Last night i was installing some games i found online (not from market)
I was installing 4-5 apk's and and after the 2nd, installation process was really slow.
They all installed though, but when i tried to move them to SD card, i got an error message saying there was no free space (i have 2gbs free space on my SD card)
Then i got a force close message from FolderOrganizer (it pop ups after every installation, asking you to label the app you just installed)
I though a reboot would fresh things up, but after the boot animation, all i have is the SE logo.
I tried PcCompanion, but it doesnt recognise the phone.
Fastboot gives me a response when i put 'fastboot devices', i dont know if its normal though.
What do i do from here?
Do you have flashtool?
Rooted, yes/no?
It is rooted, and my bootloader is unlocked.
What do i do with the flashtool?
Sadly i havent checked USB debuggin option on my phone.
Is there anything i can do now?
Try rebooting without SD card inserted... Oo
i tried installing a rom using flashtool, but i still cant get past the SE logo.
I also tried removing SD card and remove the battery for some time.
Should i build a house with my brick?

i did what u said, as described on a guide on myphone.gr but it still only shows me the SE logo, and goes no further.
Im starting to think its a hardware problem. The thing is that i have unlocked bootloader thus no guarantee.
Ill try to lock it back and see what happens, i saw a guide somewhere here.
Well, i´ve never heard of somebody bricking his phone while installing apk´s.
But in non Market Apps / Games (most likely cracked ones) you´ll never exactly know what they did with the apk...
Absolutely last thing to try is reflash an original stock firmware using flashtool (find the .tft file in this forum) or register to wotanserver and flash your phone with wotan client (free for firmware flashing !).
I prefer wotan server, on their server you´ll find a usb driver exe and the wotan client.
This one works 100% if you´r Phone Hardware is ok.

Lesson learned for me.
Simply installing an .apk did brick my phone. I was installing 4-5 at the time.
No more .apk's from untrusted stources for me.

Flashtool finally did the thing for me. I was trying with a .tft file i found on a greek forum, supposed to work. It did for all others, not for me.
But only the one i found here on xda, worked.

Hello there,
Ok this is frustrating me to no end. Months and months of freaking wait and yet i cant get the update.
I have an Debranded X10a (bought in Canada) that I am running on O2 UK network. I confirmed that X10a 2.1 update is available, O2 uk has the update out as well. The SI number of kit 1232-4507 is in the list (http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/) So theoratically I should be able to get it without a hitch.. right ?? NO !!! I have been trying on PC Companion and SEUS for the update but every time i get the same darn message "Your software is update" but when i check its always 1.6.
What is it in this sane universe that i am doing wrong that I am not able to update my Xperia X10. O2 update is available, X10a SI Kit number is on the list, SEUS and PC Companion tells me that 1.6 is the latest..i tried installig/uninstalling.. and deleting the DB.. but nothing
is it not possible to get the 2.1 update in an installable file that we can execute after downloading rather then trying to get it on the whim of SE or the career. its kinda frustrating that a simple OTA process is making me cry like a lil kid
Can any one help me ?
Please help
Im not sure what 1232-4507 is, but if that is a x10i firmware, and you have it on a x10a, it probably wouldn't allow you to update via SEUS.
If thats the case, a couple solutions here.
Change region code to the one in Canada, and update via SEUS.
OR
You could just use the flasher located in the android dev section and flash it to whatever you want without using SEUS.
Hope that helps.

good luck ..

You did use CDA and not SI when you de-branded?
Try reading out "Software Info" 1st 9 digits of Customization Version shows your CDA. Should be 1233-6929 for Rogers or 1234-4820 for World Generic.
To access Hidden Menu in 1.6 home, back, back, home, back, home, home, back
If that shows one of the above, suggest flash, or ignore above and just flash.

Oh crap, so it just got weired
So In model info it says: X10a and Country as ARGENTINA
in the Software info the numbers are 1237-1014 R7A
I am surprised cz i just did a complete install of the os from SEUS. it SHOULD have not got the Argentina version..
So thats that.. i m not on a world generic..
Also, tried doing flash from the other thread. But when i booth the phone in Flash mode, it will give me message "searching for xperia" and will go on to boot the phone normally... Tried installing the flash driver uploaded by Binary but no joy there as well..
i am quite stumped..

