Here's a new one. Searched and couldn't find.
I was on ICZen 1.3, and ran a batch backup on all user apps on Titanium Backup.
I should point out that some time ago on this ROM, I did flash the datafix_11032012.zip file. I felt this could be important information in the discussion.
I then reset/wiped/formatted and flashed ICZen 1.4 goodness. Waited, rebooted. Fixed Permissions, rebooted. I'm good to go to restore my apps+data.
But on the first couple that I restored (Angry Birds Space, among them), I tried to launch and immediately got a Force Close message "Unfortunately, Angry Birds Space has stopped"
This only happens when I try to restore with data. If I restore "app only", the app launches. But if I try to restore with data (even if "data only"), the app FC.
It's not a bad ROM download or flash. I've checked the md5 and even reflashed. Even went back to ICZ 1.3. Same result.
Being this is a data issue, I think the datafix file may have something to do with it. Who knows?
Any ideas here?
Two things. Did you do the data fix on RC1.4 (was it a clean install)? and I always suggest NOT doing batch backups with TB. Sure it saves time but in my past experiences, it cause more problems than it solves.
Try this. Go into TB and hit Preferences, then scroll all the way to the bottom and hit Troubleshooting. Once that opens, tick the Follow All Symbolic Links and see if that work.
Might have to wipe data and caches since you already tried to restore. Maybe not though. See if you can uninstall some app (I do not suggest useing AGB Space as a tester, it is a little wonky) and then reinstall it with the tweak above.

I've uninstalled/restored and even redownloaded from the play store/market. The app launches with no data, but whenever I try to restore the data (via TBu) that's when it FC. I have just tried this on another app (Pandora). Same result.
I think what Woodrube was trying to say after you restore the apps with data,
did you try to reboot to recovery, wipe both cache and dilvik.
when the phone starts up again you should see a msg say "optimizing apps 1 of 123" or something like, cant really remember what it said.
i'm using iczen 1.4 too , came from 1.3 but didnt do a full wipe. so far no issues, if you have a nandroid, you may just want to recovery and flash over.
I have the same problem... Without solution? =/
Same problem. Cannot find solution anywhere
would also like to see an answer. I have the same issue on my captivate

Picked up a Vibrant a few days ago, but Im having some issue restoring my apps using Titanium backup 3.3.2.
I having an issue where Titanium Backup says its restoring, but just sits there doing nothing. Somehow Ive managed to get it to restore once, but I had to wipe and now I cant get it to restore for the life of me. Tried w/ original busybox and the one that downloads inside titanium, both w/o success. Seems that titanium has some sort of issue w/ the Galaxy S.
Has anyone found a solution that allows you to restore your apps? Thanks!
EDIT: Whats really strange is if I try to hide titanium, relaunch it, and try and backup. It gives the message "backup already in progress" but for whatever reason it moves onto the next app...so strange
EDIT2: FIXED IT thanks to Joel, the awesome dev behinf titanium. Go into options and change the install method to "AUTO, Indirect" and it should work. Hope this helps others!
AWESOME!!! Thanks!
I also think Joel has one of the best apps for android. Great support and Dev.
I need a little kind help runing this.
When I press any of the batch RUNs I just go back to the previous screen.
I have the latest version, busybox install, rooted.
I can backup individual files, but nothing from the BATCH screen works.

open TB and before doing anything click the menu key.
Now click Preferences, App Installer Mode and change that to Auto INDIRECT, by default it will use Auto, Direct.
Now try to run a batch restore

Still nothing, when I press RUN I just go back to the Backup/Restore screen.
Should I then be looking for a GO or LAUNCH button?
This same thing happens on my G1, so it must be an evident stupid mistake I'm making, but I can't figure out what.

If your on the Vibrant now. you would once you open TB, push the soft key all the way to the left and a menu will come up.
Go into preferences from here.
Ah. had a bad install of Ti Backup.
Reinstalled and works as ordered now.

Yes, I've gone to Preferences and made the change your suggested. This is not my problem.

ah sorry I misunderstood.
Couple questions.
Does the backup/restore batch commands your running show a number to the right indicating how many apps are being restored/backed up?
TB should request Super User permissions when it first launches, but to make sure open Super User and make sure you see TB in the list of allowed applications.
Thanks for your help. Everything works fine now.
See my previous edited post.
Don't recall ever having to reinstall a faulty app before. Still it is something I should have checked earlier.
Since the OPs problem has been sorted, I hope its Ok that I post a problem.
I wanted to do a factory reset to see if it would improve some performance issues.
- DLed Ti
- menu > batch > run "backup all user apps and sys data" > select all > run (all items under backup/restore tab had check, smilie, or smilie with M)
- factory reset
- installed Ti
- menu > batch > run "restore all apps and data" > select all > run
- clicked "install" for each downloaded app (is this normal or should it be automatic?) data was reinstalled automatically
- rebooted
All downloaded apps were restored and settings were restored.
market dl history was not restored, system user data was not restored (browser bookmarks, text, call log etc)
- opened Ti
- menu > batch > run "restore missing apps and all sys data" > select all > run
- reboot
market links are now restored but still no texts, call log, browser bookmarks, wifi keys, bluetooth pairings etc.
I'm great full that Ti made restoring apps so much easier but I know it can restore all sys user data as well. What did miss or do wrong?

