How to access Amon-ra recovery? - HTC Rezound

I just rooted my phone and installed Amon-ra recovery during the process. I even made a NAND back-up of the stock ROM and installed Superuser before rebooting. Now I am trying to flash my a ROM but cannot access recovery mod. I tried through the bootloader and it just showed me a picture of a phone with a red triangle and exclamation mark. What am I doing wrong and how can I access recovery mod to install my ROM? Also I was wondering if Clockwork Recovery was good with the rezound as i am more used to clockwork on my EVO 4G. Thanks.

You should be able to access recovery through the bootloader,if you're getting a triangle with exclamation mark that is a stock recovery.try flashing amon ra again,I think cmw still has issues most everyone uses amon ra here. If you flash a custom Rom most have reboot shortcuts built in

How do I flash Amon-ra? I followed the step-by-step process by Scott for the rooting and that was when I installed Amon-ra. I even used Amon-ra for the Nand back-up and to install Superuser. Do I have to go back to the ADB-thing to install Amon-ra again? I can follow step by step instructions but I am a very tecchie person. I know that once I flash a custom ROM, I will have the option to reboot in recovery from the 4-in-1 menu, but for now how do I flash amon-ra?

Place the recovery image in the same folder as your fastboot then use the command fastboot flash recovery "name of recovery image" minus the quotes which would be the amonra image.

if you really don't understand, use this instead
http://forum.xda-developers.com//showthread.php?t=1504824

Try this download this file http://www.mediafire.com/?l9dgzvvsdku7g3c and rename it recovery.
save it in the folder C:android the same folder you used to unlock the bootloader the one with fastboot, adb, and AdbWinApi.dll.
Install amon ra by entering HBOOT and go to fastboot USB
open cmd and type commands press enter after every command
cd..
cd..
cd android
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
let it do its thing then you should be able to get into your recovery.
I hope this helps

HELP! Can't get my recovery and backups back!

I installed that flash image gui app, tried a new kernel, I dont like it and tried to reset my backup from the cwm recovery I use to have, but the recovery wasnt there anymore and I had to flash the twrp recovery, which i dislike, and still cant figure out how to get my cwm backup of this rom back.
Check to see if the backup files are in the CWM folder if not then not to be a Debbie Downer but you're SOL. If they are boot into system and flash the recovery using Rom Manager then restore the backup like you normally would
I've tried that... I have twrp recovery, I've tried that and when booting into recovery it just shows the white HTC screen then reboots. I do have the backup in the cwm folder but can't flash it.

just reflash cwm recovery via fastboot.
How do I do that? I tried flashing it from twrp recovery but it doesn't see the file. It is in the root of my SD. It's cwm 5.0 shooter
cwm backups dont work with twrp backups and vice versa.
Load your phone into the bootloader( power button and volume down).
Then connect to computer via usb, and press power button again to enter fastboot and it should say fastboot usb.
Then in terminal/command prompt execute this command where "recovery.img" is the file name of your cwm recovery.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then when thats done execute this
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Do i need to rename the cwm file, or use any program on the computer? I can get into the bootloader from my phone if there's an easier way, I don't quite understand that way. Also I have hboot 1.50 if it matters
it doesn't matter the name of the recovery but u just have to use that name instead of recovery.img when u type the command. since you have 1.50 your gonna have to use flashboot to flash anything when you arent able to boot into android.
I assume u have downloaded fastboot, adb, and the google usb drivers, since u have already rooted.
You will use your command prompt on your computer to boot phone into the recovery. See in 1.50 u can't just boot up the phone, goto recovery and flash things. You have to boot into boot loader, press power button when selector is on fastboot (normally default position aka first one in the list), then connect phone via usb to computer. The Red word fastboot should now say fastboot usb.
then execute the commands. "recovery.img" replace with your cwm file name
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
alright I think I figured it out, thanks a lot man!
and don't worry your not the only this happened to. I had this happen to me this weekend. I just got the phone 5 days ago and killed it. So i had a great weekend playing catch up to learn how to reflash on 1.50 HBOOT.

also if you still get white screen after you restore with cwm, its means the stock kernel didnt carry over. just reply if that happens.
once you loose its gone why dont you try 4ext custom recovery and gui doe's cause problem's ive used it and it wiped out my boot.img right now im useing 4ext as my custom recovery and it does'nt give any problems at all give it a try

NO bro, the apps works very well. It gets the Job done perfectly.
Suppose you were on a certain ROM and tried flashing a custom kernel with Flash Image GUI, and stuck in bootloop/htc screen , it doesnt mean that the Flash Image GUI caused that.
Even if you tried flashing the same kernel via fastboot boot recovery.img above the same ROM.......the result will be same i.e bootloop/htc screen.