You have two choices. One is to search the forum for changing your FW signature. There is a whole thread about this. Another choice is to fight with the invisibility of your phone for the flashing software. I think, this is the driver's issue. In Bin4ry's post about the last version of his flasher check the "Problems" part. For more detailed things search my posts - I had similar problems and actually this part was from my last messages. I just used virgin clean computer (in SE terms virgin clean, it is pretty old one) that guarantied me from any driver's conflicts. And try to use old, non-GUI version. Some people had problem with it. One of the last post told that for non-GUI version you just need to reconnect your phone when it began to search for it. In flash mode, of course.
Can you point me to the thread... Firmware Signature change thread is no where to be found, I have been trying all sort of searches
Sorry for being such a Noob on this !!!
Re: Driver issues, I have tried a couple of things, Tried installing the driver, moved to another computer.. pretty much same result "searching for xperia"
Didnt use the Non GUI.. wasnt sure how to go about it... i got macs every where not windows PC.. which is a bit of issue

Try this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711 only good on a PC.
Driver issues can be a bear. Did you run PC Companion?

I have no idea what should you do at mac... But actually Android is from the same family, as mac os - bot are posixes. Android is linux, mac os is BSD. Possible, it is easier to try to find way in linux/unix forums.
In case of windows stuff, you need specifically flashing drivers for the purpose you have problems now. You need to install only flashing drivers. You can find them in Bin4ry posts. There he included a link to non-GUI flasher as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827065
If you have flashing drivers problem you won't able to use SEUS too - it will try to find your X10 too and will fail. I used another computer just to try clean Windows install - without any conflicting drivers and found right one (too old to know anything about this new stuff like PC Companion, SEUS etc). I can not guarantee the success, but in my case it worked.
So i finally cracked it..
For me, the issue was in the GUI version, i took a virgin computer, went with GUI.. same"searching for xperia" thing ..
i went with NON GUI... and voila.... it worked on first attempt.. had my phone humming to World Generic in next 20 minutes..
So yeah.. for some reason.. the GUI version didnt work for me on 3 different pcs.... also, used MAC OX10.6 with Parallel 6 to run the batch file.. not sure if it had to do somehting with the fix..
anyways.. to my next hurdle.. got all working.. but ..
So i Flashed my xperia x10a yesterday to 2.1.... after that... I am not able to change the keyboard to android keyboard .. its stuck on default..
Can any one suggest what can I do ..
While at it, I am looking for swype too... i know that the beta program is closed, however, was wondering if i root my phone.. can i just borrow Swype apk from some one on the forum and use it ?
Great news for Xperia Neo User
After several try, i successful root 2.3.3 Xperia Neo
First at all thank to kistigun and kokbiel for discover this in Xperia ARC, therefore i take this as a credit for them
If you are Neo user i believe u have go through this page
[TUT]
But if you try that, i ensure you that you may brick your phone, as that tutorial is for Xperia Arc only. So this is how to root your NEO.
Basicly is using back the same way like Xperia ARC, just you change the firmware to M15 instead of L15. i copy entire thing from Kistigun step in here
...........................................................................................................
Do not try this if you have an unlocked bootloader or if you dont know what your doing! I'm not resposible if you break or brick your phone!
If you're allready on a rooted .181 and OTA update is available for you just update your firmware. If there is no OTA update available for your customazation version follow these instuctions:
- flash back to M15 3.0.A.2.181 generic with the flashtool
- Use Gingerbreak or Superoneclick to root your device
- Update your Xperia Neo using a OTA(over the air) update(Go to settings->About phone->Software update)
- Enjoy your rooted 2.3.3!!!
Update 1: it seems that the OTA update is not working if you did any modifications to/deleted system files so it's adviced to always flash the .181 firmware provided in this post
Update 2: if you have any battery problems after flashing the .181 firmware(if it's only showing 1%) removing the battery for a few minutes should solve this
Update 3: thanks to ricstc we now have a video tutorial on how to follow these instructions
Update 4: if you want you can keep your user data by unchecking the whipe user data in the flashtool while selecting the correct ftf file. this will cause a lot of error message's on 2.3.2 but just click them away and continue the procedure, after upgrading again to 2.3.3 the error message's will be gone!
Update 5: IF some of you unable update the via OTA, don worry, restart the phone and left it 1-6 min, and try to update again.
M15 3.0.A.2.181 Generic Rom
How come the neo doesn't have a section of it's own?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
it looks that file with .181 is no longer available from this Chinese site...
Thanks!! is great =)

The booting after OTA upgrade seems to go forever. After a looooooong time it just greyed.
(I cannot believe) it's not bricked. Just knock off the battery and put it back. This time the rebooting will be done in a flashy manner.

