[Q] Any that can post a file?

Any here that can pull the framework-res.apk from their phone and post it here? I wanna chamge some color tones on my missy's phone in the weekend here where she is gone, and offcause she took the phone with her before i had a chance to pull the file myself..
Any that can help?
For the mini or the mini pro?
Here's at least the one for Mini Pro: mediafire.com/?48w5y9d7sj2pxa8
Would be really nice if you could share the result with us as well (or at least let us know if it worked).
It is actually for the X10 Mini, not the pro i need, but ill look into the file and see if they are compatible..
Basicly, the easy way to get the blue menu away is simply make a script in Photoshop that desaturate the pictures. They will get a nice gray look with a simple click.. Ill try making that and repost the file.
What ive been reading, but not tested myself yet, is that you edit the pictures to what ever you feel they should look without changing size X by Y and merge them back into the apk with winzip, winrar, b2z or whatever you are using to look into the apk with. Then you don't need to sign the file again and you can push it back to your phone..
Ill keep you posted.. Thanks again for the file..
Meep meep..
You must have root on your phone and you use this at your own risk. The file is for X10 Mini Pro. No idea if it works on non pro...
So, i pulled the blue colors from all the pictures.
Make a backup of the /system/framework/framework-res.apk from your device first..
The files are back in the apk and should be uploaded to your /system/framework folder on your phone.
Change permissions on the file to 755 and reboot your device.
Sould now all be gray instead of blue..
mediafire.com/?l1b1g8ykp1j05ij
Let me know of your experiences..
Meep meep..

Here it is, firmware is E10i 1.6 1.0.A.1.37 (X10 mini black)
Could you port the linked theme I mentioned in gray theme thread ?
I can upload rest of themed files i.e. Contacts,Calendar,Messaging etc.
P.S. not much reason backing up original file if you gonna try changing it. If file won't work you will end up with sony-ericsson white writting on the screen and you should flash with Windows SE Update Service (press home+back together, than power button when asked to connect phone). Titanium backup is the way to restore settings.
Changing file back won't be possible cause "su" crashes in this mode, so /system is not re-mountable and thus u can't copy original file back.
Still, flashing takes less than a minute, and its quite safe to try themes.

But if it works and you still want to change back it would probably be nice to have the original file.

