I already have a finished "Unlocking" page and a (LOL) Finished "Rooting Page" If you would like to check it out. I will have all the files mirrored at Mediafire so I can share my links when you want them as mirrors.

I like this!!!

Thanks for this! Great resource!

my phone is asking for Flash MDM6600, could anyone elaborate what exactly it is and were i can find the drivers plz

website looks promising, i just unlocked for the first time. as all other instructions have been missing files to flash etc... thanks

Now that I see that the website is getting used I will continue progress on it. Thanks for your feedback .

You should ask QBking77 if you can post some of his how-to videos on your website.

Plan on using your guide to unlock my Photon. Thanks a lot and I like your site. I do have one question though. I installed CWM from he market, do I still need to flash it like you said on your website or am I good to go with the one from the market?

The app "ROM manager" from the market does not flash the correct recovery to flash anything ICS based. Cm9, MIUI, aokp, all will not work from that recovery. If you want to use those ROMS you need to use either rom racers or jokers recoveries.

Yes. I use 5.0.2.7-photon3 and have flashed several ROMs with it with a 100% success rate. You can also create nandroids and restore them with it.

Put the phone in fastboot mode then open the cmd.exe in the unlocking pack.
Typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" should flash the CWM. Make sure that the cmd.exe, fastboot.exe, and recovery.img are all in the same folder. I believe i put them together but I could be wrong.

As of 23:57 GMT -5 April 20, 2012 I have started the closing of Imperium Initiate website. The final wipe and domain release will occur on April 30th. JamesChilds' Photon Website will be the only comprehensive source for the Photon when it's completed.

Need some guidance...

Currently running CM9 on my Photon, would like to go back to stock, have searched and havent really found to much.
Is there a guide for the simple minded among us (namely me) to go back to stock???
I have a feeling it's really simple and I am gonna feel silly for asking....heh
Boot into recovery,
hard reset X3
Reboot into rsd mode
Sbf back to stock
(you will have t to re root and unlock if you choose to after)

Cm9 isn't as cracked up as they making out to be?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
It was pretty nice, but not all it's cracked up to be. A few things didnt work.
But the most annoying thing was it didnt seem to know it was on Sprint network.
It was nice, and I dont wanna crap on the hard work put into it..
It's acting kind of flakey, I wonder if re-flashing it would help, I might try that first then maybe go back to stock.....
Ive had very few issues with CM9 and ive followed it from the beginning Alpha stages.. Try a different version if you have issues. To each his own for sure some people will like others won't. I personally cant be taken away from it. Ive had VERY few network issues where it wouldn't connect and the not working items list gets smaller each day, its basically down to video camera in stock app and few other minor things. As for going back to stock if you need super detail check out QBKing77 on youtube, he has a video of exactly what to do.
I am currently running beta-0.1.0-2d-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Sunfire-KANG-signed, maybe I should just upgrade to beta-0.5.0-cm-9.0.0-RC0-sunfire-UNOFFICIAL-signed. If I do that, I pretty much follow the directions I did to flash the original correct??
Basically from about 3 minutes in on QB's tut video??
Cant post the link, but this one:

When coming from previous cm9 build just wipe system in mounts and storage and flash thr newer build onto it via clockworkmod recovery.
Sent not from your device!
I will give that a try, I tried 3 or 4 times yesterday but it would get stuck on the M duel core screen.
Restored the back up I had and it was ok then.
EDIT:
No love yet again, I am using CWM 5.0.2.7.
It stops at the M duel core tech screen and just sits there.
Did you flash twice? If you don't, it bootloops.

ICS Rom
The way i got that rom to work on my photon was to run the original rom, then go back and flash the most recent version, that worked perfectly for me!
I will give that a whirl after after work, thanks....
Finally, got it going, further reading figured out to flash the rom twice in a row, currently running 0.5.0, had to flash the CDMA fix to get the signal, running great, much smoother then the 0.1.0......
Thanks for all the help guys.....

[Q] CWM on Photon

Hey everyone,
I've successfully flashed CWM/unlocked my photon via LokiFish's excellent thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20331623&postcount=6
My question is, since I've payed for CWM in the past, can I download the update and flash newer versions or is the recovery-red-photon the only one the phone can successfully support?
Thanks in advance!
Official version doesn't work right. Actually, jokersax's version works great. You'll find a link to his site in his cm9 thread in the development section.