Hello guys,
I really need some help!!
I've started this but after "found on usb..." it gave an error and told me to turn on the phone...
But the phone does not turn on!! I press the power and there is the small vibration but nothing happens. All stays black screen.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks.
I've sorted this out! Had to use a special shielded microUSB cable to be able to complete the update using SEUS without loosing connection.
About flashing, I had no luck. Always the same error asking to alow untrusted apps and usb debugging...
Anyone did this with success?
Hello,
Can we apply the M15 3.0.A.2.181 on a MT15a phone?
Thanks
Hi,
Which version of FlashTool did you use, 0.2.9.1 beta or 0.2.8 stable ?
I used the beta one.
After that, I did try with 0.2.8 but the samething happens.
Are there permissions needed on the mobile to flash it?

The problem I had was related with flashing crashing in the middle of the process...
So, I tried times and times (about 35 or 40) and finally, the flashing completed with no errors.
Honestly, it took many times as sometimes the computer would not recognize the phone, and I had to unplug and replug the usb cable again.
After that, I did use a bettermicro USB cable to do all the procedure as explained on the first topic and all was successfull. I still did has 3 or 4 errors but I started over till it completes with no error.
I am now convinced (after some experiences on this same Neo) that different computers or windows versions may have an influence as on my laptop I get many less erros than on the desktop. Both using Win7.
And on the last weekend, at my friend's XP it did flash at first with no errors at all (coincidence?).
Hope this helps.

Those USB and Trusted warnings are 'default'? error messages that flashtool displays on unexpected errors, I think...

i need to disagree. i cannot root my neo using gingerbreak if not unlocking bootloader. if i use different method using superoneclick, it will give an error something like this: cannot mount /system
so what i did:
1. unlock bootloader.
2. run gingerbreak, it will rooting less than 3 minutes comparing to locked bootloader, taking forever
3. locking back the bootloader.
4. update.
after the updating process, i get android 2.3.3 with root enabled.
@ mohdazuan
If you already unlocked your bootloader, why didn't you just use DooMLord's kernal and flash the latest firmware? You anyway wiped the DRM files. So there's no point in actually relocking it unless of course it's to use SEUS.
thats the point, i just want to use SEUS
i did the bootloader unlocking at the first time because want to flash custom rom using fastboot before finding out that rooted 2.3.2 can be updated to 2.3.3 without losing root access.
anyway i don't care about DRM since my digital contents is not all "right"
Hello XDA members
2 weeks ago i bought a brand new Neo V and fully updated it from SEUS
1 week ago i started reading your forums [facepalm]
Yesterday i followed a series of tutorials on the Neo V Development forum and i managed to brick my phone [facewall!!!]
What i did :
1) Download lots of stuff!!!
a) .42 ftf file from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19808360&postcount=3
b) flashtool from it's original website
c) DoomKernel's rooting script
d) CWM script from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19733978&postcount=1 (the 1st way)
e) S1tool from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18013064&postcount=44
2) Use them ALL!!!
a) Install and extract where necessary
b) put .42 in C:\flashtool\firmware
c) put everything else in C:\SETools\ to act tidy
3) Feel like McGuyver!
a) used needle & wire to unlock bootloader with s1tool [success]
4) Take the big step!
a) flash .42 firmware with flashtool [all OK]
phone took it's time to reboot, scared me to death! at least 4 full minutes :/
b) use flashtool to root from the Advanced>Root>ZergRush menu [Fail]
it seems flashtool failed after first part.
c) used DoomKernel's script and rooted phone [all OK]
d) reboot and enjoy! [all OK]
.42 firmware was ok, root ok, boot was slow.. other than that everything worked. (except market, could not download anything!)
e) used Upgrade Service from phone menu and found .62 OTA upgrade. [Failed]
phone downloaded the new firmware, i pressed install, that was it.
And thus my Neo V rebooted to complete the upgrade to .62
The upgrade was never completed, the phone never turned on again.
No SE logo, no led, no nothing!
Everytime i press the power button nothing happens, if i keep it pressed for some time the led flashes green every second.
Everytime i connect it to the PC usb it goes to flash mode on it's own, no back key pressed.
When plugged on charger led flashes green every second.
Last thing i tried was to reflash it (since it went on flashmode) with .42 again.
Nothing there
Still, i would like to see it alive once more since 200 euro for a green led is not really a bargain
Any help appreciated!!
Ok if the pc recognizes it you should be able to resurrect it with pccompanion, seus or wotan client
Sent from my MT11i using Tapatalk
Will try, though phone is not really recognised..
it functions only as when turned off and pressing back button while connecting to pc usb.
EDIT : Installed SEUS again and tried to do an upgrade (only option available through support zone)
Failed first couple of times, then it popped up a new window asking to repair since update is not working.
Asked me phone model and downloading ATM, will report soon
EDIT 2 : Nothing with Pc Companion or SEUS. It reflashed the phone with .62 firmware but the phone is in the same state.
About Wotan Client, i would love to try it but i have no idea how to install it or run it, it asks for credits and i don't think reflashing will help in this case.
wotan flashing is free bro, just download their client and follow steps most probably u will get ur fone back to ur life. best of luck !
Just a thought, the phone acts as if the back button is constantly pressed and i find that VERY weird..
Also, SEUS discovers the phone as "Sony / Sony Ericsson" (?), is it possible that this has to do with the s1tool driver i installed before while unlocking the bootloader?
wow, thats what i call entire history of your phone
anw you experienced OTA brick. because you have unlocked bootloader.