[HOWTO] Backup your CSC

DISCLAIMER: Please bear in mind that my flashing didn't end up perfect and I'm still learning. That said, we're just gonna be copying some files so I think it's kinda harmles to the phone. It worked for me, but it doesn't mean it will necessarily work for you, I post this because I think it's important that we share our experiences so we can learn from each other. Also I cannot guarantee that it will restore everything. In short what I mean is you do this under your own risk. This procedure was tested only on the following models. If you have success in other models please post back so I can update the list
Tested:
- Galaxy 551 (GT-i5510L)
- Galaxy mini (GT-S5570L)
1. Type *#272* IMEI # on your phone. In the little white box that appears on top there's a 3 letter code, that's your CSC code. Now hit the back button. (DON'T click "Install")
2. Go to /system folder and look for the file "CSCFiles.txt". To make things easier copy it to your sdcard and then download it to a pc so you can watch it during the procedure.
That file lists all the files that the phone uses to install a new CSC when you enter the code *#272* IMEI # so basically what we have to do is go through the system folders looking for those files and back them up in the sdcard or to a pc (your choice). Also back up with Ti Backup (just in case, you should always do a backup)
3. Flash.
4. After flashing go to the /system/csc folder. Inside this folder we have subfolders named with the codes of all the CSC included in the CSC file. What we need to do is create a folder with our CSC name (my case it was CTI) and then put all the files we backed up earlier in it.
5. Take your backed up CSCFiles.txt and back it up again, we're gonna be modifying it (TIP: if you're using Root Explorer for this process it makes a backup for you named CSCFiles.txt.bak).
6. Now we are going to tell android where the files are now so it can install them. Open your CSCFiles.txt for editing (note: I edited with Root Explorer, I just opened the file with windows Notepad to copy some sections for this post and it opened all in one long line, so it's probably not a good idea to edit it on windows) mine looked something like this
Code:
/system/media/bootani.qmg
/system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg
/system/media/audio/notifications/Claro.mp3
/system/CSCFiles.txt
/system/csc/contents.db
/system/csc/customer.xml
/system/csc/isnew_csc.txt
/system/csc/others.xml
/system/csc/sales_code.dat
/system/csc/feature.xml
/system/SW_Configuration.xml
/system/wallpaper/drawable/wallpaper_claro.jpg
/system/wallpaper/drawable/wallpaper_claro_small.jpg
/system/wallpaper/default_wallpaper/default_wallpaper.jpg
/system/app/LauncherMyfiles.apk
/system/app/YahooSearch.apk
/system/app/Plugger.apk
/system/app/MBO2_SMS_I5510L_CSBP_AMX_302.apk
/system/app/LauncherMessage.apk
/system/app/LauncherCamera.apk
/system/app/LauncherStk.apk
/system/app/CTI_Link.apk
/system/app/AMXNotification.apk
/system/app/LauncherCalendar.apk
/system/app/ASCR_SMS_i5510L_ML_AMX_301.apk
/system/app/LauncherContact.apk
/system/app/TopappMessage.apk
/system/app/LauncherMusicplayer.apk
/system/app/LauncherSettings.apk
you can tell there are some customized animations (with the operator logo) and sounds, then some bloatware and apps (which I didn't chose to restore) and then there are these files
Code:
/system/CSCFiles.txt
/system/csc/contents.db
/system/csc/customer.xml
/system/csc/isnew_csc.txt
/system/csc/others.xml
/system/csc/sales_code.dat
/system/csc/feature.xml
/system/SW_Configuration.xml
I only copied these files to the /system/csc/CTI folder we previously created and now comes the "tricky" part. You have to copy the files maintaining the path that the file says. i.e. the CSCFiles.txt goes into /system/csc/CTI/system/CSCFiles.txt then sales_code.dat goes in folder /system/csc/CTI/system/csc/sales_code.dat and so on. Then we have to edit our CSCFiles.txt to reflect these new paths so it will look something like this
Code:
/system/csc/CTI/system/CSCFiles.txt
/system/csc/CTI/system/csc/contents.db
/system/csc/CTI/system/csc/customer.xml
/system/csc/CTI/system/csc/isnew_csc.txt
/system/csc/CTI/system/csc/others.xml
/system/csc/CTI/system/csc/sales_code.dat
/system/csc/CTI/system/csc/feature.xml
/system/csc/CTI/system/SW_Configuration.xml
7. Finally if we've done eveything right when we type *#272* IMEI # our CSC will be listed and we can chose it, select it.
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING STEP WILL ERASE ALL YOUR PHONE DATA AND PERFORM A HARD RESET
8. Click "Install". The phone will shutdown.
9. Turn it on, an image of the little green droid with a box appears for a while and then the phone shuts down again. Just wait a little longer and it will reboot itself and presto!! You have your phone flashed and with your CSC restored!! (and hopefuly everything works out fine). Note that this time the reboot can take longer since it copies all the files before starting the OS.
This is my first Howto so any questions, comments, help will be greately appreciated and encouraged. I will try to answer if I can. Also if you try this on a different phone please tell me so I can start making a list with supported/not supported devices.
Finally!!!
Worked like a charm. I was able to restore the original CSC on my device and proceed with carrier updates. Thanks so much!

So far, I have only tested it with Galaxy GT-I5510L and Galaxy GT-S5570L it "should" work in other models if they maintain the same csc file/folder structure. If anyone tries this and it works for another model please post back results and I'll update first post
Very helpful !! Must be a sticky

Veryy usefull, as many dumbs make faults in flashing.
But you could first explain to them what a CSC is

i think CSC mean country specific code
I have a little warning for this: the "contents.db" is actually an SQLite file, which contains the full path+name and the filesize of the CSC files. I think that this file should be edited when you change the path or the size of your CSCs. Screenshot attached
Thanks man! It really helps alot!

