Coming from a speck, I was looking for a case that would both keep my phone out of my pocket and not pick up scratches as easily as the speck.
Decided to go with the seidio active case and clip combo and in my opinion the cons out weigh the pros especially at a $50 price point
Pros:
1. Case looks great and doesn't add much bulk
2. Clip is sturdy and fits the phone snug
case has decent grip
Cons:
1. The way the clip is designed, the rubber of the case almost always peals back from the top when trying to snap it in the clip.
I used the case for about a week and the rubber is already somewhat stretched out.
2. Also, the rubber smells terrible. Reminds me of a unused garbage can liner.
3. The rubber picks up lint and dirt like there is no tomorrow.
On the plus side, the speck case fits the clip great and that solves one of my issues.
All and all, the case is ok but definitely not worth $50 so its going back.

I had the issue with the silicon catching the holster clip innitially, but quickly learned to hold the phone so the my index nuckle pushed the clip back as I holstered it. Sounds odd, but it actually takes no effort or even thought after doing it a few times.
I've heard the complaint of smell from alot of products lately, and they seem to be hit or miss. Obviously your not in the habbit of sniffing your phone, so it must be pretty strong, guessing you can smell it while you talk? My neighbor anD I bought the exact same matress (tempur pedic) at the exact same time from the exact same store and got them delivered on the same truck on the same day. His had a horrible plastic/chemical smell that took a couple days to go away with his bedroom windows open. Mine didn't smell at all unless I burried my nose in it and only on the first day. I've heard of this happening on a host of different products and it's very strange on how spuratic it is.
I paid under $40 for mine, got it from mobile city and feel it was appropriately priced. You may want to take a look at the Reiko (spelling?) for cheap on ebay. It is bulky, but very inexpensive, or the two models by Trident. One is released, one will be very soon. They are around the same price point and have a proven track history. I'm just not 100% on he holster design.

Yeah the smell is the one thing that is really bothering me. I catch a whiff of it after talking on the phone or even when im just holding it.
As for the clip, I wouldn't mind doing the workaround you suggested however the fact that the rubber has stretched out over the course of five days is totally unacceptable. I haven't even been that rough with the case to justify it already loosing its original shape.

I quit using mine, and have stuck to the 10 dollar one I found on the web.
Not as much protection as the Seidio, but I'm always VERY careful with my
phone.
Like I said, it won't offer anywhere near the protection as the Seidio case, but,
it serves the purpose I want it for. The belt clip. Slips in and out without problem, but is snug. Also has a kick stand if you pull the clip out and drop
down the wire holder.

I sent Seidio an email with my observations of the case/clip combo.
They do have an email for technical support...might not hurt to let them
know. I also threw in some photos.
I agree the active case top edge is too soft, but I do the same trick as Chief Geek and push the spring loaded top up put my phone in and let it down with one hand. I even did that with the surface cases which are rigid bit I guess I just do it automatically. I have never just pressed the case in and let it snap into place.
That said, I do like having a nice rigid holster to carry my phone, freeing up my pockets. I do like the surface cases better, but I guess Seidio felt they wanted to offer more protection to a larger more expensive phone.

Hey thanks for the link. I just ordered that case. I was like 13 and change as I paid for the upgraded shipping. I too am extremely carefully with my phone so the case providing minimum protection is not an issue. Ill post back with my review when I get it.

wow is that a new case? looks filthy
u didnt lie about saying it catches lint n dirt
I had called seidio about the issue when I got my combo about the silicone being too soft. They said I could send back the case and keep the holster and they would credit back the amount of the case itself. I am using the speck case with the seidio holster but I got a discount on the speck case.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The only problem I've had with the combo is that the top microphone hole slowly drifts over time. I'm hoping it's not going to affect recording or call quality.
I have a pretty sensitive nose, but my case smells just fine. No worse than anything else I've used, it's a pretty bland, neutral scent.
I agree the rubber where the clip attaches (and right above the upper mic incidentally) should be a bit tougher. But since the soft case is all one piece, putting something stronger there I feel would make it more fragile along the seams. Either way, I'd never just push it into the clip. I always lift the clip, place the phone, and lower it into place. Didn't take long to get used to that.
I have noticed it picks up lint easily, but I have yet to notice a scratch or any dirt on it. All in all though, I really feel like this is the best case I've ever had for a phone. However it is definitely the most expensive as well... :/
They need to come out with the surface case. Best Seidio case ever.