they werent wrong, but if I think on which tutorial you mean, it says its for people with locked bootloader.
now when you have unlocked bl, your life is easier
you can simply use custom kernel which have root included in itself
go to dev section, you can use galaxian or bbooff kernel.
while you are there check sticky threads to see how to flash kernel.
after you read those, ask if you have any question.

Thank you all SOOOOOO much!!!
Wotan worked, my phone is up and running on .42!!!
So now about tweaking a bit, those kernels support official roms only,
if i wanted to go for something more goodlooking, faster, nicer.. what would you suggest?
No, those kernels arent only for official rom's.
And about custom roms, I'm not the one to talk about it much, as I'm not so much into custom roms dont have enough time to test them.
so you will need to go trough development section and find something you like. remember you can also look in neo section, most of the roms can work on your phone with minor modifications.
also remember, first read then install
So.. i managed to have a working phone and now i am trying to flash galaxian.
i went on cmd, started fastboot with appropriate command and plugged in phone pressing the menu button.
Now in device manager i can see "S1boot Fastboot" and it is not recognised, what am i suppossed to do????
-turn off your phone.
-hold menu key(the right one )
-connect cable
-you should see blue light on led on the side, do you see it?
-go to folder where you have fastboot.exe file
-hold shift key and right-click of mouse anywhere in that folder except on files
-sellect start comandprompt here(or something like that)
- type fastboot devices
-tell if it says something.
Seems like you didn´t install drivers for fastboot...
i thought they are included in adb drivers !?
Well i have installed the whole android sdk with it´s drivers.
As long as it is unrecognized in Windows (no drivers installed) S1Tool has no Chance to detect it

Hi all
I've spent the last couple of days trying to root my XPS (CH ICS upgraded), following the instructions found on this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723610 and I simply can't do it. I've tried the easy way using the Fashtool with no result. I've tried the fasboot easy way and it does nothing. It hangs 'waiting on the device'.
I have installed flashtool 0.8.0, the update 0.8.6, the drivers and all. It simply doesn't work. I also tried on another PC, same thing.
Any ideas?
Thanks
are your (fastboot) drivers proper installed?
take a look into http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159 this posting from Bin4ry and make shure that your Fastbootdrivers work
if they are... try reboot the computer
Thank you for your reply.
I'm sure it's a drivers problem, anyway I tried that and it didn't ask for no driver, installed them itself. I also tried on a XP notebook and yet the same..
When it says waiting for device while pressing down the volume up key plug in the device
Thank you. Tried that too, light goes green but fastboot keeps waiting. Windows 7 x64.
Read somewhere, do I have to unlock it first? I mean, it is not locked to any carrier.

