I upgraded to the new version of Gtalk (Google Talk) with Audio and Video I really found it to be a little annoying and so I searched a lot for this app, and couldn't find it easily.
Hence I am posting it here for anyone who is facing the same issue as me.
This apk is taken from the Discontinued/Renamed SonyBread v7Sp3 by paul-xxx
Talk.apk is available in the attachments for this post.
This apk is tested on SonyStyle V1.1 and I 'think' it should work on any custom ROM based on Android 2.3.x.

I'm a big fan of Miui's note app and voice recorder app, they have stunning UI's which is not available for any other app in the market.
What would be the easiest way to port these?
Putting them in system/app with correct permissions doesn't seem to be the fix here
edit: for anyone looking for some other apps from MIUI someone has ported a few, which I don't need, but may benefit others. I haven't tested them
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425553
OK, putting them in the system/app directory with the appropriate permissions should work... Unless they just aren't compatible with ICS Passion... I don't know... But try these methods:
Method 1:
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
1.) Download the attached .apk's and put them on your phone
2.) Open Root Explorer and hit the "Mount R/W" button. It should say "Mounted as r/w" to the right of the button
3.) Using Root Explorer to push the .apk's to system/app
4.) Make sure that the permissions look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5.) Click Ok
6.) Reboot device
7.) Test the apps
Method 2:
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
1.) Download the attached .apk's and put them on your phone
2.) Just try to install them as is
But just to see, you should go download those ported apps you put a link to and see if they work for you.
Tried first method, didn't work.
Will download the ported apps later on and then try them.
thanks for trying to help
how can i port mms.apk from MIUI to any other rom?
I have been working on this for a little bit. I have taken the Android 4 ICS Messaging app from Market which I think was previously posted and modified it. It will now allow you to receive MMS pretty flawlessly. Me and a few other people were having problems getting MMS to download most of the time.
Installation Instructions(ROOT NEEDED)
1. Download the MMS.apk to your sdcard
2. Using Root Explorer or your favorite Root File Browser, navigate to /system/app/ and rename Mms.apk to Mms.apk.bak
3. Copy the downloaded Mms.apk from /sdcard/ to /system/app/
4. If using Root Explorer, long-click Mms.apk and select Permissions. Make the permissions rw-r--r--
5. Long-click Mms.apk again and select change owner at the bottom. Select ROOT for each drop down
6. Reboot your phone and your good to go
7. You might have a lockup or 2 for Messaging app at first but should be good after that. If you keep getting lock ups(FCs), goto Manage Apps, select Messaging, click Force Stop and Clear Data
*******I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS APP. THAT GOES TO TIM HUTT FOR ALLOWING US TO HAVE THIS. I JUST MODIFIED THE APK TO SUITE THE i717********

sent from sk17i using XDA premium app.
locate (or create) the following file and disable the read permissions
/data/data/com.cooliris.media/files/zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg
(to locate/create and edit the above file permissions use a file manager app able to navigate the /data folder.
NOTE: Manual edit of files in /data folder require root permissions so the Andriod system must be rooted first
NOTE2: This trick works on Samsung Galaxy Y stock ROM, on which the system looks for the file zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg located in /data/data/com.cooliris.media/files to be used as lockscreen wallpaper. Other ROMs might look for different filename and/or different location.)
That's it!

As side note I want to add that my first read about this topic was, about two weeks ago, a thread started by XDA member recognized contributor marcussmith2626 more than one year ago (How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent) which explains a more sophisticated way to get the lockscreen transparent and that might work on a variety of ROM and devices.
Then I accidentally discovered the above trick by my own (I forgot to set the permissions after replacing the jpg file) and I decided to share it here even though I don't know if anyone had posted the same trick before as comment at the marcussmith2626 thread or anywhere else in XDA or the Internet virtual space
wooooow,awesome:laugh:
thnx for rhis.as easy and as simple as it can ever beeee.so cooooool
nice trick
Thanks for your guide its very very easy =D
Hi there Dudes.
i'm really strugglin with my tablet. i have deleted the Gapps for a performance test. surely i've made a backup before. but i can't find my sd card.... (cats ...) Now i'm trying without any custom recovery (couldn't find any) to install Gapps properly and here is the point where it gets tricky. i tried many tools like : Flashfire , Flash Gordon, Open Gapps Manager and manually install by root explorer. But everything fails. when i'm able to start Play Store, it crashes every try after a few seconds.
The Tablet is rooted by Kingroot and replaced SuperSu

thank you
Edit: are there any Google apps which are not included in opengapps? I ask because i've deleted all i could find with Google in filenames, before my performance check. Maybe there are other important parts deleted... I habe no clue
I do not know your system apps but as you requested open gapps maybe not restore all needed apps. You can get system apps from stock rom (update.zip) to install missing app but i guess a full stock flash should be a better solution. A lot flash tools unpack system apps from update.zip if you load stock image for flashing.