Good prices on nice quality cases.
I personally like a hard silicon (TPU) case because of the impact resistance and ease of getting it on/off.
I like the Silicon cases from Verizon for the perfect fit, but I get a pretty good discount through my company there which makes the price a lot more manageable. My next case is on the way from the website above because I've seen how nice the cases are in person.
I've got several, and the Incipio or Seidio 2 piece cases are the best. I'm rocking the Seidio Active combo because I need a holster, but if you want my grey/black Incipio, I'd sell it for that price.

I had the incipio and hated it, it was a lint magnet which sucks if you carry your phone in your pocket.
I actually gave it away free to a poster on this site. I now use a hard rubber HTCPedia case that works with the extended battery and I love it.

I got this for like 12 bucks shipped
Many on this site mention it but they don't say much about it.
It's hard plastic not rubber.
It's like the rezounds battery door, meaning it's hard plastic that has been textured to feel like rubber.
The fit seems to be perfect.
The phone stays snug in the holster, but I can imagine over time it will loosen somewhat as the case gets worn and the plastic smooths from the friction.
All buttons are accessible.
Belt clip swivels 90 degrees in each direction and feels very sturdy.
The belt clip opening seems to be wide enough to secure to most belts.
The phone shell has a fold out that is used as a kickstand.
Overall, for the price this is a very good case.
With the proper screen protector I think the phone would survive a 3 foot drop with some possible scuffing on the top or bottom edges.
A drop while the phone is in the holster from 4 should not be very damaging if at all.
IMHO my phone is protected from day to day dings and clumbsy fumbles. Will the phone survive a falling out of my back pack while doing 80 MPH on my motorcycle? IDK.
That's my 2 cents
Hit thanks if it helps
Forgot the 1 real con.
There is no cutout on the holster for the micro usb port, so you can't pull the whole holster off and plug in, you need to take the phone out of the holster.
I may try to modify the holster with my dremel to make the charging port accessible while in the holster.

I have that one as well and it's a good case and holster.
The only negative IMO is: I wish the case had more coverage around the top and bottom of the phone. Those parts are open and the phone or screen could break if the phone lands just right (or wrong...)
Is this the Incipio case mentioned earlier in the thread?

Go with a otterbox commuter case off of ebay. Big discount off MSRP. Total coverage, with soft case, additional coverage with hard over top. Also comes with a static screen protector.
I've had two on different phones. Great protection from drops, all ports are easily accessed, Makes power and vol buttons much easier to press.

NO, by static i mean one that doesn't use a water solution to install.
Its one that just lays on, like most of the cheap ones you can find.
If you want an Otterbox Defender..PM me. I have on that is practically new (including the screen protector unused) that I will sell for cheap.
As much as I love how sturdy the otterbox commuter is, it really does add some girth to the rezound. Occasionally I would like to have the protection of a case without the bulk.
Any recommendations out there?

Good title for post. I'm looking for the exact same thing. I haven't bought any cases yet.
Guess the ideal case functionality wise is thinnest possible, max protection, good quality material, solid but easy to remove if you have to pull the battery, reasonable price and has a KICK STAND!!!
Been searching but nothing AFAIK. So currently my phone is naked in it's original birthday suit. I do have a leather belt case to carry it though; but would love the extra protection in case of drops and kickstand for setting it on table.
No love for rezound... accessories are so slow to come out or are out of stock (eg. case with kickstand... htcpedia.com/htc-rezound-hard-shell-kickstand-case.html.
Anyone ever get this case? Has it ever been in stock? And is it good? Otherwise I won't wait for this case and move on.
I've actually gone through 3 cases and I ended up going back to the Commuter. I bought the Incipio and Body Glove... both had their pluses/minuses but the Commuter ended up having the nicest feel (despite the slight extra thickness)
Seidio active is pretty sweet but I wouldn't call it thin. I'm not a case guy but have realized if I'm going to use one, it better work. I've yet to see a thin case that gives me the confidence that this one does.

Have you tried the "High Gloss Silicone Cover" that they sell at the Verizon store? I was very skeptical about it when I saw it in the store, but since there weren't many choices at the time, I tested it out and was pleasantly surprised.
It's smooth on the outside, yet gives you enough grip that the phone will not slip out of your hands. It also fits the phone VERY snug.
I got one of these:

it fits great and the textured sides gives allows extra grip to the phone.