If it verified without any errors then how could it just suddenly not show up?

I have a problem with some restored apps such as Gmail. If I restore app and data the app won't sync properly. It will delete the emails but they still show in unread and when I load Gmail on the PC the emails are still there.
I have found numerous apps to do this.
Has anyone encountered it and solved it? I've tried everything including indirect but all I can do is reinstall the apps and set them up again.

I got my G-Tab about three months ago, flashed Vegan-Froyo and it was stable and a joy until yesterday. This morning, the boot sequence took unusually long, and once it was completed, all kinds of apps and processes start to force close. A few things work -including the market- but Gmal, Titanium, Amazon Appstore, Pandora, ROM Manager, Apps Manager, and many other apps/processes just force close one after another. I have rebooted many times, but the same thing happens over and over. I thought about restoring my last apps+data backup from last week to address the issue, but Titanium does not work. Starting to get very frustrated.
I am not sure what to do here. Any clues?
did you try partitioning (2048 for the 1st choice and 0 for the second)?
and fixing the permissions?
link how to here: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/repartition.htm
You should try the 'clear calendar.contacts data' fix and the 'fix permissions' fix before you repartition and re-install your OS; those fixes are far less risky and really fast, and if they don't work you can still re-partition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880464
You can always move your titanium folder and any other data you want from your internal memory to your PC and then repartition. That way you can pretty much recover after repartition.
Thank you so much. I solved the problem by going into CWM and fixing the permissions. GMail was still force-closing after that, but I cleared the data, re-synced, re-booted, and the problem went away. Does anyone know why something like this happens to start with? Is it likely to recur?
Thanks again.
I have always used ROM Manager to do everything, but seeing that might not be the best way to do things..I have been having some other problems with restoring, and talked about it on another forum, but can't post the link here yet.
So, my nightlys said it is time to upgrade, so I am going to completely back everything up with TB, and fire it all up to dropbox. All of my system settings are 100% the way I want them... I also clicked the beta migration option in the preferences, hoping that would help me.
Step 1 - Backup all user apps + system Data
Step 2 - Sync to Dropbox
Step 3 - Boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery, and do everything manually, not through ROM Manager
Step 4 - Clear cache and Dalvik
Step 5 - Run zip from SD Card
This time, it seemed like everything went as planned. When I started the phone back up, all the apps were in the same spot, and wallpaper was the same. Although, the first time, when the screen timed out, I couldn't turn it back on. Pulled the battery, and all is working fine now.
Step 6- went into TB and did a batch restore of all apps and data, but only clicked the green items. From reading somewhere else, it is only wise to do the green items, not the red, so that is what I did. Then reboot for all to take effect.
This is where I am confused. None of my data is restored. For example, I use K-9 Mail, and the settings aren't restored by the batch. But, if I go to that app, and hit the restore data, then it restores it fine. So, for me to do all my apps, the batch function isn't working, I have to go through and do 15-20 apps manually.
So, what am I doing wrong here? Why isn't the batch operation working properly for me?
Edit - Something else I noticed that didn't restore properly was any of my ring tones. Not a huge deal, but I thought might be worth mentioning in this dilemma.
So I assume you are on CM7 as you refer to nightlies.
You say that you wipe cache/dalvick cache and install. Then when you reboot all your apps are in the right place?
Then why on earth would you want restore your apps on top of the existing apps with TB? Maybe that is causing the problem. AFAIK upgrading with a nightly shouldn't touch your installed apps.
Did you check the app settings before restoring with TB?
As for the ringtones, I always had that problem when using CM7, just got used to fixing them after installing each nightly.
Hope this helps.
What version of TB are you using? I was having a similar problem doing restores on v3.9.0.1 and was having problems doing batch recovery with my SGS2. The status bar would come up but wouldn't successfully finish. I then upgraded to 4.0.0.0 and everything seems to work.. might give that a try if you're using an older version.

Yes, sorry, I am running CM7, but using the nighties.
As far as the apps, that's why I think I am doing something wrong. Last time was the first time everything was there, every other update, it was like I was starting off with a new phone. No app, no data, nothing. A brand new fresh start.
I will try it again in a few minutes and hope for the best..
Thanks for helping out with this one..

I am currently using the Pro, 4.0.2. It just seems that I have to refresh all the data for each app by themselves, but all at once won't work.
Upgrading my nightly now, so keeping my fingers crossed that it will work.

