So todays my 1st day at work with my evo3d. With my 4g id take it off my car charger at 6am with a full charge then by about 10am id have to stop using it to text or browse bc the battery was in yellow. So today im looked at the battery indicator at 7am....8am....9am lol and nothin changed. So i checked the battery in the settings and it actually dropped to 95%. Just to be sure i reset the phone and it was still at 95%. Wow im so amazed at how much better this battery is vs the 4g!

That's what you get when millions of customers complain
If this phone doesn't last you atleast 8. Hours you're doing it on purpose
Bussin Caps from my 3D shooter
No kidding.
I look at my remaining battery when I go to bed and think, boy, could have used this thing much more.
The only problem is that I don't know that it will make it 2 solid days without a charge session. I'll have to see if that's possible on light use/strong signal days.
Mine so far, 4 hours with moderate to heavy usage and I have over half my battery left. Pretty good so far, much better than my OG EVO.
on the days that I think, "wow this thing has incredible battery life--it's barely moved at all since I unplugged it!" typically it will just plummet to like 50% without warning... the battery indicator is pretty much a joke if you ask me.
well...as soon as seido releases their extended slim battery i think it will be perfect...i have no complaints about the battery now and I was getting about 40 hrs on my OG EVO after putting cyanogen on it

I've been off the charger now for over 6 hours, WiFi on, Bluetooth on, about an hour and a half of phone calls over BT, 30 min browsing, push email, about 20 texts and checking Facebook and Linkedin about once a half hour and my battery is at 66%. My Evo 4G would have been dead by now with that kind of usage.
This weekend I was able to get 24 hours out of the phone both days. I'm very pleased with the battery on this phone to say the least.
Is all this great battery life with or without the updates?

+1 for the extended slim, can't wait to see that
It's funny, but I'm not quite jonesing to root my 3VO quite yet. This has got a lot of new technology (3D, asynch dual cores, 4G, etc.) that I want things fully baked. I know 4G's not exactly new, but considering how many ROMs for the OG EVO had issues getting it up an running (not to mention lost WiMax keys), I still consider it an extra challenge.
I had the 2000mAh GaliliO battery for the EVO 4G, and would go morning 7am to late evening without issues, 14+hrs with moderate use.
I would say the 3vo is comparable, but on a 1730mAh battery, It's scraping up to around 10hrs of moderate use, and I have not spare to swap out yet. Out of the box, the battery beats EVO out of the box last year, but still leaves something to be desired.
I've got a couple 1850mAh's on the way, hoping they don't blow chunks.
Battery Life -
My Battery Charges up to 100% - the light stays on - but it stops charging...
and actually losses charge.
thoughts?

How much charge? Many have noticed the battery cycling between 95-100% once it's fully charged. If you're losing more than that, you might want to look into it a bit further.

Funny, my Evo 4G would have been around 85% after that... unless I was in a fringe area, then all bets are off. I never ran Sense ROMs though, so it might not be a fair comparison.

Thanks - I haven't seen it drop below 96 on the charger -
I will keep an eye on it though.

Did you already install the OTA?
I've considered switching to VZW from T-Mo. One of my concerns is battery life with 4G. Can 4G be turned off with something like Juice Defender? Do you really need 4G while your phone is sleeping, pushing e-mails?
You can change it to 3g only in the network settings.
The only time I need 4g is when im showing off.
Yes, there is usually a switch between forcing LTE mode, deactivating LTE, or allowing your phone to choose between 4G and 3G based on signal strength.
Another thing to remember is when you're at home, you can use your wifi connection.
I have had both the HTC Thunderbolt and Samsung Droid Charge, so from my experience keeping 4G on is craaaaazy fast battery drain.

