[Q] Streak Issue with Sync - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

New to the Streak and custom Roms. I have not been able to get my accounts to sync regularly. My two POP mail (aol)accounts did not update at all today, my exchange account, which is push, was way behind today. It seems Facebook and gmail seem to by updating properly.
I am running Android 2.3.3 with SD Gingerstreak 2.4.4 and kernal 2.6.35.7-perf Baswband GAUSB1A140515-US
When I go into Accounts and Sync Settings at the bottom I have the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back soon"
This appears all the time using both tmobile and Straight Talk sims, today was the worst.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Since your are new to the streak and custom roms, let me make a suggestion for you. Get rid of Gingerstreak and go with DSC. Gingerstreak was groundbreaking when it first came to be, but is now unsupported and has been for quite a while. The team involved with DSC, especially _n0p_, are nothing short of amazing and have produced a retail quality Gingerbread rom and associated kernel.

[Q] 2.2.1 email issues? (exchange)

I have tried a few of the new 2.2.1 based roms and I keep encountering the same issue. After i set up my corporate account, exchange email, i will get emails synced up to a couple weeks and then it just stops. It never gets current emails (or even ones newer than a week) and if i attempt to do a manual sync, the app just freezes for a bit and then looks at me all accomplished like, as if to to say "see i did it". Except, it never actually syncs.
I tried this with bionix frost and Gothi. Verified that the issue does not occur with other roms (bionix v, miu clones, axura, etc).
Has anyone seen this? I haven't seen a mention in any forums.

[Q] Exchange email account disappears on 1.8.1

Hi Everybody,
Long time lurker, first time poster...I tried to put this in 1.8.1 thread in development subforum but I don't have enough posts.
Thanks to DJ Steve for his fine work. I've had 1.8.1 for a few weeks w/o major issue. Install was a breeze (after much research).
I'm not sure if this is related to 1.8.1 or a general android issue. I couldn't find a similar issue on this forum. I found a few similar issues in other non-Streak forums, but no solutions.
Issue
Corporate Exchange mail account will work perfectly for a day or so, then disappear from list of email accounts.
Facts
Using DJ Steve's 1.8.1 w/o Perfmod.
Using default email client.
I can connect with corporate exchange account using Exchange/Activesync.
It will work perfectly for a day or so, then the account will disappear from the list of email accounts.
Other non-corporate email accounts work fine (yahoo, hotmail, etc) and stick.
I do not remember this being an issue with stock 2.2 & PerfMod.
US AT&T
Workaround
Recreate corporate Exchange email account daily. This is less than ideal because various widgets then need to be re-configured.
Has anyone had this problem?
Solution?
Advice?
Thanks in advance
...just to close the loop.
I did manage to find this being an issue on some google dev forums.
The solution that's worked so far for me (going on ~4 days) is using the free app 'Improved Email' instead of the stock email client.

[Q] Mail app is not working on android 2.1 htc hero

Hi guys,
The mail application is down ( do you know the video for sysadmin: the website is down )
I have htc hero running on villain 13.0 rom, very nice rom btw .
But I am not here to review this rom... i have problem with my mail application. I've setup my mail to my company's account few months ago, and suddenly it stops working... i tried to delete the account and add it again, but i am always getting this message:
"Failed to create the account. Please try again later"
Does some of you experience same problem? I ask my IT department for my problem, they are not aware of, they only told me that they upgrade the exchange server to 2010 version.
I've tried to setup my account, using Elelinux latest gingerbread rom, and it works like a charm!
So my conclusion is that, exchange 2011 is somehow incomaptible with android 2.1
My question is, do you maybe know some workaround, how to use mail app on android 2.1, which should be synced with exchange server 2010?
The GB roms are ok, but personally I think 2.1 sense roms are much better for our heros ...
Thanks
Kind regards,

[Q] Exchange 2003 -> Android 2.3.5 Calendar sync problems

Hi there,
After having posted earlier about the sync problems here, I would like to find out what is causing the problem.
I have done a lot of flashing lately and am pretty sure it must be either the Calendar/Agenda or the Sync program in Android 2.3.5 that's causing the problems (not sync-ing edited items made on the Exchange/Outlook client side).
Other clients, when installed on the phone, like TouchDown for Exchange, synchronizing everything fine.
My first question would be:
Has the Activesync program on the phone been updated from Android 2.3.4 to 2.3.5?
For, if not, it must be the Calendar/Agenda app that needs to be at the origin of the problems.
Can anyone confirm this?
The other question would be:
Depending on the answer on the first question, could either the sync or the Calendar/Agenda from 2.3.4 be ported to 2.3.5?
I'll gladly be willing to test. I have tried myself to replace the apps, but I don't seem to be able to find the appropriate files.
Anyone any help?
Regards,
Solved by updating to CM7 Android 2.3.7
Hi there,
Problem has been solved for me by updating to VictoryMod 2.1 (based on CM7) which is running Android 2.3.7.
Regards,
I have the same problem with google calendar sync. I have had it since I changed to 2.3.5 JVT and it's still here after changing to 2.3.5 JVU on Galaxy S. Is there a way to fix this without changing the entire rom?
I have also the same problem with GSII but I can't upload another rom, it's a company phone.
Is there anyway to have it working on GSII?
Thx, David
Exchange sync has always been iffy for me. I eliminated the problem using Google Calendar on the phone and using G-Syncit with Outlook to keep my desktop sync'd with Google. It isn't as elegant as using Exchange exclusively, but it has been flawless.
I guess it will work until I can get over the fear of migrating the Exchange Server to Google Mail.

Car bluetooth contacts (no phonebook)

My 2011 Infiniti G37x had NO problems with my I777 phone using bluetooth on either the factory GB or ICS.
I just rooted my phone and now using Siyah 3.5.1 Kernel and Serendipity 9.4 ROM. Love this rom.
My bluetooth works fine in the car, but the contacts are not moving over. I tried deleting the phone from the car and re-adding it. After pairing the phone to the car, it asks permission for the contacts, which I check "don't ask me again" and "allow". Nothing happens. I check the car and no phonebook entries exist.
I can still use bluetooth to make and receive calls, but no address book exists. Any idea? Is this the kernel or rom issue???
I wonder if it has something to do with the custom ROM's phone.apk, or whatever it would be, not being recognized. Is there a way you can grab the stock phone and try having that as well?
Just thinking out loud until the experts show up.

I have no idea. I only found a few threads about this and some stated that it was ICS specific, even on factory non rooted phones.
I didn't have the problem though before I rooted my phone on ICS 4.0.3.
I may try to go and upgrade to JB this weekend to see if that fixes the problem.
Since I'm still a noob at all this I'm a little hesitant to keep flashing kernels and roms. Last night I tried going back to the ROMs factory Cherrypicker kernel and that messed up my phone even more. Don't know why it did that. It didn't work on the Cherrypicker kernel either.
Just wanted to ask if you are using the native Contacts database? I'm running SHOstock2 v4.1.1 with Syhah 3.5.1. I use a third party contacts/calendar app (DejaOffice) to sync with Outlook. Sometime is the third party contacts DB does not update the native contacts DB my Ford Sync won't display addresses.
Sorry I should have specified that info:
Running only GMail app for email using the native contacts (people icon) on the phone. Gmail is syncing my contacts.
Outlook is NOT installed on my phone.
I was using the exact same gmail and contacts before and my phone did work on ATT non-rooted stock GB and ICS 4.0.3.
Well I decided to go ahead and install JellyBean AOKB 8.28.2012 and Contacts are now coming over to my car via bluetooth.
Hurray!!!