[Q] Suber noob with a few questions

I received my S2 a few days ago from Vodafone and despite having never owned a smartphone before (yes really) I decided to get straight into installing a custom ROM as my phone came with a lot bundle crap from Vodafone that i wanted to be rid of.
After a lot of reading i flashed the KJ3 CF-Root kernal (the stock vodafone firmware being BUKJ3) with Odin then installed the latest Checkrom via CWM.
Firstly, when trying to add a clock widget to my home screen it appears that there are none. On the stock out-of-the-box firmware there were two or three nice ones. With Checkrom installed how would i find these widgets again?
Second thing, after installing Checkrom the bundled/stock apps are spread over 4 screens with none of those screens being full. Is there a way to merge them so each screen is full before a new one would be created?
Lastly, say i wanted to return the phone to Vodafone for whatever reason what would be the correct way to return the phone to its original state (i.e Kernal and Firmware)? From this thread i have downloaded the following items;
GT-I9100_VOD_I9100BUKJ3_I9100VODKI2_I9100BUKI1.exe
Kernel_I9100BUKJ3.exe
These are the original Vodafone Kernal and Firmware (right?) but after extracting each file i'm they are both .tar.md5 files. Is this a problem?
If not, in what order and how should each file be flashed back on the phone?
Any help is most appreciated.
Thanks
It might be the case where they removed the widgets from the ROM you flashed, which is why you can't find it (I don't know, not sure, possibly..) You can download apps from the market to get other clock widgets though.
From what I know, there is no way to tell the phone to automatically merge the widgets when there are still empty slots on the home screen. It's not the smart, sadly :/
You're not supposed to extract a .tar file. It may appear to be a zip file on your computer but just use Odin to select that file and flash it.
P.S I'm still new to this whole rooting business but still learning so my answers may not be reliable but hey, worth a try

I didn't extract the tar files. The files i downloaded from XDA were 7zip .exe files. They extract leaving me with .tar.md5 files.
Ahaha oops my bad. But I think the same principle applies.
I think you can just click the PDA, select the stock kernel (Kernel_I9100BUKJ3), flash it and it should be okay.

How would i then flash the the stock firmware though? Presumably by flashing the stock Kernal i would lose root and CWM and thus lose the ability to flash the original firmware?
Thanks
Okay did some quick research and just by flashing this GT-I9100_VOD_I9100BUKJ3_I9100VODKI2_I9100BUKI1 will unroot your phone.
[EDIT]
"Just flash a new firmware on to you phone. Even if it's the same one that's on there.
Flashing a kernel doesn't remove the Root but flashing the entire firmware does"
Got that from here.
hey , if u want to organize your shortcuts in the home screen press the options button ( the one with three lines) then hold on an icon & move it to the desired spot , u even have the option to organize them in a folder then draging the folder to the menu to save it.
i hope u found this useful
oh another thing if u flashed a custom rom , u had to erase something called (binary count) aka custom rom count which void the warranty , u need a piece of micro usb tool USB jig & heres a thorough explanation to it :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20596560&posted=1#post20596560

Thanks for that. I've managed to organise my home screens the way i like with shortcuts to my most commonly used app and such. But is there a way to organise apps on the apps screen (rather than home screens)? I'm a bit OCD so i like to have everything neat and tidy
As for the custom rom count do i need to erase it after installing checkrom or after re-installing the stock firmware?
Thanks

Camera fails after failed update

Hi all,
This morning I tried to update my Camera firmware using the *#34971539# (Camera Firmware Update) code. During this upgrade I got the message 'FactoryTest stopped'. After that message my camera app stopped working, it starts, shows the buttons, but the image is black. Also I am unable to access the camera firmware update screen... I get the same message as before (FactoryTest stopped).
I tried a few custom roms, but this didn't solve the issue. I also restored a backup I created with CMW, but no luck.
Does any of you have an idea how to get my camera to start working again ????
Thanks.
Best regards,
Vinzie

Can you tell me which firmware is 3part ??? Up until now I only used/found single file firmwares...
I red an old galaxy S thread on XDA, apparently you can copy the correct file onto the device (you need root access though) and then you should be able to run *#34971539# again, without it crashing. At least that is how it worked on the galaxy S. I've look on the filesystem of the galaxy S3 and I don't have a 'firmware' folder in the /system/ folder, so I guess the camera files are located elsewhere on the galaxy S3/ICS... does anyone have an idea where these files are located ? And is anyone willing on posting their camera firmware files here....?

Apparently people using CM9 also had camera issues and where able to fix them by putting the following files back onto their phone:
/data/cfw/SlimISP_GD.bin
/data/cfw/SLIMISP_ZD.bin
Would someone please send me those 2 files, so I can try if this will fix the camera issues ?
Also also saw that there are firmware files in the folder '/system/cameradata/', I would also love to have those...

The camera firmware is in two locations. The camera itself contains one (the one you can "flash") and one in the kernel. When the camera loads up (first time after a clean boot) it does a comparison of the two firmwares, decides which one is the latest and loads that one into memory. Hence, there's no need to flash the camera FW itself. It will load the latest of the two.
There is a option in kernel somewhere to store the camera firmware externally. I'm fairly sure this is how CM9 does it, hence the firmware in /data/cfw.
It could also be that CM9 dumps the camera firmware to that folder, for whatever reason I do not know.
You can download the latest firmware CM9 uses directly from their source. I can't make heads or tails when browsing their github, it's a horrible mess, but it's there somewhere. Files are called SlimISP_GD.bin.ihex and SlimISP_ZD.bin.ihex.