You must first unbloked bootloader, but I don't now how. I have got the same problem.
Why you want to root it ?! what's the real added value ?

Hi all
I've spent the last couple of days trying to root my XPS (CH ICS upgraded), following the instructions found on this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723610 and I simply can't do it.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I finally could do it, this is the part that I was missing: unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com, by thinking unlocking was meant only for operator locked phones. I bought mine free so I wasn't unlocking it.

Being able to mod it at taste, for example changing the battery from green to blue :good:
Thank you all for your help.
why not! it's maybe useful to change the color of the battery
I've also an xperia x10 pro, I root it, and tried all the existing ROMs, root apps ...etc. just for curiosity, but I get bored quickly! that's why I don't want to root my Xperia S, and now with ICS it's perfect for me ...
I was using Iphone's model since many years, I changed to Android around two months ago, I love this OS, I prefer it to iphon's one, but I found that the possibilities after the root are very poor compare to Iphone, if you jailbreak your Iphone, with Cydia you can have thousand apps, themes, customizations …. But for android, I don’t found many possibilities, or maybe I’m still a noob !?!
Well, enjoy your root …
I will be rooting and installing CM9 the moment it is up and running. While the Sony ROM works fine, I prefer the pure approach of CM. To me this ICS Sony gave us looks no different on the outside to GB, they even kept the same statusbar icons, just changed the font.
I agree with you, I was expecting more from ICS ROM, the only benefit that I get from is that I can configure the proxy directly on the specific WIFI without using any apps, but nothing for the appearance, always the same themes!
but do you really think that the CM9 is better than the official ROM?
Hi, I have a orange network locked xperia ray st18i locked bootloader. I downloaded pc companion and did a software update and all went well. The phone booted up fine after the update until I shut it down and since then I have been unable to get passed the SE screen. It just hangs there. I am able to enter flash mode by pressing the down button and plugging the usb in. Tried phone repair option and still no jog.
Today I tried to unlock the bootloader using the pin touching menthod but that didnt work either. Said something like fatal error....
I need to unlock the bootloader to try a alternative rom to see if that works or revert back to the stock orange rom it came with but im cannot find this anywhere. I am a learner so any advice would be helpful. CAn anyone suggest a rom for the ray that can be installed using flash method WITHOUT unlocked bootloader? I am a **** for doing the uprgrade via sony website but I didnt think this would happen. should have left it as it was.
Thanks for reading.
Take your battery out and try reflashing again using SEUS.
Thread moved to Xperia Ray Q&A.
Yes I have tried that many times already and it finishes the update correctly but still hangs on the SE logo when turned on. I tried again just to see if anything has changed. When I connected the phone whilst pressing the down vol button it recognised it and said your phone already has the latest software but I re installed anyway. No change in result though.
Sony have asked to send the phone to repair and they will reply with a quote for fixing it. Has anyone used this service before and how much can i expect to pay for a software install? Repair office is in Ashford, kent.
thanks
Read my guide and try flashing a stock ftf file, if that fails theres a few other things you could try.

It's not as hard as you may think
Use this to create the ftf, it's step by step. If you can't/don't want to do it I can't help you because I have no orange firmware

HAD YOU READ THE FIRST PART OF MY GUIDE YOU WOULD ALREADY KNOW. Had you even read the stickys in the General section you would have found one.
Right so I created the .ftf file from the three update files. Ive downloaded x10 flash tool. I connect the phone and flashtools registers that a phone is connected then start the flash but soon after the phone just gets disconnected.
any idea's?

Download the latest flashtool (I guess it's 0.9.x) and install it. Go to the drivers folder and install all the drivers for all the phones and modes. Now you launch flashtool, but don't connect the phone! Click on the flash -> flashmode -> select the ftf and don't exclude anything (you have the ability on the right site).
Now click OK and the screen to connect the phone in flashmode appears. Shut down the phone, wait 20 seconds, hold volume down and while holding volume down connect the phone to PC.
Wait until the flashing process has finished and hope it'll start!

Thanks for guiding me and yes it finally flashed BUT the phone still hangs on the SE logo when booted up. I read somewhere on here another member had the same issue and it turned out to be the bandwidth???
What should I try now?
