaded from their website worked fine on my phone before I ran the RUU . So I'm not sure that the new TWRP is incompatible with my phone.
If I wanted to use adb instead, I'd need to root the phone before being able to pull the stock recovery, boot, and system images using adb shell. If I have to resort to rooting, is there any way to do so without flashing a custom recovery first? If there is, I might be able to unroot the phone afterward and make it stick. (Delete the supersu apk and su binary, right?)
I remember that the first time my phone attempted to download and apply the OTA automatically, my phone wiped itself. It was a lot of hard work to get it back to a usable state, but it was my own fault for not having a proper backup. I'd like to avoid making that mistake again, and have a stock backup handy on my computer in case there are carrier updates for my phone in the future.
To re-iterate, possible to back up stock everything without root? If not, possible to root without installing custom recovery?
You can no longer boot into a custom recovery, you have to actually flash it.
As far as having the stock recovery and boot, those are actually inside the OTA so you can pull it from there.
Since you'll have the stock recovery already, you can flash TWRP and use that to backup boot and system.
When you need to go stock, just use TWRP to restore your backup and then manually flash the stock recovery.
Since you made the device S-OFF, I recommend that if you need to lock/unlock the bootloader that you use the commands in this thread versus using the htcdev method as that wipes the /data/preload/ folder (as part of its normal /data wipe) which includes a few stock apps.
I had already re-locked the bootloader using the HTCdev method after the upgrade and before starting the thread. Do you think the potential loss of apps would cause any future OTAs to fail? If so, I don't mind re-doing the RUU (no important data on the phone right now). If not, I'll proceed with flashing TWRP.
Thanks for the tip on the alternate unlock method. I'll use that method the next time I need to re-unlock the bootloader.

Locking the bootloader won't do anything, it's only unlocking using the htcdev token that causes the data wipe. So if you haven't unlocked using the htcdev method since running the RUU you will still have the 2 - 3 apps.
I don't know if the /data/preload/ folder is a requirement for a successful OTA update or not but I checked inside my OTA zip for my phone and it does include the 3 items stored there for the VM variant.
The unlock was AFTER the RUU. I ran the RUU, then used the OTA to upgrade to KitKat, then unlocked the bootloader again. However, I didn't notice any apps disappearing and the OTA zip for Wind also has a /data/preload folder.
*Shrugs* Seems good enough to me. TWRP, here I come!

I don't understand how you can pull the stock recovery from the OTA. I thought OTA's are immediately installed, instead of stored untill you want to install it? So, how do you backup the stock recovery?
It is saved until you want to install. When it go finishes Downloading, just choose install later. And you will be able to copy it into other storage devices and extract files and what not. I'm not sure if it stores in internal or external I'm 80% sure external sd if you have one.

[Q] I think i bricked my phone

hi i need help. so here is what happened. i have a sprint htc one max. i unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone. flashed a custom rom on it and had it flashed to page plus and no problems with the phone. when i saw that it could be unlocked. i tried the steps to relock my bootloader and then things when wrong. i relocked my bootloader but now i am stuck in bootloader mode and cant enter recovery. i have been reading in the forums but nothing seems to be a clear solution to me. i tried to install the RUU from sprint and it wont load. i get ERROR 133 (if i am not mistaken) and when i try to find the phone on adb it wont show up. so now i am hoping someone can guide me or show me what i need to do. if not i guess i have a new fancy paper weight hahaha. thanks guys appreciate it.

Does bootloader mode work? If so, you can use the ruu zip on an sd card to fix your phone. You can follow the instructions in my vzw ruu thread for option to. Just make sure you use the Sprint zip instead of mine.

i need help... Can't unlock bootloader - HTC One Max

Hello ! So I got this one max, it suddenly started to bootloop out of no where. So I decided to unlock bootloader and flash a stock rom.
However, after flashing the unlocktoken, the screen on my one max asks if I'm sure I want to proceed, I select yes but the phone just restarts and the phone doesn't unlock.I said to myself maybe if i flash a firmware it will work, i typed "fastboot oem rebootRUU" but the phone just restarted instead of giving me the black screen with grey HTC logo
HTC DEV website is where you need to go and follow on-screen instructions to completely and successfully unlock your bootloader.
For stock rom flashing you don't need to unlock bootloader unless you're planning on Rooting and installing Custom Recovery, at this point it seems that you're stock. You need to either adb a custom recovery and flash a firmware or you're stuck and only need to adb over stock IMG file perhaps or something of the sort. I would recommend googling this and see what you find.
I myself have a problem... I cannot seem to re-lock my bootloader, I have followed every single guide in the entire world... Including Scotty's Guide here on XDA. I even tried to GURU Zip Aroma Installer, didn't work either. It's a waste of time.
Sometimes you get stuck bad. GL