Yes, but can I do it systematically? Also, can the phone pick up 4G while you are on a call to instantiate voice & data simultaneously? I would use the data speeds regularly, but don't need them while the screen is off.
BUMP......
It probably can be done with smart actions? I haven't taken a good look at it yet, but seems promising.
Bump bump bump
Bump........
there are 4g toggle apps in the market making swapping service very easy.. 2 nights ago i went about 10 hours w/ 4G on with moderate use before getting a 20% battery warning.. last night i tried 4g off, went to work, forgot to plug my phone in at night and woke up to 50% battery, unplugged for 20 hours (both nights i had a full charge before leaving for work).. it's a pretty drastic difference, 4G is blazing fast tho, i'd love to be able to keep it on 24/7..
There have been some posts on battery life being terrible lately, and here is a little alternative way to improve your battery life that I found out by accident.
We all know that Sprint 3g speeds have been taking a crapper lately, I don't think I even get 300kbps downstream anymore. I wanted to download a ROM so I quickly toggled on 4g (which I hadn't used yet on my phone) and found I was getting downstream of 2mbps - 4mbps, not great but certainly 10x as good as my 3g.
After my download, I mistakenly left 4g enabled. I come from the OG Evo where if I left 4g on my phone was dead so fast at work due to no signal. However, I found that my MoPho just put the 4g radio on standby and didn't need me to do anything and the battery wasn't draining.
So I came to this conclusion, since the 4g radio management so far seems to be pretty good for the MoPho, if the power consumption by the 4g radio is < than the factor of speed the speeds are over 3g, maybe some Angry birds, I can't remember, then it is probably worth it to leave your 4g on. Save battery + faster downloads = win!
I don't have a screencap for this, but the other day, I was off my charger for about 16 hours, had 15-20% battery left. I streamed some Pandora, downloaded a bit, read some RSS, email, a couple texts, some phone calls and had the 4g enabled all day. Not bad I say.
Doesn't 4G still have to come on every so often to push or pull email and whatnot?
Yea, but the premise is still sound I think.

So I just got an Amaze earlier this week, and my battery life until today was atrocious. Like full charge to dead in ~8 hours with medium usage. I tried doin the whole battery conditioning thing, running it dead, full charge, running it dead again, and have done that 3 times so far.
Yesterday, I lost 4% battery life in 3 minutes showing my girlfriend something on my phone. then 30% in 20 minutes watching netflix on my phone. Pretty much unusable battery life, and I thought that I would have to return the phone and go with a different model.
However, today, it has been off of the charger for 6 hours with the same medium usage, and it just ticked over from 98% to 97% battery life remaining.
What is your average with the phone? My last phone was the vibrant, and it had pretty good battery life. If this phone is gonna end up requiring a second battery, I dont wanna keep it. And with how erratic it has been so far, I can't just go off of what I've experienced.

make sure you are updated to the latest firmware, check for update settings from HTC on your phone..depending on my use, I can go for 24 hours of use, to 5 hours of use...I have also noticed where 4g is weak my battery gets eaten away very quickly...There is no way to tell weather you are using Hsdpa+ or UMTS unless you have a custom rom or modified notification icon...but near my house about a month ago it kept switching back and forth that means it was switching between 3g and 4g...although it will show 4g no matter if its HSDPA of UMTS...I complained to tmobile about my connections speed and after about month they said they were working in my area and my speeds are amazing now and battery life is much better...here's and app to tell what you are on and the signal strength...
https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5pbmRlcGljby5uZXRzdGF0Il0.
also put your screen on auto, and DO NOT use a task killer makes things worse...Connect to wifi whenever you can, weak wifi can also cause battery drainage...This is true of all phones on the market with 4g today...my moms my touch 4g used to get about 5 hours of battery, and she HAS NO INTERNET ON HER PLAN...SO I SWITCHED HER phone over to stickly 2g since she will never really need 4g...now she gets about 20 hours of battery time....4g is just a battery killer no matter what phone you're using...
I've been going around reading these forums for a while and im honestly trying to find out if its just my Rezound that is broken or what but...
Is it normal for my rezound to be at 20% Battery life after 7 hours and 37 Minutes. Screen on time = 31 minutes. Stock Battery on 4g.
What gives? This is ridiculous... i feel like i barely use my phone and the battery is just draining and draining, and its like this with whatever GB rom i use, even a clean one with NO apps installed. I Might get an extra hour out of it if i have auto sync off completely. Its also worth mentioning that my phone can get pretty toasty, around 112f at times when being used.
I feel like i need to use my extended battery to get what other people seem to be getting on the stock battery.
Is my rezound which i purchased on ebay defective?
Thats not normal for sure. I would download better battery stats and check your partial wake locks. Also 4g drains battery alot, especially if your in a spotty area with low signal. I use 3g unless I absolutely need 4g. (Youtube, downloading, etc.) From what you've described it sounds like something is keeping your device from sleeping. With that type of screen on time you should have much more battery left.