For me, the whole point of having a case is to have my device protected. So, if I have a little more bulk as the price, i do not mind. I have seen so many people complain (not here) about a case being ugly or too bulky, and then they drop their phone and break it to pieces.
Which is better? Keepin yuor phone pretty and having to spend another $500 dollars on a replacement the third time you drop it, or just et a good case.
A thin case is no good for me. I commute in a subway and walk everywhere. I have dropped my Rez several times, and am so happy to have a Diztronic tpu case for the extended battery and a Otterbox Commuter for the stock battery.
i wouldn't trust a thin plastic case for anything.

I would recommend the cm barely there case if it were under 10 bucks. Had one on the thunderbolt and it actually saved the phone many times from 4 foot drops. Only got a few tiny nicks on the top edges of the phone oh and a slight crack on the case itself. About 2mm long. Screen on the tb still looks perfect even after 3 drops to the face. I do have a cheap screen protector installed on it though

+1 for Case-Mate Barely There. Totally minimalistic and yet provides just enough protection.
I have an Otterbox Commuter (quite bulky) as well as the Ditztronic case (terrible btw) and wanted a case with a fairly thin profile but good finish.
I had a Seidio Surface case for my Incredible and loved it so I decided to pick one up for the Rezound. I am impressed and in love with this case. It adds very little bulk while covering everything. The soft touch material provides a nice grip and is comfortable. I HIGHLY suggest this case.

Before I begin...
Otterbox is renowned for their premiere armor-like phone cases. I have owned many phones and two of which I put Otterbox phone cases on. Outside of Otterbox cases, I have tried countless cases at a variety of prices and quality. Some cases are pretty good, but none have the same appeal, protection, and reputation that Otterbox does. Upon unboxing the Otterbox commuter case, I discovered both international and US versions of the phone screen protectors. And, in the photos I have uploaded, you'll see that I actually have the international Note screen protector instead of the US version. I'll explain later...
Both Otterbox cases I have owned (Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy Note) are very similar to each other. Even though my Atrix had a Defender case and the Note now has the Commuter case, both actually give the same feeling of protectiveness, look, and feel. When I first put the Defender case on my Atrix, I immediately knew that Otterbox will be the case for all my phones in the future. Otterbox makes a plethora of cases for many makes and models of cellular phones, so I knew that we would eventually get these bad boys. I received mine yesterday and immediately ditched my previous case for the only case my Note will have protect it again.
Also... In my opinion, Otterbox cases speak for themselves and don't need actual reviews, just someone saying, "Go buy it now. You won't regret it."
The Look...
One word to describe this case would be: Armor. The way this case looks with the polygonal insets to connect the soft silicon to the hard shell casing gives it a great look. There are slotted cross dashes on the back of the case with Otterbox's logo near the bottom. The classic sloped front fit around the screen is also present with this Otterbox case. Everything about this case is sleek, stylish, and protective. Great looking case.
Defects? What defects... There were no defects present on this case, nor were there on my first Otterbox case. I expect this type of quality from Otterbox. If anyone has experienced defects with their Otterbox case, please comment and give some insight on the customer service portion of the Otterbox company.
The Fit...
Putting this case on the phone was more trouble than I thought it would be, but I welcomed it, since every other case I had up to now had yet to give me the right fit I was looking for. After about 30 seconds of initial fitting, the case is on and the fit is amazing. The tightness of the fitting of this case is great. It gives a great secure feeling to the phone that no other case has provided.
The power buttons and volume buttons are covered by solid elevated silicone, which provides just enough resistance to where it wont accidentally be activated by walking or bumping into things from within the pocket of your pants. The 3.5mm and phone charger inputs are covered by silicone flaps that are inset into the case. Both inputs are large enough to provide the physical connections with the cords without being obstructed by the case. The spen opening is generous and allows for easy removal. The speaker has an opening through the case as well.
The protection...
Apart from the protection that the case itself provides, Otterbox provides a screen protector (for both versions of the note) as well. Pretty straight forward screen protector, two films surrounding the outer and inner surfaces of the protector. It comes with a small microfiber wiping cloth and the squeegee for those pesky air bubbles. I started with the US version of the screen protectors (duh) but for some reason, i got dust on the protector itself and it was just a mess from the beginning, so I went ahead and put the international one on. The only difference between the two protectors is the cutout on the bottom of the international one. Looks a little odd, but it works.
Conclusion...
My overall experience with Otterbox has been great. Both cases I have owned have been of the utmost quality. No other case provides me with the look, the feel, and the protection that Otterbox has given me with their cases. I am very pleased with this case and highly recommend it to anyone.
not to point fingers.... but do you work for otterbox? Just never seen someone go through so much effort on a review as far as the layout goes, if you dont work for them i think the effort is awesome.
No I don't work for otterbox... but I may have put more effort into this than I think was needed, lol

