First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your AT&T Galaxy S II (SGH-I777), or coming from another ROM:
- READ FAQs: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Experimental:GT-I9100:Frequently_Asked_Questions
- Make sure you're running SGH-I777 bootloaders only (only the ones that are specifically released for the SGH-I777 -- official Gingerbread bootloaders work fine!) and a proper working CWM like the one from CM7
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Flash GApps zip
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
- Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
- Reboot

Battery life is better than when we first had kernel sources.
Good job.
I looked through the FAQ as well as known issues can't seem to find a couple problems that I am having.
1) Having to reboot my phone every couple hours due to slowdowns
2) Might be related to 1, but the accelerometer fails after an undetermined amount of time and the phone refuses to rotate unless I actually slam it into my hand. A reboot resolves it.
3) The ICS Keyboard doesn't seem to be as responsive on the Nightly build here compared to the original ones that were out before our Nightlies were released.
4) At least in Facebook, under notifications I no longer can actually select them, it's as if something moved the "button" you normally hit, up to a small miniscule part. Facebook hasn't released an update and it did work fine in the previous non nightly version so I'm assuming it might be the nightlies. Definitely not a priority but slightly irksome. (Looks like this might be an App issue, not a OS issue.)

Yeah, my Facebook notifications don't work either. I'm still a little upset over the SMS notifications not waking the screen. That's really all I want fixed.
I would assume that since the official ICS for the i777 has been leaked, virtually all of these issues will go away.
Been running the first nightly since task650 posted it from the Ported Dev. forums. Excellent start for the i77, I must say.
There are some small nags though. For example, pressing on any menu in the Settings and I see slowdowns in terms of the selection highlights. The blue highlight seems to hesitate when it fades.
Thanks dude!
I just wanted to chime in to let you know that the Facebook issue is occurring on the Shostock ICS rom RC3 for me. So it may not be CM9 related.

Hrm, I don't recall it not working for me under Task650's CM9 build from 3/23 so that's why I thought it was new. I'll see if I still have my Nandroid backup and try to see if it still exists there or not. If it does, looks like I'll have to figure out a way to contact facebook support (I think I will have better luck slaying a dragon)

I know FB can now roll out changes without updating the App so it is possible they messed up something. Their mobile site still works perfectly. Good to know.

You will lose S Pen and other Touchwiz functionality if you flash this but here is how you can get some of that functionality back!
weehooherod2 said:
1. S Pen works (try out the app Papyrus as a replacement to S Note, Papyrus does utilize the S Pen button as well).
2. Air View works (Go to settings, Language & input, check "Show icon when using stylus".
3. The S Pen button works (Go to settings, Language & input, Stylus gestures, those all use the s pen button).
4. Pop up browser = OverSkreen from the Google Play Store.
5. I use the 4.2 Camera on Touchwiz anyway. There are plenty of good camera apps in the market if you want more features.
6. Multiwindow. There is no alternative, dont ask.

Basically the window disappears leaving the keyboard up and the cursor in place. Every time you hit a key it appears and disappears thereafter.

Is GPS fully functional in this release?
Thanks!
I would like to install this, but what I've run into with all of these AOSP ROMs is that my ext SD card more or less just doesn't work with them. I format it to FAT 32 before installing, but when I do that, CWM and TWRP don't "see" my card. And when I go to Settings->Storage in AOSP ROMs, it force closes. Also when I plug my phone into the computer, media.android.com force closes.
Anybody know how I can fix this, or has anybody experienced anything similar? I feel like I'm experiencing some kind of partition issue.

I keep running into an issue. I'm using twrp and when I attempt to flash the first file, it says there is a problem and it fails. I've tried wiping and also redownloading. My computer won't recognize my sdcard through usb. I had to pull the card out and use the slot in the front. I suppose it's somehow related to this? The phone is capable of seeing and using it though for pictures.