Jokers recovery is a flashable zip you can flash in cwm, then reboot recovery and you're set. Both work great, but if you plan on using the aroma installer that is available for some of the ics builds, you'll need jokers recovery to take advantage of the touch-based aspect of that. Otherwise, you can navigate through the installer with the volume keys and select work the camera key.

there is no premium version of clockworkmod recovery, there is rom manager and rom manager premium.. and depending on the device that may or may not be worthwhile...
i myself prefer goo manager, its free for everyone, donate 10 bucks and you get lifetime membership to skip the 10 sec wait. they provide free hosting to devs for roms, if the roms are setup properly they will show up in the goomanager app and when there is a new version will prompt users of that rom .
but yea there is no premium version of cwm, the difference between rom manager and rom manager premium is you can download certain roms (usually just the cm7/9 nightlies for official devices, ergo no impact on the photon..)

I know you can use the version of cwm it flashes in order to flash jokers recovery zip. Then you don't have to fastboot a recovery file. Beyond that, I've never really bothered with it.

rom manager
I downloaded rom manager and it does support the photon and has for awhile. When choosing to flash recovery through rom manager it picked up the photon no probably. So to answer the questions it does work and support the photon 4g. Now if we can just get Koush to make a clockworkmod touch recovery for the photon it will be all good.

Well, like I said in op, I've searched and found ones that say must be s on or relock. Also found the ones to do from fastboot .
Like I said, don't find stock rooted that I can flash through recovery. As stated in op already have done what above post says.

Being unable to find something and not looking are not the same, there is a flashable zip of T-Mobile, Telus and Mobilicity ICS roms posted in the amaze bibe thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679486

If you search for what you're looking for in the places that it should be, you will find it.

After you flash the ota zip you will need to flash the boot.img file inside it manually if you're not s-off, use hasoons tool to flash it, its the kernel required for wifi to work.
Just remembered you use cwm recovery, you have to flash the kernel file manually since only 4ext recovery supports kernel flashing.

Yes, i am s-off. I was on energy rom. Flashed the stock rooted zip from link you posted above. I wiped everything before flash. Wifi shows networks shows trying to connect but keeps going through that. Will NEVER connect. I tried the process form post 4 in energy rom and still wont connect. If i restore the back up of energy, wifi works
Ok, just did the manual flash and still no wifi. I see i mis typed above, the OTA zip works, everything except wifi
You're the first and only person that used that zip and complained of that issue, my only piece of advice for you would be to use the PH85IMG stock img in the stock ruu thread and restore, then re-root your device, best of luck.

[RECOVERY] CWM 6 Alpha Touch recovery

Koush is giving the world access to his buildbot to test out the new version of CWM. So I decided to give it a whirl. Offers incremental backups making them much smaller and faster.
This is for ICS ROMS only
*please note that I know that I am NOT a real dev. I just figured out how to run his buildbot and got it working on my phone.
Build Details
Download Recovery
*usual disclaimer that I am not responsible for you bricking your phone*
To install
1. Download file to your computer
2. In command line, navigate to the folder you have the recovery
3. Reboot phone into fastboot
4. "fastboot flash recovery recovery-CWM-6.0.0.0-ruby.img"
5. "fastboot reboot"
6. Reboot Phone into recovery as normal
Anyone test it as yet other than you? Would be cool to see this in action, good post, many of those who wanted CWM will love you for it, lol.
As far as I could tel I was the first to build a ruby version. I just pulled the 5.0.2.8 CWM and used that as a base and had it build a touch version. I tried getting it to use the stock recovery but the only one I could find was from the all-in-one toolkit and it built, but the recovery had trouble mounting points so I didn't upload it here.
I've always been a fan of CWM but that's prolly mostly because that's what I familiar with. I've used it since my G1.
So it can flash kernels???
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
It was built off of 5.0.2.8 so I would have to guess that you would have to be S-OFF to flash kernels. I am S-OFF and am the only one I know of running it.
Why is it only able to flash ics roms?

FINALLY, A FRICKING RECOVERY THAT JUST WORKS.
Jesus, I tried every recovery I could find.
I'm not mentally impaired, so I do understand (and preffer) to use fastboot, and all other recoveries either required a download of an app to do the work for you or they just plain wouldn't boot (I'm looking at you, EXT4 touch binary...)
Plus it's well documented and it's a real developer friendly recovery, not so user oriented. I love it.

or you can just flash the 4EXT recovery image from my toolkit. That is another way. 4EXT wants the app installed so it can tell you about updates and let it update by itself.

