Ever since upgrading to 4.0.3 (ZSLPE stock rom), Geolocation has never worked well on my phone. Whilst Geolocation still works perfectly on Google Maps (no matter whether GPS is on or not). Geolocation in apps never works.
For Facebook, it has never been able to find my location (back in the days of 2.3.x, it was perfectly fine). But I think it's a common problem for ZSLPE stock rom, so that's ok.
As for Fancy and Beautiful widgets, Geolocation works very strangely. For example, when I am at home using 3G, Geolocation always identify my home/hometown accurately. But when I move to another place that's far away from my home/hometown, say move to a place that's 20km away from home, and update the weather and location, Geolocation always identifies my location as my hometown. This never happened when I was using 2.3.x
If anyone could help me solve the issue, it would be very much appreciated.
Many Thanks

I have the same problem, sometimes when my gps is dissabled beautiful widgets show the name of an other cicty 20km distance
Just to add a bit more details.
Geolocation never updates my location whether I have GPS turned on or not (it only shows my hometown regardless of where I am, and whether I have GPS turned on).
Also Navigation doesn't work
Same issue here... any one can help?
I had the same problem with the latest Mildwild ROM for the HTC Desire (which in turn is based on Oxygen 2.3.2 AOSP - Gingerbread 2.3.7), and latest beautiful widgets 4.05. I solved it just by selecting Accuweather for weather provider instead of Google.

I've been having a lot of issues with Genie Widget (running on Miui). 90% of the time when I open the News & Weather app, it will say "Sorry, weather currently unavailable." and refreshing it will give me the same message. This is a problem because the weather will rarely show up on my Miui lockscreen. I've noticed if I re-enter my set location again (not using GPS), it will sometimes work and bring back weather but it will return to the same "Sorry, weather currently unavailable." message shortly after.
Anyone else having this persistent issue and know of any fix?
All I can say is using several other Roms (Superclean3 and Geewiz etc...) I have been having the same issue for weeks now and can not seem to figure out what may be causing the problem.
I was having the same Issues until I switch my radio I was on dl9 switch to e09 and worked for me you could try that. Or switch to any radio
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
hmm I'm already on e09 but maybe I'll try reflashing it
I have tried several radio files and does not make a diff since I switched to a GB Mod. For what ever reason for me Genie does not want o play well anymore.
I'm bumbing this because out of the blue both my ray and sgs2 are currently not able to show the weather and it's been working fine since I got the phones.
Ray is running a aosp version ontop of a semc build and the sgs2 is running paranoid (cm9).
I think it's odd that both phones got the same issue and it's been like this a couple of days now
I've done some google searching and forum searching and can't seem to find anything on this issue although I know I've seen it before.
My google maps will load the city up fine but when I zoom in a bit all of the street names become pixelated and garbled and start to flash. Has anyone got a solution for this or a direction I can be pointed in?
Thanks
I have the same problem when using elelinux gingerbread rom, if I use the speedmachine which is android 2.2 the problem is solved, however I would like to know if I can fix it with android 2.3

i am experiencing the same issue, I am using the CM7.2 Elelinux Rom.
The only workaround I have been able to use is increasing the font size in maps and to not zoom in... but that is a pretty weak way to use GM.
Hi.
The same problem occurred to me after switching to Elelinux 7.2 (from original HTC firmware upgraded to android 2.1).
None workaround found yet.
It seems to me there's something wrong with the special icons (statue, park, road number) at the certain level of zoom.
Until they aren't on the map, everything goes fine. When I scroll or zoom the map and these icons appear, the street name font will collapse.
I've thought it's a problem with my antivirus (avast) but as I can see, you are not using any and the problem resists...
Q: Is there any symbolic font GM is using, which is missing in CM 7.2?
i got that error too. now i switched over to samm000's android 4.03. on there it's working fine again.
I always had the white squares bug in GB rom (Elelinux builds).
Google Maps on GB sucks.
It's time to switch to ICS guys ! Works faster and maps is no more bugged !
Bump - the only workaround is to go back to an older version of Google Maps. I use Google Maps 5.5 and I no longer get these white squares.
I am on CM Super Lite ROM. For the first few weeks the weather data on the lock screen worked perfectly. Then it stopped getting data. It just says "No data - Tap to refresh". When I tap on the icon, it tries to download data but fails and gives the same message.
I tried with automatic location setting and manual location setting and both fails. All other data connections work. So I know that it is not a data connection problem.
Adding to the mystery, I have installed a home screen widget called advanced clock widget. It has a weather feature as well and it also cannot get any data.
I suspect that both software are trying to get their data from the same resource (Yahoo Weather?) and somehow my phone refuses to connect to that resource. How is this possible? Is there anything I can do to investigate this further? I can try a reflash but I am willing to try alternatives first.
My weather widget quit working too. I'm on epinter 10.0
The same problem on HTC HD2 JB 4.1.2.