Can you take pictures of the empty case next to the note so we can see how much bulk it adds?
How sticky is it when you pull it out of your pocket?
What is the responsiveness related to the cover and the s-pen?

Ill see what I can do about the pictures. As far as the stickiness of the case... its actually pretty smooth. Comes out of the pocket pretty easily. The spen has great responsiveness to the screen with the screen protector on. No difference as far as I can tell with the screen protector.

I had an Otterbox Commuter on my late Dell Streak and it was really good but a little bulky. And it didn't have a cradle! On my Note I have Seidio Active with a kickstand and cradle, and I should say it's more elegant and compact with same level of protection. Just my two cents...

Nice review.
When the case is on, do you find any added resistance when putting the phone in or taking it out of your pocket? Thanks.
I have been looking for a case for my note for a long time. This one looks pretty damn nice. Do you have a link on where to buy it from?

Man ... U saved 3 Cents .. Hehehehe
Great case
I just bought this case a few days ago. All i can say that it is a very sturdy and rugged case. I would have opt of the defender for about $15 more but they did not have it in stock so I got the commuter.
Overall a solid case. Definitely recommend

Honestly the three cents is inconsequential. It could have been a couple dollars more and I still would have gotten it simply because the seller is SpigenSGP (who also happen to make the best crystal clear screen protectors I've ever used), and they have a 100% seller rating.
Nice review. Any problems with dust particles on the silicon portion of the case when pulling the Note out of a pocket? With other cases that has been my experience and the look of the case decreases due to it.

you get some dust but for me it was on the outside of the case. I got my commuter off amazon for half price! I dont think it makes it bulky like the other Otter box case but it makes it have a good feel in the hand. without it the phones feels slippery.

There was 5 available but they all sold for $7. The seller fb was excellent as far as selling otterboxes for Samsung phones. Talked to the seller before I pulled the trigger. He said they are bought in bulk with little to no packaging. I will be doing a review in here of it's condition.

My past otterbox, I cut the film off and just used a different screen protector for that same reason (dust particles). Tough to do to a $60 dollar case.
May have to pull the trigger and get one of these and take a little grief from the wife. I will defend my purchase by saying, "I dont want to crack the screen again like with my Note 2" (sad day).

Yeah I ordered one online for like 42 bucks after the returning customer discount honestly the otterbox felt like it was made out of cheap plastic all the way around it just felt ... well honestly it felt like junk I felt like if I dropped it the thing would just explode into a billion little small parts. The plastic wasnt very hard and would bend under small amounts of pressure the plastic cover felt like a super cheap cover that would be used for a display plastic on a toy box.
I am waiting to get my ballistic case before I review it but from what I have seen from all my past cases from them it will be a much better case. They tend to use hard plastic and gel outside covers for impact. I use to throw around my samsung infuse in its ballistic case just for fun never once did my phone get screwed up it still looks new and the case never opened. Hell half the time I had to just about break the case to open it XD!
I actually really like my Defender case. Granted, I have not dropped this beast, but the case (to me anyway) feels like it could take a pretty hard hit.
Is there a belt clip like others? I couldnt tell what that other piece looked like

Nope, sadly no belt clip. The other piece functions as a multi-angle viewing stand.
Well that sucks

The ballistic maxx has a belt clip
Here is the ballistic maxx case.
I think the case is nice its not as nice as the first ballistic case I got in the sense that the one I had before this was all in one but the case itself feels REALLY durable not cheap by any means its a super snug fit I can barely pull it apart when I am trying... As for the case itself it feels like there is a lot more protection to it than the otter case when I felt them side by side.
The case also comes with a limited lifetime warranty so thats nice they will replace it if a part breaks for free. Also my ballistic case was cheaper than the otter by almost 20 bucks. I got mine for 42 bucks plus free shipping but I also got a ten percent discount being a returning customer its normally 49.99 or something like that will free shipping. Great case if you ask me
Ill check it out. Does the clip feel pretty durable?