I am experiencing the same issues. I assume you have this problem with ICS roms, because that's where I get those problems. I am currently running WEUI and half my apps are not at all working. I have also flashed back to stock, tried ICS Slim and MIUI v4, but no luck. I am also getting issues, while listening to music, where the song will keep on playing, but the app will ask me if I want to FC or wait. This has only happened recently. I really do not feel like going back to 2.2 or 2.3. Any help is greatly appreciated

1. Yes
2. Yes, usually before I flash a different rom/reflash rom to try and fix this I wipe data and wipe cache patition and dalvik cache.
OK. The first question was to make sure you still had access to your internal and not sole sort of veiled encryption error.
Let me think about somethings and ill get back to you. I am wondering if it wouldn't be a bad idea to format /data and /system to make sure that you don't have any ghosts lurking. If you do, make sure you back up SDs contents to PC just in case.

All those apps are still force closing on 2.2. Could it be, because I'm restoring them from titanium backup?
I'll try to backup SD onto my Computer and then format sd. It's probably some ghost file that is causing my phone to have errors. It probably is a file that has to do with MIUI since I flashed that as it happened.
Btw thanks for trying to help
Edit: I formatted sd card, put all the files back onto sd card, restored apps with tiatnium backup, but still no luck. I even factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik cache after formatting sd, but still no luck.
Thanks everyone for trying to help. I figued out the problem. Titanium backup was causing all those apps to have issues. I uninstalled all user apps via tb and download them from the market. I am getting no force close what so ever, with dl apps from market.
Usually when that happens from TB, it is from restoring system files (they show in red in the TB list of apps).
I use it to restore user apps + data every time I flash a new ROM, but I never use it to restore system apps, and I don't have any problems with it.
Since you've already restored from the market, you could try running TB and deleting it's backup data and then running a new batch backup of user apps (and no system apps) to have the freshest copy of your apps from a working system. That should allow you to restore in the future, hopefully without issue.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
This could be a problem with using TB. TB gives you the option of restoring apps+data. If you're coming from a 2.2 rom to 4.0, you don't want to keep the data from a 2.2 rom. What you can do is restore apps without the data. That should solve your problem.
Hey all, apologies in advance if this Q is answered somewhere. After searching XDA and Google and trying to avoid posting something new, I resorted to posting.
Running Shostock 2, and I have two issues with TiBu. The first one has existed for all versions of Shockstock2 I've run, and the second one is brand new.
1) TiBu is unable to restore apps, only data. I've tried the different App Processing Modes (as is often suggested), to no avail. This is a smallish problem because it enables me to sort through the apps I really want, but I'd rather just do it in TiBu than going through market installs and then TiBu for data. Any ideas of what might be amiss?
2) New in Shostock 4.1.1 - Whenever any sort of backup occurs, many many apps and processes FC over and over (including Apex). Closing and reopening, clearing RAM, etc., don't help. The only solution I've found is restarting. Is this a bad install of Shostock, TiBu, or something I should just expect?
Thanks!

I am also running ShoStock2 and TiBu and do not have any problems. I can backup and batch restore non-system apps with no problem. As pirate already mentioned, never use TiBu for system apps.
What i usually do before installing any new ROM is to delete all my TiBu backups and do them again fresh. Have you noticed off the FCs occurs always at the same point in the restore process? It might mean a problem with a particular app.

Not restore, but the actual backup process. The TiBu backup runs (changing App Processing Mode allowed it to run without TiBu hanging), then if I interact with the phone any time after the batch backup has begun (including after the process ends), the FCs come fast and furious.

I currently switched from 2.3.6 coz to shostock and used system apps restore to pretty much replicate my everything to shostock.
Does it cause a bug somewhere or somethin?

Some system apps can be restored safely, and others can not. If you are changing base, such as you did when you installed Shostock2 from UCKK6, then many of the system apps will be different. If you installed all system apps with data, your phone would probably not even boot fully, and at the least would constantly have force closes and/or freezes and other problems on almost everything. It is usually safe to restore apps like email, Gmail, memo, Google+, etc. but when I do, I always do only one app at a time.
If you ever have fc's, freezes, or other problems, then you should reinstall and restore more carefully.
A little update, since it looks like nobody has any ideas...The FC problem occurs when any app uses super use privileges. And the problem seems to be getting worse - randomly happening even when there is no apparent reason it should. Is it possible that the install of Shostock simply didn't take and I should try again? Thanks.
The FCs happen because when you restore system apps with a backup that was made on a different ROM base many of them will no longer be compatible. You never, EVER restore system apps unless you are doing so to the same ROM that you originally made the backup on. Your phone may appear to be OK, but nagging FCs will continue to happen with no apparent reason. Your only solution at this point is a reflashing of the ROM from scratch as there is no way to fix what you've done.

TiBu's most recent update mentions fixing issues with batch jobs. I wonder if that was my issue.
Anyway, given the lack of knowledge on this front, I went ahead and wiped everything, flashed Shostock2 4.1.3, had the same FC issues, wiped, wiped, flashed, wiped, wiped, flashed, rebooted several times. It's now good, but still a puzzling issue. Still, there's no good explanation yet of where these FCs came from.