that not normal. i get like 10hrs on bamf evita with 3hr almost 4hr of screen time with some 4g
Just posted this in another thread on this same topic, but this is a example of what I'm getting on stock battery with two hours of screen on time running Clean Rom Developer Edition.

Would it be too much to ask for people to report the following?
ROM? If on one or stock
Any overclocking or undervolting etc?
Screen on time?
Apps dominantly used on phone during screen on time?
Are you on 4G, 3G or Wifi?
What do you have set to sync? Weather, Gmail, Facebook etc.
I am on RezRom 3.3
I have Screen on in Voltage Control Set to 1.5 GHtz Max and 129 Min
I have screen off set to 129 Min and 129 Max
Right now I am at 45% with 1 Hr 15 minutes screen on time
I have been using Twitter, Facebook, XDA and playing Drop7
I have been on 4G all day.
I have 2 Gmail accounts one personal and one work, only thing set to sync on those is Mail, Contacts and Calendar.
4g can kill your battery... try turning it off sometimes...
Dude use titanium backup super manager and es file to remove stuff u don't need
There guide who've API safe to remove
I get 15h with 3h use
I have done everything stated in this thread, including using titanium backup to freeze or remove un needed applications.
Cleanrom GBE 1.7.5 & Ineffabilis v1.4
No Overclocking
35 - 50 minutes
messaging, 5 minutes of playing music, 5 minutes or less phone calls, random checking time
4g When in a 4g area. wifi in most others
I have experienced this poor battery life with sync completely off and i manually sync it once or twice a day

I had very similar battery life until I ran the ruu leak. It was a difficult decision but I decided that my battery life was so crappy that it was worth the risk installing the leak. If it didn't work I was going to return the phone. Well not only did it increase my battery life hardcore. But it also made my temps decrease as well. Prior I was hitting 115 with little to no effort. And after using clean rom Dev edition and the provided kernal I usually never get above 109 even under heavy load. It is worth noting that I have 4g disabled because in my area I usually get about 1.5 MB down and that's plenty for me. But with around 2 hours 15 min screen on time and 16 hours 43 min up, on the extended battery I have 49% battery left.
Again keep in mind that prior to the leak mine was literally as bad as yours in both heat and batt life.

here is my battery stats on stock rooted gb with bloatware removed, and the leak ics ruu radios installed. I PLAYED MUSIC ON BEATS AUDIO ALL DAY! it says music 10% but i swear cause i have it on all day for work thats why i bought this phone. and it just hit yellow i just got off work. i called alot to on breaks and what not. stock gb kernal is the shizz! ics sucks big time. my opinion. just sayin
It's the 4G that is causing poor battery life on all 4G capable phones. It's the network, not the phones. I think the Rezound compounds the issue with the sweet screen. I keep the brightness on low.
More info about why the current 4G implementation is killing our batteries:
http://www.extremetech.com/mobile/110711-what-is-lte/5
I've found the battery life on my Rezound with the stock battery to be good as long as I disable 4G LTE. I'll only enable it when I really need it. Wish there was a widget to toggle it.
Just an update for you guys... Im now running Stock Rooted from Scott's site and I seem to be getting acceptable battery life... Its possible i have a very picky Rezound when it comes to roms and kernels? Bah..

Also remember when flashing a new rom, give it a couple of days to settle in. Battery should get better as you progress. Test what roms work for YOU. Everyone seems to get different results.

Id say this is some decent battery life given newt's rom is still a beta and our ics being a leak for now.
Has nothing on my Atrix though, i get easily day on that one with about 5-6 hours of screen time.