OK I found the 2 files, they were present in a dump posted on the XDA forum. I put both files in the /data/cfw/ folder, restarted the phone and tried the camera, but no luck. I tried it once with and once without the .ihex extention. I also tried the same by putting the files into the /system/vendor/firmware/ folder.... but no luck there either...
Any thoughs on what location I can try ? Or is restarting the phone not enough...? Should I do a hard reset ?

Post your TWRP Recovery folders here!!!

Share your TWRP recover folders here so we can keep this phone alive. There is limited development for this phone. No KK so we have to do something.
Make sure to include to include the boot section to change the consumer cellular phones to regulars.
Use Recover files at your own risk. Do research before flashing your phone.
Phone must be bootloader unlocked and have twrp installed.
You can get the bootloader code from huawei - even for the consumer cellular versions.
Support XDA!!!
I finally found a TWRP Complete backup with no data. I installed it this morning and it add the hotspot to my consumer cellular and it is up to date and rooted. You cannot install a regular update package if you have modified system files, removed stock apps, etc. It would fail everytime. I could not find which ones where missing so this was my only resort to get the hotspot feature. If I can get to some fast internet to upload I'll get it up on google drive.
So you don't need my backup then?

I add the animation from the china firmware.
I changed my boot splash screen. The instructions for that are on the last page of of the consumer variant post.
I have xposed installed with transparency and Kitkat Status icons and nav icons
I deleted the huawei locker. No after market locker here. I added the nexus 7 oem locker.
Hotspot is enabled, There is no toggle for it, I could not figure that out, There was a already a widget on the phone from the strart
Twrp desktop and numerous pieces of software.
My boy coffee Coffee inspired me to do the research and study the restores he had to find out how to disassemble this stuff.
Can't Push the chinese software.img file because it is over 1gb.
Here are the images of the firmware. Sorry for the double post but I got a lot of emails for this.
1. in the zip is the twrp files. Copy and paste the that directory with the files in it into your twrp directory
2. in the zip there is a cust folder. inside cust folder there is a consumercellular folder.
use es explorer on your phone and enable write permissions and rename your consumercellular folder in your cust folder in the root of your phone to consumercellular1
3. copy and paste the other consumercellular folder into that directory.
4. restart into twrp recovery and install the new image with the recovery if you want to it does not make a difference.
restart. and reset up your phone.
5. If it does not boot just clear the cache and dalvik in the recovery.
6. Use google now launcher and setup your shortcuts the way you want and setup the rest the way you want and you good to go.

It is two camera apps installed on the phone. Check the app drawer to see if it is there. If not I can upload the right camera. You would just need to replace the app in your system app folder " the apk file along with the odex file."

Sure I do. I unpacked the 132 firmware from the other post to get the system.img file. It is less than 1gb so it ok to fastboot.
I had to restore the phone back to 132 with system.img before I could do a restore with the 132 complete restore firmware because the 132 will not install onto a phone with 128 which is what came on the plain ham2 phones. The guy that posted those images was our salvation.
Reinstall factory recovery
This will restore your phone to factory
1. Download the 132
2. Use huaweiupdateextractor - search google for it
3. open the firmware (update.app) in the program and right click on system.img and extract to a folder
4.Put at the base of a drive. ex(c:\system.img)
5.Put your adb and fastboot files at the base to.
6. open command prompt
7. change drive letter to that drive ex c:
8. Put your phone in bootloader mode
9. Back to the command prompt and - fastboot flash system system.img
10. wait for it to finish.
11. restart your phone. and copy the dload folder with update.app to your memory card.
12. go to system update in your settings and select local update.
13. let it finish and you are back to factory.
14. reinstall twrp recovry and restore the twrp image and you good to go.
u are really awesome !! working like charm !!

I doubt its the camera app.. Its the drivers from the 8mp camera. You will probably have to do some file editing and file transfers to get the 13 mp back.

I'll post the other camera. what is the exact anem of the camera in the app folder. Ill name it. all you would have to is delete the apk and odex and paste new ones in the place of them. These would be the ones that came with the phone. THe one in there now is for a nexus and is only 8mp, sorry about that.

It was was backed up with root uninstaller. I use camera kk from the market. It is the same as the google camera but it takes pictures in 13mp. The above file in the previous post is the original camera that came with the phone.