My wife's HTC HD2 weather widget stopped working too. I think this is becoming a cronic problem. I am surprised that this is not widely discussed.
Same on my Samsung i9001 with EHNDROIX II ROM (CM10.1) - I think that Yahoo Weather is the common denominator here and that problem is there...
has anyone been able to get a fix for this issue. I think it has to do with yahoo weather also as mine stopped working a week ago. Is there any way a person can use a different source to get the weather updated? Like instead of yahoo weather can we use like google weather or something else within our lock screen?
This is a known issue. Apparently Yahoo decided to change their weather API.

There's already a fix for those on CM10.1:

But for those of us on CM10 there is no fix yet (as far as I know).
I've finally hit a breaking point with Maps 7.x. Has anyone else still been having problems with it, or better yet, not had problems with it?
This is a video showing some of the problems I've been seeing. Most noticeable is the jittering glitches. If I'm driving around, the screen is unreadable for directions or street names. At the end is a screenshot I took of a completely glitched out warning prompt to tell me "please enable wifi and mobile network to improve accuracy" though you'd never be able to guess that.

I'm running Infection 2.9.1, and I've tried several kernels (ROM default, Hiro, and Funkybean) and switched up the governors and schedules, and nothing has seemed to work. I've tried disabling/enabling hardware overlays. I'm just at a loss, and hoping someone out there knows more than I do. I just finally had it because it's cool enough outside to run now without getting heat stroke, and Endomondo (my running app) freaks out and loses signal 5 steps into a run. Downgrading to Maps 6.x makes everything happy. Is sticking with the old Maps still the best solutions for this?
Is there any more information that I can provide to eventually get this resolved?
nu Maps stinks on Rezound
I unwisely installed the new Maps from Google Play Store.
It forgot my Favorite places and cached location. Experienced
poor location finding and not-fun routing to locations.
After hating it for a week, I searched for Maps 6.14.4.apk
and installed it with Root Explorer. I am very glad to have
a good working version of Maps running again now.

To be honest google has been messing up alot of things for the Rez lately and maps being one of them....no matter what kernel you are on or what rom you are on its not gonna fix this maps issue...personally i prefer waze as it is not only free on google play but just works alot better and are even more up to date than google maps....plus it has many cool features like it lets you know if theres a cop or accident up ahead...also to note theres a gps test app out there that gives you a much better lock on your gps so it wont loose its signal as much
I have the same flickering issue until I close the app and reopen it. Seems to work fine after that.
After rooting and loading the LiquidSmooth ROM, I discovered that the widgets and features I used most are from HTC and now gone. I then discovered that the distraction of the fam arriving for Xmas caused me to miss an important step ... backing up the current ROM. Every attempt to put the phone back using original ROMs available on the inet have failed ... and I'm not sure I really want to go back anyway. So...
1. Are there good replacements, or perhaps the original widgets themselves, available for the HTC widgets? I especially liked the calendar agenda widget and the widgets that allowed me to toggle wifi, bluetooth, mobile data and GPS.
2. How do I get internet passthrough to work? I'd prefer to use however HTC did it with HTC's or HTClike apps and drivers, but if that's simply not possible I could use a link to a good alternate solution that works ... every alternate I've found on the inet has user comments that its unstable, unreliable or simply doesn't work.

There are tons of ROMs available... assuming you were on the latest OTA before doing this, your best bet would be to install this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260154 (Bone stock, just root added)
The original widgets are tied to Sense, so unless you are using a stock or stock-based ROM that includes Sense you will not be able to use the HTC widgets. You could switch to a Sense ROM, there are several in the Developers sections, probably 5-6 or more that are based on the latest OTA, or you would try something like HD Widgets or other widget packs in the Play Store, there are tons that will give you the things you want.
Internet Passthough? Do you mean WiFi tethering? Most custom ROMs have that built in, just turn on Portable WiFi Hotspot, the one in LiquidSmooth works great.
Re: widgets and Sense: Thx, I should have guessed that. I'll look at the widget packs and see what I can find, and those other ROMs.

HTC calls it internet passthrough (or something similar) but it seems to be more commonly called reverse tethering, where the phone uses the PC's internet connection via USB. WiFi isn't an option at many of the places I use the phone.

i used hd widgets for clock replacement...launcher pro has some sense like widgets that come with as well...in the play store theres a few widgets that can simulate htc's widgets....but always keep in ming anything not sense based will not have those htc widgets...
well the toggle widget is in Liquidsmooth
i haven't been able to get the usb pass-thorough to work on win7 but it works perfect on Ubuntu so we need to find the driver for that
(with the tether it can either pass-through your home's wifi or you can use your 4g connection)
as far as the htc widgets go. you should find one in the playstore you like, i tried pulling the apk's from the ics stock rom but i already knew that they weren't going to work but i tested it anyways and they dont install on JB