Please help. Ran ota with custom recovery.

Problem solved. Thanks to everyone that responded. I really do appreciate it!!!!
What exactly did you flash? The Mainver error only relates to the kernel IIRC.
The only thing I tried to flash was the custom recovery after I accidentally ran the ota update with the custom recovery still on my phone. When I should've flashed back to the stock recovery before accepting the update. And now I can't get into custom recovery. When I try to reflash armon ra it won't take. I've lost root access even though I have superuser still on my phone.

how are you trying to reflash Amon Ra ? , what recovery do you boot into ? As long as your still unlocked you should be able to flash Amon Ra through Hboot it has nothing to do with root access at that point. Even odder that the OTA flashed through the custom recovery, thought it would error out and not take if it wasn't the stock recovery. Unless you ran Con's Stock rooted, but then you wouldn't have an issue with superuser or root access.
Should be able to flash stock recovery through fastboot relock and RUU then if you really are stuck. Otherwise , no reason you shouldn't be able to reflash Amon Ra and reroot through recovery.
Download THIS
I take it the phone can't boot up at all? Have your tried fastboot flashing the stock kernel?

I'm trying to flash it in hboot as ph98img. And when I go to recovery it seems to go to the stock recovery with the little phone and a green circle but shortly after it turns into the red triangle and phone symbol.
Try flashing the recovery in fastboot. Download the latest version of AmonRa here and extract the recovery-ra-vigor-3.13-gnm.img. Take that file and place it in the same file directory you place the tools to unlock your bootloader (needs to be in the same directory as fastboot.exe).
Put your phone into bootloader and connect to PC and flash the recovery-ra-vigor-3.13-gnm.img in fastboot using the command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.13-gnm.img

It will boot and everything runs fine, I just can't get into custom recovery or install custom recovery. And my apps that need superuser permissions won't be allowed even though I still have superuser installed on the phone.

Trying to find a definitive how-to for mac rooting

I've just unlocked my rezound and i'm trying to root via my mac. i downloaded the amonra recovery and put it in my android folder. i've got my phone rebooted and i'm in the fastboot usb menu. i have bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down as options.
a little help?
maybe i'm just not meant to root my phone :-(
On mine the command was ./fastboot recovery recovery.img as long as you are in fastboot in the bootloader.

Since you're in fastboot usb, make sure the recovery image is in the android tools folder containing fastboot.exe. The command is "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" without the quotes and recovery.img being the name of the image file you put in your android tools folder.

Damn knew i was missing something lol well said.
alright, got amonra installed with the right path and all, went to dev options, installed su & superuser, rebooted, i see superuser, but NOTHING is getting root access.... titanium backup, file explorer... nothing.
so, i don't think it's really rooted. sigh.
if it makes a difference, i was on the ICS leak prior to all this. make a difference?
Not really sure are you on stock right now or did you flash a rooted Rom?

Have you rebooted since rooting through Amon and installing SU? If that doesn't solve it, installing one of the rooted ROMs should.

I would prefer ICS.
I would read up on BAMF ICS or Cleanrom ICS and follow the steps to flash as long as you are on the new firmware. There are others but those are the ones that I've tried I'm currently on BAMF.
BAMF looks more straightforward. waiting for a response on a question over there.
What did you need to know?
it *appears* that i'm ready to flash. there are two files that i've downloaded. one is a rom, the other a kernal. i'm trying to figure out which is which and what my next steps are.
here are the instructions, and i'm wondering how important the nandroid backup is, since i'm basically starting fresh.
Download rom file and PH98IMGnewfirmwarepeople.zip
Rename PH98IMGnewfirmwarepeople.zip to "PH98IMG.zip" without the quotes
Place both files on external SD card and reboot to recovery
Make a nandroid backup
Wipe data, cache, dalvic cache, and system
Flash the rom through the "Flash Zip Menu" in recovery
From main recovery screen, choose "Developer Menu"
Select "Reboot to Bootloader" from the developer menu
Phone will reboot to hboot, you may have to select bootloader from hboot screen
Bootloader will load the PH98IMG.zip, select "Yes" to update.
Rock on with your bad self and reboot system
The one with BAMF in the title is typically the Rom and the kernel would either be oldfirmwarepeople.zip or newfirmwarepeople.zip this file has to be renamed as PH98IMG.zip and place on the ext sd card. Then in amon-ra wipe everything and flash the rom zip then from the developer menu boot into bootloader and let it apply the kernel update then it will reboot then profit.
do you see any issues with following the directions above?