CM-10.1 Install Guide
Note: CM for Galaxy S4 Mini is provided with no warranty. You are installing this software at your own risk. You may be violating your warranty.
Download CM-10.1 and gapps-jb zips and put in /sdcard
Nightly: http://get.cm/?device=serranoltexx&type=nightly
Stable: http://get.cm/?device=serranoltexx&type=stable
UPGRADE REQUIRED
gapps version 20130812
MD5SUM: 815c5df8fadf2967f84c777bd19485bf
Please verify the md5sum to be sure you got the right one.
Before you install CM-10.1: Preparation (First three are optional. If you want to start fresh, these can be skipped)
Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.
Install SMS Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your SMS history.
Install Call Logs Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your call log history.
Boot into ClockworkMod recovery. Make a full backup. You will need this backup later if you decide to go back to your previous ROM and data.
WARNING: Many apps will Force Close crash if you restore data from a previous ROM.
Install
Use ClockworkMod Recovery.
Warning: Only use this recovery to flash CM-10.1. Otherwise, you risk bricking your phone!
Wipe data and cache.
Flash cm-10*.zip.
Flash gapps*.zip. You must flash gapps after every upgrade to CM10.1 since /system is formatted, wiping your previous add-ons.
Reboot phone.
After you setup your Google account, reinstall the three apps from Market in order to restore most of your apps, call log and SMS history.
Warning: Do not restore backup data of system apps!
If you restore a bad backup with cached settings in telephony.db in data/data/com.*.*.telephony it can break MMS.
It seems that restoring backups can also break Calendar sync.
Upgrades
Upgrades from previous versions of CM10.1 are the same process as install, except you do not need to wipe anything. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to even wipe cache and dalvik-cache when upgrading between CM10.1 versions. You only need to wipe if you are doing a major upgrade, switching to a different ROM entirely, or attempting to fix bugs caused by bad backups or corrupt app data.

By the way, did someone already make a discussion/bug reporting thread in the general section? It prevents spamming of the development section and also makes it easy to see if there are known issues that every has reported.
I would like to make such a thread, but it takes a bit of time to help everybody/update the op on a regular basis and it also will be a bit hard for me to do because I don't own the device.
So if someone is willing to give up his free time, feel free to start a discussion thread

Hey being using it for half hour now.
Everything works so far, minor things to note:
The quick toggle for brigtness does not always work.
Can't find the option of clear sound or somerhing on calls I remember having that.
Also how can I change the phone number display format? morelocale2 won't help, it shows all numbers like xxx-xxx-xxxx and it's very confusing in eastern europe.
new bug: changing language will crash settings.

We can post bugs.. The other thread is for questions and etc. The reason is because we want to keep this thread clean.
Ok, here is what I noticed.
The battery seems to be draining faster than stock OS, for some reasons.
Changing language crashes settings ( but changes the language )
I don't have the tool in "storage" to format the sd card.
After half day of usage noticed my phone keep unlocking in my pocket, I don't have any special unlock features enabled like home button or so.
After all since this is an alpha, the build is quite solid for me, everything else work fine so far.
Excelent , great work , like in Galaxy W !
One question : can we swap memory ?
There seems to be an updated gapps build 20130812. (There is a 20130813 for android 4.3)
Should we use that latest version instead?

MD5SUM: 1f51b5cc6370c1f45dc951109b6ce6ed
Please verify the md5sum to be sure you got the right one.
Before you install CM-10.2: Preparation (First three are optional.
Warning: Only use this recovery to flash CM-10.2. Otherwise, you risk bricking your phone!2
Wipe data and cache.
Flash cm-10*.zip.
Flash gapps*.zip. You must flash gapps after every upgrade to CM10.2 since /system is formatted, wiping your previous add-ons.
Upgrades
Upgrades from previous versions of CM10.2 are the same process as install, except you do not need to wipe anything. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to even wipe cache and dalvik-cache when upgrading between CM10.2 versions. You only need to wipe if you are doing a major upgrade, switching to a different ROM entirely, or attempting to fix bugs caused by bad backups or corrupt app data.

This is quite off-topic but it has been mentioned several times before that dual-sim support has never been a feature available in stock android roms and therefore manufacturers have to code their own drivers and interface to utilise dual-sim features. Unfortunately, that means it's not openly available for use by others and therefore makes it very difficult to cook custom roms which support dual-sim.
You will probably have to wait for a highly skilled developer to come along, have the device, and be willing to spend time to port it. The previous developer who promised to try has not gotten back to the user's for a very long while after opening a thread asking for testers.
Thanks arco68 amazing work, look forward to the stable version

Everything works for me. Have not tested wifi, Bluetooth and usb tethering is good.
Only problem i have is few random restarts. Maybe twice a day. But the battery life, low ram usage and smooth performance is so excellent, it doesn't bother me.
All and all, very stable and functional for nightlies.
Minor bugs:
Back and menu button lights up every time you touch the screen, only supposed to light up when you touch then.
In the radio app, volume buttons doesn't work if phone sleeps.
Using 041113 cm nightly, allot may have changed since

This ROM and S4 Mini 3G.
I have strange proximity sensor behavior. It start to power off display every time not only in call mode. Reboot helps but after few hours things bad again. Very annoying. No noise in dmesg or logs ((
I'm not sure if this problem related to 3rd party dialers or not. Started to uninstall it all one after another with no help.
Every other thing works perfectly well.
@arco68
I'm using the release candidate 1.0. I experience one major bug, when the phone sleeps, automatically or power button induced, sometimes the screen does not want to wake up again, and the only way to get it going is to hold the power button to which the phone restarts.
The reason i say the screen is asleep, when radio or music is playing, it continues playing, screen just doesn't want to wake up. Its not always, maybe 4 times a day.