[Q] Requesting Help With Bootlooping E970

Hey guys. I am not from around here. You will normally find me hanging out in the Nexus forums. I need some help trying to correct an issue my noob buddy caused on his E970. He brought it to me today in a boot loop and apparently he rooted it an uninstalled some GAPPS and now he has this security error and BL. Now, so far I have managed to install the drivers..... that's it. I have worked on a variety of different devices but I am really having trouble with this. I think the issue is I can not find a thread that is comprehensive enough to explain what alot of the different tools are and what they do. I mean there is
1. LGNPST
2. Teenybin
3. Freegee or something like that
Then there about 14 different file types depending on the tool you are using. I have seen;
1. dll
2. bin
3. kdz
4. tot
I have to be honest with you guys this is confusing as hell. I keep coming across dead links and old downloads and stuff that may not work. I REALLY don't like using stuff not linked from XDA as that is all I've known for many years (not to say other sites aren't reputable but you never know) I can follow instructions and figure out most stuff on my own but due to the in completion of alot of this stuff and dead links I am kinda stuck I am gonna give it another go tomorrow but in the meantime if someone wants to drop me a link or word of advice as to where to at least start it would be awesome. I am pretty handy generally with this kind of thing but I guess that goes to show you sometimes you are only as good as the tools and directions you are working with. Thanks XDA Community! :good:
Okay the first three.
3.lgnpst is the program you will need to use to fix the security error which was caused by removing bloat without unlocking bootloader.
2.teenybin is used with lgnpst to unlock bootloader, update partitions to jb, and install recovery. It doesn't install firmware but could be used to restore if a rom was copied to sd to flash.
3.freegee is used to unlock bootloader and install recovery on a working phone.
Next four.
1.dll are files needed by windows.
2.bin is the extension the file needs to be for using lgnpst.
3.kdz is stock firmware for use with lgflashtool (used mainly for international phones)
4.tot is the extension the stock firmware is released with which will be renamed to bin before using lgnpst.
In the additional info section of teenbin thread there is a click to show content button that will have have links and guide for lgnpst. Use the tSilenzio version and it will register the DLL files on install.

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed. Someone just to say "these are what these things are and what they do". I do have to admit I don't fault my buddy too much for soft bricking this thing as of all the devices I've rooted or flashed to this seems the most confusing. And also it's very odd that if you remove BW without first unlocking the bootloader you get this error..... Why can't they all just be as easy as a Nexus? Lol.

A few other things that may help.
1.lgnpst is a pain with windows 8
2.it will not work with USB 3.0
3.be sure to right click lgnpst exe and run as admin
I got my OG right after release but had already been following forum, and would hate to have to jump in now and try to figure things out.

Well its especially difficult when someone just brings you a phone and you've never even seen it booted up and you don't know all the weird quirky rules it has (like if you uninstall GAPPS without unlocking the bootloader then you get a bootloop.) lol Otherwise it seems like a solid phone. It has almost the same specs as my Nexus 4.

This link is for a flashable zip of rooted stock jb. If you used the teenybin files with lgnpst then flashed it with recovery the end result would be stock rom with unlocked bootloader, root, and custom recovery.

Real quick.... So once I've got everything back to stock and get the boot loader unlocked.. Will I then be able to modify system stuff, uninstall bloat etc and avoid that evil security error boot loop?

Yes, once you're unlocked & rooted you will be good to go. I would recommend flashing an established rom and installing the GApps that are recommended. It would be a lot more convenient and less of a hassle.
Make sure you are using TWRP, CWM was causing bugs with flashing of some roms. Hope this helps.

Awesome and once I've flashed a good rom. Would that then circumvent any future boatloads caused by modifications etc.? So in other words are those proprietary (catches) cooked out when the devs set up a rom? I would imagine so. I know most of us folks hate that kinda thing... Lol
BTW any tips on a good solid stable Jelly Bean Rom? Would want it to be pretty stable since it's not my phone... Lol

Hey thanks again everyone! Got the phone fixed. A stock AT&T 4.1.2 Rom on there and root privileges intact. Everything is good to go. I actually kinda like the phone a lot.... I really want an LG G2..... Oooh yeah... Thanks again everyone and maybe some one will find the instructions in this thread helpful.