Yeah the clip feels like I could hang from it LOL Its rather strong I have never had the clips from my cases break on me when I get ballistic cases at most the turning part of it gets lose but never has it broke on me the only part that has manage to break on me was the clip that holds the phone into the belt clip and thats was because I leaned over my truck bed and put all my weight on it. But they replaced the broken part for free all you do is send them a picture of it via email and they ship it the next day.
Edit: The clip does turn full 360 btw and it has little notches every small turn so you can set it to the angle you want and it will hold it. Doesnt spin around free and what not only after HEAVY use does it losen up and spin easyish I know my old clip use to spin a bit but thats because it was on my hip every day all day and moving around so much it use to move around after a while it losen the clip but it still managed to sit the way I wanted it to with no trouble just had a bit of play.

I just received my Spigen Bounce from Spigen's site but the one they sent me has this ugly dot like hole. It's not a cut out for mic. I am OC so this really bothers me out. Anyone with similar case has this too or should I send this back to spigen?

It looks like a defective case. I'd send it back.

I'm not quite sure if my bounce has this, too. But it looks like the injection point for the mold of the case. So I didn't bother if I have the same thing on my bounce. But if you want, I can check tonight once I get home from work.
It can be inject point for the plastic rubber material. Doesnt look like a defect to me.

This ^^^. Mine has the same one but much smaller/cleaner.
I just checked my case and the dotty thing is there. It looks smaller than yours though. I took a picture but don't know how to upload it here right from my phone. aah, looks like I found it.
i have 3 bounce all same as urs, 2 of them r replacement spigen kindly sent me due to other defects so i have 3

Well I expected a lot from Spigen but still it is a beautiful case and doesn't add any bulk at all.

Yep mine has the same thing. Not that serious to me and I done even notice it. Best case hands down.

I have the same thing on my bounce but I don't recommend this case anymore if your prone to dropping your phone. I have a very small crack on the plastic trim (1mm) right above where the s-pen docks. I stood up at work near my desk and I was going to check my email by pulling the phone out my pocket. I lost grip and my phone fell back down in my pocket but had hit my desk; the phone never left my pocket. It only went about 3 to 4" inches but hit the corner of my desk. Took the bounce case off and noticed the hairline crack. Pretty sure it happened during this incident but regardless the protection near the s-pen is weak on this case. With the case on you don't see the very small split but I still have to explain it when I sale the phone.
I got the Bounce in grey about a week after the phone was available at Sprint, so mine was in or near their initial production run. Mine also has this place, but looks slightly smaller than yours. I've noticed it before, but it doesn't bother me. The Bounce is my absolute favorite case for this phone! I really don't care for any of the other cases available.
Anyway, after a few months if using this case daily, it still looks the same as it did the day I got it. Many cases discolor or the finish gets a little worn over time, so I'm happy that my Bounce hasn't done that!
For as cdmoore74, I highly doubt the incident he referenced is how is phone was cracked. The phone wouldn't get a crack from a 3-4" fall, even if there was no case on it at all! I think this case offers great protection, especially considering it's small size!

it does add bulk. But it's not as much as my Otterbox defender added to my Motorola razr HD.
I exchanged the bounce with the neo sgp though. Bulk is approximately the same (maybe slightly more), but the rim on the neo sgp is holding the case in place around the straight edges of the phone. With the bounce, I was always a little annoyed that it bulged outward at the top rim a little. Really not much, but it bothered me.
Is this less bulky than the Spigen SlimArmor?
Cause i think it feels annoying after 2 months of use :/ Getting a little bit tired..

maybe because of the angle but believe me, it add way less bulk than other case but offers decent protection. I dropped my Note 3 from 5 ft above and not even a single scratch or dent.

Nothing that a 25W soldering iron with chisel tip cannot fix. Better control if you have a temperature adjustable soldering workstation. Just smooth it out a bit and use either steel wool or 400 sandpaper to blend it. Most IM products will have this and there's little to be done to hide it and post finishing as described adds labor cost. Most people don't care. I'm somewhat OC and thus come up with my own means to make it close to perfect as possible. Unless of course, it happens to be a gross manufacturing defect.