[Q] (BIG Problem/Question) Error after ROM Install. Please help.

i have been running Synergy Rom and causing a lot of problems so I have been tryin to install a numerous amount of roms and after wiping the phone back to factory and the dalvik then when its time to reboot the system i reboot the phone it just stays in the HTC boot up screen. so after a wait 10 or so min i just reload the Synergy rom which is the only one that works.
i am also running Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4 if that helps
i would really appreciate it if someone could point me into the right the direction thank you.
Are you on hboot 1.5? Are you flashing the correct kernel?
We're comin from a pure power source.
Yes it is and to be honest I haven't flashed them with any kernels cuz I never have before
Hmmmm, and you're doing a full complete wipe right? Which recovery are you using
We're comin from a pure power source.
Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4 and yes full wipe and dalvik.
Have you tried a different recovery?

ok as you know the roms come as .zips and we apply them through recovery.... some times that recovery doesnt writ the boot img correctly.... try installing ANY rom....then try to boot up... if it hangs at htc then pull the battery out then put it right back in and hold vol down and press power..then connect the phone to your computer so on your phone you see "fastboot usb"now the rom you tried installing that was the zip have a copy of that on your computer and open up with any program you use to open zips...extract that boot.img file to your fast boot file and where adb is too ,once extracted go back to your terminal window and type in
fastboot flash boot boot.img
it should say that its sending the data then writing it and then from there wait about 30 seconds and then select reboot and the rom should boot up

You cannot directly install ROMs with custom kernels on hboot 1.5 .
You always have to use "fastboot boot <your recovery>.img" or "fastboot flash boot boot.img" like the above post says..... If you dont use PC to flash ROMs with custom kernels , you will always get stuck on the HTC screen.
If you want to be able to flash ROMs / kernels / radios etc without PC, downgrade your hboot from 1.5 to 1.4.
Get flash image GUI from market to bypass fast boot and install custom kernels, or downgrade using unbeknownforce method and closeones live cd

Idk if someone already said this but for 1.5 boot you need to go into fasboot usb . Fastboot boot recovery.img
Replace "recovery" with recovery file name. If your using 4.0.1.0 it might be. Cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img something like that
Second option is use 4EXT and you won't need to use your computer to flash rooms or kernels
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
First I assume you have the adb drivers.
place new rom on sd card
boot phone in bootloader, select fastboot
Access the adb folder via CMD
type in fastboot boot recovery.img
it should say waiting for device then connect..
you'll see the recovery screen
this will let you wipe and install new rom on hboot 1.5

phone has custom recovery but no means of flashing a ROM what to do?

so I was having a reboot issue with AOSP ROM's and was trying to go back to stock before I realized there was no RUU for T-mobile devices.
anyway long story short I am now at the point that I can load a custom recovery via fastboot but have no ROM at all on the phone, so when it reboots it just hangs on the HTC one splash screen.
how do I go about flashing a new ROM without usb access?
any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Chad
You still have usb access it's in hboot menu, Your in a mess , but do this .
If you have a custom recovery and can boot into it, do so.... Power off phone and hold vol down and power until u boot Into hboot ....And then choose adb sideload Rom option in your cwm or twrp recovery and download a Rom to your laptop and select sideload Rom.
If you have no recovery, boot Into hboot manually choose fastboot make sure it says fastboot usb that means u have usb recognituon to your phone it will be in red letters .... download and use hasoons2000 toolkit for tmobile m7.... Choose flash a recovery it's at the far top right of the tool kit to script flash cwm recovery.
Then sideload a Rom from pc to phone via recovery..