Downloading now and will flash later. Can't wait!
So far it looks like these are non working. Keep in mind this is for informative purposes and not complaining.
Location toggle doesn't toggle
HDR doesn't work.
Some CM features aren't in there yet. Nothing major. The main features are there.
Battery drains heavy at first then chills out.
Running OK so far except for my wifi. Also mine asks me which home app to use... I'm not sure which.
Is the proper one the house or the blue bubble?

Yes you can save your backup to sdcard now with cwm. I was personally using newest touch 6.0.4.4 now using Philz Advanced Touch which is based off of 6.0.4.5. I haven't had any issues with hanging on the samsung screen since switching from twrp where I was getting that pretty consistently upon reboots.
If I haven't done so already should I flash the newest modem files found HERE? Or does CM11 already have the updated modem files built in?

I believe the blue icon is google's new kitkat launcher. I believe launcher 3 is cyanogenmod launcher. Not sure though for sure as I use Nova.
Working alright right now. I had an issue with wifi being wonky and when I plugged in my USB cable my phone crashed, but those things haven't happened again.

CM doesn't flash modem files. I always use the latest modems myself.
Hi all. I have managed to piece together a build of CM11 that has working radio, bluetooth, sd card, gps, etc.
Here it is. FYI, I am not really a developer, This is my first attempt to build a project. In order to get it working I had to use the proprietary blobs from CM12 - the muppets - and make a couple of changes to the cm11 source code. The rest is straight from the cm11 repo's. I will post what I did at a later time so hopefully we can get these changes into cm11 so it builds properly.

Yup. It's finally here. CM11 with basically everything* working.
*Working:
Pretty much everything:
WiFi
2G/3G/LTE
Camera (back and front-facing and LED flash,) camcorder works in 1080p, no 4k yet
Sound (little bit quiet)
Screen (duh)
Proximity, Accelerometer, Gyroscope
GPS (can drain battery really fast)
Bluetooth
SDCard read/write
*Not working:
Wireless Charging (it works but it's very, very slow)
NFC - (Might be a battery killer in current state, uninstall or freeze it in TiBu) <--Working on a fix
Installation Instructions:
*NOTE*: You must be Bump'd for this to work. This requires flashing via custom recovery
1. Download this and GApps (recommended PA GApps. For android 4.44. You can find on xda
2. Put both on Internal Storage or external storage
3. Reboot into recovery
4. BACKUP CURRENT ROM
5. Factory Reset/Wipe
6. Flash CM11 (I wiped all but interal and external)
7. Flash GApps
8. Reboot

Everything is fine but screen is still off when I finish talking. I need to push power button and screen on and then end the call.
No one is experiencing random app closes ? I open apps and they randomly restart or just close with out any notice of force closes. For example instagram will randomly send its self to the top of the feed when scrolling. Any solutions to this issue?
"Everything is fine but screen is still off when I finish talking. I need to push power button and screen on and then end the call."
This is an issue with just about every AOSP rom available at the moment. Probably gonna have to wait until someone manages to find a fix for the proximity sensor (someone submitted a fix and from what I read it still didn't fix it, yet). Once that's done it will likely be a simple addition to this rom. Sit tight. Once the holidays and their associated hangovers pass I am sure some more fixes will come down the pipeline.
seems this rom has the same issues as the cm12 builds... where the default SMS app won't send texts....
but thanks for the build.... pretty solid otherwise so far

When I used this rom I used the textra sms program and was able to get all texts working, mutlimedia, etc. Unfortunately, my ls990 gets blue screen of death on any of the cm11 or aosp based roms currently, which is a known issue that only affects what seems to be a small numbers of users that have what seems to be slightly different hardware boards.
I will do an updated build once this issue gets sorted out. Everything else seemed to work pretty well on this rom once you have textra installed. Advantage over cm12 is xposed modules work fine. Also I didn't have any network issues that I seemed to get while streaming with some of the aosp roms.

DL link is fine. Its dev-host, hit the bottom blue button, not the top orange one.
any chance for an update to this one?
just went back to it from an old backup due to cm12 just being too unstable....
this build would be almost perfect for me if the default texting app worked
battery life seems much better on this cm11 build vs. the newest cm12 alphas
thanks
Waiting to re-build

I am waiting on a new build for cm11 until we get bluetooth issues ironed out. I don't think there have been a whole lot of changes to cm11 since my old build. The changes that we need to make this more stable are the bluetooth proprietary firmware / drivers it seems that the devs have yet to figure out.
Once we get this working fully I will do a new build of cm11.
Is there an update to be had here? Or has everyone moved on to CM12?
